And puts the United States to shame.

In November 2014, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) took a bold and unprecedented step for a Muslim nation by designating 85 radical Islamic organizations as terrorist organizations. The UAE’s designation is the most audacious and significant classification of terrorist organizations worldwide, and is superior to the lists developed by the United States, the European Union, the Russian Federation and the United Nations. As to why it is unrivalled, here are a number of reasons:

First: The UAE addressed the roots of the problem, in the sense that terrorist ideology paves the way for terrorist acts; hence, the list included organizations which promote terrorist ideology or seek to secretly recruit Muslims, making them ready and available for organizations engaged in terrorist acts.

Second: The UAE is familiar with the double talk, dissimulation and outright lies that are typical of Islamists. As an Islamic State, the UAE has a good understanding of those deceitful practices. Therefore, it did not hesitate much about organizations that issue vague statements claiming to denounce terror, while their actions aim at stirring up discontent among Muslims to facilitate their recruitment into terrorist organizations. The US Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a prominent case in point.

Third: It is the first time that Islamic organizations in the United States and Europe find themselves on the designated list of terrorist organizations. These organizations are mostly financed through Arab oil countries, under pretext of defending the rights of Muslims in the United States and Europe. In reality, they are part of the global Jihad network, and are focused on promoting radical ideologies and indoctrinating Muslims in the Western World, steering them to join the universal Jihad against the infidels. These organizations also actively work to isolate Muslims and prevent their integration into their new communities in the West. Furthermore, they have sown the seeds of hatred that many Muslims harbor towards their new home in the West, pushing the idea that loyalty to the new homeland contradicts their devotion to Islam and stands in the way of the battle against the infidels. Examples of organizations that fall under this category in the UAE’s list include CAIR in the United States, the Muslim American Society (MAS), the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe, the Islamic Associations in Italy, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Belgium, the Cordoba Foundation in Britain and the Islamic Society of Germany.

Fourth: The UAE’s list also included organizations that hide behind the façade of charity and humanitarian work, while playing a major role in financing terrorist groups such as Hamas and others. Among these organizations are the UK Islamic Relief and the International Islamic Relief organization affiliated with the international Muslim Brotherhood organization.

Fifth: The UAE’s designation also broke through the imaginary divide between moderate Islamic organizations and radical Islamic organizations. On the whole, political Islam organizations that seek power, interfere with politics, promote fundamental ideologies and indirectly support terrorism, deserve to be listed as dangerous terrorist organizations. To illustrate: The Islamic terrorist organization ISIS is in reality a grandchild of the Muslim Brotherhood, since Al-Qaida, which gave birth to ISIS, was itself born out of the Muslim Brotherhood movement. These strong ties explain the stance taken by Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef al-Qaradawi in defense of ISIS, his announcement that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, and his disapproval of the international coalition’s strikes against ISIS.

Sixth: The inclusion of the “Association of Muslim Scholars” in the list of terrorist organizations was a bold choice on the UAE’s part. This union is essentially an international union of Muslim Brotherhood scholars and radical fundamentalists, which serve the Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar in their quest to manipulate and ultimately control Islamic affairs.

Seventh: By adopting this exceptional designation, the UAE made it evident that the countries which played a role in creating the problem can hardly be part of the solution. These terrorist organizations are the product of the so-called “Islamic awakening” which started in the seventies of last century. Countries that contributed to this awakening include Egypt (Sadat), Saudi Arabia (Faisal), Sudan (Numeri), Pakistan (Zia ul-Haq), Iran (Khomeini), the United States (Carter & Brzezinski), Qatar (Hamad) in the last ten years, and Turkey (Erdogan) in the last five years. It is difficult for these countries, which brought about this Islamic terrorist awakening, to produce a terrorist group designation list on the scale of the UAE. I am confident that Egypt would never entertain the idea of issuing such a comprehensive designation. As for Saudi Arabia, it issued a meagre list that mostly included political dissidents who threaten Saudi rule. It is also surprising and somehow disturbing that the United States has rejected the designation of CAIR, the Muslim American Society and the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations.

Eighth: The UAE also dealt a strong blow to the skilful manipulation of the notion of “Islamophobia” in the West, given that the Islamic organizations designated in the UAE’s list, and which operate in the United States and Europe, have created and pushed the term “Islamophobia,” waiving its spectre around whenever it has suited their purposes. As a matter of fact, Muslims enjoy significantly more freedom and liberties in the West than they do in their Islamic homelands. If that remains in question, then pray tell why is it that Muslims who live in Islamic countries are so intent on fleeing the freedom, happiness, faith and virtue abundant in their homelands only to emigrate to the West where they supposedly fall victims to Islamophobia.

Ninth: Furthermore, the UAE exposed Islamic terrorist organizations that claim to be resistance movements or freedom fighters, such as the Abu Sayyaf group in the Philippines, “the Caucasus Emirate” of the Chechen Jihadists, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Hezballah in Lebanon. These dangerous terrorist organizations have been receiving funds from oil countries and have garnered the sympathy of many Muslims, which has allowed them to recruit radical Muslims from all over the world. The UAE ought to be praised for exposing their true colors.

Finally, the UAE’s designation falls short in only one aspect, and that is the non-inclusion of fMuslim World League and Hamas in the list of terrorist organizations, even though it should be counted as one. This is likely due to the sensitive nature of the Palestinian cause and its impact on Arabic public opinion. That being said, Hamas was behind the creation of the terrorist organization “Supporters of Jerusalem” (Ansar Bait al-Maqdis) in Sinai. The name itself broadcasts a Hamas connection since none of the various Egyptian terrorist groups, as many as they are, ever took on Jerusalem “Bait al-Maqdis” as part of their names. But given that Hamas was majorly involved in establishing said terrorist organization, the reference to Jerusalem is a deliberate echo of Hamas’ philosophy. In addition, Hamas is receiving funds from several countries and from the International Muslim Brotherhood movement, and is actively engaged in recruiting, training and arming the Jerusalem supporters’ members.

The UAE came to the conclusion that the Islamic awakening, which produced those organizations, was not an innocent religious revival but rather a herald of ruin and destruction for the Middle East and the world. Consequently, it chose to unmask those organizations and reveal their true face to the entire world.

Scholar of Islam lays out his plan for American victory against jihad at Restoration Weekend.

Below are the video and transcript to Robert Spencer’s keynote speech at the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s 20th Anniversary Restoration Weekend. The event took place Nov. 13th-16th at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Robert Spencer: This a momentous occasion actually, because I’ve decided to take this opportunity as I stand before so many patriots and lovers of freedom to announce my candidacy for the Presidency of the United States. Now, you might think this is a joke and of course it is. I have no political experience, I’ve never held elected office, never even run for office. I have no organization, no staff and no money. I am not now and have never been a member of the Washington establishment. In other words, I’m just the man for the job.

There’s a serious point that I’m making here. The point is that the problem is not Barack Obama. The problem is not the Democrats. Barack Obama and the Democrats are just symptoms of the problem. The problem is an entrenched Washington establishment that keeps failing again and again and yet it keeps on applying the same failed solutions to problems. Presidents come and presidents go, but this establishment is forever and no matter how many times its remedies fail, it keeps on applying them without an ounce of self-reflection.

What we need is a massive housecleaning. What we need is a genuine outsider elected with a mandate to do this housecleaning, to really open up the windows in the State Department and let in the sunlight and clear out all these failed ideas that are doing nothing less than leading this nation into disaster.

The entrenched establishment is operating, of course in all areas but I’m going to concentrate on foreign policy because if we don’t stop making some of the major foreign policy mistakes that we are making, then we won’t have to worry about domestic policy before too long.

Chief among these is the millions that we are showering upon the Palestinians and the so-called peace process. Obama of course blames Israel for failing to make peace and blames the failure of peace talks on the so-called settlements in the West Bank and gives the impression that he believes or wants us to believe that if this settlement construction is stopped then peace will ensue and everything will be okay.

There’s just one word to show that that is obviously howlingly false and that one word is Gaza. We heard this song before. In 2005, we were told that the occupation was the problem and if Israel withdrew from Gaza the Gazans would pursue peace. Mortimer Zuckerman spent $14,000,000 to buy the greenhouses that the Israelis had constructed in Gaza in order to give them to the Palestinians so they would have gainful employ. The Palestinians gratefully received the greenhouses and immediately gutted them and converted them into weapon smuggling tunnels between Sinai and Gaza to get weapons to Hamas.

Obama and John Kerry want us to withdraw, want Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria, that is the West Bank, and they say the same things that we heard about Gaza. This will bring peace. This time, this withdrawal from this occupation, this is the one that’s going to do it and everything that will happen after that will be the result of the good benefits that come from this occupation. In other words, it will take the wind out of the Jihadi sails all together.

We saw that this didn’t work and yet keep trying it again. Why would the establishment of a Palestinian state now after the Muslims rejected it in 1948, rejected it in 2000, rejected many other times, why is it going to bring peace now? How could it when the goal of Israel’s total destruction which Hamas has repeatedly and recently reiterated still remains? Why would another Israeli withdrawal accomplish what the others never have?

And of course, Israel is not the only victim of our fantasy-based policy making. Another one is us, the American taxpayer. Another false assumption that is the basis of policy after policy is that poverty causes terrorism. Late in 2013 the U.S. and Turkey announced what they call the global fund for community engagement and resilience and John Kerry said that this will provide more economic opportunities for marginalized youth at risk of recruitment into Jihad groups.

Now look, we just saw on the news this morning another beheading of the U.S. hostage, Peter Kassig, Abdul-Rahman Kassig, whose conversion to Islam did not save him because he was still considered as a military veteran to be an American Crusader. The people who beheaded him, the people who were standing there in that video and issuing warnings to the United States and the free world, they were considering themselves to be the warriors of the law. They were considering that they were at the vanguard of a global revolution that will bring the law of God to the world and defeat the enemy infidel powers. Do you really think that if we gave them an opportunity to say, “Welcome to McDonald’s, may I take your order please,” that they would give it all up? That they would turn away from what they think is a glorious struggle in which they are the soldiers of God for a job at Walmart? It’s not going to happen. This is just going to be more hundreds of millions of dollars down the drain.

Not only that, but study after study has shown that terrorists are actually better educated and wealthier than their peers. Just yesterday the news came that another doctor from the UK fled the country and has joined the Taliban. He’s a doctor. He was well off, even with the socialized healthcare system in Britain. But nonetheless he went to Jihad.

Beyond the waste of money, our foreign policy is characterized these days by an appalling incoherence. Take Obama on Syria. The president of course has long wanted to take out Bashar Assad, but he’s been stymied by the fact that the only significant opposition to the Assad regime are, of course, Islamic Jihadis. The so-called vetted moderates. Some of the vetted moderates last year ransacked churches and drove Christians out of their homes in three Syrian towns. But now Obama is actually pursuing the strategy of removing Assad because he thinks that Assad is causing the Jihadi recruitment. So if we take out Assad then the Islamic State will melt away. We won’t even have to fight it. The raison d’être for the terrorists will be gone. Now he actually thinks this despite the fact that the Islamic State has made it clear that they don’t intend to stop with toppling Assad but they want to control not only all of Syria, but all of Iraq as well as Kuwait, Lebanon, Israel and Jordan and continue on after that. And so, the main problem with this idea is this. If he removes Assad he creates a power vacuum. What is the force that is the only one in position to take advantage of that power vacuum? The Islamic State. And so what he’s saying is in order to defeat the Islamic State we have to give the Islamic State what it wants and let it win. This is insane. And this is the policy of the United States government.

Now, this is all part of the idea that if we bring democracy to the Middle East, then peace will once again ensue, and so the United States decided to pursue a policy of toppling the dictators that we had previously supported in the Middle East. Saddam Hussein of course was first to go, and then Ben Ali in Tunisia, Mubarak in Egypt, Gaddafi in Libya. Of course, he was never a friend of the United States, but the idea was the same. That if these people were gone and the people in those countries had self-determination, then they would establish Western-style secular republics and once again there would be peace. Instead, of course there’s been chaos. The people that Barack Obama turned out to be supporting in Egypt and Libya were Muslim Brotherhood. They are in Syria as well. They did not want to establish western style secular republics but Sharia regimes. They did do so in Egypt for a year and they so alienated their own people that 30 million took to the streets and toppled them at that point. And yet, this policy is still in place and we are still pursuing it.

So, when I get to the Oval Office on January 20, 2017, and I promise never to put my feet on the desk, I will begin to sweep away all this and implement new policies.

First of all, no more aid, no more U.S. aid, not a penny to countries that engage in Sharia oppression. Just recently a Muslim mob murdered a Christian couple accused of blasphemy in Pakistan. And a Pakistani Christian leader called on Obama to make U.S.A. to Pakistan contingent upon the repeal of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws by which so many innocent people have been victimized, brutalized, murdered. Of course Obama ignored it but he should not have ignored it. He should have implemented it immediately and gone farther than that. There should be no more aid to any country or group that allows for or advocates the Sharia oppression of women and non-Muslims and that curtails the freedom of speech in accord with Islam’s prohibition on criticism of Islam.

