A dark past revived under America's Radical-in-Chief.

In 2007, then-Senator Barack Obama signified that he represented a sea-change in the nature of American politics. Obama proclaimed that as a member of the younger generation — born in 1961, at the tail end of the baby boom — he no longer wanted to participate in the stale and tired politics of the 1960s. Instead, he wanted to thrust America forward into a “different kind of politics,” one beyond the “psychodrama of the baby-boom generation — a tale rooted in old grudges and revenge plots hatched on a handful of college campuses long ago — played out on the national stage.”

Like most of what President Obama said, this turned out to be a lie. President Obama isn’t merely a reflection of 1960s politics. He represents a return to those ugly politics: the nastiness of anti-cop sentiment, the divisiveness of generalized anti-Western foreign policy, the idiocy of a war between the sexes and against the exclusivity of the traditional family structure. President Obama isn’t representative of a new breed. He is the child of the 1960s politics he once claimed to abhor.

Those politics, at least, had the excuse of an uglier America — one fresh with the wounds of Jim Crow, the sins of sexism, the controversy of Vietnam. Today’s 1960s reruns seem wildly out of context. But that’s the point: For the radicals of the 1960s, just as for the establishment Obamaites of today, context simply does not matter. When you are attempting to craft utopia, context is irrelevant — and human beings become either tools or obstacles toward the creation of that utopia. The vision never changes. Only the calendar does.

And so we’re watching racial tensions on a scale unseen since the 1970s play out across America — with the support of the political establishment. The images of police officers turning their backs on New York Mayor Bill De Blasio mirror the images of officers booing New York Mayor John Lindsay in 1972 at the funeral of Officer Rocco Laurie.

The images of rioters burning down Ferguson mirror the images of rioters burning down Detroit in 1967. Never mind that America of 2014 is not the America of 1967 or 1972 — if Obama and his allies have to recreate that chaotic era to forward their own political ends, they will.

We’re watching the foreign policy of the hard-left McGovernites re-establish itself, this time from the Oval Office. The images of Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., railing against the CIA on the floor of the Senate over the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques mirror the images of Senator Mark Hatfield, R-Ore., railing against the American military in the aftermath of the Winter Soldier hearings of 1971. The images of the Yazidis starving on mountaintops in Iraq mirror the images of Vietnamese rushing onto boats to escape the horrors of the communists in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.

We’re watching the divisive domestic politics of the social radicals reassert themselves. The images of failed Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis standing in pink sneakers to list the glories of late-term abortion mirror the images of Gloria Steinem blathering about “reproductive freedom” in 1971. The images of Nancy Pelosi touting freedom from “job lock” thanks to Obamacare mirror the images of President Johnson effectively doing the same thanks to the war on poverty.

President Obama and his ilk quest for a return to hopier, changier times — times like the 1960s. And so they will take us all back to the future. Sadly, our future will then be no more than a reversion to insanity of our past.

Cop-bashing New York mayor Bill de Blasio seems genuinely surprised at the ferocious backlash against him in light of the execution-style weekend killing of two local cops.

After spending the past year in office attacking police, the mayor is now scrambling to put the pin back into the grenade he threw into the local body politic. His crusade against the police goes back at least to his election campaign last year when he caustically criticized then-mayor Michael Bloomberg’s stop-and-frisk policy.

De Blasio is appealing for calm and for a temporary suspension of the ugly anti-police protests his incendiary rhetoric has spawned.

Strangely, this far-left radical who, like his ally in the White House never puts politics aside for the benefit of the community, is now asking New Yorkers to do precisely that.

So far the New York Police Department isn’t in a mood to forgive de Blasio who has teamed up with racial arsonist Al Sharpton to lay waste to what’s left of civil society in the Big Apple. Before the two murders Sharpton had been leading marches where the demonstrators chanted, “What do we want? Dead cops.” Taking cues from the Westboro Baptist Church, Sharpton followers showed up at one cop memorial service chanting and heckling the mourners.

