With another hearing tentatively planned for next week, will Rep. Trey Gowdy play his cards?

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Wood was the commander of the 16-man Special Forces security detail at the U.S. embassy in Tripoli, Libya, until the State Department ordered him and his men home on August 5, 2012 and never replaced them.

Despite repeated pleas from Ambassador Chris Stevens and his State Department security officers in Tripoli that they remain in Libya, Washington wouldn’t listen.

Colonel Wood remains perplexed at what happened on the night Ambassador Stevens was murdered, and in a recent conversation, recalled a similar event in June 2012 when the British ambassador came under RPG attack while visiting Benghazi.

“When I went to help the British ambassador, we got to the scene faster than the CIA team did on September 11. I went over to the CIA Annex, waited for the 18 Delta medic to grab his kit, then left immediately,” he told me.

“Why would they say ‘get over there as quick as you can’ when the British ambassador gets attacked, and say ‘wait’ when it’s our own ambassador?” he wondered.

And yet, that’s the behavior former deputy CIA Director Mike Morell told the House intelligence committee was “a very prudent decision.”

Their report was welcomed by the national media as the final nail in the coffin of Republican-led Congressional investigations.

Many conservatives have been pushing for Rep. Trey Gowdy (R, SC) to play his cards, even as his investigators continue to conduct their probe far from the media spotlight.

The Washington Post has already proclaimed Gowdy’s investigation “superfluous,” and last week blasted “unfounded conspiracy theories” propounded by Republicans for distracting from the “big mistake in Libya policy… [which] was President Obama’s refusal to support the new government’s attempt to build security after he helped topple the nation’s longtime dictator.”

In Gruberesque fashion, the Post failed to mention that Ambassador Stephens was still talking to Prime Minister candidates for the “new government” on the day he was brutally murdered, as his Diary shows.

But hey, what difference do the facts make when there’s a presidential campaign afoot? The Post and other members of the Hillary Clinton support society (aka the national media) have demonstrated they will spare no ink, tar, or feathers to besmirch anyone who gets close to the truth, and will pass up no opportunity to claim this investigation over before it’s even begun.

That’s why Gowdy must (and is) treading carefully as he navigates the labyrinthine minefield constructed by partisan hacks and entrenched bureaucrats to hide the truth.

One of the first things Gowdy did was to hire a three-star U.S. Army general as his chief counsel. Lieutenant General Dana Chipman had just stepped down as the Judge Advocate General (JAG) for the United States Army, where in his own words he had led “a legal enterprise consisting of 5,000 personnel in 600 offices in 20 countries.”

Prior to that, General Chipman was the chief lawyer for U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command, stepping into that hot seat in June 2003 just as U.S. forces switched from liberators to occupiers in Iraq.

The three stars on Chipman’s shoulderboards give him the authority to candidly question anyone in the military chain of command that night without concerns more junior officers might have about disputing the wisdom of an order from on high.

Many in the military have been asking why reinforcements weren’t flown in from Croatia, where a fifty-man U.S. Army counter-terrorism/hostage-rescue unit known as C-110 was on a military training mission.

C-110 was the Commanders In-Extremis Force (CIF) for European Command, a rapid reaction force capable of getting men and equipment into their C-130s to respond to a crisis in somewhere between two to six hours.

Because C-110 was slated to become the Africom CIF on October 1, Africom commanders were intimately aware of its capabilities, and its current position – roughly two hours flight time from Benghazi. But instead of flying directly to Benghazi, C-110 was told to stage en route at Sigonella Naval Air Station in Sicily, Italy, where it stopped.

The diversion order was given from the Pentagon, not by Africom headquarters in Stuttgart. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Martin Dempsey, has claimed in Congressional testimony that the earliest C-110 could have left Croatia was 6 AM the morning of September 12th – a statement disputed by members of the unit who have spoken anonymously to the media.

Were the commanders of this powerful hostage-rescue unit champing at the bit but told to stand down? If so, by who? And why?

We know the official reasons why C-110 was not sent. Africom commander General Carter Ham and his subordinates have all testified that in the “fog of war” they believed they were facing a situation similar to the 1979 Tehran hostage crisis and needed more time to gather intelligence and plan a hostage rescue operation.

But General Ham also told Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who is slated to succeed Rep. Darrell Issa as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee, that he never sent boots onto the ground in Benghazi because the State Department “never asked.”

That explanation was buttressed by testimony from Brigadier General Robert Lovell, the Africom deputy director for intelligence (J2), this past May, where he explained that in the spirit of “expeditionary” diplomacy – a favorite Hillary Clinton term – the military was “waiting for a request for assistance from the State Department” before moving reinforcements into Libya.

The answer to this question could help determine who bears the responsibility for leaving brave four men to die that night.

Did the desire to demonstrate that Obama was “not Bush” drive the administration to abandon any recourse to military action? We know that Hillary Clinton was so obsessed by not deploying boots on the ground in Libya that she ordered Colonel Wood and his 16-man Special Forces unit guarding Ambassador Stevens to never appear in public in uniform, not even their boots, until her underlings told them to leave Libya on August 5, 2012 altogether.

We also know that Mrs. Clinton issued two very specific stand-down orders on the night of September 11, 2012:

• She refused to convene the counterterrorism Security Group (CSG), the only structured, experienced interagency reaction team that could have decided which resources of the government were available for immediate deployment, despite pleas from a top counter-terrorism advisor, Mark Thompson.

• She refused to activate the State Department-led Foreign Emergency “Support Team (FEST), an extraordinary operational unit whose sole purpose was to rescue U.S. diplomats under attack.

Her entire effort that night and ever since has been to draw as little attention as possible to U.S. government activities in Benghazi. What was she trying to hide?

Deeper in the Benghazi labyrinth lies the true mission of the CIA Annex, whose security team ultimately came to the rescue of the besieged diplomats after the CIA Chief of Base in Benghazi told them to “stand down” for a fatal twenty-one minutes – longer than Lt.Col. Andy Wood had to wait for his 18 Delta medic before aiding the British ambassador three months earlier.

In the House intelligence committee report, the cause of recent gloating by Hillary Clinton’s media fans, the discussion of the CIA’s mission in Benghazi is largely redacted, with Members of Congress warned that they are not cleared to know what the CIA was doing there.

The Africom Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Richard Landolt, told Congressional investigators that he and his fellow Africom commanders “were not aware” of the CIA Annex until the night it was under attack– an extraordinary admission. “I guess it was in their interest to keep it to as few people as necessary,” he told me.

Now, it is just possible that the folks at the CIA Annex were baking brownies for the local Islamic scouts. Or it is possible that they were engaged in activities the administration still finds too embarrassing – or politically too dangerous – to discuss, such as overseeing an arms transfer operation to the Syrian rebels being conducted by “liaison services.”

The American people deserve answers that only Gowdy and his committee are now in a position to provide.

- Was Congress fully and properly briefed on the activities of the CIA in Benghazi? Was the CIA operating under Presidential findings for the Global War on Terror signed by President George W. Bush? Or more recent presidential findings signed by President Obama?

- What was the status of the State Department’s program to collect surface-to-air missiles (MANPADS) “missing” from Qaddafi’s arsenal, and what role was the CIA Annex assigned to that program?

- After Ambassador Stevens and his Country team were briefed on Iran’s support for Ansar al-Sharia in June 2012, how many intelligence reports did the CIA or other agencies file warning about the activities of the Iranian Special Forces (Quds Force) officers who were on the ground in Benghazi?

- Was the State Department concerned that exposing Iran’s role in the Benghazi attacks would sabotage ongoing nuclear negotiations?

- Who specifically carried out the precision mortar attack that killed CIA security officers Glen Doherty and Ty Woods and severely wounded Mark Geiss and State Department security officer David Ubben? Where were those individuals trained and by whom?

- Where is the paper trail documenting the initial State Department statement issued at 10:08 pm on the night of September 11, 2012, blaming the attacks on a Youtube video, which was contrary to all reporting from U.S. embassy and CIA sources on the ground?

Until now, the State Department and the CIA have swept all of these questions aside or given answers aimed at blaming the dead, and the sympathetic headline in the national media went something like this: Benghazi “sheep” committed suicide, wolf declares.