And as for the Palestinians, they should get nothing at all, nothing, until they stop the genocidal incitement on Palestinian TV, teach their children that Israel must exist, that they have a right to that land, that it’s their land and that they must live peacefully with the Israelis. There is appalling genocidal incitement on Palestinian TV on a regular basis and it’s funded by us. This has to stop.

My second executive order will be to require that government intelligence and law enforcement agencies speak honestly and tell the truth about the threat we face. Of course, we know, as Geert Wilders reminded us yesterday, that immediately after a Jihad plot or a Jihad attack these days, Barrack Obama, John Kerry, David Cameron in the UK, a host of other leaders rush to the airwaves to tell us this has nothing to do with Islam. Well, they have nothing to do with rationality and common sense. And the problem is that this fantasy kills people. In Fort Hood the superiors of Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the Ford Hood Jihad murderer. They knew that he was in touch with Anwar al-Awlaki, the Jihad leader in Yemen. They knew that he himself was preaching Jihad and frightening his coworkers by preaching it. What did they do? Did they reprimand him? Did they fire him? Did they demote him? Did they prosecute him? No, they promoted him and praised him and said U.S. troops can learn a lot from him about Islam. And you know what? They did. But the lesson has still not been learned and the unreality still prevails.

Also, the Boston Marathon. The FBI disregarded, as Michele Bachmann told us yesterday, disregarded intelligence it received from the Russians about the bombers. The Russians said they were Jihadis. Right around this time, the FBI on orders from the Obama administration was removing all mention of Islam and Jihad from counter-terror training materials and had fired people who trained FBI members, including me, about the motives and goals of the Jihadis. And so they were being taught that Jihad is a benign spiritual struggle that ought to be encouraged. The Russians said this guy, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, is a Jihadi and they probably thought, oh how nice, and didn’t do a thing. And so more people were killed and some people were maimed for life and it is the result of this unreality.

We also have to end the exaggerated deference being paid toward mosques and the fact that the Islamic Society of Boston, which was not only where the Tsarnaev brothers went, but where you saw the Jihad video yesterday that Michele had, and that video was produced by a member of the Islamic society of Boston. Aafia Siddiqui went there. She’s serving 86 years for plotting to murder American soldiers in the name of Islam and Jihad. Tarek Mehanna went there. He’s doing 17 years for aiding al Qaeda, and the mosque itself was founded by Abdurrahman Alamoudi who is now in prison for funding al Qaeda. And yet the only time the FBI had been there was for outreach. Outreach. In other words, reassuring Muslims that the U.S. government is not Islamophobic. People are dying because of these things.

I will likewise as president call upon Muslim groups to renounce the aspects of Sharia that contradict constitutional freedoms. The U.S. government should call upon advocacy groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations to renounce in a sincere and genuine manner any intention at any point in the future to replace the U.S. Constitution with Sharia. And to implement in American mosques and Islamic schools, in a transparent and open way that is easily able to be inspected, programs to teach against this understanding of Islam that these groups ostensibly reject but have done nothing to counter. Did you know that the United Arab Emirates is more realistic about this threat right now than the United States? The UAE is cracking down on Muslim Brotherhood groups, and yesterday it listed as terrorist organizations a number of Brotherhood-linked groups around the world, including the Council on American Islamic Relations. Meanwhile, CAIR is meeting with FBI agents and with administration officials and is the go-to group for the mainstream media about Islamic issues. The UAE knows better.

Coming to an abrupt end on January 20, 2017 will also be all U.S. government cooperation with such groups and with any groups linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. As Wilders said yesterday, we also have to end immigration from Muslim countries into the United States. This is a simple matter of national security. It will of course be condemned as racism, but the harsh reality is that you cannot tell peaceful Muslims from Jihadis in any discernible manner. And so it is simply ridiculous and suicidal to continue to import whole communities of Muslims from hot Jihad areas like Somalia and Syria and Pakistan into the United States and drop them down into American communities. The strife has already begun in those communities and it’s going to get worse.

We need to reconfigure our internal alliances, which are based on old and outmoded cold war models. I mean, for example, we’re depending on Turkey to do so much to aid in the fight against the Islamic State, and yet the Turkish government has actually refused when John Kerry asked them to stop the oil sales by the Islamic State, which is financing their Jihad, the Turks said no. And the Turks are allowing ready passage of Jihadis through Turkey into the Islamic State and from the Islamic State through Turkey into Europe. And ultimately, no doubt into the United States.
And finally, we must begin a Manhattan Project to find new sources of oil and viable and new energy sources so that we end our foreign policy dependence upon states that aid and support Jihad. And of course, this means all of the options that are available. Offshore drilling, pipelines from Alaska and Canada, fracking, concerted research to find alternatives to petroleum. This should have been done on September 12, 2001, and every day we don’t do it is another day we lose that we could have started to turn this thing around.

And for the truth to prevail, there’s one more thing above all that we have to fight against. It’s a stronger enemy than the Islamic Jihadis, and stronger than Russia and China. And that is, of course, the entrenched culture that comes from the left, the culture of self-hatred that denigrates everything American and exalts the most inveterate America haters as heroic and underdogs striving valiantly against brutal behemoths like Israel. That entrenched culture is the foremost obstacle to our defense against Jihad terror, and it’s a never-ending tale of obfuscation about a genuine threat and slander of those who call attention to it. And we need to call upon the educational establishment to reject the revisionism and self-hatred that dominates textbooks today and more and more comes out every day about this. And to teach that Western civilization and culture are seriously threatened and worth defending. Islamic Jihadis are counting upon and calculatingly employing the rhetoric of inclusion and multiculturalism to gain for themselves entrée into highest levels of influence in the United States government, in the media, as well as the final edit of discussion on these issues in American textbooks. We have to demand a stop to this, relearn our own history, value it and teach it to our own children, teaching them to revere and not find new ways to deride those who built the political and legal institutions of this country.

Since I’ll never get a chance actually to deliver an Inaugural Address, I’ll end with an excerpt from the one I had prepared: We do not seek war with Muslim nations. If war is brought to us however, we will defend our nation, our allies, our freedom and our families. We will not be subjugated. We will never be subjugated. This is a different kind of war from the wars we’ve fought in the past. It is an ideological war and a war fought by believers in certain ideas rather than by soldiers from particular nations. And so we will, therefore, fight this new kind of war in a new kind of way. No nation of the world will be a friend to the United States if it holds the beliefs that led to the heinous attack on this nation on 9/11 and others after it. I invite and call upon the Muslims of the world to choose a society based on the principles of the freedom of speech and the equality of rights before the law of which the United States has been the foremost exponent. And make no mistake, we will defend those principles and we will prevail. Thank you.

Question over here? Richard?

Questioner: First of all, I want to let you know that you have five pledged delegates from the new Red State of Illinois.

Robert Spencer: The bandwagon is moving!

Questioner: Okay. The description before by Mike Finch of what groups are comfortable and where our people might be comfortable, there is a group within the Republican Party that wouldn’t be comfortable here. That’s the Grover Norquist wing which accomplished some serious infiltration during the Bush administration and David, really, and his organization, were the first to point that out and make that an issue. I would make a serious suggestion which is you draft what you have, put it in the form of a statement and provide that to all the potential Republican candidates for president and let’s see who’s serious about this issue.

Robert Spencer: Thank you, Richard. You know, that’s actually the idea of my framing it in this way. I’m hoping that these things, it seems to me this is just common sense matters of policy that should have been implemented right after 9/11 and I would hope that some candidates will have the courage to take them on. Yes, sir.

Questioner: Good morning, Robert.

Robert Spencer: Good morning, Mr. Cutler.

Questioner: Thank you so much, sir. I just want your forbearance instead of asking a question, just a fast comment. You were talking about the Tsarnaev brothers. And you know, yesterday I spoke about immigration. What most people don’t know — and this is why I’m so concerned about the single-minded focus on the Southwest border — the Tsarnaev brothers apparently committed fraud when they applied for political asylum. Yet their sister was first arrested about one month ago for threatening, it seems to be a family pattern, of blowing up her ex-boyfriend. Now, this isn’t lowhanging fruit. This is fruit in the basket. Why in the world were these folks still out and among us when they could have all been rolled up for having committed apparent fraud.

What I want people to understand is that if we don’t go after the integrity of the immigration system, not only admitting them, but providing political asylum and other abilities to embed themselves, we’re in deep trouble.

Robert Spencer: Absolutely.

Questioner: So what I suggest is don’t limit it to the Southwest border, folks. Think of immigration as a system and that’s where we’ve got to hammer the politicians. Don’t let them give you the copout of just looking at the border. They need to address the entire system. And thank you for indulging my comment.

Robert Spencer: Thank you. I couldn’t agree more. That’s extraordinarily important. The refugee resettlement program, which heavily favors Muslim communities and brings, as I said, whole communities and puts them in the middle of American towns and cities. That has nothing to do with the Southern border at all. It’s a matter of people flying in to the country by the sanction and invitation of the immigration service and the State Department and so on. And this has to be addressed.

Yes sir.

Questioner: Ken Abramowitz. Thank you for your comments. You didn’t mention anything about Iran. Iran has promised to kill everyone in America. Death to America. Death to America. Do you see any non-military solution to the Iranian situation?

Robert Spencer: A military solution to the Iranian situation would be very difficult.

Questioner: Do you see a non-military solution?

Robert Spencer: Oh, a non-military solution. No. I think that the strategy that the Israelis are apparently pursuing of strange accidents happening to Iranian nuclear scientists and strange technical failures at Iranian nuclear plants is very good and I hope that it continues on a larger scale. Militarily it would be very difficult to go into Iran. It’s a lot more formidable than Iraq or Syria or Afghanistan. And of course, now, with the impossible rules of engagement that the military is saddled with and the weakness of the military as has been explained here at this point after 13 years of war, it would be very difficult to get involved in Iran at this point. But I do think that there are other ways and ultimately will probably need to bomb some of the nuclear facilities as well.

Yes ma’am.

Questioner: So much of what’s happening with the Jihadis is related to social media and my question is does anybody have the authority to require this social media to shut down and is that a good idea in your opinion?

Robert Spencer: Does any — I didn’t hear.

Questioner: Does anybody have the authority to request that the social media shut this down and in your opinion is that a good idea?

Robert Spencer: I don’t think it’s a good idea. I know that they are recruiting in social media and in Facebook and Twitter you can see Islamic State supporters and, of course, I was just this morning working on Jihad Watch and saw the video of the beheading readily there. You Tube took it right down, but it was up at another site and I’m not sure that this should be stopped. Because I’m a strong advocate of freedom of speech in general but, this is not really a matter of freedom of speech, it is propaganda from an enemy during wartime. The problem is that I’m afraid that if you say to Facebook and Twitter that you need to stop the accounts of extremists, that they’ll stop mine. And those of people like us, rather than those of the Islamic State and other Jihadis. If we had a sane society and a sane group of people at the head of those organizations then it might be different, but not in the present climate.

Questioner: Does Islam exist without Jihad and Sharia?

Robert Spencer: Islam does not exist without Jihad and Sharia. There has never been a form of Islam that did not include the teaching that Muslims must fight against non-Muslims and impose Islamic law upon them and Islamic law denies them basic rights. There is no sect, no school of law, no understanding of Islam that has ever been in history that did not teach that. And so the idea that this is a tiny minority of extremists who have twisted and hijacked the teachings of the religion is absolutely false on the face of it.

Yes sir.

Questioner: As we have a head of the CIA who is a self-admitted Muslim, do we have a Muslim in the White House?

Robert Spencer: Well, you know, the head of the CIA is not actually a self-admitted Muslim. He is apparently a Muslim. John Guandolo, who was an FBI agent for many years, he says that when he was in the Bureau it was an open secret and it was well known that Brennan had converted while he served in Saudi Arabia. But Brennan has never actually publically addressed this either to confirm or deny it. And there was a story in, I believe, the New Yorker, a lengthy story about our counter terror apparatus a few years ago that identified a high level counter terror official as a convert to Islam, and that’s probably Brennan, but he has not openly admitted this. In any case, is Barack Obama a Muslim? I don’t know. He doesn’t answer my emails or return my calls. But I can tell you that, of course, in terms of Islamic law he is a Muslim because his father was a Muslim and his stepfather was a Muslim. He himself says that he got in trouble for making faces during Quran class. In one of his autobiographies he says this. In Quran class. In Indonesia you only went to Quran class if you were a Muslim. The Christians didn’t go to Quran class. Later on, of course he joined Reverend Wright’s church and during the 2008 campaign somebody called Reverend Wright’s church and said I’m a Muslim but I’d like to join your church. Is it okay? Can Muslims be members of your church? And they said, oh yes, absolutely.

