Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80.

Christie and Obama are both bad people, but in a contest for the “Worst Politicians to Have Caused Gratuitous Harm to Innocent People for Political Reasons”… the crown and mantle of hefty bags and used diapers belongs rightfully to the Emperor of Chicago.

Don’t agree? Read this.

Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They’ve been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn’t an option.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they’ve owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

“I had to go to town today and buy Ralph undershirts and jeans because I forgot his pants,” Joyce Spencer told Action News.

The Stewart’s Point home sits on federal land, so even though the Spencers own their cabin outright, they’re not allowed in until the government reopens.

There was no legitimate reason to kick the Spencers out of their homes. Previous shutdowns did not close memorials, did not close private restaurants on Federal land, did not close privately-run parks on Federal land and did not kick senior citizens out of homes they had owned for forty years.

“We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can,” one National Parks Service ranger told the Washington Times

That sums it up.

None of this stuff was necessary. All of it took more manpower than not doing it.

It had nothing to do with the government shutdown and everything to do with Obama Inc. making the shutdown hurt as many people as possible so he could score political points in his pissing match with Congress.

There’s a Bridgegate, but there’s no Shutdowngate. And there should be one.

“We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can.”

It’s the skinny half of this duo.

Nice of the media to hold Christie accountable for causing traffic problems, but the guy in a clinch with him shut down the road to Mount Rushmore, barricaded multiple memorials, forcibly shut down private parks and even private restaurants at gunpoint.

“We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can,” one National Parks Service ranger told the Washington Times

And then there was this piece of unmitigated Obama thuggery.

Barricades were erected around Old Faithful, and the seniors were locked inside the hotel, where armed rangers stayed at the door.

“They looked like Hulk Hogans, armed. They told us you can’t go outside,” she said. “Some of the Asians who were on the tour said, ‘Oh my God, are we under arrest?’ They felt like they were criminals.”

As the bus made its 2.5-hour journey out of Yellowstone, the tour guide made arrangements to stop at a full-service bathroom at an in-park dude ranch he had done business with in the past. Though the bus had its own small bathroom, Vaillancourt said seniors were looking for a more comfortable place to stop. But no stop was made — Vaillancourt said the dude ranch had been warned that its license to operate would be revoked if it allowed the bus to stop.

That’s a good deal worse than Bridgegate and the media never admitted it even happened and ridiculed the WW2 veterans storming their own memorial.

After celebrating Christie for a year, the only reason the media turned on him is because he served his purpose helping Obama and now threatens Hillary. So they have to take him down.

Bridgegate, the media will report on. Shutdowngate, they won’t.

…and then there was this

In the internal email, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service official Charles Brown said he asked if he could try to spread out the sequester cuts in his region to minimize the impact, and he said he was told not to do anything that would lessen the dire impacts Congress had been warned of.

“We have gone on record with a notification to Congress and whoever else that ‘APHIS would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 states in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding to cover the costs.’ So it is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be,” Mr. Brown, in the internal email, said his superiors told him.

Thank goodness Obama is not a petty vindictive jackass like that New Jersey governor. If he were, then this is exactly the kind of petty vindictive thing that he would have done.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was not issuing right-to-sue letters, so people could not take discrimination cases into federal court

17% of the government shut down and the world ended. Cats began living with dogs. Cannibalism broke out in Walmart’s food stamp aisle and everyone began shouting racial slurs at each other while mixing dough at work.

This is the horrifying world of the GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN 2013 brought to you exclusively by the intrepid Ministry of Information at the AP.

If you have a strong stomach, read on. If you are a woman of tender feelings or a child or a man given to strong outbursts of sentiment, stop now before your eyes encounter the horror that overtook America during GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN 2013.

Our food was a little less safe, our workplaces a little more dangerous. The risk of getting sick was a bit higher, our kids’ homework tougher to complete.

We had trouble getting out of bed. Our pants didn’t fit. Our socks got lost. Because the government wasn’t there to help us find them.

The “feds” always are there in the background, setting the standards by which we live, providing funds to research cures for our kids’ illnesses, watching over our food supply and work environment.

The Feds are always there. Watching. Lurking. These men and women set the standards by which we live. Without them we would be nothing more than animals, filthy animals, crawling in the muck.

At a warehouse, factory or other worksite, a young minority exposed to racial slurs by his boss had one fewer place to turn for help. Federal officials who oversee compliance with discrimination laws and labor practices weren’t working, except in emergencies.

The horror. The humanity.

You mean he had to wait a whole 3 weeks to complain about his boss to the government???

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was not issuing right-to-sue letters, so people could not take discrimination cases into federal court, said Peter Siegelman, an expert in workplace discrimination at the University of Connecticut’s law school.

And we call ourselves a civilized country when we couldn’t even issue right-to-sue letters.

“The afternoon before the shutdown we got a complaint of a restaurant where a … 14-year-old was operating a vertical dough mixer,” said James Yochim, assistant director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s wage and hour division office in Springfield, Ill. “We (were) not able to get out there and conduct an investigation.”