It’s time for the truth. Trey Gowdy, press on!

"If we would have not been delayed... we would have saved the ambassador’s life."

Who are you going to believe, a D.C. committee or the men on the ground. That’s always been the question.

The top ranking diplomat in Libya and the men on the ground who went public have always been clear about what happened in Benghazi. The various coverups and whitewashing has always come from various committees in Washington.

Media Matters and the media have kept referring to any criticism of what happened in Benghazi as a conspiracy theory. Their conspiracy theory is that the people on the ground who risked their lives are engaged in some sort of conspiracy and the only truth comes from Washington committees.

Now after the latest whitewashing report from the House Intel Committee, the men on the ground are standing by their statements.

During the Book TV interview, Paronto and Mark “Oz” Geist, who also co-wrote the book (along with Mark Teigen, who attended the interview but did not appear on camera), explained that it took them over an hour to get to the consulate from the time they heard about the attack. Asked why it took so long for them to reach the scene Paronto said, “That’s the million dollar question.”

Paronto stood by the claim made in the book that they were ordered to stand down, a claim that was disputed in this week’s House Intelligence Committee report. “We were told to stand down. We were delayed for approximately 27 minutes on our compound,” he said. “We do not know, as far as outside of our chain of command outside Libya, where that came from. We know that the stand down orders and the waits and the delays came from Libya. Came from chief of station, chief of base. Whether it came from anybody higher, we don’t answer that. We don’t know. And we’d like to know, but we have no idea.”

A caller from Sanford, Florida, accused the men of lying about the Obama administration to boost book sales, saying that House Intelligence Committee report proved they were not telling the truth.

“Ma’am,” Paronto said, “during the House intel subcommittee I looked at Mike Rogers in the eyes and I said, ‘If we would have not been delayed — which, we were delayed three times — that we would have saved the ambassador’s life and Sean Smith’s life.’” He added, “Why he came out with the report, I don’t know what to tell you on that. You’re going to have to ask him. What we said in the book is what happened on the ground and that is the truth.”

The “stand down” controversy is one of those lawyeresque arguments meant to obscure the facts. The House Intel Committee’s report concedes that rescue operations were delayed but claims that this was not standing down, but a delay.

The media never actually explains the issue because then their whole argument collapses into a Clintonesque “definition of is” technicality. So instead they claim that the “stand down order” was disproven. Meanwhile the House Intel Committee’s report largely disregards the testimony of the people on the ground and turns in the same nonsense about CIA protest talking points and “strategic delays” as before.

Business as usual in Washington D.C. where men are sent out to die and their deaths are then whitewashed.

Good news. It's no one's fault.

The House Intelligence Committee’s Final Benghazi Report is a whitewash. That’s why the media is currently running around turning cartwheels and misrepresenting the report.

But let’s clear up some myths about the report.

To quote from its introduction, “the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the Benghazi attacks focused on the Intelligence Community’s activities before, during, and after the attacks in Benghazi… The Committee did receive evidence about the activities of the Defense Department, State Department, and White House personnel, which are explained in both the report and the additional views. But the Committee does not make final conclusions about other agencies to the extent they were not the focus of the Committee’s investigation.”

While the media is treating this as some sort of conclusive overall report, it’s a look at the actions of the CIA.

That said, the report is a joke. I have no idea why it was even released. It’s a meaningless collection of statements undercut within that same report. Here’s another example from the introduction.

“The committee finds that a mixed group of individuals including those affiliated with Al Qaeda, participated in the attacks on US facilities in Benghazi, although the Committee finds that the intelligence was and remains conflicting about the identities, affiliations and motivations of the attackers.”

That entire sentence nullifies itself.

The report is filled with such self-nullifying conclusions in which the conclusion can be summed up as “Uh.”

The report concludes that there was no intelligence failure because there was no specific warning that an attack would occur on September 11. Aside from the “stream of contradictory and conflicting intelligence” afterward.

Again the media is wildly misrepresenting this to mean that everything is okay. The report does not say that everything is okay.

The report does mention inadequate State Department security. That much even the State Department’s own report conceded.

Finally there’s the “stand down order” issue which is what Media Matters and their ilk will be focused on.

The “stand down” order was always a red herring since simply preventing personnel from going to the rescue is not considered a stand down order. This has become a legalistic technicality means to suppress the facts.

Here’s what the highest ranking US diplomat said happened.

In an interview with the House Oversight and Reform Committee last month, Greg Hicks, deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in Libya during the attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, recalled his conversations with Libyan government officials and U.S. military leaders as he tried to get support to U.S. diplomatic and intelligence officials under attack in Benghazi.

“So Lieutenant Colonel Gibson, who is the SOCAFRICA commander, his team, you know, they were on their way to the vehicles to go to the airport to get on the C‑130 when he got a phone call from SOCAFRICA which said, ‘you can’t go now, you don’t have authority to go now,’’ Hicks recalled. “And so they missed the flight.”

Pushed to clarify whether they second rescue missed flight because they were told not to take it, Hicks responded: “They were told not to board the flight, so they missed it.”

Hicks remembers Gibson saying: “I have never been so embarrassed in my life that a State Department officer has bigger balls than somebody in the military.”

No 0ne is denying this happened. Now here’s where the debate over the “stand down order” kicks in. Here’s how General Dempsey explained it.

“They weren’t told to stand down. A `stand down’ means don’t do anything,” he said. “They were told that the mission they were asked to perform was not in Benghazi, but was at Tripoli airport.”

So when the report denies the existence of a stand down order, this is what it’s really saying.

Back to Benghazi, again, same old story. In the heavily massaged words of the report, “There were mere tactical disagreements about the speed with which the team should depart.”

Why?

“Some Annex members wanted to urgently depart the Annex for the TMF to save their State Department colleagues.

There you have it. No stand down order. Just “tactical disagreements” and “strategic patience” and all the rest. And four dead Americans.

I would delve into the claims about the “protest” talking points, but plenty of other people will be doing that. And I only have so much of an appetite for digging through bureaucratese in government coverups. Which is what this once again is.

If only it had been something important, like getting the IRS to target his political opponents, he would have had it all done yesterday instead of waiting until it was too late.

As early as May, the Obama administration had strong and specific information about the location of American James Foley and other hostages held in Syria, a source close to the discussions told Fox News, but the rescue mission was not approved until early July.

“We had a lot of really good information on where they were being held, very specific information,” said the source, who agreed to discuss the details on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The source added that the Islamic State captors felt so secure in their stronghold of Raqqa, Syria, that the hostages were moved between only a handful of locations. By late spring, the American and British hostages had been held for at least three weeks in one facility.

Other sources backed up the account provided to Fox News. The timeline seems to conflict with administration claims that the White House signed off on the operation as soon as the intelligence allowed.

“The intelligence is never bullet-proof,” a former military official said. “When they [the rescue team] finally did go, the general view was that the intelligence was drying up. … These guys were ready to go, on a lower threshold [for the intelligence than the White House] … We want the American people to know we are there for them, and ready to go 24 hours a day.”

Similar delays may have cost lives in Benghazi. It’s part of a pattern of slow approvals routed through too many White House staffers with no military experience.

Now we have Susan Rice running the war against ISIS with predictably disastrous results. Americans under fire in Benghazi didn’t receive help because of repeated enforced delays. Woods and Doherty died because they defied orders and advanced anyway.

It’s sad that we have gotten to the point where the only way to save American lives is for military personnel and contractors to defy orders.

Michael Bay (Transformers, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon) is in talks to direct 13 Hours based on the Mitchell Zuckoff book “13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi” which leaned on interviews with the men who were there.

The book is a ground level account of events. It tried to avoid the debates about Hillary Clinton and Obama by focusing narrowly on the personnel. It did however address the delayed response.

The White House has long maintained, for instance, that no one was prevented from coming to the aid of the diplomats and security officials under attack at the compound. But the CIA contractors describe in agonizing detail how they were forced by their base chief to wait at the CIA annex before responding to the desperate pleas for help from their countrymen a half-mile away. “If you don’t get here soon, we’re all going to die!” one of the Americans trapped at the compound said over the radio.