NYPD union leaders have asked de Blasio to skip police funerals and a large gathering of cops turned their backs on the mayor as he showed up Saturday at the Brooklyn hospital where the lifeless bodies of officers Rafael Ramos, 40, and Wenjian Liu, 32, had been taken after they were shot dead by an adherent of the Religion of Peace.

The shooter, Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, was a Muslim apparently upset at what he believed were the racist killings of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. and Eric Garner in Staten Island. He indicated he was planning to kill “pigs,” and as Robert Spencer notes, “Brinsley’s Facebook page featured a photo of the Qur’an open to the eighth chapter, where Allah exhorts the believers to ‘strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah‘ (8:60).“

Since de Blasio was sworn in last New Year’s Day, New Yorkers have, in fits and starts, begun to realize that they elected a dangerously erratic Sandinista-loving radical as mayor. Although de Blasio’s reaction to the cop murders strikes many in the punditry as incompetent, they are being charitable. De Blasio’s behavior reflects his pathological, hateful, profoundly anti-American ideology. He can’t conceal his contempt for those whose job it is to promote law and order.

This is what happens when a small-c communist becomes mayor of the nation’s greatest metropolis.

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who helped turn New York from a crime-infested urban jungle into the relatively crime-free city his successors inherited, said it was “shameful” for politicians to drive a wedge between police and the communities they serve.

“Police misconduct is a minor part of the problem. Community, serious violent crime is a much bigger part of the problem,” Giuliani said.

“The people who are saving black lives in the city are [you] the New York City Police Department. I’m not doing it. President Obama’s not doing it. Mayor De Blasio’s not doing it. He’s not out at night walking down housing developments and trying to save children from being killed. Police officers are doing the most, right now, in these very very poor communities and sometimes they’re white communities, but where there are black communities and police officers are doing the most to save the children that are at greatest risk. The politicians with this propaganda separating the community from the police, are doing something that’s shameful and they have to stop doing that. The vast majority of police want to help and the politicians’ rhetoric should reflect the truth, not propaganda.”

But de Blasio isn’t anything like Giuliani or even like Bloomberg, his immediate predecessor, a micromanaging Big Gulp-grabber who now seems like an exemplar of common sense compared to the current mayor.

De Blasio is in many ways President Obama’s “mini me,” except unlike Obama, he has loud critics in the media who for the most part has not been giving him a free ride.

But de Blasio hasn’t generated all of this racial hostility and antipathy toward cops on his own. He’s had a lot of help from President Obama who has been trying to kickstart a wave of civil unrest since even before he took office. The president’s policy of trying to foment violent civil unrest is finally paying dividends.

Attacking the police, as Obama has been doing for years, isn’t exactly a courageous act. The police are easy targets for leftist agitators. Riling up minorities over real and imagined abuses is child’s play. Even Al Sharpton can do it.

On the 2008 campaign trail, the president belittled small town Americans, implying they were racist, a time-honored leftist smear of conservatives. “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.“

Not too long after his inauguration in 2009 the new president mocked Cambridge, Mass. police by saying they “acted stupidly” by arresting Obama’s close personal friend, black liberal academic Henry Louis Gates Jr. This led to the seemingly pointless public relations event known as the so-called beer summit between James Crowley (the arresting officer), Gates, and Obama. There was never any evidence that Gates’s arrest had anything to do with his skin color. Arrester and arrestee agreed to disagree yet Obama succeeded in scoring points with his radical base.

Campaigning in 2010, Obama demonized non-Latinos.

“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies, and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us’ — if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election — then I think it’s going to be harder. And that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2nd.”

The same year he invoked Rosa Parks and segregation in order to ridicule Republicans. “We don’t mind the Republicans joining us,” Obama told the faithful. “They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

In 2012 Obama suggested if he failed to win reelection minorities would suffer.

“The notion that we’re all in this together, that we look out for one another–that’s at stake in this election,” he said. “Don’t take my word for it. Watch some of these [Republican] debates that have been going on up in New Hampshire.” Later that year he added Republicans “want to take us back to the policies more suited to the 1950s than the 21st century.”