Yochim’s office also put on hold an investigation at another restaurant of children reportedly using a meat slicer.

Total casualties from the dough mixer and meat slicer are currently estimated at 0.

Children learned the meaning of shutdown when they got home and booted up computers to do homework. From the U.S. Census bureau site to NASA maps, they were greeted by alerts that said government sites were down “due to the shutdown.”

And there’s nothing that kids love more than using government websites to do homework. So basically kids loved the shutdown.

Monique Howard’s 5-year-old son, Carter, has the most trouble with his asthma at night, when his breathing is labored. Her family dreams of a cure, the kind doctors are hunting through federally funded research grants at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

During the shutdown, the doctors had to stop submitting grant applications to study childhood asthma and other diseases and disorders. Hospital officials said the shutdown could have delayed funding for nearly half a year.

Except it didn’t. It delayed the submission of government grant applications for three weeks. Which might have delayed the cure for asthma by three weeks assuming that any of the researchers were likely to discover one of those. Which isn’t likely considering the list of research projects funded at Rush in 2009.

On the last day of September, an empty Chicago Transit Authority train somehow rumbled down the tracks and crashed into another train, injuring a few dozen passengers. The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched investigators, and they kept working when the shutdown started the next day because they were “essential.” But the agency furloughed others whose job is to explain to the public what happened.

No one was available to “explain” to the public what happened. This was worse than Stalingrad.

The CDC slashed staffing at quarantine stations at 20 airports and entry points, raising chances travelers could enter the country carrying diseases like measles undetected.

Obama is already letting HIV positive immigrants into the country and we’re supposed to worry about measles?

Maybe next time we can try shutting down the media instead.

If the government had actually shut down, we would have saved a ton of money.

The latest media talking point is about the “cost” of the shutdown.

It’s ironic that the allies of an administration that triggers constant fiscal showdowns over its refusal to stop spending insane amounts of money that we don’t have are now pretending to be concerned about the cost of something.

Their latest revelation is that the shutdown may have cost… get ready for it… up to $24 billion.

That’s right. A whole $24 billion. In some pre-Obama universe that was maybe a lot of money. But in the Obama Era, that’s 2.5 days worth of government spending.

Every day, the U.S. government takes in $6 billion and spends $10 billion. This means that every day the federal government spends $4 billion more dollars than it has.

Three weeks of government shutdown cost 2.5 days of government spending. Six days of deficit spending.

If the government had actually shut down, we would have saved a ton of money. But we didn’t. And that’s just depending on which balance sheet we use.

Here’s what the naked shutdown really looked like.

According to the Daily Treasury Statement for Oct. 2, which was released yesterday at 4:00 p.m., the Treasury spent a total of $63.262 billion in the first two days of fiscal 2014. At the same time, it took in $25.681 billion in tax revenue.

In 2 days, more money was stolen than the whole “cost” of the shutdown. More money was spent at a deficit in the first two days of the government shutdown than the cost of the shutdown.

And more than twice as much money was spent.

That $24 billion? It wouldn’t even count as pocket change to an administration that treats a trillion dollars as play money. Obama’s 2012 budget was nearly 4 trillion dollars. To put that into perspective. Imagine that 24 billion dollars is actually just 24 bucks. Then Obama’s demented 2012 budget was 4,000 dollars.

While Obama blows trillions, the media suddenly pretends to care about a measly 24 billion dollars even as defends his right to spend unlimited amounts of taxpayer money and debt.

Everyone has their priorities. For Obama, Occupiers come before WW2 veterans.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) relentlessly challenged National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis to cite the federal regulation that prompted his department to put up barricades to keep veterans out of war memorials on the first day of the shutdown. He also pointed out that the Park Service failed to issue a single citation when Occupiers camped out at D.C.’s McPherson Square for 100 days — 100 days in “non-compliance” with federal regulations.

The Republican congressman repeatedly asked for a straight answer as to why Jarvis ignored a federal regulation for 100 straight days when dealing with protesters, but erected barricades on the first day of the government shutdown.

Jarvis then claimed that the veterans would have been permitted to enter the war memorials if they “declared” they were exercising their First Amendment rights.

“Who were they to declare it to? A barricade?” Gowdy responded sarcastically. “Mr. Chairman, I want the record to reflect that no statute or code of the federal regulation was cited to justify the erection of barricades.”

It’s doubtful that one of the joggers hit with 100 dollar fines for jogging on Federal land could claim an exemption for protest jogging.

That’s the problem with the First Amendment argument. Once you allow people to camp out and claim it’s a protest, then anyone should have been able to camp out in a National Park and call it a protest.

What Obama Inc. was really doing was assigning a special status to a left-wing protest group that it sympathized with while denying it to veterans and ordinary Americans.