After waiting in idle vehicles for several minutes, fully dressed and armed for battle, one contractor shouts to the CIA base chief: “Hey, we gotta go now! We’re losing the initiative!” The base chief, on the phone trying to get a local militia to respond instead, replies: “No, stand down, you need to wait.” Eventually the team grew so frustrated they defied the chief’s orders and raced to the fighting.

…

The Obama administration has abandoned its claims that the attacks grew out of protests in front of the facility—a wise move considering that the CIA contractors who drove past the compound around 8:30 p.m. report that “all was quiet.” It continues to maintain, though, that an Internet video played a role in triggering the attacks. The contractors “neither saw nor heard anything to suggest that anyone in Benghazi was upset about an offensive YouTube video clip from an anti-Muslim movie.”

It’s certainly dramatic stuff. And it looks set to be a high profile movie. The timing could very well make this a pre-election movie.

The question is what is that movie going to look like. Bay has a bit of a Republican rep, but he’s mostly apolitical and met with Obama. It’s being produced by Erwin Stoff who is a reliable Dem donor and seemingly donated to the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

The actual script was written by Chuck Hogan who appears to have donated to Elizabeth Warren. On Twitter he has claimed that, “No BS politics in the book, just an account of actual American heroes.”

Whether he’ll bring any politics into it is open to question. His Twitter feed makes it clear that he really hates Republicans. There’s no doubt that Hillary’s people are going to be concerned and attempt to influence a movie that could have an impact on their candidate even if it never mentions her name. And by Hillary people, we’re talking Media Matters and the extensive David Brock network which already managed to shut down a Hillary series on one of the big three networks and a Hillary doc on CNN.

Best case scenario, the movie doesn’t add in any nonsense about a YouTube video, doesn’t change the book’s account of the fact that they rushed in despite being held back and doesn’t hide the fact that the mission was never properly protected.

Worst case scenario, it makes Hillary into the hero. That’s why it’s important to keep an eye on the project and be quick to debunk it.

That’s good news.

I was worried somebody might to be blame for the murder of four Americans, including the US ambassador to Libya, in a poorly secured compound that was supposed to be protected by a terrorist militia that wasn’t actually being paid in the middle of a city run by terrorists… after support forces were repeatedly told not to come to the aid of the Americans under attack.

Also nobody is to blame for claiming that the whole thing was caused by a YouTube video.

But it’s all nobody’s fault. That’s such a relief. We should just MoveOn and elect Hillary to do for American national security what she did for it in Benghazi. Just ask the CIA Director/Secretary of Defense/Hillary 2016 man who was in a position to know.

Appearing on the Diane Rehm show, Panetta declared “nobody is to blame for Benghazi.”

No, I certainly have not seen any evidence, in my experience did not experience anybody who lied about what took place. One of the things that happened, that created the controversy were the talking points that CIA had developed that indicated that it was a demonstration that got out of hand. I’m not quite sure why they came to that conclusion. It certainly wasn’t my sense at the time. But they looked at the intelligence and that’s where they came [out]. I think those talking points were wrong. I think they probably should have — the talking points should have said we are investigating this matter and we have not determined exactly what happened. That should have been the talking points.

Panetta is still lying. The CIA talking points were originally correct. The CIA’s intel was correct. It was the White House and State that massaged the talking points into a lie.

But it’s not his fault that he’s lying. He just wants Hillary to give him a job.

This is big and the media will go on ignoring it.

Sharyl Attkisson left CBS so she could cover stories like this. Once again we have a top State Department official going on the record about misconduct and once again the media will erect its blank wall of silence.

As the House Select Committee on Benghazi prepares for its first hearing this week, a former State Department diplomat is coming forward with a startling allegation: Hillary Clinton confidants were part of an operation to “separate” damaging documents before they were turned over to the Accountability Review Board investigating security lapses surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya.

According to former Deputy Assistant Secretary Raymond Maxwell, the after-hours session took place over a weekend in a basement operations-type center at State Department headquarters in Washington, D.C. This is the first time Maxwell has publicly come forward with the story.

At the time, Maxwell was a leader in the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), which was charged with collecting emails and documents relevant to the Benghazi probe.

He didn’t know it then, but Maxwell would ultimately become one of four State Department officials singled out for discipline—he says scapegoated—then later cleared for devastating security lapses leading up to the attacks. Four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were murdered during the Benghazi attacks.

Maxwell goes on to describe the session. He’s a State Department professional and African-American. He was a strong Obama supporter. He certainly doesn’t have anything to gain now by talking about it. He has a great deal to lose.

The ARB was already a scam because it was a case of the fox investigating the case of the henhouse, but even worse Hillary’s people made sure that the board would only see what they wanted it to. This multilevel paranoia is very indicative of Hillary’s mindset.

“She told me, ‘Ray, we are to go through these stacks and pull out anything that might put anybody in the [Near Eastern Affairs] front office or the seventh floor in a bad light,’” says Maxwell. He says “seventh floor” was State Department shorthand for then-Secretary of State Clinton and her principal advisors.

“I asked her, ‘But isn’t that unethical?’ She responded, ‘Ray, those are our orders.’ ”

And the media also has its orders.

Several weeks after he was placed on leave with no formal accusations, Maxwell made an appointment to address his status with a State Department ombudsman.

“I told her that ‘My name is on TV and I’m on administrative leave, it seems like it’s about me.’ Then she said, ‘You’re not harmed, you’re still getting paid. Don’t watch TV. Take your wife on a cruise. It’s not about you; it’s about Hillary and 2016.”

A potential smoking gun emerges on the tragic anniversary.

Questions about the Obama administration’s decision to let helpless Americans die in the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya two years ago won’t go away anytime soon.

But that won’t stop former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who desperately wants to be the next president, from trying to make the whole Benghazi episode that happened under her watch go away. So far the Clinton operation isn’t working.

Charles Woods, father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who died trying to fend off the Islamist attack, said he can’t understand why the Obama administration won’t answer even the most basic questions about what happened in Libya on Sept. 11, 2012.

“When a mission is compromised, the warriors, they know they will be extracted,” said Woods, who was also a Navy SEAL himself. “During all of the hours that this attack happened, there was no attempt made to rescue.”

The Obama administration’s refusal to launch such a rescue mission stands in stark contrast to its willingness to swap Bowe Bergdahl, a U.S. soldier who defected to the Taliban in Afghanistan, for five members of the terrorist high command. The White House and Secretary of State John Kerry justify the cynical Bergdahl transaction by loudly proclaiming that it is U.S. policy never to leave a man behind.

But to President Obama, it is standing policy to leave Americans to their doom when a rescue mission interferes with reelection plans. At the time of the attack, the Obama White House made a conscious, calculated decision to let American officials perish overseas, fully expecting the incurious pro-Obama media to ignore what really happened.

In the midst of a heated reelection campaign, Obama had claimed al-Qaeda was decimated and on the verge of annihilation. When it turned out the terrorist organization was doing just fine, he decided to scapegoat a YouTube video instead of admitting that al-Qaeda was roaring back, stronger than ever, under his watch.

For two weeks after the attack the Obama administration said over and over again that the incident in Benghazi was inspired by a low-quality anti-Islam video on YouTube. The American resident who made the video that virtually no one watched was jailed on the thinnest of legal pretexts after then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton vowed to grieving relatives over the flag-draped remains of the four dead men to get the video maker she claimed caused the attacks. White House adviser Susan Rice went on TV to back up the administration’s lie that the assault was related to a video. Eventually the administration acknowledged it was a terrorist attack.

During the attack, U.S. forces were in place in nearby Sicily, an hour or so away by air, but the order to fly to Benghazi in an attempt to rescue the besieged staff at the complex never came. That order was never issued by President Obama, because he knew it would reveal his policy of appeasement towards Islamic totalitarians to be in shambles as the Middle East and North Africa fell into the hands of America’s enemies.

“We still do not have the answers we need — the truthful answers we need as to why these American heroes were left to die,” Woods said at a press conference yesterday just outside the U.S. Capitol.

Today is the second anniversary of the election-season terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, and the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

The White House has been stonewalling ever since the attack started in Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, first advancing the false narrative that the assault had something to do with an anti-Islam video nobody saw. After the lie that incensed locals spontaneously came together to hit the consulate fell apart, the Obama administration has been blame-shifting furiously.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said the controversy won’t go away till answers are forthcoming.