In 2012 he needlessly inserted race into the Trayvon Martin saga by saying, “if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.“ Although the shooter who was eventually acquitted, so-called white Hispanic George Zimmerman, wasn’t a police officer, he was an authority figure of sorts as a neighborhood watch volunteer.

Working with Sharpton, the Obama administration sicced the left-wing community organizers of the Justice Department’s Community Relations Service (CRS) on the unsuspecting people of Sanford, Fla. after the death of Martin. Evidence established that Martin attacked Zimmerman, who avoided legal liability because he acted in self-defense.

Even after the acquittal Obama insisted on meddling. He said that “Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago,” and gave yet another lecture on race.

Obama vigorously milked the August death of Michael Brown at the hands of white Ferguson, Mo. police officer Darren Wilson.

Brown, an 18-year-old black male, was killed after he beat Wilson and tried to grab his handgun. Brown’s defenders characterize him as a gentle giant even though a few minutes earlier he was captured on video committing a strong-arm robbery at a convenience store, roughing up a much smaller clerk in the process. At autopsy Brown’s height was 6′ 5″ and his weight was 289 lbs. The autopsy results were consistent with witness accounts that Brown reached for Wilson’s gun during their fateful altercation.

Obama dishonored his country by giving a speech at the United Nations citing Brown’s killing as something Americans should be ashamed of. After the grand jury refused to indict Wilson, Obama ramped up his rhetoric, claiming that racism is deeply rooted in American society.

A major difference between de Blasio and Obama is that the mayor doesn’t have the president’s silver tongue. Serious calls for de Blasio’s ouster are now coming from civic leaders throughout New York.

But don’t hold your breath waiting for de Blasio to resign. Radical leftists rarely give up power without a fight.

TRANSCRIPT:

I’m Andrew Klavan and this is the Revolting Truth.

Everywhere you look these days, there’s Al Sharpton… it’s strange, even after you wake up screaming, he’s still there. It’s like one of those Blumhouse movies. If he’s not in some city calling for protests because a cop killed a thug who was resisting arrest, he’s in some other city calling for protests because another cop killed another thug who was also resisting arrest. He’s even been meeting with Barack Obama as if the president of the United States were just some hapless loser who can’t find anyone else to talk to. So it’s about time we asked ourselves: who is Al Sharpton… and why?

Al Sharpton has dedicated his life to the improvement of the black man Al Sharpton.

He first flushed himself to fame in 1987, when a 15-year-old black girl named Tawana Brawley concocted a lie about being raped by a group of white men. Reverend Al Sharpton — called Reverend Al Sharpton because he’s revered by Al Sharpton — became one of Tawana’s so-called advisors. He falsely accused a young police officer of participating in the alleged rape, and after the already troubled officer committed suicide, Sharpton accused another man of murdering him to cover up the crime. Sharpton and his cronies organized daily protests using viciously inflammatory language – even though one of Sharpton’s top aides says Sharpton suspected all along Tawana’s story was false. Finally a Grand Jury investigation exposed the girl’s hoax, leaving Sharpton looking almost exactly like a race baiting charlatan.

Unless you happened to be a leftist or a journalist or some other sort of gullible buffoon. In that case, Al Sharpton was now a “black leader.” And sure enough, wherever a tragedy could be misconstrued as a case of racism, black leader Al was there leading blacks to false conclusions and violence.

There was Crown Heights Brooklyn for instance. When a black child was accidentally killed by a car driven by a Hassidic Jew there in 1991, a small gang of local blacks responded by murdering an innocent Jewish man. But that wasn’t good enough for Al. His furious rhetoric helped stir days of anti-Jewish riots in what’s been called one of the worst anti-semitic incidents in American history.

And Al wasn’t done. In 1995, he helped incite a vicious name-calling boycott of a Jewish storeowner in Harlem — and inspire protests that only ended when one of the protestors shot four whites in the man’s store and set the place on fire, killing seven workers, most of them Hispanic.