Whether or not Jarrett really came up with this as a plan, there’s little doubt that Obama’s “Never Negotiate” strategy that he has deployed throughout his disastrous period of national misrule comes from her.

Obama’s top adviser Valerie Jarrett was behind a plan to force a showdown with Republicans over ObamaCare as part of a strategy to regain Democratic control of the House next year, claims author Ed Klein.

“She convinced the president that a government shutdown and default offered a great opportunity to demonize the Republicans and help the Democrats win back a majority in the House of Representatives in 2014 .

Klein — who wrote a provocative biography about Obama last year entitled “The Amateur” — said White House insiders refer to Jarrett as “The Night Stalker” because she is the only presidential aide who frequently spends time in the family quarters and dines with the Obamas.

It was Jarrett who advised Obama that voters would mostly blame Republicans if the federal government ground to a halt, providing a golden opportunity to swing back control of the House to Democrats in the 2014 mid-term elections, according to Klein.

A Democratic House would give Obama an opportunity to pass immigration and other legislation blocked by the current Republican majority.

Valerie also came with the idea of using the words `hostage’, and `ransom,’ and `terrorists’ against the Republicans,’” Klein said.

So Valerie Jarrett is the real terrorist. And with an Iranian background, she certainly would know all about hostage taking.

"These closures are occurring where federal law mandates hunting and where it is is a “priority public use.”

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance, a national organization that defends the rights of hunters and fishermen, sent a letter to Obama blasting his shutdown theater as a violation of the law and “political theater at its worst.”

“These closures are occurring on lands where federal law mandates hunting and where hunting is statutorily determined to be a “priority public use.” Lack of an agreement on a federal budget does not terminate the effect of the law which clearly allows for hunting,” the organization points out.

The letter states, “In Alaska, guided sport hunters are being told they have to shut down their camps and leave public lands. This is occurring on lands where federal law mandates hunting and where hunting is statutorily determined to be a “priority public use.” Moreover, access via floatplanes and motorboats to these same federal lands is statutorily guaranteed.

“Lack of federal appropriations and funding does not terminate the effect of these statutory provisions and guarantees and executive edicts to the contrary violate applicable law.”

Or to simplify, access is a legal right regardless of whether 17 percent of the Fed government is or isn’t shut down.

“We note too that the FWS closure edict in Alaska allows “subsistence hunting” to continue. Nothing in law authorizes the Executive Branch to make this kind of discriminatory distinction between classes of hunters and allow one group to disregard this arbitrary political closure order while enforcing it on another.”

True, but as with ObamaCare, Obama makes up his own laws as he goes along.

The letter further points out that closures have occurred in areas under Florida state authority. “Even if NPS rangers are not present to enforce applicable rules, State fish and wildlife officials remain present on these waters to enforce both State and federal rules.”

It then makes the point that, “We recognize that lands with controlled access may be closed since federal personnel are not available to man entrance gates, collect required fees, or protect highly specific resources or sites. But where these limitations do not apply, there is no need to close public lands.”

Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com

Because you know, the government is shut down. That means Old Faithful also has to shut down. And if it won’t shut down on its own, then it has to be blockaded to keep anyone from seeing it.

The already crazy events in Yellowstone discussed yesterday, in which a bus of senior citizen tourists were locked in their hotel by armed rangers gets even more insane in the latest interview.

Government bureaucracies are insane by definition, but this is approaching Kafkaesque territory.

The bus stopped along a road when a large herd of bison passed nearby, and seniors filed out to take photos. Almost immediately, an armed ranger came by and ordered them to get back in, saying they couldn’t “recreate.” The tour guide, who had paid a $300 fee the day before to bring the group into the park, argued that the seniors weren’t “recreating,” just taking photos.

“She responded and said, ‘Sir, you are recreating,’ and her tone became very aggressive,” Vaillancourt said.

The seniors quickly filed back onboard and the bus went to the Old Faithful Inn, the park’s premier lodge located adjacent to the park’s most famous site, Old Faithful geyser. That was as close as they could get to the famous site — barricades were erected around Old Faithful, and the seniors were locked inside the hotel, where armed rangers stayed at the door.

That outburst of crazy NPS fascism was topped in her latest account.

“Sawhorses were put in front of Old Faithful. And 10 to 15 minutes before her eruption, you would see 4 by 4′s and rangers coming to that area.”

“And every ranger out there was armed at the time. From Tuesday, any park ranger I saw was carrying a gun.”

So the shutdowns, caused supposedly by a lack of resources, did not prevent park rangers from specifically deploying before each eruption to keep people from “recreating.”

We’re in some sort of insane comedy skit where Obama’s cops have a mission to keep people from having the least bit of fun.

I’m reminded of the explanation given by a National Park Service spokesman for why 5 rangers in 3 cars had to be dispatched to mount a 24 hour blockade of the Pisgah Inn, a private business, which had tried to stay open.