“Now some are tempted to ask, ‘What difference at this point does it make,’” Gohmert said, echoing the infamous comment uttered by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as she attempted to deflect responsibility for the deaths of four Americans killed during the Benghazi attack.

“And the answer should come swift and clear anytime it’s asked, because until we know what happened, we can’t avoid the same mistakes in the future,” he said.

The Obama administration “is following the example that was learned in the Clinton years, that if you keep refusing to provide documents, keep refusing to give answers, then eventually you can get to the point where you can say that’s old news,” Gohmert said.

“And the mainstream media can sometimes be compliant and say ‘Well it is old news,’” he said. “Well, it’s not old news because we still don’t have the answers.”

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said internal State Department documents have surfaced that show that three months before the Benghazi attack security guards were fleeing their posts “out of fear of their safety.” Those documents consisted of emails obtained by Judicial Watch under the the Freedom of Information Act, which is “at this time, is the best way to get information out of this administration — an administration that is committed to secrecy and stonewalling on something that would have taken down previous administrations,” Fitton said. “Which is the lying by a president and his officials, to protect his reelection, about a terrorist attack that killed four Americans.”

In an exclusive interview with FrontPage magazine after the press conference, Fitton said the narrative invented by White House aide Ben Rhodes after the attack “was used to guide [Ambassador] Susan Rice in her appearances on the Sunday morning talk shows” after Sept. 11, 2012.

The Rhodes narrative was crafted to make the president look good, not to provide an honest accounting of what happened in Benghazi, Fitton said.

“But other emails also released along with the Rhodes email show as the attack was happening, the State Department, presumably Susan Rice and people around her, were getting real-time information, they were concerned about a kidnapping, there was talk of an attack, no talk of demonstrations, no talk of videos.”

“It was what it was, which was an attack,” he said. The government had intelligence at the time that someone using the ambassador’s phone, issued by the State Department security operation, who was calling from the hospital saying that Stevens was alive and well.”

If the ambassador was alive and well at the hospital, why wasn’t an attempt made to rescue him, Fitton asked rhetorically.

“That piece of information is as outrageous as anything else we found, including the Rhodes email, because it showed the State Department had intelligence the ambassador was alive and nothing was done to rescue him we now know.”

And the American people still don’t know what Chris Stevens was doing in Benghazi, helpless and far away from his home base in the capital city of Tripoli.

One plausible theory is that Stevens may have been overseeing some kind of covert Obama-authorized weapon-smuggling operation in Libya.

Stevens was “gun-running to jihadists,” investigative reporter Aaron Klein told radio host Michael Savage yesterday. Klein is author of the soon-to-be-released book,The Real Benghazi Story: What the White House and Hillary Don’t Want You To Know.

How Stevens died remains a mystery. Although last month the Obama administration rushed to order a completely superfluous federal autopsy on the body of teenaged hoodlum Michael Brown that added nothing new to what was known about how the Ferguson, Mo.-based cop-attacker died, the Obama administration hasn’t released autopsy results for Stevens.

Like the deposed Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi, the ambassador was savagely sexually abused and murdered by adherents of the so-called religion of peace, according to news reports at the time that the Obama administration has not refuted.

Whether Americans will ever find out the truth while President Obama remains in power remains an open question.

TRANSCRIPT:

PRESIDENT COWARD

Hi everybody. I’m Bill Whittle and this is the Firewall.

For those of us who were not familiar with ISIS – the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria – the savage beheading of American journalist James Foley – certainly made the introduction.

Speaking after the brutal execution, President Obama had this to say about his ISIS murderers:

No just god would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day.

God may not stand for it, but the most powerful man on the Earth – Barack Obama – certainly did.

Today, the American people will all say a prayer for those who loved Jim. All of us feel the ache of his absence. All of us morn his loss. We keep in our prayers those other Americans who are separated from their families. And we will do everything that we can to protect our people and the timeless values that we stand for.

And we will do everything that we can to protect our people and the timeless values that we stand for.* Asterisk. See below…

Because what President Obama neglected to tell the American people that day – before returning to the golf course – was that there is in fact an unread condition attached to his statement that he will “protect our people and the timeless values that we stand for.” What he meant to say was he will “protect our people and the timeless values that we stand for…” so long as there is no risk of adversely affecting his poll numbers.

Because a month and a half before James Foley had his head sawed off, a team of Special Forces operatives were flying through the darkness on a mission to rescue Foley and other western hostages. And it wasn’t just any evening. It was just after midnight on the Fourth of July.

For thirty days President Obama delayed this mission. Thirty Days. It was June when US Intelligence had solid intelligence of the location of Foley and other captives, but it was also well understood that ISIS, like all terrorist organizations, constantly moves hostages in order to prevent raids like the one that was finally launched after four weeks of hesitation.

Why the delay? Well, President Coward was worried that a failed mission would leave him, in the words of his advisors, “Carterized” – recalling the catastrophic failure to rescue the Iranian hostages in 1980. And so Barack Obama, with actionable intelligence on the location of James Foley and the full understanding that such information is fleeting, dithered and vacillated and golfed and weighed the pros and cons and golfed and delayed and asked more questions and golfed and considered the political fallout from a failed mission as he golfed.

Finally he gave the go-head, on the condition that the raid take place on the Fourth of July so that, if successful, he could make the announcement to major fanfare on the nation’s birthday.

Delta and SEAL team operators leapt out of their specially modified, low radar cross-section Blackhawk helicopters. Up to 15 ISIS fighters emerged from the building to meet them, and their wish to die for Allah was granted by an orbiting AC130 gunship. As US warriors secured the compound, lead elements breached the doors to where the captives – including James Foley – were being held. The room was empty. Foley, his murderers, and other hostages had been moved.

Recently.

And this wasn’t the first time President Coward left people to die because of fear of what a failed attempt might to his poll numbers and personal glory.

On the evening of September 11th, 2012, at about 4pm Eastern time, reports began to come in of an attack on the Consulate in Benghazi. By 5:10pm, an unmanned surveillance drone was providing real-time video of the ongoing firefight at the compound. And yet, almost immediately, the White House issued a direct order to FEST – the Foreign Emergency Support Team, a highly-trained, well-armed extraction squad standing by at various locations around the world for this exact contingency – to stand down.

We need to be crystal clear on this. It’s not that President Obama failed to give the order for these men to get into their helicopters and go and try to rescue Ambassador Chris Stevens and the rest of “our people and the timeless values they stand for.” Those men were in the helicopters. They were, unlike the president, mentally and operationally prepared and ready to go and defend American civilians from these murderers and savages. President Coward told them to shut down the engines and sent these warriors back to their bunks, because he was afraid of what a botched attempt might do his image. He had an election coming up, and priorities are priorities, after all. So he watched, on TV, in real time, as former SEALS Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods ran from safety towards the sound of gunfire and fought off scores of heavily armed enemy fighters for six hours, their laser target designators on the enemy mortar position that eventually killed them, looking up to the sky not only to a just God but awaiting help from a President who was watching them die. And they did die, of course, at which point President Coward joined the FEST operators in retiring for the evening, getting a good nights sleep for the next day’s fundraiser in Vegas. Reports are that the men who were in the helicopters, ready, and as it turned out, able to save Doherty and Woods did not sleep quite as well.

Oh, and one more thing. The signature Obama success in the war on Terror – the raid that killed Osama bin Laden – was delayed for what appears to be about 100 days, as President Coward weighed the consequences of the failure of such a raid. He was, according to several independent accounts, essentially overruled by the Secretaries of Defense and State who insisted that somebody took action before Bin Laden was tipped off and vanished once again. That’s why Obama is sitting in the back of the room like the Pizza delivery boy in the iconic shot of the Operation. He just popped in from the golf course to see how things were coming along.

Put aside – if you are able – the monumental narcissism, selfishness and moral cowardice of this man, and focus for a moment on just how disconnected he really is from the people that elected him. All we want is a leader – a leader, not a self-obsessed moral coward – who will use the most powerful and capable military in the history of the world “to protect our people and the timeless values they represent” without that ever-present asterisk of “so long as there is no chance of making me look bad.”

We’re kind of past that point now, Mr. President — don’t you think?

