ObamaCare Individual Mandate Will Never Take Effect Under Obama

It's supposed to make the people complaining go away

Obama isn't getting rid of his wholly illegal individual mandate. Instead he's making it easy for people to opt out for the most of the rest of his time in office. And then it will become a ticking present for Hillary Clinton.

Supporters optimistically assume that the cost is being passed on to the insurance companies, which wanted the mandate, but the insurance companies will be bailed out by taxpayers. So we're right back to where we started.

The uninsured are not signing up. The penalty that was supposed to force them to sign up is being buried. The only real impact of ObamaCare has been on those who already had insurance, who now have to pay more, except for those who can escape into Medicaid, and seniors who are facing escalating cuts to Medicare.

That seven-page technical bulletin includes a paragraph and footnote that casually mention that a rule in a separate December 2013 bulletin would be extended for two more years, until 2016. Lo and behold, it turns out this second rule, which was supposed to last for only a year, allows Americans whose coverage was cancelled to opt out of the mandate altogether…

But amid the post-rollout political backlash, last week the agency created a new category: Now all you need to do is fill out a form attesting that your plan was cancelled and that you “believe that the plan options available in the [ObamaCare] Marketplace in your area are more expensive than your cancelled health insurance policy” or “you consider other available policies unaffordable.”

This lax standard—no formula or hard test beyond a person’s belief—at least ostensibly requires proof such as an insurer termination notice.

In other words, the new and improved “hardship” exemption isn’t limited to people who used to have insurance. Anyone can claim it, purely on their own say-so that they can’t afford it, which is an … interesting loophole coming from a guy who’s now going around the country nudging people to drop their cable and cell phones to pay for his expensive insurance instead.

It's an admission without the admission. It's supposed to make the people complaining go away uninsured without acknowledging their grievance.

Obama is slyly kicking the mandate can over to Hillary who during the campaign actually backed a mandate. Obama who didn't back the mandate intends to pass the blame for it to Hillary.

It's a typically cynical gambit.