The parkway’s chief ranger, Steve Stinnett, said Park Service managers in Washington directed him to block access to the inn at milepost 408.6 and ensure “people don’t utilize a business that, according to the federal government, is closed.”

According to Obama, Old Faithful is closed, so park rangers had to be posted to keep people from seeing that it’s erupting.

How dare Congress keep WW2 veterans out of an open air memorial that Obama’s people are keeping them out of? That’s like the FDR campaign running an ad blaming Republicans for rounding up Japanese-Americans or Bill Clinton blaming Bob Dole for sleeping with Monica Lewinsky.

I really think it’s disgusting that Congress gave unprecedented orders to the National Park Service to waste time and resources barackading national monuments, forcibly shutting down restaurants on Federal land, evicting seniors from their cabins and terrorizing tourists.

Barricades were erected around Old Faithful, and the seniors were locked inside the hotel, where armed rangers stayed at the door.

“They looked like Hulk Hogans, armed. They told us you can’t go outside,” she said.

Which member of Congress did this? I think it was Senator Barack Obama. I can’t wait till Pisgah Inn and the Claude Moore Colonial Farm appears in these ads.

Organizing for Action, the nonprofit advocacy group that grew out of President Barack Obama’s campaign, is out with a new ad attacking Republicans over the government shutdown that includes footage of closed monuments on the national mall.

The ad, titled “Irresponsible,” will run for a week on national cable channels including MSNBC and CNN, an OFA spokeswoman said.

OFA, Obama’s SuperPAC, is really reaching beyond its base there. What next, an ad buy on Al Jazeera? Some 30 second spots on NPR?

In the 30-second spot, the words “irresponsible”, “reckless” and “destructive” appear onscreen spliced with clips of Republicans including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) talking about the shutdown, with Bachmann saying how happy Republicans are.

As the narrator says the shutdown and a potential debt default will hurt families, seniors and children, video rolls of a closed monument on the mall and a World War II veteran trying to visit the war’s memorial.

The WW2 Memorial that Obama’s own park cops decided to wrongly keep them out of.

It sends viewers to a website where they can sign up with an email address and zip code to “add your name.”

So basically this is Team Obama trying to harvest more names.

Bureaucracy multiplies insanity. The insanity of Obama Inc. appears to have been further multiplied by the disastrous mess that the National Park Service has become.

“They looked like Hulk Hogans, armed. They told us you can’t go outside,” she said. “Some of the Asians who were on the tour said, ‘Oh my God, are we under arrest?’ They felt like they were criminals.”

The message that we’re getting from places like the Claude Moore Colonial Farm and Pisgah Inn is that the National Park Service is broken. It needs fixing and people who behave this way need firing.

Pat Vaillancourt went on a trip last week that was intended to showcase some of America’s greatest treasures.

Instead, the Salisbury resident said she and others on her tour bus witnessed an ugly spectacle that made her embarrassed, angry and heartbroken for her country.

Vaillancourt was one of thousands of people who found themselves in a national park as the federal government shutdown went into effect on Oct. 1. For many hours her tour group, which included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park hotel under armed guard.

The tourists were treated harshly by armed park employees, she said, so much so that some of the foreign tourists with limited English skills thought they were under arrest.

When finally allowed to leave, the bus was not allowed to halt at all along the 2.5-hour trip out of the park, not even to stop at private bathrooms that were open along the route.

“We’ve become a country of fear, guns and control,” said Vaillancourt, who grew up in Lawrence. “It was like they brought out the armed forces. Nobody was saying, ‘we’re sorry,’ it was all like — ” as she clenched her fist and banged it against her forearm.

Why would they? This is an armed bureaucracy.

This is naked thuggery. There’s no sense to it. It’s just rigid enforcement for the sake of enforcement.

That reminded her of her father, a World War II veteran who spent three years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.

“My father took a lot of crap from the Japanese,” she recalled, her eyes welling with tears. “Every day they made him bow to the Japanese flag. But he stood up to them.

“He always said to stand up for what you believe in, and don’t let them push you around,” she said, adding she was sad to see “fear, guns and control” turned on citizens in her own country.

Unfortunately under Obama, this isn’t her country anymore. Not until Americans take it back.

The United States finally has a function. Acting as China’s reserve currency.

China, the biggest foreign creditor of the United States, has waded into the American budget crisis, warning Congress that it must resolve the political impasse over the debt ceiling without further delay.

The Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, Zhu Guangyao, told America’s deadlocked politicians on Monday that “the clock is ticking” and called on them to approve an extension of the national borrowing limit before the federal government is projected to run out of cash on 17 October.

“We ask that the United States earnestly takes steps to resolve in a timely way the political issues around the debt ceiling and prevent a US debt default to ensure the safety of Chinese investments in the United States,” Mr Zhu told reporters in Beijing. “This is the United States’ responsibility,” he added.

“The US is clearly aware of China’s concerns about the financial stalemate and China’s request for the US to ensure the safety of Chinese investments,” he said yesterday.