Clintonworld and its Media Matters outlet made the “Stand Down” order the linchpin of their claim that Benghazi was a hoax. Of course it’s all a matter of defining “Stand Down”.

US personnel in both Benghazi and in Tripoli were told not to proceed to the rescue. Debating whether that qualifies as a “Stand Down” order or not is miring the issue in pointless technicalities.

The latter was confirmed by the highest ranking US diplomat in Libya at the time who paid the price for blowing the whistle.

In an interview with the House Oversight and Reform Committee last month, Greg Hicks, deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in Libya during the attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, recalled his conversations with Libyan government officials and U.S. military leaders as he tried to get support to U.S. diplomatic and intelligence officials under attack in Benghazi…

In the hours that followed, Hicks says, the Libyan military agreed to fly a C-130 from Tripoli to Benghazi in the early morning hours of September 12 – a flight that was to include a second team of Special Operations soldiers – dispatched from the Libyan capital to join a team sent earlier to Benghazi. But as those reinforcements were leaving for the flight, they were told to stand down. Hicks received the news in an early morning phone call from a top military commander in the region.

General Dempsey attempted to lie rather clumsily about it. Again hinging on the technicalities.

“They weren’t told to stand down. A `stand down’ means don’t do anything,” he said. “They were told that the mission they were asked to perform was not in Benghazi, but was at Tripoli airport.”

So yeah. The “Stand Down” order was a big hoax. Just ask David Brock.

We had previous sources discussing how US personnel in Benghazi were told not to go and how the two murdered ex-SEALS defied them. Now we have names and faces to go with those sources.

A U.S. security team in Benghazi was held back from immediately responding to the attack on the American diplomatic mission on orders of the top CIA officer there, three of those involved told Fox News’ Bret Baier.

Based on the new book “13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi” by Mitchell Zuckoff with the Annex Security Team, the special sets aside the political spin that has freighted the Benghazi issue for the last two years, presenting a vivid, compelling narrative of events from the perspective of the men who wore the “boots on the ground.”

The security contractors — Kris (“Tanto”) Paronto, Mark (“Oz”) Geist, and John (“Tig”) Tiegen — spoke exclusively, and at length, to Fox News about what they saw and did that night. Baier, Fox News’ Chief Political Anchor, asked them about one of the most controversial questions arising from the events in Benghazi: Was help delayed?

Word of the attack on the diplomatic compound reached the CIA annex just after 9:30 p.m. Within five minutes, the security team at the annex was geared up for battle, and ready to move to the compound, a mile away.

“Five minutes, we’re ready,” said Paronto, a former Army Ranger. “It was thumbs up, thumbs up, we’re ready to go.”

But the team was held back. According to the security operators, they were delayed from responding to the attack by the top CIA officer in Benghazi, whom they refer to only as “Bob.”

“It had probably been 15 minutes I think, and … I just said, ‘Hey, you know, we gotta– we need to get over there, we’re losing the initiative,’” said Tiegen. “And Bob just looks straight at me and said, ‘Stand down, you need to wait.’”

“We’re starting to get calls from the State Department guys saying, ‘Hey, we’re taking fire, we need you guys here, we need help,’” said Paronto.

After a delay of nearly 30 minutes, the security team headed to the besieged consulate without orders. They asked their CIA superiors to call for armed air support, which never came.

Now we’ve got the words “Stand Down” being used as a direct quote. Maybe David Brock and Media Matters can explain their hoax.

Let me begin by acknowledging that this inspirational title is lifted from a tweet by screen actor James Woods. And now I will explicate his tweet.

Every sentient human being whose brain isn’t stuffed with ideological fairy dust can see that Obama is behind every major scandal of his administration from Benghazi to the I.R.S. disgrace. How can one know this? Because the culprits haven’t been fired. Moreover, if they are serial liars like Susan Rice, they’ve actually been promoted to posts where their loyalty to the criminal-in-chief can do America and its citizens even more damage, if that is possible.

A president faced with a scandal created by underlings behind his back would be naturally furious at their misbehavior, and want heads to roll. This didn’t happen in any of these scandals because their point of origin was the White House itself. Promoting the culprits is a way of keeping them quiet.

And what exactly is the I.R.S. scandal about — to take just one case? It’s a plan unprecedented in modern American politics to push the political system towards a one-party state by using the taxing authority of the government to cripple and destroy the political opposition. The administration’s campaign to promote voter fraud by opposing measures to stop it (and defaming them as “racist” is guided by the same intentions and desire.

And why shouldn’t Obama want to destroy the two-party system since he is also in utter contempt of the Constitutional framework, making law illegally, and defying an impotent Congress to stop him? Of course every radical, like Obama, hates the Constitutional framework because, as Madison explained in Federalist #10, it is designed to thwart “the wicked projects” of the left to redistribute income and destroy the free market.

The same desire to overwhelm and permanently suppress the opposition drives the war that Obama and the Democrats have conducted against America’s borders and therefore American sovereignty. Their plan is too flood the country with illegals of whatever stripe who will be grateful enough for the favor to win them elections and create a permanent majority in their favor. The immediate result of these efforts is that we have no secure southern border, and therefore no border; and therefore we have effectively invited criminals and terrorists to come across and do Americans harm.

Which brings us to the deepest level of Obama’s hell, which is his anti-American foreign policy. When Obama was re-elected in 2012, the very first thought I had was this: A lot of people are going to be dead because of this election. How disastrously right I was. Since their assault on George Bush and their sabotage of the war in Iraq, Obama and the Democrats have forged a power vacuum in Europe and even more dramatically in the Middle East, which nasty characters have predictably entered with ominous implications for the future security of all Americans.

Take one aspect of this epic default: Obama’s lack of response to the slaughter of Christians in Palestine, Egypt and Iraq. Hundreds of thousands of Christians have been slaughtered and driven from their homes in Iraq – over half a million by some counts. This is the oldest Christian community in the world dating back to the time of Christ. What was Obama’s response to this atrocity until a group of Yazvidi along with the Christians were trapped on a mountain side, and politics dictated he had to make some gesture. His response was to do and say nothing. Silence. Even his statement announcing minimal action to save the Yazvidi and the Christians mentioned the Christians once in passing while devoting a paragraph to the obscure Yazvidi.

What this unfeeling and cold response to the slaughter of Christians tells us is that Obama is a pretend Christian just the way he is a pretend American. What he is instead is a world class liar. That is because his real agendas are anti-American, anti-Christian, and anti-Jewish, and obviously and consistently pro America’s third world adversaries to whom he is always apologizing and whom he is always appeasing. Obama lies about his intentions and policies because he couldn’t survive politically if he told the truth.

The socialist plot against individual freedom called Obamacare was sold as a charitable attempt to cover the uninsured (which it doesn’t), to lower health insurance costs (which it doesn’t) and to allow patients to keep their doctor and their plan (which it doesn’t). What it actually does is to take away a major piece of the freedom that Americans once enjoyed – the freedom to choose their plan and their doctor, and not to have the government control their health care or have easy access to all their financial information.

This devious, deceitful, power hungry administration is just as James Woods described it. But it is also a mounting danger for all Americans. Thanks to his global retreat, the terrorists Obama falsely claims are “on the run” are in fact gathering their strength and their weapons of mass destruction until a day will come when they will cross our porous borders and show us what thyears of perfidy not only by Obama but by the whole Democratic Party have wrought.

When Obama decided to illegally invade Libya, he claimed that he was doing it to protect the poor persecuted Benghazites. Then the poor persecuted Benghazites murdered four Americans.

Now they’ve declared Benghazi to be an Islamic Emirate.

Libya’s Islamist militant group Ansar al-Sharia has said that it seized complete control of Benghazi late on Wednesday, declaring the city an “Islamic emirate,” the group’s representative said.

Ansar al-Sharia is blacklisted by the United States over its alleged role in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, eastern Libya.

An official representative for the armed group told a local radio channel that Benghazi is now under its control.

“Benghazi has now become an Islamic emirate,” said Mohammed al-Zahawi, the spokesman, to Radio Tawhid.

I guess that’s Mission Accomplished for Obama. It seems to be how his foreign policy endgames always come out, whether in Egypt or Iraq.

