Welcome to the luxurious material deprivation of the Gaza Strip.

As the world continues to chastize Israel for allegedly causing material deprivation in the Gaza Strip, the residents of Gaza have just witnessed the grand opening of a new luxury shopping mall. The gigantic, futuristic complex is aptly called the “Strip Mall,” and in it, Gazans can peruse the finer amenities of the modern world in an atmosphere of comfort and security.

The day following the mall’s opening, the EU’s Senior Representative for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, called on Israel to lift its “blockade” of the Gaza Strip. Ashton’s call was no great surprise — coming from a person who, on her last visit to the region this past March, was in such a hurry to get to Gaza that she didn’t care to comment on Manee Singmueangphon, a Thai worker who was was murdered by a Gaza qassam rocket in nearby Netiv Ha’asara that very same day.

On this particular visit to Gaza, Ashton was apparently so overwhelmed by all the terrible sites of the well-promoted “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza, that she was unable to find the time to stop in to check the Strip Mall’s opening day sales. Nor did she have the time to look into all the efforts Israel has made to try to improve the economy in Gaza — and all the efforts Hamas has made to block them.

The Twito family is a living testament for why there is a naval blockade on Gaza.

Iris Twito, the mother of two sons injured by Qassam rockets in the city of Sderot, decided to grant an exclusive interview with Sderot Media Center, following the Gaza aid flotilla fiasco. “The entire world hates us,” said Iris, “but they don’t know what we’ve been through.”

The Twito family is a living testament for why there is a naval blockade on Gaza. “It’s not just Sderot that is under threat today, but the whole country,” said Iris. “It is vital that we stop these flotilla boats because we cannot allow Hamas to terrorize our Israeli children.”

Sitting on her patio in Ashdod, with a cigarette in hand, Iris recalls the most horrifying experience a mother can go through. Three years ago, Iris’s sons Osher and Rami, then eight and 19 respectively, were walking to an ATM in Sderot, when the rocket alarm went off. As the two brothers frantically attempted to locate a shelter in the middle of one of Sderot’s main streets, the Qassam rocket struck meters away from the two.

The exploded shrapnel sliced through the boys’ legs. Residents poured out to the street to help, but another rocket alert went off, forcing everyone to flee to shelter again. Moments later, the ambulances arrived to transport the boys to the closest hospital, Ashkelon’s Barzilai Hospital, located 20 minutes away from Sderot.

Amidst the flashing cameras at what was one of Sderot’s goriest scenes resulting from a rocket attack, Iris collapsed from the shock of seeing of her two sons lying next to each other, surrounded by a pool of their own blood. The entire city of 19,000 were subsequently shocked by the developments to follow.

The rocket attack left Osher in a coma for two weeks. The young boy had to go through intensive surgeries; his left leg had to be amputated, and doctors had to operate on a hole in his chest and his injured lungs. The older brother Rami’s legs were also badly damaged and operated on.

After a year in the hospital, Osher was released in a bright red wheelchair. His right leg was still badly damaged, but a new artificial limb was fitted on his left.

“Osher goes to intensive therapy every week to this day to help adjust to walking again,” said Iris. Osher, with big brown eyes and a freckled face, walks over to sit by his mother, slowly limping and murmurs hello.

Iris and her husband decided that it would be best to move the family from the heart of Hamas’s target city, Sderot, to Ashdod, Israel’s fifth largest city that is located 40 kilometers (24 miles) away from the Gaza Strip and was not under missile threat at that time.

Genocide girl, Jumanah Imad Albahri, helps expose the true agenda of anti-Israel activism on campuses.

The world should be thanking Jumanah Imad Albahri, the by now infamous Hezbollah and Hamas supporting MSA student at University of California San Diego who, at a recent David Horowitz lecture, publicly demonstrated the true face of anti-Israel activism on campuses.

As universities around the globe wrap up for the summer, many students will leave unaware that the liberalism they claim to stand for is often quite false. Case in point: The Middle East Forum has reported that the Saudi government has spent $87 billion spreading radical Islam in the last decade. As a clear product of this activity, we have seen a frightening increase in campuses around the globe hosting “Israel Apartheid Week.” More non-Muslim students have become active in these events in conjunction with the Muslim Student Association (MSA), the Pan-Arab radical Islam organization that is the derivation of these Saudi funds.