And so, the thing is, ultimately though we do not know what Barack Obama’s personal beliefs are and I’m not sure he has any except for certainly Marxism and socialism. But there’s no doubt that everything about his foreign policy has been in line with the Muslim Brotherhood agenda, every aspect of it. And you can say, well no, he killed Bin Laden and al-Awlaki. Well sure. The Muslim Brotherhood has a different strategy. They do not generally pursue violence. They won the election in Egypt and took power. They didn’t bomb everything in Egypt and take power. It was a difference of strategy however, not of goal. And everything about the Muslim Brotherhood’s goal to bring Islamic law to various countries, Barack Obama has aided. So, whether he’s doing that because he is himself a Muslim or just because he thinks that Islamic law is a good thing for societies and that seems to be clear. I don’t think it makes really a difference in terms of his policies.

Yes ma’am.

Questioner: When Hillary runs do you think it’s a good idea that our side would introduce her connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, Huma Abedin, that whole section and would that be a beneficial route to take against her?

Robert Spencer: Well, the first way I’ll answer that is to say that if the Republicans bring up Hillary’s connections to the Brotherhood and Huma Abedin’s connections to the Brotherhood during the campaign, it will backfire on them and they will be denounced as racists and bigots and hate-mongers and so on. And so that is never going to happen. But what does need to happen in a larger sense is that there needs to be a general challenge to the idea that any talk about this is racism and bigotry and hatred and we have to stop tolerating it on the right. And all too often we do and people in the Republican establishment, they’re either with Grover Norquist as has been said and Grover Norquist is tied to the Brotherhood, or they are too afraid because they don’t want this controversy and they don’t want these charges of racism and bigotry so they’re too afraid to touch this issue. But that comes with a high price. As I said before, people are being killed because of our refusal to confront this issue honestly and so if we do not take it on, then it is only going to make things worse in the long run. It has to be confronted sooner or later.

Yes sir

Questioner: Good morning. Thank you very much for that very informative presentation.

Robert Spencer: Thank you.

Questioner: I come here to learn a lot more than what I get from other places, but as I listen to your presentation, why isn’t this the same as what happened to our country regarding communism which started slowly and Congress finally had open hearings to bring it the forefront of the American people? Why don’t we have something like that now? Because it seems to me the only way to get the Americans on board is to get Congress to have open hearings. Now certainly there are going to be those on the left that disagree and those on the right that are going to be different, but this is not different to me than communism but for one thing. These are groups that are not attached to countries. Communism was. So why not have open hearings in Congress to bring it to the American people?

Robert Spencer: Well, the answer is because it actually is a lot like the communist threat in the sense that the left was in terms of the communist threat and is in terms of the Jihad tied in with the enemy. And you know, you say there were congressional hearings and of course there were. But then, after that came the demonization of every opposition to communism as McCarthyism. And that persisted until the Berlin wall fell. And I remember all the time I was growing up and until I was 27 when it fell, knowing that fierce opponents of communism were stigmatized in the American mainstream and demonized and David Horowitz knows that very well from his own experience.

Questioner: But that’s the boldness of leadership. That’s the boldness of a Michele Bachmann. People like her that can do that.

Robert Spencer: Yeah. Well, we don’t bold have leaders now.

Questioner: And once you have a people that take [inaudible] of the world who give this after and don’t hear the demonization and characterization.

Robert Spencer: I couldn’t agree more. We need them. We do not have them. I hope that such leaders will emerge. But the sophistication of the propaganda apparatus to demonize and stigmatize anyone who speaks out about this threat and to marginalize them in the mainstream, it is much more sophisticated now than it was even during the Cold War. And so, I think that’s one of the reasons why these leaders have not emerged. That it is just political suicide to take on this problem. Pamela Geller and I had a conference at CPAC a few years ago that we called Jihad: The Political Third Rail. You know, the third rail in the New York subway is the one if you touch it you die. And that’s how most of our politicians regard this. But I do believe that’s wrong. They should not be playing this game and letting these people get away with this. We need a Reagan. I hope he emerges.

Questioner: We have time to make one more question? How about Sandy Usher up front.

Robert Spencer: There it is.

Questioner: Oh. Thank you. Robert, I liked the idea over here of you putting it in a bulletin point. So in putting it on your web site so that I can download it and pass it around.

Robert Spencer: I will.

Questioner: And I also want to tell everybody let’s pass it around. We’ve heard it. Let’s get it out there. We don’t have those bold leaders. And I send loads of Christmas cards every Christmas. I never send one without some bullet point information. There’s too much ignorance going on out there. That stamp costs a lot of money. I want to make it worthwhile. And, Robert, even you dear Robert, use the word mistake. This is no mistake, it’s design.

Robert Spencer: Oh yes. Absolutely.

Questioner: Yes. Thank you.

Robert Spencer: It’s a mistake in application but I have no doubt that it is on purpose. And actually Thomas Patrick brought this up a couple days ago in the same connection. I don’t know if he’s here now, but in any case, the fact is that during the 2008 campaign Barack Obama was seen reading The Post-American World by Fareed Zakaria, and he was very much engrossed in the book. He was carrying it to one airplane to wherever else he was going with his finger in his place. He wasn’t going to miss a minute in reading this book. Now, I don’t know if you know the book, but The Post-American World is about how if we want world peace, we have to weaken America, militarily, politically and economically and bring it down to the level of all the other countries and not have any super powers in the world and then there will be peace.

When Pamela Geller and I wrote the book The Post-American Presidency about Obama in 2010, we were arguing that that was the strategy he was pursuing, the Post-American World strategy to weaken America in order to bring about this chimera of world peace. And I think we’ve been abundantly proven correct in the four years since then.

Thank you very much.

Burson-Marsteller – one of the world’s largest PR firms – who refused to represent Israel, yet accepted Muslim Brotherhood as a client recently issued its annual Twiplomacy study. As they explain the study, “World leaders vie for attention, connections and followers on Twitter.” Social media of course continues to grow worldwide.

To no surprise, their study basically reveals that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a world leader with a very keen understanding of how media and influence works. Some years ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly said in an interview that the two main enemies facing Israel are The New York Times and Israeli newspaper Haaretz. “They set the agenda for an anti-Israel campaign all over the world. Journalists read these publications every morning and base their news stories … on what they read in the New York Times and Haaretz.”

Indeed, the “Twiplomacy study” revealed that for world leaders, The New York Times is the single most popular news source on Twitter – and Haaretz is the most-followed Israeli news source on Twitter amongst world leaders. Both of these media outlets are virulently opposed to Israel’s policies.

The journalists most followed by world-leaders should also be concerning to Israel supporters. The most-followed journalist by world leaders is CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour, whom many consider virulenty anti-Israel. Glenn Beck has called Amanpour “anti-Western,” “anti-Jew” and media watchdog organization CAMERA has called her a “frequent Israel basher.”

The 2nd most-followed journalist by world leaders on Twitter goes to another CNN anchor, Fareed Zakaria, who last year asked the Israeli Ambassador to the United States why Israel needs to be a Jewish state. Rounding out the top 5 comes NYT Columnists #3 Nicholas Kristof, #4 Paul Krugman (who has written that the policies of the current “narrow minded” Israeli government “are basically a gradual long-run form of national suicide”), and perpetual Anti-Israel critic Uncle Tom Friedman. (In 2011, Friedman described the Israeli government as “drunk,” “out of touch” and “in-bred,” and wrote that congressional ovations for Prime Minister Netanyahu were “bought and paid for by the Israel lobby.”)

The media is unabashedly Anti-Israel – and undoubtedly affects world policies.

Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the Zionist prophet some years ago noted,

Who were the first to teach us to always interfere in matters that are not ours, to judge people and nations, even though we were never chosen for the position of judge? The work of the publicist is a legacy from the Prophets of Israel…Our passion is to speak, to proclaim—‘Shouting” is what the same audience calls it, ‘we have no need for words, give us actions.’ One thing that audience forgets is that speech is also an action – Perhaps the most authentic of all actions. Cities have been destroyed, and more will fall, but what was shouted in the wilderness thousands of years ago is alive and still relevant. The world was created by the Word. The world will be mended by the Article.

Media bias hurts Israel – and anyone with the ability to influence media to tell the truth should do all they can to help improve Israel’s image.

The United Arab Emirates last week approved a list of 86 “designated terrorist organisations and groups, including the usual suspects – the UAE Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic State – along with two surprises, both with ties to Hamas: the Muslim American Society and the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

This surprising listing probably stemmed from both groups’ links to the Muslim Brotherhood. UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan doesn’t want to find himself overthrown by Islamic hardliners, and replaced by a Sharia government.

When the story first broke, I wrote at my website Jihad Watch: “If this is authentic, no doubt Hamas-linked CAIR’s Nihad Awad and Ibrahim ‘Honest Ibe’ Hooper are furiously working the phones today, calling on all their contacts in the U.S. government and elsewhere to get this reversed. What fun it would be to be a fly on the wall in Honest Ibe’s sumptuously appointed office today. Will the Obama administration’s Justice Department now denounce the UAE for ‘Islamophobia’?”

Close. It wasn’t Justice, it was State. U.S. State Department spokesman Jeff Rathke said Monday that the Obama Administration was “aware that two U.S.-based groups, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society, were included on the list.” Rathke said that the government was “seeking to gain more information on why, and “engaging UAE authorities” in order to do so.

A reporter then asked Rathke: “The State Department works…with CAIR all the time, no? I mean, there’s all sorts of outreach programs between the government and CAIR, right?”

Rathke seemed taken aback by the question: “I don’t know offhand whether we have a particular…I don’t have that information at my fingertips. But at any rate, we’re engaging UAE officials. These are U.S.-based groups so of course our – we are not in the lead then for domestically-based groups generally.”

It’s perfectly clear why CAIR and MAS were listed as terror organizations: because of their links to the Muslim Brotherhood. But the Obama Administration cannot accept that, as it has itself done so much to aid the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and elsewhere. Hence their inquiries to Emirati officials, which are a fresh indication of the unwholesome influence these groups wield in Washington. But the UAE has the right idea, even if it reverses itself under pressure from State — and we can only hope for a restoration of sanity in Washington that will end these groups’ influence before they do more damage.

CAIR is not a terrorist organization, if one considers violent acts an essential part of what defines terrorism: it doesn’t blow things up or exhort others to do so. It is, however, an Islamic supremacist organization with the same goals as those of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State: the imposition of Islamic law wherever and whenever possible. And while CAIR is quite mainstream these days, this self-styled “civil rights group” was actually named an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case by the Justice Department. CAIR operatives have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR’s cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Ibrahim Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements. Its California chapter distributed a poster telling Muslims not to talk to the FBI. CAIR has opposed every anti-terror measure that has ever been proposed or implemented.

CAIR’s dark side has been well known for years. Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) said that CAIR is “unusual in its extreme rhetoric and its associations with groups that are suspect.” Another United States Senator said of CAIR that “we know it has ties to terrorism,” and “intimate links with Hamas.” Those were the words of Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), and they have been proven correct.

Congressman Bill Shuster (R-PA) has said: “Time and again the organization has shown itself to be nothing more than an apologist for groups bent on the destruction of Israel and Islamic domination over the West.”

In June 2007, Federal prosecutors named CAIR as a participant in what the New York Sun called “an alleged criminal conspiracy to support a Palestinian Arab terrorist group, Hamas.” This was when CAIR was first designated an unindicted co-conspirator for its support for the Holy Land Foundation. The federal prosecution document described CAIR as a present or past member of “the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and/or its organizations.” The Muslim Brotherhood is the parent organization of both Hamas and Al-Qaeda.

CAIR was founded in 1994 by Nihad Awad and Omar Ahmad. Awad had been the President of the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP), and Ahmad its Public Relations Director. The IAP, which was shut down by the government in 2005 for funding terrorism, was founded in 1981 by a Hamas operative, Mousa Abu Marzook. Marzook currently heads Hamas’s “political bureau,” and is engaged in negotiations with Fatah in hopes of forming a Palestinian unity government. In the course of these negotiations, Hamas reaffirmed its refusal to accept Israel’s right to exist – which is tantamount to vowing its total destruction.

According to a report dated August 14, 2001, from the Immigration and Naturalization Services, the IAP was dedicated to “publishing and distributing HAMAS communiqués printed on IAP letterhead, as well as other written documentation to include the HAMAS charter and glory records, which are tributes to HAMAS’ violent ‘successes.’“ The same report also stated that IAP had received “approximately $490,000 from [Mousa Abu] Marzook during the period in which Marzook held his admitted role as a HAMAS leader.”

Randall Todd (“Ismail”) Royer was CAIR’s communications specialist and civil rights coordinator. He was part of the “Virginia jihad group,” which was indicted on forty-one counts of “conspiracy to train for and participate in a violent jihad overseas.” They were accused of association with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a jihad terrorist group.

Matthew Epstein of the Investigative Project has said that Royer helped recruit the other member of the group to the jihad while he was working for CAIR.

