I got an email today I’d like to share with you:
Hi Kathy …
Your comment today about Glenn Beck’s “falling” Nielsen ratings was bang on, especially when you wondered if the recession has some people cutting off the cable TV.
It does, but it’s a tiny bit more complex than that.
* Nielsen’s NATIONAL ratings are measured via [...]
Cathy Areu is the quintessential feminist: hopelessly insecure — and just plain mad. Ms. Areu made headlines this week for referring to Sarah Palin as “Larry the cable guy — minus the class and intelligence.” Well, why not. She had to say something to get the spotlight. Areu is a self-described workaholic who craves attention [...]
When I was a newly-minted journalist we called Ted Turner’s Cable News Network the Chicken Noodle Network. Today that poultry- based moniker seems poised to make a return. The NY Times reports this morning:
CNN continued what has become a precipitous decline in ratings for its prime-time programs in the first quarter of 2010, [...]
Even today, Media Matters is still pushing their tired meme about the “Glenn Beck boycott.” As I’ve explained, this boycott literally cannot work, because cable TV has a different business model than broadcast television.
Speaking of which…
It’s sad to see the George Soros Steno Pool desperately pushing their “boycott” non-story in light of reports like this:

OLBERMANN: I hate to intrude with the facts, but ours is the highest rated cable news program [among] viewers 35 and younger, and the highest rated cable news program for all viewers not on Fixed [i.e., Fox] News. And since [...]
Will the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision destroy American democracy? You might think so given the responses of its critics. The Citizens United decision, far from signaling the fall of the republic, strengthens the First Amendment and freedom of speech.Let’s start with the facts of the case. Citizens United, a nonprofit political advocacy group, produced […]
So who are these ‘new truthers’? The same ilk as the old truthers, except now the conspiracy is a mirror image of 9/11 and they have the help of a major cable news channel to promulgate their theory. They are the same small percentage of Americans who lie so far to the Left of the political spectrum that they’re rubbing shoulders with Michael Moore and Charlie Sheen. In short, they are the ever dwindling audience of MSNBC.
Democrats launch counterattack to save Harry Reid’s career – Mike Allen and Jake Sherman – POLITICO.com
Democrats are preparing to throw the race card back in the laps of Republicans as part of a counterattack designed to help save Harry Reid’s political career. First, Reid’s allies plan to distribute the NAACP vote ratings of Republican senators who have scolded him. The data will be made available to editorial boards, cable programs […]

New Year’s Day came complete with hangover remedies and football…but no government assistance required, thank you very much. We should thank the gods of television for the latter because John Kerry was willing to invoke Capitol Hill to make sure no American would be deprived of [...]