Unlike Obama, many in Benghazi seem less than enthusiastic about the Emirate thing.

An angry civilian crowd this evening ignored warning shots from Ansar Al Sharia militiamen and seized control of Benghazi’s Jalaa hospital which had been in the hands of militants since the end of June.

Ansar militiamen, it is unclear how many, were seen to withdraw towards neighbouring buildings while the triumphant young people tore down the Islamists’ black banner from above the gate and replaced it with the Libyan flag.

A crowd, which was originally no more than 50-strong, shouted slogans denouncing terrorism and calling for the army and the police to act.

Calls are now going out on social media for this Friday to be a day of mass protest under the slogan “Benghazi Friday: We will not bow”.

Things don’t seem to be going well for them.

Ansar Al Shari were quick to recover from their humiliating ejection from Jalaa hospital last night by an angry crowd of apparently unarmed protestors. In the early hours of this morning Ansar militia returned to the hospital and retook it after a firefight with some of the new occupiers.

They better not expect Obama to intervene. He only bombs on behalf of Islamists.

Facciola, Ahmed Abu Khatallah, Michelle Peterson" width="450" height="243" />

Liberal experts have kept insisting that the best way to deal with Jihadists is to win them over with civilian trials, instead of Gitmo and waterboarding. So far no one has been over.

The Libyan militia leader accused of being part of the deadly 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, has been “compliant but not cooperative” with U.S. interrogators, Representative Mike Rogers said on Sunday.

Ahmed Abu Khatallah, captured in Libya earlier this month by U.S. forces and held for nearly two weeks aboard a U.S. Navy vessel, was transferred to federal custody on Saturday. He appeared in U.S. District Court in Washington and, through a translator, pleaded not guilty to a terrorism charge in the attack that killed Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans.

Rogers, a Republican and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said on CNN’s “State of the Union” program that Khatallah was being held in the Washington, D.C., area after his arraignment.

Khatallah was captured on June 15 by U.S. special operations forces and had been under interrogation since then on a Navy warship that brought him to the United States.

Despite that, Obama decided to inappropriately run a militia man who carried out an attack on US facilities using an armed group through the civilian justice system, just as he sought to do with Osama bin Laden.

The killer is represented by Shelli Peterson, a Federal Public Defender, at taxpayer expense. It’s unclear if this is the same woman who served as Bill Clinton’s White House Counsel during the Lewinsky case.

That’s what provides a rather strange footnote to this case.

The full name of both women is Michelle M. Peterson. Both go by “Shelli”. It could be a coincidence, but it’s quite a coincidence.

As Assistant White House Counsel, Peterson handled the Lewinsky case and was accused of lying to aid the Clintons.

It’s certainly interesting if it’s the same woman, but as Hillary likes to say, “What difference does it make anyway?”

The world of Islamic terrorism is a strange shadowy place full of alliances between enemies. Iran does try to stick its finger in every possible pie and it would have an obvious reason to sabotage any relationship between the US and an oil state.

We’ve seen a number of behind the scenes Benghazi explanations. This is another one.

As a radical Islamic army marches across Iraq, America is making a deal with the devil. Qassem Suleymani, the head of Iran’s secretive Quds Force, is allied with us in Baghdad — but he’s plotted to kill Americans elsewhere.

The CIA Annex in Benghazi housed an NSA listening post that secretly monitored communications of jihadi groups.

Late in the afternoon on Monday, July 30, 2012, the Annex ears picked up chatter in Persian between a pair of operators from Quds Force.

The NSA translator brought an English transcript of their conversation to the chief of base. He laughed when he read through it. “It looks like our boys are on time,” he said.

The chief of base had been given intelligence that Iran would send operatives into the area. He tasked several agents in his employ who worked for the Zintan militia, which ran the Benghazi airport, with tracking the seven Iranians scheduled to arrive that day from Tripoli.

…

In fact, my Iranian sources said, their orders were to kidnap or kill the US ambassador to Libya, to send a message to the United States that they could act against them at will anywhere and at any time in the Middle East.

There’s a lot more to this story which you can read at the New York Post. I don’t know whether it’s true or not. But at least it’s the only kidnapping scenario that makes sense. Iran did have a thing for kidnapping US diplomats.

Unlike Al Qaeda which tends to get directly down to business.

That said, I never really thought that kidnapping was a particularly plausible scenario here. There were easier and more reliable ways to do that. And Benghazi can’t be viewed in isolation. It was part of a series of regional attacks against US facilities.

“Hillary told Obama, ‘Mr. President, that story isn’t credible."

Bad news for Barack. There’s apparently room under the bus for him too.

She had no doubt that a terrorist attack had been launched against America on the anniversary of 9/11. However, when Hillary picked up the phone and heard Obama’s voice, she learned the president had other ideas in mind. With less than two months before Election Day, he was still boasting that he had al Qaeda on the run.

If the truth about Benghazi became known, it would blow that argument out of the water.

“Hillary was stunned when she heard the president talk about the Benghazi attack,” one of her top legal advisers said in an interview. “Obama wanted her to say that the attack had been a spontaneous demonstration triggered by an obscure video on the Internet that demeaned the Prophet Mohammed.”

This adviser continued: “Hillary told Obama, ‘Mr. President, that story isn’t credible. Among other things, it ignores the fact that the attack occurred on 9/11.’ But the president was adamant. He said, ‘Hillary, I need you to put out a State Department release as soon as possible.’”

After her conversation with the president, Hillary called Bill Clinton, who was at his penthouse apartment in the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, and told him what Obama wanted her to do.

“I’m sick about it,” she said, according to the legal adviser, who was filled in on the conversation.

“That story won’t hold up,” Bill said. “I know,” Hillary said. “I told the president that.” “It’s an impossible story,” Bill said. “I can’t believe the president is claiming it wasn’t terrorism. Then again, maybe I can. It looks like Obama isn’t going to allow anyone to say that terrorism has occurred on his watch.”

This is so ridiculously specific that it either came directly from Clinton’s people, with her approval, or it was made up without their authorization. And why bother making up a story that casts Hillary in such a positive light when a sizable chunk of your likely audience for Blood Feud, a book about a feud between the Obamas and the Clintons is conservative?

There isn’t one.

Hillary Clinton, despite her vengeful streak, does have a history of converting even vehement critics into supporters, or at least exploiting them with planted material.

It’s plausible that Bill Clinton, who had a better grasp of common sense politics than Obama, would realize that the story wouldn’t hold up. It is however wildly unlikely that Hillary Clinton would be this opposed to it.

It’s not just that Hillary Clinton has never shown any sign of being bogged down by principles, something that even most politically active Democrats will admit, it’s that there’s never been any sign of her dissenting from the core premise of minimizing terrorism.

Hillary probably had little interest in putting herself too far on the line in 2012 for Obama. She was only doing this to run in 2016. But the idea that she cared about the issue, rather than about what it would do to her credibility, is wildly unlikely.

However influencing the book this way gives her plausible deniability. It allows an anonymous source to toss Obama under the bus without Hillary taking the blame for it.

Obama Inc. will see through that deception, but it doesn’t especially matter since while Obama can do a great deal of damage to America, he probably won’t try to damage Hillary. Especially not if Michelle Obama really does have plans to run for the Senate.

And besides the Clintons are notoriously vengeful and hurting Hillary without destroying her would mean a good deal of payback from a White House, that Obama has created a precedent for running on executive orders and abuses of power.

Finally, would Obama have even bothered directly issuing such an order. It didn’t seem to be how the White House did things.

Hillary’s book attempts to excuse her failures that led to Benghazi while rewriting history about the coverup of a terrorist attack. Clinton attempts to use the dead to promote her political campaign even while lying about why they were killed and the failures that led to the lack of security.

And then someone called her on it to her face.

Jason Mattera caught up with Hillary Clinton at one of the DC stops on her book tour this week, and asked the former Secretary of State if she would mind signing a copy of Hard Choices… but with a twist. “If you could make it out to Christopher Stevens,” Mattera queried. “I think you knew him.”

Hillary, surprised by the request, replied, “Yeah, I’m not gonna make it out to Chris Stevens.” Mattera followed-up with, “What difference does it make?” a reference to Clinton’s infamous 2013 Senate testimony before the Foreign Relations Committee.