Royer was also among those charged in a separate indictment saying that they conspired to help Al-Qaeda and the Taliban fight against American troops in Afghanistan. And Royer admitted to a grand jury that he had already waged jihad warfare in Bosnia – with and that his commander took orders from Osama bin Laden.

According to Daniel Pipes, “Royer eventually pleaded guilty to lesser firearms-related charges, and the former CAIR staffer was sentenced to twenty years in prison.”

Then there was Ghassan Elashi, the founder of CAIR’s Texas chapter. He was charged in July 2004 with giving Hamas more than 12 million dollars while he was running the Holy Land Foundation. Elashi was convicted in November 2008 of providing material support to terrorism in connection with his role in the HLF. Earlier, Elashi was convicted in July 2004 of illegally shipping computers to two state-sponsors of terrorism, Libya and Syria. Then he was convicted in April 2005 of knowingly doing business with Mousa Abu Marzook, the senior Hamas leader who founded the IAP. Elashi was found guilty of conspiracy, money laundering, and dealing in the property of a designated terrorist.

Bassem Khafagi was CAIR’s community relations director. He pled guilty in September 2003 to lying on his visa application and passing bad checks, and he was deported. Before he worked for CAIR, he was president of the Islamic Assembly of North America (IANA) — which is under investigation by the Justice Department for terrorism-related activities. According to court documents, the IANA was devoted to spreading “radical Islamic ideology, the purpose of which was indoctrination, recruitment of members, and the instigation of acts of violence and terrorism.”

Rabih Haddad was a CAIR fundraiser who was arrested in December 2001 and deported. Again the charges were terror-related.

Maybe all these people had jihadist sentiments either before or after working for CAIR, but were completely moderate while working for it. Maybe. But this is just part of the picture. CAIR is, evidently, a moderate group has several onetime employees arrested on terror charges. It is a moderate group came out of another group that has been identified as the “primary voice in the U.S.” of a terror group. A moderate group that traffics in legal threats and intimidation against those of which it disapproves.

A moderate group?

No, the UAE was right: it’s a terrorist organization.

Young “Palestinian” men attack people in prayer at a synagogue in Israel. Five are now dead, many more grievously injured. The scene inside the synagogue is horrific and the wounds suffered by the victims, both living and dead, are truly hideous.

As the news spread throughout Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, Jews and Christians sobbed while “Palestinians” celebrated, passing out candy and snacks as if they were attending some gruesome tailgate party.

HAMAS issued a statement describing the two perpetrators as “heroes.” This is the same HAMAS that benefited from the money laundering activities of CAIR and ISNA in the United States; the same CAIR and ISNA that are prominently listed as “recommended reading” and partners in the Tri-Faith Initiative, right here in Omaha.

This is the same Tri-Faith Initiative that bills itself as an interfaith project to build “a multi-faith neighborhood of collaboration” between faiths, and to that end is co-locating a Synagogue, a Mosque and a Church all on the same physical campus, and inexplicably, refuses to disavow associations with known fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Despite being presented with reams of evidence from the FBI (which they studiously ignored and summarily dismissed), the leaders of the Tri-Faith Initiative have insisted on bulling forward with their project.

Dr. Mark Christian, the founder and Executive Director of the Global Faith Institute, has repeatedly called on the Board of the Tri-Faith to answer the question – “What do these groups provide that could ever outweigh the baggage they bring?”

The Tri-Faith board’s response has been a round-robin of defamation, legal threats and mockery. The board is indeed made up of powerful people in Omaha, and numbers Warren Buffett’s daughter Susie among its members. They have powerful friends and the ability to buy more.

What they do not have, is the support of the community of Omaha. Thanks to Dr. Christian’s tireless efforts, thousands of citizens are now aware of the dirty little secret the Tri-Faith had been hoping no one would discover – the fact that the organizers either never bothered to vet their new interfaith partners, or worse, saw the whole ugly truth and elected to hide it in service to some misguided notion of religious unity at all costs.

Either way, the citizens of Omaha now realize their city luminaries are actively running interference for well-documented and widely-known front operations for the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States. Their reasons for this may never be fully known and it serves no real purpose to speculate, aside from posing the question on everyone’s mind: “What were you thinking?”

Just the other day, the UAE included CAIR and the Muslim American Society on their list of terror organizations. Why? Because even the UAE knows the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR are inseparably linked.

As a writer, I have researched a great many stories on myriad subjects. Generally, it isn’t difficult for me to hold my emotions in check, to dispassionately appraise the information and write my remarks. It is very difficult to do so in this case.

I live in Omaha. My family is in Omaha.

I no longer care to hear platitudes and obfuscations from the leadership of the Tri-Faith Initiative. I will no longer accept half-measures and broken promises from our elected leadership in Omaha.

The most prolific purveyor of the Islamic supremacist ideology is the Muslim Brotherhood. They are the font from which ISIS, al-Qaeda, HAMAS and numerous others flow, and they are not an acceptable presence in Omaha.

My statement to Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert: You surely understand that we cannot safely afford to indulge Ms. Buffett’s craving for an interfaith legacy any longer, until she and her Tri-Faith partners, Rabbi Azriel and Dr. Mohiudden, abandon their present course and cleanse this project of the involvement of CAIR, ISNA, the MSA and groups like them.

Surely, after the carnage recently in Jerusalem and the incarnate evil of ISIS butchery, it is abundantly clear that there can be NO room in Omaha for Islamic supremacists or the groups through which they do their work.

The fatal flaw in the administration's strategy of mainstreaming radical political Islam.

Originally published by the Jerusalem Post.

In his speech on September 11 announcing that the US would commence limited operations against Islamic State, US President Barack Obama insisted, “ISIL, [i.e. Islamic State] is not Islamic. No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL’s victims have been Muslim.”

To be sure, it is hard to see how any human faith can countenance IS’s actions. For the past several months, on a daily basis, new videos appear of IS fighters proudly, openly and wantonly committing crimes against humanity. This week for instance, a video emerged of an IS slave market in Raqqah, Syria, where women and girls are sold as sex slaves to IS fighters.

Despite the glaring contradiction between divinity and monstrosity, the fact is that IS justifies every single one of its atrocities with verses from the Koran.

IS referred to its sex slave market in Raqqah for instance as the “Booty Market… for what your right hands possess.”

The phrase “what your right hands possess” is a Koranic verse (4:3) that permits the sexual enslavement of women and girls by Muslim men.

Whether it is mainstream Islamic jurisprudence or not to embrace the enslavement of women and girls as concubines is not a question that Obama – or any US leader for that matter – is equipped to answer. And yet, Obama spoke with absolute certainty when he claimed that IS is not Islamic.

Obama speaks with similar conviction whenever he refers to Iran as “The Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Obama’s consistent deference to the Iranian regime, exposed by his studious use of the regime’s name for itself whenever he discusses Iran indicates that at a minimum, he is willing to accept the regime’s claim that it is an Islamic regime. In other words, he is willing to accept that everything about the Iranian regime is authentic Islam.

And that the Islamic Republic then, in keeping with his assertion that “no religion condones the killing of innocents,” similarly does not condone the killing of innocents.

Of course, there is a problem here. In fact, there are two problems here.

First, in its treatment of its own people, the Iranian regime condones and actively engages in the killing of innocents, the vast majority of whom are Muslims. The Islamic regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran invokes the Koran to justify its killing.

Likewise, the political imprisonment, torture and general repression of Iranians from all faiths are justified in the name of Islam.

Consider two recent examples.

On October 25, 27-year-old Reyhaneh Jabbari was hanged for allegedly killing a man who was trying to rape her. Jabbari was imprisoned for seven years prior to her execution.

Although her suffering was a cause celebre for advocates of human rights in Iran, the regime didn’t care. In contempt of the international community, it murdered her a week ago.

As her attorney Mohammed Mostataei explained at a conference held by UN Watch in Geneva last week, Jabbari was tried under Islamic law – the law of the land in the Islamic Republic of Iran. And under Islamic sharia law, intent in adjudication of criminal offenses is irrelevant. As a consequence, once regime inquisitors force a person to confess, he or she is doomed.

Forced confessions are the stock in trade for Iranian investigators.

Last month, 25 women in Isfahan, Iran’s tourist capital, were reportedly victims of acid attacks.

The women had acid thrown in their faces while they were driving in their cars.

The public immediately suspected that they were targeted because their faces were not covered sufficiently to satisfy Islamic goon squads that drive around the city seeking – with the tacit if not open support of the regime – to terrorize the public into obeying their repressive, inhumane interpretation of Islam.

On October 22, human rights activists in Iran held demonstrations against the acid attacks outside the judiciary building in Isfahan and outside the Iranian parliament in Tehran. In both instances, protesters insisted that there is no difference between the repression inherent in the radical Islam propagated by IS and that practiced by the Iranian regime.

In both cities, demonstrators were attacked by regime forces with tear gas. Many were arrested.

After the acid attacks were first reported, the Iranian parliament passed measures to strengthen the authority of the regime’s Basij shock troop squads to enforce repressive, misogynist Islamic dress codes on women and enforce other socially repressive aspects of the regime’s Islam.

As Baron Alexander Carile of Barriew, a member of the British House of Lords and expert on terrorism explained last Friday in The Washington Times, “In essence, the regime responded to the acid attacks that have seriously injured 25 people so far by legitimizing the motives of their attackers.”

According to the UN, Iran executed 852 Iranians for various offenses from July 2013 through June 2014.

This of course is just the tip of the iceberg. The vast majority of the regime’s killing is carried out by its proxies.

IS’s persecution of those who have had the misfortune to fall under its control is a blight on the human race. And so is the persecution committed by Iran’s puppets – the Assad regime in Syria, and its Lebanese terror army Hezbollah.

Since the Syrian civil war began three years ago, the Iranian-controlled regime has killed somewhere between 120,000 and 200,000 people.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, nearly 10,000 of the dead are children, another 6,000 are women. Other groups place the number much higher.

More than 2.14 million Syrians are now refugees in neighboring countries. Half of the refugees are children. Another 4.25 million Syrians are internally displaced.

If it hadn’t been for Iran’s support for the regime, the vast majority of the victims of Syria’s civil war would still be alive and living in their homes.

Thanks to Iran and its Hezbollah army, Lebanon is on the brink of sharing Syria’s fate.

Hezbollah has played a major role in the war in Syria, and over the years, with Iran’s total backing, it has murdered thousands of people in Lebanon, Israel and throughout the world.

Hezbollah has trained sister Iranian supported or commanded terrorist groups like Islamic Jihad and Hamas. With the blessing, and often acting on direct orders from the Islamic Republic, these groups have killed hundreds of innocents. Like Hezbollah, Assad and the mullahs in Tehran, they have also repressed their own people in the name of their Islamic devotion.

And this brings us back to Obama and his insistence that IS is not Islamic, but the Iranian regime is Islamic. How are we to understand this seeming anomaly? Throughout his tenure in office, Obama has gone out of his way to mainstream Muslim extremists.

This has taken the form of granting senior appointments to people aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood. For instance, amid a Congressional investigation into suspected leaks, Mohamed Elibiary, a senior fellow at the US Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council, resigned his position.

Just before his resignation, Elibiary tweeted that the rise of the caliphate is “inevitable.” In 2004 he spoke at a conference in Dallas celebrating the legacy of Iranian dictator Ayatollah Khomeini. As Robert Spencer has reported, the conference was titled, “A Tribute to a Great Islamic Visionary.”

Moreover, Obama had befriended radical Islamic leaders who openly support terrorism, including Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

And of course, as we see more and more clearly each day, the centerpiece of Obama’s foreign policy has been appeasing the Islamic Republic of Iran in the hope of achieving détente with the nuclear weapons pursuing state sponsor of terrorism.

The likes of IS, with its love of the video camera, discredit Obama’s narrative that radical, terror- supporting Muslims are peaceful. Since IS is openly evil, it is un-Islamic.

On the other hand, despite the fact that it is nearly as barbaric as IS, the Iranian regime is Islamic, because as far as Obama is concerned, it is good. And it is good because he wants to make a deal with the mullahs.

In other words, Obama is neither an expert on Islam, nor a man moved by moral indignation.

He opposes IS because IS makes it hard for him to defend Islam from bad public relations. And he coos about the “Islamic Republic of Iran” because he is dedicated to his mission of whitewashing and mainstreaming the regime born of an Islamic revolution.

Why the leader of ISIS was a Muslim Brotherhood member.

Originally published by PJ Media.

Yet one more piece of evidence tying the United States to the Islamic State recently came to light. In a new video interview, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, one of the most authoritative clerics in the Muslim community who has his own program on Al Jazeera and is chairman of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, asserted that the leader of the head-chopping, infidel-crucifying Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was once a member of the Brotherhood, which the U.S. government, especially the Obama administration, has been allied with.

Indicators of a U.S./Brotherhood alliance are too many to list here and have been on open display from people like Hillary Clinton, former U.S. ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson, and Sen. John McCain (who may have taken pictures not only with known Islamic terrorists, but with al-Baghdadi himself).