China held $1.28tn in US Treasuries in July 2013, according to US Treasury data, although the true figure could well be higher than this as China also invests through intermediaries.

“The U.S. is the world’s biggest economy and a major country issuing reserve currency. Safeguarding the debt is of vital importance to the economy of the U.S. and the world,” China’s Vice Minister of Finance Zhu Guangyao told a press briefing held by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

“This is the United States’ responsibility,” he said.

Under the current situation, Zhu advised the U.S. Treasury Department to take the first step to ensure the interest payments of the government bonds and then pay the principles through the replacement of old debt by new.

The good news is that China wants to keep lending us money they don’t have so that we can spend money that we don’t have on things that we don’t need.

The bad news is all of the above, plus that liberalism means that America is destroying its economy and its credit worthiness on Obama’s insane spending spree while acting as a hole for Chinese bankers to toss their money into.

Think of us as the people taking out subprime mortgages and China as the lenders. Except the lenders suspect that they’ll go bust before we do because their wacky mix of Crony Capitalism and Communism with heady doses of corruption is what we’re doing but without any of the environmental concerns.

There's no money to keep the park open. But there is money to keep people out of the park.

If the government has the resources to block access to national parks, it certainly has the resources to leave them alone. The same government that has the resources to blockade a private restaurant with 5 rangers in 3 cars on a 24 hour basis isn’t shutting down parks because it can’t keep them open.

It’s doing it to make a political statement on behalf of Obama Inc. And make a little money too.

A marathoner says he was fined $100 for running in Valley Forge National Historical Park during the government shutdown.

John Bell, 56, said he parked his car on Sunday in a remote parking lot, not one blocked by a barrier. Bell, of Chadds Ford, said two rangers were waiting with their car lights flashing when he returned.

Bell said he plans to fight the ticket in federal court. He said he saw many other runners and bikers in the park.

Maine’s Acadia National Park had trouble keeping visitors out during the shutdown and was issuing fines to campers, bikers and hikers. On Saturday, 16 hikers hopped a gate to gain entry to Utah’s closed Zion National Park to protest the shutdown.

It obviously takes more resources to keep people out of a national park, than it does to run a park or just go down to bare bones. Occupations are always expensive.

But the government can always cash in by fining people.

Like most occupations, the thread of logic behind it no longer leads anywhere or makes any sense. We have Parks Service employees being deployed to block people from using parks because there’s no money to keep the park open.

But there is money to keep people out of the park.

Especially if you fine people for jogging in the park.

A pro-illegal alien amnesty rally involving unions and SEIU is just too important to let a government shutdown interfere with.

These guys… or WW2 vets

There are some things that are just too important to stop. Not a visit by elderly WW2 veterans who might not live to see next year. But a pro-illegal alien amnesty rally involving unions and SEIU is just too important to let a government shutdown interfere with.

A planned immigration reform rally will take place on the National Mall on Tuesday even though the site is closed due to the government shutdown.

Organizers for the “Camino Americano: March for Immigration Reform” were spotted Monday setting up a stage and equipment on the National Mall for the rally which will take place on Tuesday.

A few scattered barriers around the park have signs informing visitors that the area is closed as a result of the government shutdown.

But that’s okay. The shutdown only affects senior citizens living in cabins on Federal land who have to be kicked out of their homes and visiting veterans. It doesn’t affect truly important people like…

About 30 members of Congress are expected to attend the rally, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J.

The event is hosted by several immigration activist groups, together with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the AFL-CIO.

What isn’t being mentioned is that the Camino Americano rally is really more of a concert because it’s the only way to get a whole bunch of people to show up. But the resulting crowds there to hear the music will be sold as pro-amnesty protesters.

Should a concert really get an exemption when no one else seems to be able to? When the concern aligns with the agenda of Obama Inc, do you even have to ask?

Los Tigres del Norte will headline the free Concert and will be joined by guest artists Lila Downs and Little Joe (Hernandez). Los Tigres have been at the forefront of the immigration debate from almost the very beginning. The outdoor, two-hour concert will begin at 12:30 p.m. at 10th Street and the National Mall. While many of you may not be able to join us in person, we hope that the Concert and March will resonate in your hearts and minds.

Anyone who attends to hear the music will of course be billed as a civil rights protestor.

The story of the Pisgah Inn, a privately owned and managed restaurant on Federal land, is only getting stranger. After the owner announced that he would defy National Park Service orders to close, he got him with a 24 hour blockade.

Owner Bruce O’Connell told FoxNews.com on Monday that rangers are still outside his business, blocking the entrance to the parking lot. As of late Monday morning, he said there were three cars and five rangers stationed outside.

“Their message is, ‘sorry, we’re following orders,’” he said, describing it as a “24/7 blockade.”

So the Pisgah Inn can’t stay open, because, in the words of an NPS spokesman, so that “people don’t utilize a business that, according to the federal government, is closed.”