Mattera, the publisher of Daily Surge, also noted during their exchange that Hillary’s security detail appears to be larger than what Ambassador Stevens was provided in Benghazi. Clinton’s entourage filled up a town car, two SUVs, and consisted of security personnel from the building she had just exited.

Hillary always had the best security. I recall being in the area back when she was running for Senate and seeing angry men in suits scowling in every direction as if they expected that the crowd of New Yorkers would suddenly whip out their guns and charge.

Unfortunately her underlings in Benghazi didn’t get a fraction of that same level of protection.

Hillary Clinton's delusions on North Korea, Cuba, Islamists and more.

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s new book has been in the spotlight over what she says about Benghazi. That chapter, which starts on page 382, is not the only fascinating passage in Hard Choices. Consider, for example, what Hillary says about Islamists.

“The term Islamist generally refers to people and parties who support a guiding role for Islam in politics and government. It covers a wide spectrum, from those who think Islamic values should inform public policy decisions to those who think that all laws should be judged or even formulated by Islamic authorities to conform to Islamic law. Not all Islamists are alike. In some cases, Islamist leaders and organizations have been hostile to democracy, including some who have supported radical, extremist, and terrorist ideology and actions. But around the world, there are political parties with religious affiliations – Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Muslim – that respect the rules of democratic politics, and it is in America’s interest to encourage all religiously based political parties and leaders to embrace inclusive democracy and reject violence. Any suggestion that faithful Muslims or people of any faith cannot thrive in a democracy is insulting, dangerous and wrong.”

Here readers see the straw man at his finest. Nobody is contending that people of any faith “cannot thrive in a democracy.” The issue is whether Islam itself has a problem with democracy, multi-party elections, free speech, women’s rights, gay rights, diversity, co-education and so forth. The evidence suggests that it does.

Islamists want more than a “guiding role” for Islamic law. They want an exclusive, dominating role. In Islamist regimes non-Islamic groups are second- or third-class citizens. In more than 600 pages Hillary includes nothing on the Islamist group Boko Haram, fond of kidnapping hundreds of girls and burning boys alive.

Some readers will be familiar with Huma Abedin, Hillary’s deputy chief of staff and her ties to Islamic supremacism. Consider how Hard Choices handles the matter.

In one meeting in Cairo, an agitated participant brought up an “especially outrageous canard. He accused my trusted aide Huma Abedin, who is Muslim, of being a secret agent of the Muslim Brotherhood. This claim circulated by some unusually irresponsible and demagogic right-wing political and media personalities in the United States, including members of Congress. . .” Hillary includes no background information on Abedin and her main argument is that Sen. John McCain has publicly defended her.

So has president Obama, who calls Abedin “an American patriot and an example of what we need in this country.” The president issued that praise “at the White House’s annual Iftar dinner to break the Ramadan fast.”

Readers of Hard Choices are told that in North Korea the political oppression is “nearly” total. Actually, the oppression is total. “Famine is frequent,” she writes, and many of the people “live in abject poverty” but she does not tie that poverty to oppressive Marxist rule and a command economy, or compare the forced famines in China and Ukraine.

Hillary writes that “for fifty years Cuba had been ruled as a Communist dictatorship by Fidel Castro.” Fidel and brother Raul “continue to rule Cuba with absolute power.” As Humberto Fontova notes in The Longest Romance, Castro’s rule is as bad as it gets, comparable to Stalin’s. But Hillary offers no detail about the regime’s political prisoners and persecution of homosexuals. Chile, on the other hand suffered the “brutal military dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.” And the coup that brought Pinochet to power, says Hillary, is “a dark chapter in our involvement in the region.”

The author provides no details about the coup and fails to note that the brutal Pinochet, unlike the non-brutal Castro, stepped aside to allow free elections. But readers will observe the first response to blame the United States. Hillary Clinton describes none of the episodes on her watch as Secretary of State, including the Benghazi attack, as a dark chapter in American diplomacy.

It took a village of handlers to produce Hard Choices, dumbed down to the point of explaining that winter in the southern hemisphere occurs at a different time of year. The book is highly autohagiographical, bulked with gossipy filler such as half a page on Benazir Bhutto’s shalwar kameez, “a long flowing tunic over loose pants that was both practical and attractive. . . We wore it for a formal dinner. I wore red silk and Chelsea chose turquoise green.”

On page 595 Hillary says she has yet to make the decision to run for President of the United States. If Hard Choices unsettles readers about her suitability for that office, they might also read Hell to Pay: The Unfolding Story of Hillary Rodham Clinton, the 1999 book by the late Barbara Olson, a victim of the Islamist terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

Readers might also consult Peter Collier’s Political Woman: The Big Little Life of Jeane Kirkpatrick. Hillary Clinton nowhere mentions Ambassador Kirkpatrick but deciding which woman is the tougher, more intelligent and more successful diplomat should not be a hard choice.

How convenient. We thought a video caused the Benghazi attack.

A man the Obama administration claims orchestrated the deadly attack on the American diplomatic complex in Benghazi, Libya, on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 atrocities is now in U.S. custody.

This means that — abracadabra! — a suspect is in U.S. custody even before anyone knew there was a suspect. After all, it was supposed to be a video that no one saw that mocked the Islamic prophet Mohammed that sparked spontaneous riots complete with attackers armed with military-grade weapons.

After the administration orchestrated a massive campaign of deception, spoon-feeding lies to its lapdog allies in the media, suddenly Ahmed Abu Khatallah, a senior leader of the Ansar al-Shari’a terrorist militia in Benghazi, is in American hands. Khatallah, who was not in hiding in Libya and who made himself available to visiting journalists, was charged by U.S. authorities last year with murder in connection with the assault, according to newly unsealed court documents.

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee, said he “anticipated” that the raid seizing Khatallah would happen but suggested that the importance of the capture is overblown.

“The administration would like to say, all right, we apprehended someone, isn’t that great, to deflect the attention away from the real Benghazi problem—that is, the president and, through [Ambassador Susan] Rice and the rest of them, knew full well that it was all a terrorist attack, and they tried to cover it up and got caught in a lie.”

“The big deal here,” said Inhofe, “is we have a president who lied to the American people.”

Whether Khatallah had anything to do with the attack on the diplomatic facility has yet to be shown. Khattalah told the New York Times in October 2012 that he was not part of the violence at the U.S. facility.

President Obama, who apparently went to sleep after being informed of the ongoing attack on Sept. 11, 2012, said yesterday he authorized a military operation to seize Khatallah.

“My duty as commander in chief is to keep the American people safe. There are a lot of dangers out there and a lot of challenges,” he said. “Our diplomats serve with incredible courage and valor in some very difficult situations. They need to know that this country has their back, and will always go after anybody who goes after us.”

Of course Obama and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did nothing at the time to save the Americans who perished at the hands of al-Qaeda affiliated terrorists.

During the military-style assault on the U.S. facility in Benghazi on Sept. 11, four American officials died, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens. It was subsequently reported that Stevens may have been overseeing some kind of Obama-authorized gun-running operation in Libya. On the day of the attack, a few hours before he was reportedly raped and murdered by adherents of the so-called religion of peace, Stevens wrote in an email that a local Libyan commander in Benghazi “expressed growing frustration with police and security forces (who were too weak to keep the country secure) … ”

At the time of the attack, the Obama White House made a conscious, calculated decision to let American officials perish overseas, fully expecting the incurious pro-Obama media to ignore what really happened.

For two weeks after the attack the Obama administration said over and over and over again that the incident in Benghazi was inspired by a low-quality anti-Islam video on YouTube. The American resident who made the video that virtually no one watched was jailed on the thinnest of legal pretexts after Clinton vowed to grieving relatives over the flag-draped remains of the four dead men to get the video maker she claimed caused the attacks. White House adviser Susan Rice went on TV to back up the administration’s lie that the assault was related to a video. Eventually the administration acknowledged it was a terrorist attack.

The Obama administration is going to prosecute Khatallah in the civilian court system.

“Khatallah currently faces criminal charges on three counts, and we retain the option of adding additional charges in the coming days,” Attorney General Eric Holder said. “Even as we begin the process of putting Khatallah on trial and seeking his conviction before a jury, our investigation will remain ongoing as we work to identify and arrest any co-conspirators.”