According to Sheikh Qaradawi, “this youth [al-Baghdadi] was from the start among the top ranks of the Brotherhood, but he was inclined to [positions of] leadership and so forth… Then, after he spent years in prison [for Brotherhood activities] he came out and joined with them [nascent Islamic State],” eventually rising to be its “caliph.”

Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf), Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gom‘a said that “Qaradawi’s confession [concerning al-Baghdadi] confirms that the Brotherhood is the spiritual father to every extremist group.”

Even so, Qaradawi’s revelation was not meant to cast aspersions on the Brotherhood, especially as he is one of its spiritual fathers. More likely he was invoking the idea that imprisoning and suppressing “moderate Islamists,” namely the Muslim Brotherhood—most recently in Egypt’s last revolution—only leads to their “radicalization” and turn to violence.

This is a widely accepted meme, especially in the West. Al-Qaeda’s Ayman Zawahiri is another former Brotherhood member who is regularly portrayed as turning to “radicalism” and jihad after being imprisoned in Egypt in 1981—though any evaluation of the facts of his life demonstrate that he was a “radical” well before he was incarcerated, that he was imprisoned precisely because he was radical.

The idea that it is best to cooperate and ally with the “moderate” and “nonviolent” Muslim Brotherhood lest, aggrieved, it turns to “extremism, radicalism, and terrorism” has been swallowed by many Western academics and politicians hook line and sinker.

To understand this phenomenon, one need only turn to the “good cop, bad cop” routine and see how it captures U.S. behavior towards “moderate/nonviolent Islamists” (“good cops”) on the one hand, and “radical/violent Islamists” (“bad cops”) on the other.

According to the CIA Human Resource Exploitation Training Manual (as cited in the book Social Protest in Contemporary China, 2003-2010),

Good cop/bad cop, also called joint questioning and friend and foe, is a psychological tactic used for interrogation. “Good cop/bad cop” tactics involves a team of two interrogators who take apparently opposing approaches to the subject. The interrogators may interview the subject alternately or may confront the subject at the same time. The “bad cop” takes an aggressive, negative stance toward the subject, making blatant accusations, derogatory comments, threats, and in general creating antipathy between the subject and himself. This sets the stage for the “good cop” to act sympathetically, appearing supportive, understanding, in general showing sympathy for the subject. The good cop will also defend the subject from the bad cop. The subject may feel he can cooperate with the good cop out of trust or fear of the bad cop. He may then seek protection by and trust the good cop and provide the information the interrogators are seeking.

Consider how this definition applies to the U.S. government’s approach to the supposed Islamist dichotomy of “violence” and “nonviolence.”

The violent jihad—whether under the rubric of “al-Qaeda,” “Islamic State,” etc.—like the “bad cop” “takes an aggressive, negative stance towards the subject [U.S./“infidels”], making blatant accusations, derogatory comments, threats, and in general creating antipathy between the subject and himself.”

Thus the violent jihadis become the “feared enemies” who cannot be reasoned with.

This of course sets the stage for the “good cops,” the purportedly nonviolent Islamists, namely, the Muslim Brotherhood, to step in

appearing supportive, understanding, in general showing sympathy for the subject. The good cop [“moderate” Brotherhood] will also defend the subject [U.S. interests] from the bad cop [Islamic jihadis]. The subject [U.S.] may feel he can cooperate with the good cop [“moderates”] out of trust, or fear of the bad cop [terrorists].

This in fact is the idea long spearheaded by Mideast academics and talking heads—that there are “nonviolent” Islamists and “violent” Islamists, and that the best way to weaken the appeal of the latter is to cooperate with the former, which, after all, shouldn’t be too hard, since the “good cop moderates” come in suits, smile, and shake hands over cups of coffee.

For instance, CDR Youssef Aboul-Enein, an Obama advisor, argues in his book, Militant Islamist Ideology: Understanding the Global Threat, published by the Naval Institute Press (2010), that “It is the Militant Islamists who are our adversary. They represent an immediate threat to the national security of the United States. They must not be confused with Islamists.” Aboul-Enein, like many before and after him, argues that U.S. leadership should work with the nonviolent Islamists in order to weaken the appeal of the militants.

And yet, just as the “good cop/bad cop” is a false dichotomy in that the both “cops” are working together and for the same goal, so too is the “nonviolent Islamist/violent Islamist” a false dichotomy in that both groups of Islamists are working together and for the same goal—the resurrection of a Sharia-enforcing caliphate, which the Islamic State (“violent Islamist”), led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a former Muslim Brotherhood member (“nonviolent Islamist”), recently accomplished.

Britain’s The Telegraph reports that Britain is aiming to take serious measures against the Muslim Brotherhood. The situation contrasts notably with the one in the U.S., where—among much else—the Obama administration has cut back ties with the current, geopolitically moderate Egyptian government because—backed by the most massive popular protest in world history—it came to power by overthrowing a Muslim Brotherhood regime that the administration favored.

As The Telegraph describes it:

Downing Street is to order a crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood and a network of Islamist groups accused of fuelling extremism in Britain and across the Arab world.

[Prime Minister] David Cameron launched an inquiry into the Brotherhood earlier this year, prompted by concerns it was stoking an Islamist ideology that had encouraged British jihadists to fight in Syria and Iraq.

Sir Richard Dearlove, the former head of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), is an adviser to the inquiry and “is reported to have described [the Brotherhood] as ‘at heart a terrorist organization.’”

The Telegraph adds that:

A senior source close to the inquiry said its report—compiled but not yet published—had identified “an incredibly complex web” of up to 60 organisations in Britain, including charities, think tanks and even television channels, with links to the Muslim Brotherhood, which will all now come under scrutiny.

The inquiry, aided by the security services, has also investigated its network abroad. One expert said that the Brotherhood was now operating from three major bases—London, Istanbul and Doha, the capital of Qatar.

That the Brotherhood operates out of Turkey and Qatar is, of course, not news to politically sentient people in the Middle East, who are well aware of the Turkey-Qatar-Brotherhood-Hamas axis.

As for what Britain plans to do about its domestic Brotherhood terror base:

The Government crackdown will stop short of outlawing the Muslim Brotherhood but action is expected to include:

Þ Investigations into charities that are effectively “fronts” for the Brotherhood;

Þ Inquiries into funding of the organisation and links to jihadi groups abroad;

Þ Banning clerics linked to the group from countries such as Qatar and Turkey from coming to Britain for rallies and conferences.

In other words, the British government has come around to viewing the Brotherhood the way it is viewed in the U.S. by people who are considered Islamophobic and bigoted for raising such issues.

Politically incorrect U.S. conservatives have for years been calling attention to the role of Brotherhood-linked officials in the administration, the stealth jihad practiced by Brotherhood front organizations, the domestic Brotherhood’s ties to foreign terror, and the Obama administration’s very problematic sympathy and support for the Brotherhood.

As Andrew McCarthy, writing in 2012, described the situation back then:

The State Department has an emissary in Egypt who trains operatives of the Brotherhood and other Islamist organizations in democracy procedures. We’re helping them get elected.

The State Department announced that the Obama administration would be “satisfied” with the election of a Muslim Brotherhood-dominated government in Egypt….

On a just-completed trip to Egypt, Secretary Clinton pressured the ruling military junta to hand over power to the newly elected parliament, which is dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, and to the newly elected president, Mohamed Morsi, who is a top Brotherhood official.

Last month on Breitbart Katie Gorka noted that:

On June 13, 2012, five members of Congress called for an investigation into Muslim Brotherhood influence operations in the Obama administration. The five members—Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Trent Franks (R-AZ), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Tom Rooney (R-FL), and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA)—were widely criticized for doing so, even by their own Republican leadership, including John McCain (R-AZ), John Boehner (R-OH), and Mike Rogers (R-MI).

Meanwhile, Gorka points out, it is none other than the New York Times that has published a major exposé of foreign governments’ influence-buying at U.S. think tanks—focusing especially on Brotherhood-patron Qatar’s large donations to the Brookings Institution and other centers. The Times observed that these think tanks “push…United States government officials to adopt policies that often reflect the donors’ priorities….”

Gorka also recalls the Justice Department’s “sweeping review” in 2011 of

all counter-terrorism trainers and materials used throughout federal law enforcement and every branch of the military. Hundreds of training slides were reviewed by an anonymous panel of reviewers. Many trainers were forbidden from future training and material that used terms like “jihad,” “Islamic terrorism,” or “Islamist violence….”

The general purge of “incorrect” terminology led famously, of course, to the administration’s dubbing the 2009 Fort Hood massacre as “workplace violence.”

The administration’s ongoing affinity for the Brotherhood camp was well evident this summer during the Gaza War when Secretary of State John Kerry demanded that Israel negotiate a ceasefire with Hamas under Turkey’s and Qatar’s auspices. Israel’s (along with Egypt’s) refusal to do so was one of the factors that led the administration to embargo all arms to Israel for days.

That Britain has come to recognize the Muslim Brotherhood’s terrorist, jihadist nature is encouraging news. It can be hoped that, by 2016, a U.S. administration will—unlike the present one—be able to as well.

The new passageway of ISIS terrorists into Syria.

Turkey may well be the jihadists’ fifth column in NATO.

Turkey’s autocratic Islamist president, Tayyip Erdogan, has allowed Turkey’s border to become a passageway for jihadist fighters streaming into Syria to join ISIS and the al Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra.

Oil from fields in Iraq and Syria under ISIS control has been regularly transported into Turkey, and sold to black market traders at below international oil market prices. Turkey itself is reportedly a major buyer of the cheap black market oil. The income from ISIS’s oil sales through the black market, as much as $30 million a month, helps finance ISIS’s expansion, making Turkey one of ISIS’s key bankrollers and enablers.

Turkey has also allowed ISIS recruiting networks operating online and through religious study groups to flourish within its borders. Turkey’s Milliyet newspaper reported that as many as 3,000 Turks have joined ISIS. For a government that has cracked down harshly on Kurdish dissidents and on journalists reporting inside Turkey who dare to question Erdogan’s policies, Erdogan’s regime has not appeared to have discouraged ISIS recruitment within its borders or the flow of recruits from Turkey, and the flow of recruits from other countries traveling through Turkey, who are joining ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria.

Despite pressure from the United States, Erdogan has held back from making any significant contributions to the U.S.-led anti-ISIS coalition, fearing that Syria’s Assad regime and Kurds would benefit to Turkey’s detriment. Even after Turkey secured the release of its citizens held by ISIS – reportedly through a prisoner exchange with ISIS – Turkey is not acting like an active NATO partner.

Turkey may now decide to provide a show of token support to the coalition to humor Obama and win U.S. support for Turkey’s bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council next year. However, the fact is that Erdogan is on the side of the jihadists and will use a seat on the Security Council to push an agenda that is both pro-Islamist and anti-Israel.

Erdogan’s active support of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood speaks for itself. And if there were any doubt where Erdogan’s sympathies lie, one only need to take a look at his speech to the United Nations General Assembly last week.

Instead of expressing moral outrage at the jihadists’ slaughters in Iraq and Syria, for example, Erdogan engaged in a gratuitous attack on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who had responded to mass demonstrations in Egypt demanding an end to the theocracy that the jihadists were seeking to impose forcibly on Egyptian citizens. Erdogan was upset that his Muslim Brotherhood jihadist buddy Mohamed Morsi was no longer Egypt’s leader:

“The United Nations as well as the democratic countries have done nothing but watch the events such as overthrowing the elected president in Egypt and the killings of thousands of innocent people who want to defend their choice. And the person who carried out this coup is being legitimized. If we are going to defend people who come to power through coups, then I ask the question why we exist as the United Nations.”

Erdogan’s pettiness was evidenced by reports that he refused to attend a luncheon hosted by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon last week when he learned he would be sitting at the same table as President Sisi.

Instead of playing a constructive role, like Egypt did, in trying to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza on terms that were not a complete give-away to Hamas’s demands, Erdogan did what he could to undermine Egypt’s efforts. He has previously referred to President Sisi as a “tyrant” who could not be trusted to broker a cease-fire.

Egypt’s foreign ministry put out a statement after Erdogan’s General Assembly speech exposing Erdogan’s hidden agenda to restore the Ottoman Empire’s glory days of the past:

“There is no doubt that the fabrication of such lies and fabrications are not something strange that comes from the Turkish President, who is keen to provoke chaos to sow divisions in the Middle East region through its support for groups and terrorist organizations. Whether political support or funding or accommodation in order to harm the interests of the peoples of the region to achieve personal ambitions for the Turkish president and revive illusions of the past.”

Erdogan told the Council on Foreign Relations, in a speech he delivered a day before his General Assembly address, that everything would have been hunky-dory if only the Ottoman Empire had remained intact. He said that “we see significant crises taking place in the Middle East and Eastern Europe today, and up until 100 years ago, these areas were governed from the Ottoman capital, Istanbul. The Palestinian issue, the problems in Iraq and Syria, Crimea, the Balkans are all issues that emerged following the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire.”