When watching the short YouTube video of the MSA student at UCSD (that proved to the world how MSA actively supports terrorism) I remembered back a year ago when my Sderot Media Center event at DePaul University was hijacked by MSA and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) along with their following of false liberals. As I described a year ago in the Jerusalem Post article, Shell-shocked in DePaul, what these so-called liberals were preventing was free speech and what they were promoting was everything that liberalism has historically fought against. Due to the radical response of these MSA students and false liberals, this incident made the Anti-Defamation League’s top four 2009 anti-Semitic campus events of the year.

Even more telling of the true face of this false liberalism is the short video of Cartoonist Lars Vilks, who created the cartoons of the Muslim prophet Mohammed published in a Denmark newspaper, being attacked at Uppsala University in Sweden. Leave aside the multiple death threats Vilks has received and the price Al Qaeda has put on his head, and watch in the video how students physically attack him during a lecture on free speech. As the police try to wrestle down the attacking mob, the students are chanting “Allah hu Akbar!” In this type of liberalism, freedom of speech and press are not allowed but the infamous Muslim jihadist mantra, of course, is.

This false liberalism stands beside the sword of Mohammed that has spread across every continent in the form of student organizations like MSA and SJP. This false liberalism clearly supports Islamic terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al Qaeda. This false liberalism stands against freedom of speech and freedom of the press. This false liberalism supports honor killings such as the Said sisters that were murdered in Texas by their father for dating non-Muslims. This false liberalism supports the lynching of homosexuals. This false liberalism stands against the progression of women and for the oppression seen on the streets of the radical Islamic territories of the Gaza Strip and Iran. This false liberalism that silenced me in Chicago laughed at live footage of Jewish children running from missiles in Sderot. What has been masked on university campuses worldwide as liberalism is only masked radical Islam.

Unlike, as Daniel Pipes proves, the popular avoidance of the usage of the terms “terrorist” or “terrorism” following the attacks in Mumbai and Ft. Hood, when the unpopular pro-Israel opinion is voiced, it is deemed right-wing, extreme, fanatical, conservative, fascist, close-minded, and other exacerbated connotations. I received many responses to an article about removing the terrorist organization of Hamas from Twitter, an apolitical article that readers would undoubtedly agree with.

Some of the responses included:

•	You Guy are wrong Hamas is a resistance organization who are defending their small-left land called GAZA… HAMAS has the right to resist until it liberates all Palestine [sic.]

•	WHO is a terrorist? Yet a Terrorist. Isael has been taught a small lesson by the Hesbollah and Hamas and they will teach again and again untill those settlers Including Jacob Shrybman should go back to America and where they Came from (sic).

•	Jacob Shrybman is a Settler who came from America and occupied a piece of Palestine (sic).

•	Jacob, Do you think that trying to silence one of the few voices this imprisoned people have is going to make Israel look less a jailer (sic)?

•	Hamas was also a response to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and the ethnic cleansing that has gone with that occupation. So, I state again that given Israel’s sixty years of state sponsored and condoned terrorism, attacking Hamas without acknowledging Israeli crimes is hypocritical.

While all five comments vary in their extremity, they all point to the same thing. Each comment in some way excuses or encourages the terrorists’ action using this false liberalism and then bastardizes the democratic state of Israel.

Looking at examples from just this month of the MSA student in San Diego publicly voicing her support for Hezbollah’s dream of gathering all the Jews in Israel to kill them all in one place; of a student mob in Sweden attacking a controversial cartoonist at his lecture on free speech while chanting “Allah hu Akbar,” and the commonality of the five article comments above, we clearly see this false liberalism as only a mask for collusion with radical Islam.

The newest terrorist recruitment tool.

When developing this article I really couldn’t decide if I was going to write it in a satirical manner or in a concerned manner. The concept was just so ridiculous to me, I wasn’t sure how to convey it to the world.

The military wing of the terrorist organization Hamas, the Al Qassam Brigades –which murders, pillages, persecutes, fires rockets, stones, lynches, blows themselves up, etc. — has a Twitter account. No folks, I am not joking. The days when the world is spooked by an unmarked video or cassette tape which arrives at the Al Jazeera offices are over. You can simply “Follow” them with your personal Twitter account.