The Federal government lacks the resources during a shutdown to keep open a restaurant that they don’t run. But they do have the resources to conduct a 24/7 hour blockade of the place using 5 rangers and 3 cars.

Here by the way is how Reuters reported it. Their headline was “Defiant N.C. innkeeper relents, will close due to federal shutdown.”

Meanwhile freedom-loving protesters have arrived at Pisgah Inn, the site of Obama’s own Berlin Wall blockade.

Conservative activists protested Saturday outside a private hotel and restaurant forced to close during the partial federal government shutdown because it leases a federal government building on federally owned land.

Park rangers began blocking the inn’s three entrances off the parkway at lunchtime Friday, stayed through the night and remained there Saturday to make sure the inn didn’t reopen, O’Connell said.

Parkway Chief Ranger Steve Stinnett said park service managers in Washington directed him to block access to the inn.

Park Service spokeswoman Dana Soehn said she understands the frustration resulting from the inn’s closure.

“We understand people want to express their disappointment,” she said. “But this is a federally owned facility run by the concessionaire. All federally owned facilities were closed as part of the shutdown.”

There’s no sane reason to close a facility that happens to be run by the Federal government, but whose operation doesn’t cost the Federal government any money or require Federal employees to take any action.

“We understand people want to express their disappointment. Our job is to protect the facility and the resources.”

What exactly are they protecting the facility from? People eating there?

O’Connell said he planned to seek a court order to get rangers to stop blocking access to his business.

Greg Walter, of Jackson County, held up a sign Saturday for passing motorists that read: “A president who deliberately harms the people must be impeached.”

Looks like the 1771 Claude Moore Colonial Farm is moving all the way up to 1776. (Actually political protests against tyranny were contemporary in 1771.)

The Claude Moore Colonial Farm is privately run and funded. It is that way because the National Park Service made it clear some time ago that it wasn’t interested in the colonial farm.

As much as possible, it is the late 1700s at the Claude Moore Colonial Farm in Fairfax County, Va. Tobacco is still grown here, and it is dried in a small tobacco barn, just the way it was dried 200 years ago.

Even the animals here are generally “rare and heritage breeds.” The pigs, for example, are smaller than modern pork. They were captured on an island off the Georgia coast, descendants of a shipwreck in the 1600s.

Then suddenly when Obama decided to use the National Park Service in his war against Congress, the National Park Service’s dumbest thugs began heading anywhere they thought might belong to them, driving everyone out and barricading the place. They even tried that trick with George Washington’s estate which is on private land. They settled for barricading one parking lot.

But after kicking some senior citizens out of their homes and forcibly shuttering the Pisgah Inn, they went after the Claude Moore Colonial Farm which is privately funded and run, but is on Federal land.

“The first casualty of this arbitrary action was the McLean Chamber of Commerce who were having a large annual event at the Pavilion on Tuesday evening. The NPS sent the Park Police over to remove the Pavilion’s staff and Chamber volunteers from the property while they were trying to set up for their event.

…because the NPS just doesn’t have enough people to run things that they don’t run. But they do have more than enough people to forcibly shut them down.

But in the Spirit of 1771, the Colonial Farm isn’t taking it lying down

The Farm is still closed with barricades in place however the NPS has never acted on its threat to blockade the staff and volunteer’s access to the property. Maybe they are all busy on the mall or standing guard over the scenic overlooks on the George Washington Memorial Parkway but at least they have left us alone.

The NPS however did blockade the Pisgah Inn. I wouldn’t be too surprised if after this story goes public, they go after the Colonial Farm.

In the meantime, the children that started working at the Farm years ago have grown up and are staging a protest tomorrow at the Department of the Interior. The details and their statement is below. I am so proud of them for doing this. There is nothing more heady than fighting for what you think is right and winning. And we will win this fight. If you can join them, do.

The protest is happening Monday October 7 at noon outside the US Dept. of Interior 1849 C Street NW, Washington DC. There will be fliers and information to hand out. Costumes are encouraged but not necessary. We are calling this the “freedom from tyranny colonial rally” and the invite on Facebook reads:

Perhaps NPS should consider profiting from King George III’s example.

"We're gonna land on the moon. We're gonna Barackade the moon to let everyone know the moon is closed."

The space program, which had been mothballed after the 2008 election, received an unexpected shot in the arm from the government shutdown with an emergency mission to the moon.

After his victory, Obama had shut down planned missions to the moon and mars, the space shuttle and the replacement space vehicle for it. But a recent bill by two Congressional Black Caucus members to establish a National Park on the lunar landing site created an urgent need to immediately shut down the Apollo Lunar Landing National Historic Park before anyone could actually visit it.

“The government is shut down. All 17 percent of it,” said National Park Service spokeswoman Sequoia Jackson. “We’ve barricaded national monuments and the ocean. We evicted restaurants and homeowners living on Federal land. We don’t know how else to get the message across that the government is shut down and there is no money except by launching an emergency 2 trillion dollar mission to plant barricades on the moon.”