Erdogan has in the past evoked the imagery of the Battle of Manzikert as a symbol for Turkish youth to look up to and emulate. The Battle of Manzikert occurred in 1071, when the Seljuk Turks decisively defeated the leading Christian power of that era, the Byzantine Empire.

In sum, Erdogan shares the same goal as ISIS – the restoral of an Islamic caliphate – even if they ultimately spar over who will control the caliphate.

Erdogan said in his General Assembly speech that Turkey stands against terrorism. But Erdogan’s concept of whom qualifies as a terrorist is focused on the Jewish state. “Israel is a terror state; they are creating a wave of terror with what they’re doing now,” he told CNN in an interview last July, referring to Israel’s military actions to defend its civilian population against Hamas’s rocket attacks and terror tunnels. “Right now, we are a member state of NATO and we are a country which acts within the framework together with our partners in NATO. We have an international identity, a character. We never got involved with terror – we have always fought against terror.”

Erdogan is engaging in taqiyya, the Islamic doctrine of deceit. Turkey, for example, actively supports Hamas, a jihadist group that engages in terror against civilians and is the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood which Turkey supports as well. While denying in his remarks to the Council on Foreign Relations that he harbored any anti-Semitic feelings, Erdogan condemned Israel for what he called its ”massacres” in Gaza. He said the Palestinian issue “is an important issue that has an impact not just on the Palestinians, but on all the Muslims and everyone who has a conscience in the world.”

But Turkey’s “conscience” is very selective. Turkey has a double standard when it comes to the issue of “occupation” and “settlers.” While consistently condemning Israel for alleged occupation of Palestinian lands and allegedly illegal settlements, Turkey continues its own illegal occupation of northern Cyprus following its invasion of the island in 1974. Tens of thousands of mainland Turks have settled on Cypriote land that does not belong to them, under the protection of thousands of Turkish soldiers who do not belong in Cyprus.

At a UN press briefing by Republic of Cyprus President Nicos Anastasidades on September 26th, I asked him to comment on Turkey’s evident hypocrisy regarding the occupation and settlements issue, which it raises in every available forum with regards to Israel but evades when it comes to itself. President Anastasidades agreed that Turkey was displaying a double-standard. This exchange was later removed from an official UN video record of the press conference. Did Turkish officials, who several years ago made UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon apologize for an alleged incident involving an altercation between UN security personnel and Turkish personnel, demand a censoring of the video to remove the criticism of Turkey’s hypocrisy on the occupation and settlements issue? Given the Turkish government’s regular anti-press campaign of intimidation in its own country, it would not be surprising if they did, but we will probably never know for sure.

However, one thing is for sure. Turkey is not a reliable member of NATO or U.S. ally. Its president’s sympathies lie with the jihadists and the enemies of Western style democracy. If Turkey does not unequivocally change its ways, steps should be considered to end its membership in NATO and to re-align the U.S. strategic relationship in the region further away from Turkey.

The bigotry and double standards of one of the nation's leading PR firms.

The world of public relations is filled with constant pressures and moving parts. As CEO of one of the largest US PR firms, I know and understand the intricacies of spin.

Last week, the Emirate of Qatar hired one of the world’s largest PR agencies, Portland Communications, “for a communications/political push targeted at Congress and federal agencies to improve ties with the United States.” Qatar follows sharia law and has numerous human rights issues. On the heels of that partnership comes the revelation that recently released federal government filings indicate that Burson-Marsteller, one of the world’s leading PR firms has been hired to improve the foreign image of Tunisia’s Ennahda Party, a Muslim Brotherhood-inspired organization. The Ennahda Party has good reasons to have close American ties given the upheaval Islamist-backed governments have caused in the Middle East.

While paying homage to Middle Eastern money isn’t an anomaly to only the PR industry, the shock is that the same firm taking money from the Muslim Brotherhood refused to work for Israel, calling the Jewish State “highly controversial.” Sigurd Grytten, Managing Director of Burson-Marsteller, refused Israel’s request for a meeting, explaining, “We will not deliver tender to such a project … we are running a commercial venture. If we accept this project, this will create a great amount of negative reactions … Israel is a particularly controversial project.”

As a Jerusalem Post editorial on the Ennahda Party described,

[T]he movement’s members have been implicated in both incitement and violent actions against Tunisian and foreign targets. The party supported the 1979 embassy takeover in Iran, and evidence suggests it was responsible for bombing four tourist hotels in the 1980s.

A party leader “called for attacks on US interests in the Middle East in response to America’s invasion of Iraq in the Gulf War,” and more recently, the organization spoke of “victory” of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, and opposes relations with Israel.

In the eyes of my peers in the PR industry, a party inspired by the Muslim Brotherhood is mainstream – and Israel is “a particularly controversial project.” Fascinating times we live in.

Dr. Mark Christian confronts stealth Jihad in Omaha.

[Mark Christian can be contacted at: mark@globalfaithinstitute.org].

Dr. Mark Christian is the President and Executive Director of the Global Faith Institute (GFI), a Christian organization based in Omaha, Nebraska dedicated to “the proclamation and pursuit of truth as it relates Middle Eastern history and current happenings.” Dr. Christian, an Egyptian-born Christian convert from Islam related to high-ranking leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, is now engaged in a battle to root out the Brotherhood influence in what is called the Tri-Faith Initiative, a building project in Omaha.

The Tri-Faith Initiative was begun to build a center comprised of Temple Israel, a new Episcopal church, and a mosque the American Institute of Islamic Studies and Culture in West Omaha, forming “a multi-faith neighborhood of collaboration.” Their “vision is to build bridges of Respect, Trust and Acceptance, to challenge stereotypes of each other, to learn from one another, and to counter the influence of extremists and agents of hate.” But as a GFI statement reads, “the mosque – and those behind it – have distinct ties to groups previously named as ‘unindicted co-conspirators’ in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, the largest terrorist funding investigation in our nation’s history.”

Dr. Christian recently appeared on the Glazov Gang show with FrontPage’s own Dr. Jamie Glazov to discuss his religious conversion and the Initiative. He also co-wrote an article for FrontPage Magazine on how the Initiative mirrors the conditions for dhimmitude which originated in Islam’s earliest days. Dr. Christian also appeared onstage with Jamie Glazov at an event hosted by GFI in Omaha on August 7, when both men confronted Dr. Naser Z. Alsharif, Director of the Middle East Cultural and Educational Services, over the Muslim Brotherhood’s subversive connection to the Tri-Faith Initiative. [The video of Jamie Glazov’s fiery attack on Alsharif can be seen here]

Dr. Christian was kind enough to make himself available to answer a few questions.

Mark Tapson: Can you talk briefly about your own background as a former Muslim, why you converted to Christianity, and what it was like for you as a Christian convert in Egypt?

Mark Christian: Growing up I was a very devout Muslim. I was indoctrinated into the Islamic theology and teachings at a surprisingly young age. I was very active in memorizing and learning the Quran, serving at mosques and acting as an imam.

Eventually, after extensive Islamic theological and historical study, I began seeking answers regarding the fundamental tenets of Islam, a query which – though vehemently opposed – exposed the Islamic myth; a quest which, after years of deliberation, ultimately led to walking away from Islam, based on the inconsistencies I discovered.

After nearly 10 years of “spiritual wandering,” I would come to discover the truth of Jesus Christ and commit my life to Him, diverted destiny, ditched Islam for good, and eventually became devoted to follow my Lord and savior Jesus Christ in March, 2003, a conversion which later ignited a murderous hatred from my own father and family.

MT: How does your background, and having relatives in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leadership, inform your concerns about what may really be going on in the Tri-Faith Initiative?

MC: Though never a member myself, my great-uncle is one of the founders of the Muslim brotherhood, my father is a member since his teens and still is a persuasive advisor for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt – as well as through my uncle, who, during the massive imprisonment of the Muslim Brotherhood members in Egypt in 1965, shared a cell with Sayyid Qutb, the revered and infamous ideologue for the Brotherhood’s movement. My experience with the Muslim Brotherhood revolved specifically around their “re-grouping” period, which, beginning in the 1970’s, gave me a direct view of their machinations and motivations.

I came to America in 2005, where I developed an increasing awareness of the shocking degree of Islamic infiltration and their prolific agenda in the United States. Recognizing the urgency of this grim threat to cherished American freedoms, I responded through the formation and leadership of Global Faith Institute.

MT: How do you respond to the Muslim representatives of the Tri-Faith Initiative who disavow any connection with the Muslim Brotherhood and who dismiss your concerns of a cultural jihad?

MC: I would ask them to open their books to an independent auditor on an ongoing basis, first to ensure that these organizations are indeed uninvolved, and secondly, to ensure that they do not reenter the project at a later date.

I would ask them why they invited the then-President of the Islamic Society of North America, a known Muslim Brotherhood front group, to be the keynote speaker for their groundbreaking gala celebration.

I would ask them to explain why ISNA is listed as the head of their national movement on the Tri-Faith website, just as the Union of Reform Judaism and the Episcopal Church of North America is listed for the other Tri-Faith partners, and why CAIR brochures are “Recommended Reading” for those who wish to learn more about Islam.

Perhaps more importantly though, I would ask them how they reconcile the repugnant ideological component groups like CAIR and ISNA carry with them. An organization does not spring forth from the Muslim Brotherhood, funded and established as an operational arm of the MB in America, simply to abandon the Islamist underpinnings of its founders.

Indeed, in the case of ISNA, the Islamic Society of North America, all but one of the original Muslim Brotherhood founders are still with the organization, or one of its affiliates. Clearly the reality trumps the empty disavowals.

MT: What’s wrong with the notion in general of interfaith initiatives like Tri-Faith? Can they ever lead us to really “coexist,” as the bumper sticker says, or can there be no compromise?

MC: I love the idea of the Tri-Faith. When I first became aware of it I was elated at the prospect of a true interfaith dialogue between historically incompatible beliefs. I still believe that many Muslims have no interest in pursuing the hatred of the Islamists, they simply want to practice their faith as do Christians and Jews, peacefully and without coercion.

The problem however lies in the unwillingness of these moderates to assert themselves against the more vocal and often violent cadre of Muslims who believe in the spread of Islam by any means necessary.

They find themselves in a difficult position: do they adhere to the unreformed teachings of an irredentist Islamist ideology or do they adopt the mores of the western nations they live in, freedom of religion, association and a revulsion toward religious bigotry? Too often they follow the former path and it is this sad fact that dooms interfaith efforts to failure before they even begin.

Interfaith dialogue requires transparency, trust, and above all, a shared belief that each of us have the freedom to worship as we choose, or perhaps not to worship at all. Only one participant operating in violation of these precepts is needed to change the interfaith dynamic into a competition, or worse, a subjugation.

I know that the ideology behind CAIR and ISNA is poisonous to a cooperative interfaith project. They cannot operate as merely one among equals. They will always push Islam to the fore, at the expense of the other partners. My background as a former Muslim, my training to be a Muslim leader and my intimate understanding of the Muslim Brotherhood itself, taught to me from the inside, by my father and my uncle, tells me that when the Brotherhood is involved, Islam will reign, or Islam will fight.

Already, the Muslims have exerted authority not given to the other members of the Tri-Faith by insisting that the Synagogue and the Church have no outward indications of faith, such as a Cross or a Menorah, or Star of David.

Now, they will deny this, but have you ever found a church that was offended by a synagogue displaying the Menorah, or a synagogue that demanded a church hide its Cross? Of course not. Only the Muslims have a problem with that, and already they have exercised that bit of power over their partners, before the buildings were even built. With the involvement of CAIR and ISNA, those little insinuations of doctrine will increase, until finally, Islam stands supreme over the conduct of the entire project. It is this eventuality we are hoping to prevent.

MT: On the GFI home page it is written that “we as American Christians have sacrificed the truth for comfort and compromised our faith.” Can you expound on that a bit? How can Christians lead the way back to America becoming a “shining city on a hill”?

MC: We are fortunate to live in a nation where the sovereignty of the individual is respected in law. We have rights that are not subject to the whim of governments and this has led to a blossoming freedom unlike any seen before. But it has also created a complacency, a tendency among many to take for granted our freedom to worship.

We have ignored countless minor assaults on our faith until now – the sum total of these threatens to undermine our faith entirely. We sacrifice truth for comfort. We fail to stand up to the bigots and bullies who try to dominate or delegitimize our faith, turning instead to the easy path, allowing these little intrusions, bearing the indignity in order to avoid the confrontation.

We can’t lead our families in faith, nor show ourselves before others as an example of what His mercy can do, unless we are willing to face those confrontations with God’s grace and to stand firm against that which we know is wrong, no matter the cost in prestige, reputation or, as the Christians of Iraq and Syria are now experiencing, our lives.

Stand firm now, and we will never reach that point here in America, and God willing, we can relight the beacon of hope for those around the world who are not as fortunate as we. We can turn back the 7th century ideologues who believe God wishes his salvation to come through a sword on an unbeliever’s neck.