Not sending Khatallah to Guantanamo and processing him through the military commission system is a huge mistake.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) said arraigning Khattalah in Washington is a “really stupid policy.” It would be better to detain and interrogate him, Johnson said.

“Not through torture, not through abusive techniques,” he said. “You hold people there, you question them relentlessly, you gain their trust over time and they start giving up information … That’s how we actually get the information. So you’re not going to get the intelligence we need by questioning someone for 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours, and then arraigning them and giving them Miranda rights. They’ll shut up.”

Treating Khattalah as an ordinary criminal endangers the lives of Americans because it encourages other unlawful combatants to engage in illegal warfare. Under international humanitarian law, also known as the law of war, unlawful combatants, that is, those who fight without uniforms or military insignia or who otherwise violate battlefield norms, are not considered to be soldiers entitled to certain due process protections.

The reason such deception by belligerents has long been considered immoral and illegal is because it imperils the civilian population by making it difficult to distinguish civilians from enemy soldiers. The law of war thus attempts to shield civilians and to restrict warfare to legitimate military targets. The Bush administration maintained that when terrorists expose civilians to harm by operating outside the law of war, their conduct is so dangerous and morally reprehensible that they should not be elevated to prisoner of war (or “lawful combatant”) status when captured. President Bush also argued that America’s terrorist enemies should not be able to waste U.S. resources by weighing down the civilian legal system in endless litigation. Wars are supposed to be waged on battlefields, not in U.S. courtrooms.

But Obama and his lawless band of radicals threw all that away, opening the U.S. civilian justice system to the enemies of humanity and thereby giving terrorists a green light to hit American targets secure in the knowledge that Mirandization, a pro bono lawyer supplied by the ACLU, and a warm holding cell with the amenities of civilized life await them if captured.

Regardless of how the Khattalah case is disposed of by the courts, the Obama administration has once again sent an unmistakable signal that terrorist war criminals have little to fear from the United States government.

It will never be Hillary’s fault.

When the father of Tyrone Woods finally got a moment with the Secretary of State of the United States, she assured him that justice would be done for his murdered son.

“We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video,” Hillary Clinton told Charles Woods.

The video that the Secretary of State and past and future presidential candidate was referring to was a YouTube trailer for “The Innocence of Muslims.”

At Andrews Air Force Base, Hillary told the families, “We’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful internet video that we had nothing to do with.”

Even in the presence of the families of the murdered Americans who died because of her, Hillary Clinton was still making lying about Islamic terrorism and apologizing to Muslims into her two major priorities.

Two days earlier, Hillary Clinton’s Assistant Secretary of State had told the Libyan ambassador that Ansar Al-Sharia, a group linked to Al Qaeda, was responsible. The morning of the receiving ceremony AFRICOM had sent the State Department a list of suspects, including Al Qaeda members, responsible for the Benghazi attack.

In January, Hillary had blamed “imperfect information.” As she makes her rounds promoting her book, she’s fighting to keep the video lie alive.

In “Hard Choices,” Hillary claims that there were “scores of attackers that night, almost certainly with differing motives. It is inaccurate to state that every single one of them was influenced by this hateful video. It is equally inaccurate to state that none of them were.”

Since it’s impossible to disprove a negative, it would be equally inaccurate to state that none of the attackers were influenced by a frustrated passion for Hillary Clinton. Since there’s no way to disprove the possibility that at least one of the attackers was motivated by the video, by love for Hillary or by hallucinations induced by bath salts, it’s inaccurate to state that none of the attackers carried a torch for Hillary, were angry at a YouTube video or were tripping on bath salts.

You expect to hear that kind of argument from a college freshman who just took Logic I and is trying to explain that she didn’t finish her essay because nothing can truly be finished. But you don’t expect to have to listen to this kind of childish drivel from the frontrunner for the presidency of the United States.

The Benghazi attack wasn’t carried out by a disparate group of loners with their own motives. It was an assault by a heavily armed Jihadist group whose motive was, in their own words, to ensure that “there will be nothing ruling in this country other than the laws of Allah.”

US diplomatic facilities are outposts of infidel law that don’t answer to Allah. They had to be destroyed.

Al Qaeda’s first successful attack on the US targeted embassies in Africa. Credit was claimed by a previously obscure group tied to Al Qaeda.

The attack on the Benghazi mission was similar to the failed 2008 attack on the US embassy in Yemen which used RPGs, snipers and car bombs in another carefully planned assault by an Al Qaeda affiliate. The difference was that US diplomatic facilities in Yemen were heavily fortified and defended while the Benghazi mission couldn’t have had worse security if Al Qaeda had been hired to protect it.

And considering the complex affiliations of the Martyrs of 17 February Brigade that was hired, and then not paid, to protect the mission, that is conceivably what did happen.

On September 11, 2012, Islamist groups carried out attacks against US embassies in Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen. The Egyptian attack was organized by the brother of the Al Qaeda leader. The attacks in Yemen and Tunisia had also been organized or promoted by Al Qaeda terrorists and supporters.

These attacks were less heavily armed, but their goal was to remove the flag of the United States and raise the war flag of Jihad over these small outposts of US soil on Muslim land. These were not protests. They were motivated by the same pretext as Osama bin Laden’s original declaration of war on the United States for “occupying” the “holy land” of Saudi Arabia.

Al Qaeda’s attacks on US diplomatic facilities have been motivated by Bin Laden’s fatwa that “After Belief there is no more important duty than pushing the American enemy out of the Holy land.”

Like Hillary, Rice and Obama, Al Qaeda’s propaganda has been known to change, but its objectives have remained consistent. Their first US embassy attack took place in August 1998. Every few years there have been attacks by Al Qaeda affiliates against US diplomatic facilities around the world. From Saudi Arabia to Syria to Pakistan to Turkey, the attacks routinely came around every two years.

By September 11, 2012, the US was due for another attack on its diplomatic facilities. On September 13, 2006, the US embassy in Damascus had been attacked. On September 17, 2008, the US embassy in Yemen had been attacked. In 2010, the Pakistani Taliban had targeted the US Consulate.

It should not have been very difficult to spot the pattern.

Hillary’s defenders pass around a list of attacks on US diplomatic facilities under Bush. But the vast majority of those attacks were stopped by guards and defenses. The casualties were usually locals.

In Yemen, the attackers dressed in police uniforms and set off multiple car bombs to breach the embassy grounds. They had RPGs and grenades and had even set up a sniper ambush. And they still did not succeed in killing a single American diplomat, let alone in overrunning the facility.

The only American citizens killed were Yemenis related to a wanted US Al Qaeda terrorist.

That was what an attack on a US diplomatic facility looked like under Bush. That is what should have happened in Benghazi if Hillary had done her job. Instead the Benghazi facility had a “weak perimeter” and “incomplete fence” even according to the board that Hillary set up to whitewash her conduct.

But according to Hillary, she was “not equipped to sit and look at blueprints, to determine where the blast walls need to be or where the reinforcements need to be.”

There are shades of Obama in that arrogant disdain. Hillary admitted that the facility was in the top upper ten highest risk locations. And yet she couldn’t be bothered to check into its security. Are we to believe that she will be equipped to look at war plans if she becomes the President of the United States?

Hillary was also unequipped to read cables from Ambassador Stevens begging for extra security. According to her, they were only addressed to her as a “procedural quirk.”

So Hillary is innocent. Completely innocent. Some people below her may have screwed up by denying support and security to the Benghazi mission. And none of them were fired either.

They too were innocent.

The Benghazi attackers were only innocently reacting to a “hateful video.” The only guilty perpetrator that Hillary could find had uploaded a YouTube video.

In the innocence of Hillary there is a preview of her administration. When things go wrong, someone else will be at fault because she wasn’t equipped to look at the numbers or the maps. The buck won’t stop with her except as another “procedural quirk.”

Someone else will always be the guilty party. If Los Angeles gets nuked, a protester burning a Koran will be locked up. If a passenger jet is bombed, someone offending Muslims on Twitter will be punished.

There will always be someone else to take the fall. Someone who isn’t a Muslim terrorist or Hillary Clinton.