The crash program to reach the moon before the shutdown ends and plant barackades on it has already begun. Four non-essential furloughed Federal workers, selected for their diversity of races, sexual orientations and gender identities, underwent rapid weightlessness training in the back of a UPS truck hurtling down the hill to make a rush delivery.

Despite the government shutdown, Tesla Industries was given an immediate 2 trillion dollar contract to construct a space vehicle by the end of the weekend. Government spokesmen denied that the contract had anything to do with its founder and CEO’s generous donations to Obama.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled plans for the NPS Barackade this afternoon. The plans were drawn in crayon on a TGI Friday’s placemat, but look no less impressive for that.

“The NPS Starship Barackade will have twelve Green engines powered by piles of recycled laptop batteries,” Musk told reporters while nibbling on an egg and cheese sandwich. “It will recycle its wastes. Its outer skin is made of recycled aluminum from all the Tesla cars that burned up. Its rocket booster is powered by the recorded screams by Al Gore and Howard Dean. Its navigation system is lifted from a driving App we found at the App Store.”

But will it fly? That’s the question.

The plan is to have the NPS Barackade pass around the moon, swing down into lunar orbit and then begin a sharp descent over the Sea of Tranquility. The Barackade’s crew will then deploy barricades around the site of the original Apollo 11 landing blocking out the view of the flag. A 100 foot white sheet will be fastened over the barricades to prevent views from above.

The sheet will read in letters large enough to be seen by the telescope of the Mauna Kea Observatories. “The Moon is closed due to the Shutdown of the Federal Government. Come back later.”

The four members of the NPS Barackade Crew were introduced at a press conference held just outside the barricades of NASA HQ.

Mananda Jones, a biracial bisexual postal worker fired for stealing postage stamps who then successfully sued for discrimination.

Lucy Whitlock, born Lucien, a transgender man, who joined the National Park Service to help bears get in touch with their gay identity and underwent extensive reconstructive surgery and a gender change after repeated maulings.

Bert Rogby, a member of the EPA’s SWAT Team Cypress 16 that had personally brought down a man who spit on the sidewalk in Seattle, before being furloughed.

Abdul Hassan Mohammed, NASA’s Chief of the Division of Muslim Self-Esteem who had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for convincing a Muslim suicide bomber planning to bomb an airline that Muslims had invented planes. And barf bags.

“This is the most diverse space crew outside television,” Attorney General Eric Holder said, after filing fourteen lawsuits in four hours against all the original crewmembers due to their lack of diversity. “If gravity interferes in any way with their launch, it will be considered a hate crime… and we will prosecute physics.”

“Our goal is simple,” said National Park Service Space Division chief Malik Edwards. “We’re gonna land on the moon. We’re gonna Barackade the moon to let everyone know the moon is closed. It’s gonna be a real inspiration to the youth.”

Responding to questions about where the 2 trillion dollars for the moon shutdown would come from, Obama dismissed the question. “Spending 2 trillion dollars to shut down the moon is actually going to shrink our national debt. And our deficit.”

Attempts to verify that math were aborted when a Park Ranger grabbed the calculator, stomped on it and declared that math had been shut down.

The NPS Barackade launches tomorrow from a gantry of barricades that it will carry up with it to the moon. But Obama has already recorded his speech for the launch.

“Two-hundred years ago, President John F. Kennedy said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.’ These brave Federal workers traveling into the uncharted depths of space have chosen to ask the opposite question. Ask not what they can do for their country or why they even have jobs. Ask how you can give them another raise.”

“Today they are faring forth heroically to shut down the moon, the way that their ancestors set sail in the Mayflower to shut down Plymouth Rock and crossed the Oregon Trail to shut down California.

“Tomorrow, we may go outward to shut down Mars or Jupiter. And beyond, centuries hence, brave Federal workers will fly starships to shut down Alpha Centauri or the Andromeda galaxy. They will fly into black holes to shut them down and put up barricades around pulsars, so that when aliens come billions of years from now after the human race has long been extinct, they will know that the Federal government is still shut down.

“I see the bright faces of young people out there watching this and thinking to themselves that if a bunch of useless idiots who spent their whole lives implementing regulations and smoking in the stairwell can try and fail to go to the moon, they too can get jobs in which they do nothing all day until the government decides to launch them on a suicide mission into space.

“I see in them the hopes and aspirations of a young woman from Kansas and a young polygamist from Kenya who aspired to shut down America. Their wishes came true through a young boy growing up in Hawaii who succeeded in realizing their dream. As these four idiots launch into space and die screaming because their air revitalization system consists of a used air conditioner from Tesla’s second floor and they have no air, let us pay tribute to the adventurers and explorers who dream big.

“Who dream of shutting down Mount Rushmore and shutting down the Grand Canyon. Who dream of shutting down the rivers and oceans. Who dream of shutting down America.