Reprinted from WND.com.

A prominent Muslim has been challenged to explain whether or not Islam demands the slaughter of Christians and, if not, why American Muslims aren’t vocally condemning atrocities in the Middle East.

In a panel discussion held in Omaha, Nebraska, by the Global Faith Institute, Muslim panel member Naser Z. Alsharif, head of the Middle East Cultural and Educational Services, was challenged by FrontPage Magazine Editor Jamie Glazov.

“Frankly … it’s so sickening how you snicker so condescendingly on this stage while Christians are being massacred by your co-religionists,” Glazov said.

“You should be up here apologizing that there is an Islamic theology that you’re a party of that your co-religionists are quoting while they’re massacring Christians and kidnapping Nigerian Christian girls.”

The panel was put together by Mark Christian, the president of Global Faith, a group that is trying to stop the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of the “Tri-Faith Initiative” in Omaha, an effort where planners want to build a Jewish synagogue, Christian church and Muslim mosque on the same campus.

Glazov, author of “United in Hate” and “Showdown with Evil,” recently was criticized by a guest on Sean Hannity’s Fox News Channel program as “a disgusting person” for claiming people who contend Islam has nothing to do with terrorism are complicit in acts of violence carried out by Muslims.

A Muslim proponent of the Omaha interfaith project responded to criticism that it is joining forces with groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Islamic Society of North America. Defenders argue the groups are allowed to do business with the federal government.

But Glazov pointed out the two Islamic groups were named unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism-funding trial, the largest of its kind in U.S. history.

Further, he said, CAIR and ISNA were founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, which has declared its objective in America is to destroy society from within.

In an interview with WND, Glazov explained what America would look like under Islam.

“Killing of apostates, church and synagogue burnings, genocide against religious minorities, slavery, stoning of adulterers and other monstrosities would be codified into the law. In other words, a nightmare,” he said.

Glazov said “our totalitarian and terrorist enemies manipulate and exploit ‘dialogue’ with us as a weapon to weaken and destroy us – a tactic which is found in Muslim Brotherhood documents.”

He said the political left, “which controls our culture,” tries to

“appease our enemy, a desire which is based on the Stockholm Syndrome assumption that we can change our enemies’ intentions toward us by us doing something for them or changing something in our own behavior.”

He made it clear that ISIS, whose reported atrocities across Iraq include beheading Christian children and crucifying their parents, is “the true Islam.”

“Anything we see in the West which looks ‘moderate’ appears that way because Muslims who are lucky enough to be separated from Shariah by Western influences, laws and environments, can practice ‘selective’ Islam,” he explained. “They will not have that privilege when Islam becomes the ruler of the land.”

Since its founding, Islam has had rules for Christian minorities under Muslim domination. Among the restrictions: Christians cannot build or repair a church without permission, display a cross, proselytize or “congregate in the open.”

ISIS is applying those restrictions and others in Iraq and Syria.

Glazov noted that a memorandum of understanding under which the three religious buildings would be constructed in Omaha stipulates that there be “no outward indications of the Jewish faith” and “no exterior display of the cross.”

The planned mosque, however, “features a very prominent crescent and star, an internationally known symbol of Islam.”

On the Hannity program, Glazov said, “So many people are afraid to come forward because they’re called ‘dangerous’ people. They’re called ‘racists, Islamophobes.’ But we’re the ones on the side of the victims, including Muslims.”

Video of the exchange on “Hannity,” Glazov speaks at the 11:45 and 32:00 minute marks:

In an interview on his own “The Glazov Gang” Web program with Ann-Marie Murrell, a WND columnist and author of the upcoming book, “What Women (Really) Want,” Glazov contended the left is winning the culture war, in part, because of its effective strategy of “demonizing” those who tell the truth about Islam:

“What I’m so tired of hearing and what I was saying on the show is how the left has constructed the boundaries of debate,” he said.

“[We're] standing up for the victims of jihad and Islamic gender apartheid, and this means we’re also standing up for many Muslim victims, for many Muslim people. Do you think we’re ‘Islamophobes’ and ‘racists’ because we spend so much of our time trying to save and protect the victims? … Those are Muslim women, those are Muslim girls.”

Why erstwhile enemies are joining forces in the Middle East.

Originally published by the Jerusalem Post.

Hamas’s war with Israel is not a stand-alone event. It is happening in the context of the vast changes that are casting asunder old patterns of behavior and strategic understandings as actors in the region begin to reassess the threats they face.

Hamas was once funded by Saudi Arabia and enabled by Egypt. Now the regimes of these countries view it as part of a larger axis of Sunni jihad that threatens not only Israel, but them.

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and its state sponsors Qatar and Turkey, are the key members of this alliance structure. Without their support Hamas would have gone down with the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt last summer. As it stands, all view Hamas’s war with Israel as a means of reinstating the Brotherhood to power in that country.

To achieve a Hamas victory, Turkey, Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood are using Western support for Hamas against Israel. If the US and the EU are able to coerce Egypt and Israel to open their borders with Gaza, then the Western powers will hand the jihadist axis a strategic victory.

The implications of such a victory would be dire.

Hamas is ideologically indistinguishable from Islamic State. Like Islamic State, Hamas has developed mass slaughter and psychological terrorization as the primary tools in its military doctrine. If the US and the EU force Israel and Egypt to open Gaza’s borders, they will enable Hamas to achieve strategic and political stability in Gaza. As a consequence, a post-war Gaza will quickly become a local version of Islamic State-controlled Mosul.

In the first instance, such a development will render life in southern Israel too imperiled to sustain. The Western Negev, and perhaps Beersheba, Ashkelon and Ashdod, will become uninhabitable.

Then there is Judea and Samaria. If, as the US demands, Israel allows Gaza to reconnect with Judea and Samaria, in short order Hamas will dominate the areas. Militarily, the transfer of even a few of the thousands of rocket-propelled grenades Hamas has in Gaza will imperil military forces and civilians alike.

IDF armored vehicles and armored civilian buses will be blown to smithereens.

Whereas operating from Gaza, Hamas needed the assistance of the Obama administration and the Federal Aviation Administration to shut down Ben-Gurion Airport, from Judea and Samaria, all Hamas would require are a couple of hand-held mortars.

Jordan will also be directly threatened.

From Egypt’s perspective, a Hamas victory in the war with Israel that connects Gaza to Sinai will strengthen the Muslim Brotherhood and its Islamic State and other allies. Such a development represents a critical threat to the regime.

And this brings us to Islamic State itself. It couldn’t have grown to its current monstrous proportions without the support of Qatar and Turkey.

Islamic State is obviously interested in expanding its conquests. Since it views itself as a state, its next move must be one that enables it to take over a national economy. The raid on Mosul’s central bank will not suffice to finance its operations for very long.

At this point, Islamic State wishes to avoid an all-out confrontation with Iran, so moving into southern Iraq is probably not in the cards. US forces in Kuwait, and the strength and unity of purpose of the Jordanian military, probably take both kingdoms off Islamic State’s chopping block for now.

This leaves Saudi Arabia, or parts of it, as a likely next target for Islamic State expansion.

Islamic State’s current operations in Lebanon, which threaten the Saudi-supported regime there, indicate that Lebanon, at a minimum, is also at grave risk.

Then there is Iran. Iran is not a member of the Sunni jihadist axis. But when it comes to Israel and the non-jihadist regimes, it has cooperated with it.

Iran has funded, trained and armed Hamas for the past decade. It views Hamas’s war with Israel in the same light as it viewed its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah’s war with Israel eight years ago.

Both in Iraq and Syria, Iran and Islamic State have shown little interest in making one another their primary target. Turkey and Qatar have often served as Iran’s supporters in the Sunni world.

This is the context in which Israel is fighting its war with Hamas. And due to this context, two interrelated strategically significant events have occurred since the war began.

The first relates to the US.

The Obama administration’s decision to side with the members of the jihadist axis against Israel by adopting their demand to open Gaza’s borders with Israel and Egypt has served as the final nail in the coffin of America’s strategic credibility among its traditional regional allies.

As the US has stood with Hamas, it has also maintained its pursuit of a nuclear deal with Iran. The US’s position in these talks is to enable the mullocracy to follow North Korea’s path to a nuclear arsenal. The non-jihadist Sunni states share Israel’s conviction that they cannot survive a nuclear armed Iran.

Finally, President Barack Obama’s refusal to date to take offensive action to destroy Islamic State in Iraq and Syria demonstrates to Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states that under Obama, the US would rather allow Islamic State to expand into their territory and destroy them than return US military forces to Iraq.

In other words, Obama’s pro-Hamas-, pro-Iran- and pro-Muslim Brotherhood-axis policies, along with his refusal to date to take effective action in Iraq and Syria to obliterate Islamic State, have convinced the US’s traditional allies that for the next two-and-a-half years, not only can they not rely on the US, they cannot discount the possibility of the US taking actions that harm them.

It is in the face of the US’s shift of allegiances under Obama that the non-jihadist Sunni regimes have begun to reevaluate their ties to Israel. Until the Obama presidency, the Saudis and Egyptians felt secure in their alliance with the US. Consequently, they never felt it necessary or even desirable to consider Israel as a strategic partner.

Under the US’s strategic protection, the traditional Sunni regimes had the luxury of maintaining their support for Palestinian terrorists and rejecting the notion of strategic cooperation with Israel, whether against Iran, al-Qaida or any other common foe.

So sequestered by the US, Israel became convinced that the only way it could enjoy any benefit from its shared strategic interests with its neighbors was by first bowing to the US’s long-held obsession with strengthening the PLO. This has involved surrendering land, political legitimacy and money to the terror group still committed to Israel’s destruction.

The war with Hamas has changed all of this.

The partnership that has emerged in this war between Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia is a direct consequence of Obama’s abandonment of the US’s traditional allies. Recognizing the threat that Hamas, as a component part of the Sunni jihadist alliance, constitutes for their own regimes, and in the absence of American support for Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have worked with Israel to defeat Hamas and keep Gaza’s borders sealed.

Most Israelis have yet to grasp the strategic significance of this emerging alliance. This owes in large part to the Left’s domination of the public discourse.

The Israeli Left sees this new partnership. But it fails to understand its basis or significance. For the Left, all developments lead to the same conclusion: Whatever happens, Israel must strengthen the PLO by strengthening Palestinian Authority Chairman and PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas.

Failing to recognize the basis for Israel’s emerging strategic partnership, led by Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, the Left is advocating using our new ties with Saudi Arabia and Egypt as a means of strengthening Abbas by organizing a regional peace conference.

What they fail to understand is that such a move would destroy the partnership.

Israel’s strategic cooperation with Egypt and Saudi Arabia owes to their shared interests. It cannot extend beyond them. And they have no shared interests in regard to the PLO.

Threatened by the axis of jihad, no Muslim government can be seen publicly with Israelis. Asking Egyptian and Saudi leaders to have their pictures taken with Israelis is like asking them to sign their own death warrants.

Moreover, Israel’s required end-state in negotiations with the PLO – defensible borders and recognition of its sovereign rights to Jerusalem – is something that no Muslim regime can publicly accept – especially now.

So far from building on our new cooperative relationship, if the government heeds the Left’s advice and uses our incipient ties with the Saudis and Egyptians to strengthen the PLO, it will highlight and exacerbate conflicting interests and so destroy the partnership.

Moreover, the fact is that the PLO can play no constructive role for any of the sides in weakening our common foes. As he has for the past decade, during the current war Abbas has demonstrated that he is utterly worthless in the fight against the forces of jihad – both of the Sunni and Shi’ite variety.

At least for the duration of Obama’s presidency the interests that Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel share in preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and defeating the Muslim Brotherhood/Islamic State as military and political threats can only be advanced through joint action.

The Obama administration would have forced Israel to bow to Hamas’s demands weeks ago if the Egyptians and Saudis hadn’t opposed a Hamas victory.

Without Israeli military action, Iran will become a nuclear power. In light of the US’s backing of Iran’s nuclear program, such an Israeli operation is effectively impossible without regional support.

As to Islamic State, right now the US is interested in cooperating with Iran in fighting the barbaric force.

In exchange for Iranian cooperation, the US is liable to cede Basra and the Shatt al-Arab to Iran.

Effective cooperation between Israel, the Kurds and the Sunnis could contain, and perhaps defeat, Islamic State while reducing Iran’s chances of securing the strategically vital waterway.

Since the emerging partnership between Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia is a direct result of the Obama administration’s destruction of US strategic credibility, it is fairly clear that if properly managed, it can last until January 2017. Until then, in all likelihood, the US will be unwilling and unable to rebuild its reputation.

And until then, the parties are unlikely to find alternative means of securing their interests that are more effective than joint action.

Given the stakes, and the complementary capabilities of the various parties, Israel’s primary task today must be to work quietly and diligently with the Saudis and Egyptians to expand on their joint achievements in Gaza.