I was stunned to see the user name @AlqassamBrigade pop up amongst the average 100 tweets an hour mentioning Gaza. I had been to the terrorists’ website (which has the fun option to choose your favorite color scheme for the menus) to see their propagandized use of images from Operation Cast Lead, and this was their matching Twitter account.

Sitting at my laptop using our Sderot Media Center Twitter account, @SderotMedia, most likely only a couple of miles away from the terrorists managing the Hamas Twitter account, I thought to engage them in dialogue on one of the base debates in this conflict:

@AlqassamBrigade As you know, you terrorize thousands just over the border from Gaza here in Sderot. Or do you call it Najd?

Never receiving an answer and following protocol, I filed a complaint with Twitter and this is the automated response I received: Twitter provides a communication service. As a policy, we do not mediate content or intervene in disputes between users. Users are allowed to post content, including potentially inflammatory content, provided that they do not violate the Twitter Terms of Service and Rules (name calling is not a violation.)

Essentially, this gives the terrorist organization the most popular worldwide platform to preach whatever propaganda or hate speech they like because, as you see above, “name calling is not a violation.”

The automated Twitter response continues, “If a violent threat is posted in the future, please let us know, and send the status link.” So, only if Hamas tweets about the imminent launch of a missile attack will Twitter take action?

In the worldwide blockbuster jaw-dropping movie Bruno, created by comic mastermind Sasha Baron Cohen, the main character Bruno is attempting to make peace in the Arab-Israeli conflict and while hosting a dialogue session he continually misuses the word “Hamas” for “Hummus;” it exemplifies the great light humor for which Baron Cohen is famous. The mainstream legitimization of the terrorist organization Hamas is so widespread that, these days, it is almost a household term and this is how the caricaturist can comically draw that connection on screen.

However, it is more than a joke when the entire world has turned its back on Hamas’ actions for nearly a decade thereby accepting it into the public domain. Rocket and suicide attacks on Jewish civilians are clearly not enough, but why won’t the world delegitimize Hamas for human rights abuses such as “honor killings?” Instead, the United Nations and Judge Goldstone chose to give Hamas and radical Islam around the world an over 500 page report to continue their terrorism.

Let’s be clear: This is not an issue of freedom of speech as Hamas is a terrorist organization even to the United Nations. I encourage everyone with a Twitter account to file a complaint against Hamas’ account @AlqassamBrigade to get Hamas out of our households and stop the tweeting of terror.

Just three days after a man was murdered by a qassam rocket in southern Israel, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon visited the Gaza Strip and told the people of Gaza “we stand with you.” Ban called for an end to a so-called siege or blockade on the terrorist controlled territory, and one has to ask what siege or blockade Moon is referring to when in 2009 738,576 tons of humanitarian aid was transferred into the Gaza Strip.

Can the UN really claim there is a “Gaza Siege” when they have given $200 million to the Gaza Strip following a military operation that is claimed to have had 1,300 casualties amongst a population of less than 1.5 million, and they have only given $10 million to the natural disaster in Haiti that claimed the lives of an estimated over 230,000 people and affected over 3 million? Of course, that is without mentioning that Haitians have not been attacking an innocent nearby civilian population for a near decade and were the subject of a natural disaster.

The international community has bought this bold faced lie about some Israeli implemented siege on the Gaza Strip while ignoring the facts on the ground. International humanitarian aid has been flowing rapidly into the Gaza Strip for years and in no way stopped after Operation Cast Lead, as 30,576 aid trucks entered the territory in 2009. In 2009 4,883 tons of medical equipment entered the Gaza Strip with this equipment continuing including for example a new CAT Scan machine just last month.

As the Gaza Strip has been called terms like “the world’s largest prison” referencing residents not being able to exit the territory, in 2009 10,544 patients and their companions left the Gaza Strip for medical treatment in Israel, and just weeks prior nearly 500 patients and companions from Gaza received medical treatment in Israel.

The UN has continued to promote this lie of a “Gaza Siege” while not promoting how much money they have pumped into the Gaza Strip following Operation Cast Lead. In an UNRWA report to measure the progress of UN aid 6-months after Operation Cast Lead, they reported that of the aimed goal of over $300 million they planned to give to Gaza, they had transferred almost $200 million.