“Obamaspeed, Abdul Hassan Mohammed. Obamaspeed.”

The Pisgah Inn, a privately run restaurant run by the same family for decades on Federal land decided to stay open during the shutdown. Since the restaurant isn’t staffed or funded by the government, there was no rational reason for shutting it down.

Except one.

At a spot 5,000 feet above sea level and 20 miles from the nearest town, an innkeeper decided Friday to defy the federal government and reopen his lodge.

That stand lasted about two hours as National Park Service rangers blocked the entrances to the privately run Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway after owner Bruce O’Connell decided to reopen his dining room, gift shop and country store at noon Friday for lunch.

A handful of guests had lunch before Park Service patrol cars blocked the driveways, turning on their orange flashing lights. Rangers turned customers away, saying the government was closed.

The government employees were apparently incapable of distinguishing between the government and an inn. It’s a natural mistake since they have a free lunch.

“If they were government employees, they’d get back pay when government re-funded,” said Baird Lefter of Waynesville, N.C., in a valley about 20 miles northwest of the inn. He was dining with his wife and a friend. “They are just being shut out of work. And if they haven’t closed the parkway why should they close the concessions?”

100 employees are idled; 35 live on the property.

But wait.

There’s a perfectly good reason why the government can’t allow a restaurant that it doesn’t fund to stay open, but has the resources to send employees to keep people from eating there.

The parkway’s chief ranger, Steve Stinnett, said Park Service managers in Washington directed him to block access to the inn at milepost 408.6 and ensure “people don’t utilize a business that, according to the federal government, is closed.”

The business is open. But the government has decided it’s really closed. So the government sent its enforcers down to prevent people from patronizing a business that is open to make reality conform to the government’s view of reality.

The oceans better watch out.

I think this is the “Too Far” point for most people.

Obama’s Shutdown Theater has shut down open air memorials, the oceans and private restaurants on Federal land. Those were bad enough, but we’re moving into evil territory here.

The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they’re being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.

Park officials said property owners can visit only to retrieve belongings; they sent Action News a statement which reads in part, “Unfortunately overnight stays are not permitted until a budget is passed and the park can reopen.”

Sorry, you can’t sleep in your home until a budget is passed. This is cheap blackmail. There’s no justification or excuse for it. This same gang of thugs, which claims not to have the resources to keep anything running, was able to send a bunch of park cops to blockade a private restaurant.

There’s no reason why an elderly couple can’t live in their private cabin because the government is shut down. One has nothing to do with the other.

Obama is going Full Mugabe here. It’s just an attempt to hurt as many people as possible and then blame it on Republicans. And yes, any park employees associated with kicking people in their 70s out of their homes should be ashamed of themselves. And then fired.

Priorities, priorities. The vets and the kids can’t promote Obama as well as PBS. Besides if PBS shuts down, what will Obama donors have left to watch besides the Colbert Report and Anthony Bourdain?

On the first day of the “shutdown” of the federal government, when members of the U.S. Senate were going to the well of their house to point out that the shutdown would prevent the National Institutes of Health from starting clinical trials for cancer patients and others facing possibly terminal illnesses, the administration was giving $445,000,000 to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, according to the Daily Treasury Statement.

That means PBS NewsHour, National Public Radio and Sesame Street got a taxpayer subsidy during the shutdown, but not would-be cancer patients at the NIH.

The $445 million the Treasury handed over to CPB was more than the $119 million the Treasury paid on the first day of the shutdown in interest on U.S. government debt that is held by the public. It was also more than $171 million in Social Security benefits the Treasury paid that day. But it was less than the $592 million the Treasury paid for Veterans Affairs programs on the first day of the shutdown.

PBS should run a WW2 program. And then in no time flat, park cops would arrive to shut it down.

Obama might want to recall how the Cold War ended. It didn't end with the Reds winning.

Obama’s left-wing roots may have given him an advantage in refighting the Vietnam War where Vietnam vets were successfully removed from an open air wall honoring them, as the most radical left-wing government to run the country paid its own special form of tribute on the death of Commie butcher Vo Nguyen Giap.

After one group of veterans went around the barricade, “the park ranger told them the wall was closed,” NBC’s Mark Seagraves reported. “Later another group of vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled with vets and tourists. That’s when police came and moved everyone out.”

Team Obama wins this one. But its campaign against WW2 vets is looking as shaky as if Barack’s real first name were Benito.

After marking one victory at the WW2 memorial, the men who stormed Iwo Jima stormed the Iwo Jima memorial.

Another open-air memorial in the Washington area is closed and barricaded off: the Iwo Jima Memorial, just across the bridge from D.C. in Rosslyn, Virginia.

“The Syracuse Honor Flight just knocked down the barrier and a couple hundred of them are at the Memorial now.”

So far the outcomes of Obama’s war recreations match the outcomes of the original wars. Considering America’s track record, Obama might want to recall how the Cold War ended.

It didn’t end with the Reds winning.