The Israeli-Egyptian-Saudi alliance can ensure that all members survive the Obama era. And if lasts into the next administration, it will place all of its members on more secure footing with the US, whether or not a new administration decides to rebuild the US alliance structure in the Middle East.

Dr. Geifman returned on the show this week (see Part I here) to continue her analysis of Hamas and Terrorists’ Child Sacrifice, explaining why Islamic terrorists — and totalitarians in general — target children. She also expanded on her Aliyah back to Israel, what terrorists do when they capture power, the similarities between Islamic Jihad and Bolshevik terror, and much, much more:

Originally published by the Jerusalem Post.

When US President Barack Obama phoned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday night, in the middle of a security cabinet meeting, he ended any remaining doubt regarding his policy toward Israel and Hamas.

Obama called Netanyahu while the premier was conferring with his senior ministers about how to proceed in Gaza. Some ministers counseled that Israel should continue to limit our forces to specific pinpoint operations aimed at destroying the tunnels of death that Hamas has dug throughout Gaza and into Israeli territory.

Others argued that the only way to truly destroy the tunnels, and keep them destroyed, is for Israel to retake control over the Gaza Strip.

No ministers were recommending that Israel end its operations in Gaza completely. The longer our soldiers fight, the more we learn about the vast dimensions of the Hamas’s terror arsenal, and about the Muslim Brotherhood group’s plans and strategy for using it to destabilize, demoralize and ultimately destroy Israeli society.

The IDF’s discovery of Hamas’s Rosh Hashana plot was the last straw for any Israeli leftists still harboring fantasies about picking up our marbles and going home. Hamas’s plan to use its tunnels to send hundreds of terrorists into multiple Israeli border communities simultaneously and carry out a massacre of unprecedented scope, replete with the abduction of hostages to Gaza, was the rude awakening the Left had avoided since it pushed for Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from Gaza.

In other words, in their discussion Sunday night, Netanyahu and his ministers were without illusions about the gravity of the situation and the imperative of winning – however defined.

But then the telephone rang. And Obama told Netanyahu that Israel must lose. He wants an unconditional “humanitarian” cease-fire that will lead to a permanent one.

And he wants it now.

And by the way, the eventual terms of that cease-fire must include opening Hamas-controlled Gaza’s borders with Egypt and Israel and ending Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gaza coast. That is, the cease-fire must allow Hamas to rebuild its arsenal of death and destruction quickly, with US political and financial support.

Until Obama made the call, there was lingering doubt among some Israelis regarding his intentions. Some thought that US Secretary of State John Kerry might have been acting of his own accord last Friday night when he tried to force Israel to accept Hamas’s cease-fire terms.

But then Obama made his phone call. And all doubts were dispelled.

Kerry is just a loyal steward of Obama’s foreign policy.

Obama is siding with Hamas, and its Muslim Brotherhood patrons in Qatar and Turkey, against Israel, and its Sunni Arab supporters – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

It is Obama who demands that Hamas have open borders so it can resupply, and receive billions of dollars – starting with an immediate cash injection of $47 million from US taxpayers – so it can pay North Korea for more missiles and import building materials to reconstruct its tunnels.

The fact that the US’s current preference for genocidal, Jew-hating jihadists over the only liberal, pro-American, stable US ally in the Middle East is a White House position, rather than that of a rogue Secretary of State was actually exposed even before Obama’s phone call.

Sunday CNN’s Candy Crowley interviewed Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes. She asked him what the administration thinks Israel can do to prevent civilians from being killed in Gaza beyond what it is already doing. Rhodes replied, “I think you can always do more.”

In other words, Rhodes said that no matter what precautions Israel takes to try to minimize Palestinian civilian deaths in Gaza, the administration will never be satisfied. The White House will never acknowledge that Israel is in the right, or that it is fighting a moral war against a barbaric foe. And since the administration will never be satisfied, Israel can expect to be condemned by various UN bodies, including the Security Council, because no matter what it does to try to earn the support of the administration, it will never receive such support.

The discovery that the Obama administration is entirely in Hamas’s corner hit all of Israel hard. But it hit the Left the hardest. Few on the Right, which recognized Obama’s hostility from the outset of his presidency, were surprised.

As for political leaders, the government cannot risk giving the administration justification for its anti-Israel policies, so senior ministers have all said nothing.

Consequently, the harshest criticisms of the administration’s pro-Hamas position were heard from quarters where rarely a peep of criticism for Obama has been heard.

The Israeli Left went ballistic.

Haaretz, the far-left broadsheet that has seldom taken issue with even the harshest rejections of Israel’s rights, went bananas after its reporter Barak Ravid received the details of Kerry’s cease-fire agreement. As Ravid put it, Kerry’s document, “might as well have been penned by Khaled Mashaal. It was everything Hamas could have hoped for.”

Ravid continued, “What Kerry’s draft spells for the internal Palestinian political arena is even direr: It crowns Hamas and issues Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas with a death warrant.”

And that is really the crux of the issue. The crowd at Haaretz is far more wedded to the PLO and Mahmoud Abbas than it is to the government of Israel. And the administration’s support for Hamas exposed the PLO as an irrelevance.

As the paper’s Amos Harel wrote the next day, Kerry’s pro-Hamas behavior convinced the Egyptians and other actors that the administration is “continuing its secret love affairs with the Muslim Brotherhood in the region.”

The Left understands that the administration’s behavior has destroyed it.

Leftists can no longer say that Israeli territorial withdrawals will win it international support.

They can no longer say that Israel will receive US support if it places the security of Palestinian civilians above the security of its own civilians and military forces.

They can no longer say that the PLO is the answer.

The Israeli Left has been Obama’s ace in the hole since he first ran for office, fresh from the pews in Jeremiah Wright’s anti-Semitic church. They were the grease in the wheels that legitimized the administration’s anti-Israel pressure group J Street. They were the ones who could be counted on to tell the US media and the American Jews that Netanyahu is to blame for Obama’s hostility.

Yet, rather than backtrack, and try to save the Israeli Left, the administration doubled down on Monday, releasing a series of statements condemning the Israeli media’s condemnations of Kerry’s pro-Hamas position.

By Monday afternoon, the administration went so far as to say that by criticizing Kerry, Israel’s media were endangering their country’s alliance with the US.

In other words, through his actions, Obama demonstrated that his “love affairs with the Muslim Brotherhood in the region,” are so central to his foreign policy calculations that he is willing to destroy the Israeli Left in order to strengthen the Brotherhood.

And this leads us to the larger point about Obama’s foreign policy, which his Sunday night telephone call to Netanyahu revealed. As rattled as Israelis are over Obama’s decision to support Hamas against Israel, Netanyahu made clear in his remarks Monday night that Israel has no choice but to keep fighting until we defeat this barbaric enemy.

Netanyahu didn’t mention Obama, but it was obvious that he was respectfully refusing to hand Israel’s head on a platter to Hamas’s friend in the White House.

And while it is hard for Israel to ignore Obama, it is impossible for Americans to ignore him. He runs their foreign policy.

Americans are the ones who need to be most alarmed by what Obama’s actions on behalf of Hamas reveal about the general direction of American Middle East policy under his leadership.

For the past five years, Americans from all quarters have concluded that the manifold failures of Obama’s Middle East policies – from Iraq to Iran, Libya, Afghanistan, Egypt, Syria, Israel, the Palestinian Authority and beyond – owe to a combination of Obama’s personal disinterest in foreign affairs and his presumed preference for withdrawal and isolationism over engagement.

Obama himself has often encouraged this perception with his endless golf games and his talk about fighting “the war at home.”

Obama’s open, public engagement in Hamas’s war against Israel shows that the popular assessment is wrong.

Obama is as involved in the Middle East as all of his immediate predecessors were. He is personally leading US policy on every front. Kerry is not an independent actor.

The problem is that in every war, in every conflict and in every contest of wills that has occurred in the Middle East since Obama took office, he has sided with Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood, against America’s allies.

Under Obama, America has switched sides.

Reps. Bachmann and Gohmert dare to call a terrorist group by its proper name.

“We are faced with an enemy whose goal is to conquer the world by subversion and infiltration or, if necessary, by open war.”

The speaker was Senator John F. Kennedy and he was discussing the Communist Control Act that he had co-sponsored. The Act did what had been previously thought impossible; it outlawed the Communist Party.

The latest bill to fight an enemy whose goal is also to conquer the world by subversion, infiltration and open war doesn’t have a Kennedy co-sponsor. Instead it has the two members of Congress who have fought the hardest to expose the Muslim Brotherhood; Michele Bachmann and Louie Gohmert.

The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act goes to the heart of the beast by designating the entity a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Plenty of Muslim Brotherhood affiliates and splinter groups, from Hamas to Al Qaeda, have already ended up on the FTO list.

But the Brotherhood has been able to keep spewing out new front groups that enjoy immunity.

The Act lists some of the Brotherhood groups and Brotherhood leaders already on the FTO list. These include the Kuwaiti Muslim Brotherhood and the head of the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood’s political party who served as the coordinator for the bombing of the USS Cole. The Act documents, briefly, the Brotherhood’s history and some of its more recent involvements in worldwide terrorism.

From the original World Trade Center attacks to the recent Brotherhood attacks on Coptic Christians, the Act comprehensively makes the case that the Muslim Brotherhood is a violent terrorist group.

There really is no doubt whatsoever that the Muslim Brotherhood meets the FTO criteria. But so did Boko Haram and the State Department fought tooth and nail to keep an Al Qaeda-linked organization responsible for the murder of thousands off the list.

The Muslim Brotherhood is even more vital to their agenda than Boko Haram.

However the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act, if it passes, will force John Kerry to issue a report explaining why the Muslim Brotherhood should not be treated as a terrorist group.

The contents of that report could be guessed at ahead of time.

When challenged over the provision of F-16 fighter jets to Muslim Brotherhood thug Mohammed Morsi, Kerry had claimed that the US couldn’t just walk away from him.

A Kerry aide stated back in June that “We do not share the view of the Egyptian government about links between the Muslim Brothers and terrorist groups like ISIS” and argued that the Brotherhood was a political challenge, rather than a security challenge.

Nevertheless it’s important to have this discussion out in the open.

Americans who warned about the dangers of Communism were marginalized, but by the fifties a unanimous Senate vote had outlawed the Communist Party. JFK did not co-sponsor the Communist Control Act because he was a courageous leader, but because by then it was the safe thing to do.

The pace of world events had taken what had been seen as the obsession of a few cranks and turned it into a compelling national security issue that could no longer be ignored.

As the Middle East churns in the murderous grip of its Jihads, Americans are beginning to see a region under Islamic movements that resembles Eastern Europe under the Communist boot. As they look at the shifting populations in Europe, at the rise of honor killings and FGM, at mobs screaming hate at the Jews in Paris and at burning churches in Egypt, they ask themselves whether they want to live this way.

If Americans wake up to the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood, the way that they had once woken up to the threat of Communism, it will be because a handful of members of Congress, prominent among them, Michele Bachmann and Louie Gohmert, kept up the good fight.

Bachmann and Gohmert warned about the Muslim Brotherhood despite the lack of interest in the topic by much of the public, the media and even by their own party.

With them stand a handful of co-sponsors; Trent Franks, who has also stood up against the Muslim Brotherhood, and others like Peter Roskam, who took a stand against Hamas, Cynthia Lummis, who asked during the Benghazi hearings about the Brotherhood’s involvement, Kevin Brady, who tried to cut funding to the UN, Steve Southerland, who spoke at Florida State University in defiance of Muslim protests, and Doug LaMalfa, who condemned Obama for funding Hamas.

The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act would make it possible to go after anyone providing material support to the entity. It would make it possible to keep Muslim Brotherhood agents from entering the United States and to deport Muslim Brotherhood members already in the United States.

The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act may not pass and even if it does, it’s wildly unlikely that Obama, who won’t even stop funding Hamas which is already on the FTO list, would enforce it. But shifts are incremental. They come from the persistent commitment to advancing an issue.

Within a decade, Communism went from kindly Uncle Joe to a nightmarish monster. In 1937, 47% of Americans knew nothing of Fascism or Communism. By 1939, half the country was willing to choose either Communism or Fascism. In 1940, only 37% supported jailing or deporting Communists. By 1945, 48% of Americans saw improving relations ahead for the US and the USSR.

Less than a decade later, outlawing the Communist Party had become the default bipartisan position.

While the propaganda of the left is a powerful thing, it crumbles in the face of world events. The political battlefield is a shadow of the real world. When the world changes, it abruptly transforms everything.

In these moments of transformation, the patriots who have been fighting for the truth have the opportunity to step forward and take advantage of the shift. And those who blindly denounced them will join them, because when the consensus crumbles, they seek sensible point of security to cling to.

It is toward that day that the patriots do their work, placing brick on brick, laboring to build a pedestal on which the truth will be revealed.

There may come a time when the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act is remembered as one of the vital building blocks in the American awakening to the threat of Islamization.