Before his upcoming Gaza visit, Ban Ki Moon just returned from a visit to the earthquake devastated Haiti. There he promised the citizens more help and said the UN was leading a revised plan to raise another $1.4 billion in aid. That goal has not been met yet but what the UN did give up until the end of January was $10 million in aid.

There have been major US government officials as well, such as Congressmen Keith Ellison and Brian Baird both of which visited Sderot with the Sderot Media Center, that have promoted this idea of a “Gaza Siege.” They must be ignoring the fact that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pledged $900 million in aid to be sent to the Gaza Strip following Operation Cast Lead. While in a USAID and DOD report calculating the aid has been sent to the earthquake decimated Haiti, as of last month all the US Government programs gave just over $700 million in aid, nearly $200 million less the terrorist controlled Gaza Strip.

Over a year has past since Operation Cast Lead and the international community is still buying the bold faced lie about a “Gaza Siege,” while the Sderot Media Center reports over 330 rockets and mortars have hit Israel from Gaza in that same year. Five minutes away from the Erez Crossing into Gaza, Ban Ki Moon should have visited Kibbutz Netiv HaAsara where a foreign worker was murdered by a qassam rocket last Thursday and Kibbutz Nirim to see where a rocket destroyed a building the week before, instead of working to promote a lie by visiting the Gaza Strip.

The anti-Israel organization shares Hamas' dream for Israel's future.

When it was reported that the New Israel Fund (NIF) was paying around $8 million to organizations that provided the Goldstone Report with all of its condemnations of Israel, it became clear that the “New Israel” desired by the New Israel Fund is one with more than 9 years of consistent rocket fire.

Our organization, Sderot Media Center (SMC), with a yearly budget of close to $200,000, worked tirelessly on a formal report that was requested by the Goldstone Commission itself, which encompassed the impact of the rocket fire on the residents of the Sderot region. We sent this formal report accompanied by photographs and videos to depict to this UN committee, which did not visit Sderot, what it is like to live under either daily rocket fire or the threat of daily rocket fire over the course of then eight years. The Goldstone Committee then flew our director, Noam Bedein, to the UN Headquarters in Geneva to give a 30-minute presentation/testimony in front of the committee on this daily reality lived in Sderot.

The New Israel Fund paid around $8 million to organizations that provided information to the Goldstone Report. As a cited provider of information for the Goldstone Report, I guess our New Israel Fund check got lost in the mail.

As the only organization providing the human story of the near decade of rocket fire on Israeli men, women and children, the NIF clearly had no intention of helping sponsor our work.

A clear majority of the organizations mentioned in the Goldstone Report, 77%, are organizations that were paid by the NIF. Amongst those organizations, an overwhelming majority of the ones that were in favor of the report, 92%, are organizations that were paid by the NIF.

The New Israel Fund, an organization that supposedly prides itself on democracy and human rights, “We fight inequality, injustice and extremism because we understand that justice is the precondition for a successful democracy,” as defined in their “About Us” — strategically and financially ignores the human rights of Sderot men, women, and children that have endured this rocket lifestyle since 2001. The one organization located in Sderot that was paid by the NIF was an organization called the Other Voice — that led a bike ride from Sderot to the Gaza border. Apparently, organizations in Sderot are only worth NIF money if they are speaking out for Gaza residents and riding a bike.

The head of the NIF, Naomi Chazan, has led the response to this Im Tirtzu report by touting terms like “democracy” to describe what she is supporting, and “fascists” is what she has called those who criticize the NIF. A well educated professor like herself should know that democracy is not achieved by Hamas viciously controlling a prisoner population and using them as shields from a sovereign army and paying the UN to enable Hamas to further persevere doesn’t help. A democracy does not put over 100,000 Gaza children through summer military training camps. So, in attempting to bring down the only democracy in the world with international war crimes, Chazan hopes to create her “New Israel” democracy where Hamas can cause the death of more of their children, train more of them to fight Jews, and freely fire rockets at neighboring Israeli children.

A well educated professor like herself, Chazan should know that calling people and organizations that criticize the NIF “fascists” is embarrassingly hypocritical — while she pays and supports the ongoing actions of terrorists who use their own civilians to target other civilians. The Sderot Media Center criticizes the NIF and Naomi Chazan. So are we that risk our lives day-in and day-out to show the world that rockets are targeting civilians, and whom the popular liberal newspaper Haaretz described as a “tiny organization that fights to make Sderot’s voice heard” — are we fascists? Our center runs a therapeutic drama program, in which traumatized high school girls share and express themselves with psychology professionals. Are these traumatized Sderot girls fascists?

If one reads the report put out by Im Tirtzu about the NIF paying for 77% of the Israeli condemning UN Goldstone Report, one will see how NIF paid more than half a million dollars to Physicians For Human Rights-Israel to send an Israeli condemning report to the Goldstone Committee that completely ignored the over 9,000 psychological patients in Sderot. This is just one example of the strategic financing of biased information that shaped the Goldstone Report.

If the public and donors of the New Israel Fund allow this organization to continue, it will be an upside-down “New Israel” where girls expressing their trauma are considered fascists and a democracy is where children are put through terrorist training and used as human shields.

I guess, along with an invitation to last week’s Islamic Revolution anniversary rally in Teheran, our New Israel Fund check got lost in the mail.

As a new immigrant to Israel about to enter the army and living in Sderot, I have some questions.

As an oleh chadash (new immigrant) that came to land of the Jewish people not due to persecution or suffering but because of deep-rooted beliefs in Zionism, like many I have a big problem with all the latest discussions over Gilad Shalit.

As an oleh chadash that has recently received a profile score of 97 to serve my mandatory army service in a combat unit, and as an oleh chadash that for the past year has lived in the Gaza border city of Sderot I have an enormous problem with the latest discussions over Gilad Shalit.

I do not hold some seat in the government with some fancy title but I know what is going on now is wrong and it pains me to watch it happen.

Why is the discussion during the past week about how many terrorists we are going to give Hamas, Fatah, and the PA as a whole for Gilad’s return? Why isn’t the discussion about how we are going to make Hamas pay a huge price for the kidnapping of Gilad or about a plan to retrieve him?

Because we simply have entered into the Arabs’ shuk of hostage negotiating they have already declared a victory that will only empower them to kidnap more soldiers. It is laughable if one believes that they care if they get back 400, 1000, 980 or even 5 of their terrorists because they are in no way lacking numbers, and moreover as they use their own sons and daughters as human shields they clearly don’t value the lives of those they are receiving.

After a 21 day operation inside the Gaza Strip and we didn’t see Gilad back home, and now with our government, providing our enemies with the future opportunities to kidnap more of our sons and brothers- what am I supposed to think as someone soon entering the Israeli Defense Forces for ideological reasons when I know that my homeland won’t rescue me and will minimally take over 3 years to trade me only at the cost of future capture of others like me?

As someone living in Sderot since Operation Cast Lead it is hard to believe that this cowardly surrender to our enemies will bring anything but more missiles to more cities in Israel. It is awing to me when even the Defense Minister Ehud Barak has accepted the reality of rockets in our lives when last week in Sderot he described the situation as quiet. Friday before Shabbat we surpassed a count of 280 qassams, mortars and grads fired since Operation Cast Lead- apparently an acceptable amount to our elected leaders.

So what am I supposed to think as someone who lives in Sderot for the same ideological reasons that I have come to my homeland and will serve in our army, when I know our government is giving our enemies the opportunity to fire more missiles at me and others like me?

Can we really not get Gilad back with our infamous intelligence sources, stealth, and military training? Or has our government already sacrificed him and others to be so that they can get political points with all the world on-lookers and as a result maybe Bibi can also get a handout Nobel Peace Prize?

While all of this is happening and is considered a movement toward a greater peace deal, are we really supposed to believe it is all because of that scary hot-topic term “settlements.” Sderot, Ashkelon, and Beersheva are all targets of missile attacks that are not considered “settlements” by our administration or the Obama led American administration. Gilad Shalit was born in Nahariya and grew up in Mitzpe Hila, both of which are not “settlements.” So how can disallowing the growth of the Jewish nation or what George Mitchell and Barack Obama deem illegal settlement building really help bring Gilad home, stop the future capture of Israelis, and stop missiles from being fired at Israelis?

I do not intend to be facetious in writing all these questions but I am truly asking. As an oleh chadash soon entering the IDF and living in Sderot, what I am observing baffles me and leaves me with a load of questions.