More recently, Sharpton has accused three white LaCrosse players from Duke University of raping a black girl, which they didn’t; made out that Trayvon Martin was the victim of a racist murder, which he wasn’t; and suggested Michael Brown was a gentle innocent shot dead by an evil cop — wrong again — and he managed to do it all while owing the government 4.5 million dollars in taxes.

Which brings us back to our original question: Why do corrupt, opportunistic knuckleheads get elevated to black leadership? Maybe that wasn’t our original question. I can’t remember. But I mean, you don’t see white people accepting leaders like this. If someone like Hillary Clinton had been shown to lie outright again and again about everything from her husband’s infidelities to being shot at in a war zone to the reasons behind the terrorist attack in Benghazi, would white people accept her as a leader? Okay, maybe that’s not a good example. Well, then, if Teddy Kennedy left his mistress to drown so he could fashion an alibi… Okay, wait. If fools like Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi…

Okay. Look, black people, the point is: don’t elevate demagogic flim-flammers to leadership in your community. Don’t be like white people. You’re better than that.

I’m Andrew Klavan with the Revolting Truth.

How Obama has implemented Alinsky's tactics of social revolution to tear a city – and a nation – apart.

If the late Saul Alinsky—the America-hating godfather of community organizing—had fathered a black son, he’d look like Barack Obama.[1] Obama has embraced, revered, and employed Alinsky’s philosophy and tactics of social revolution for decades. Indeed, he even taught Alinsky’s methods in community-organizing workshops and seminars in Chicago, when he was a much younger Marxist. As we witness the continuing racial unrest sparked by the shooting of Michael Brown and the Ferguson grand jury’s subsequent decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson, it is vital to understand that everything the protesters/rioters are doing—in Ferguson and elsewhere—is straight out of Alinsky’s most famous publications, Rules For Radicals and Reveille For Radicals. And Obama has encouraged them, every step of the way.

Obama and Alinsky never actually met in person, as Alinsky died when Obama was just 11 years old. Happily for the future president, by that time he had already been introduced to the man who would mentor him throughout his adolescent years—the America-hating, pro-Soviet, pro-Stalin, Communist writer Frank Marshall Davis. Thus, when Obama eventually encountered Alinsky through the latter’s writings, the young community organizer was well prepared ideologically to soak up Alinsky’s message.

In his quest to cultivate the type of chaos that would spark social revolution against America’s capitalist system, Alinsky exhorted activists to constantly “rub raw the resentments of the people” and “fan the latent hostilities to the point of overt expression”—but to do this in measured tones, so as not to “scare off” middle-class Americans.

Thus did Obama dutifully and blandly call for “unity” and calm in the immediate aftermath of Michael Brown’s “heartbreaking and tragic” death, even as he repeatedly reminded us that: “police should not be bullying or arresting” anyone without cause; “in too many communities, too many young men of color are left behind and left as objects to fear”; “there is no excuse for excessive force by police”; “the justice gap” between whites and nonwhites is unacceptable; “the criminal-justice system doesn’t treat people of all races equally”; and “too many young men of color feel targeted by law enforcement, guilty of walking while black, or driving while black, judged by stereotypes that fuel fear and resentment and hopelessness.” And when the grand jury in Ferguson subsequently chose not to indict Darren Wilson because the officer obviously had shot Michael Brown in self-defense, Obama pronounced the black community’s indignation to be “an understandable reaction.”

Obama’s carefully chosen words—all delivered in the type of nonthreatening tenor advocated by Saul Alinsky—clearly communicated a single, foundational theme to African Americans: In the racist cesspool known as the United States, black people are routinely treated like second-class citizens, if not subhumans. Oh, and by the way, please remain calm. Wink, wink.

Alinsky also taught that in some cases activists must be completely willing—for the sake of the moral principles in whose name they profess to act—to turn up the proverbial heat and watch society descend into chaos and anarchy; to “go into a state of complete confusion and draw [their] opponent into the vortex of the same confusion.” “Wherever possible,” Alinsky counseled, “go outside the experience of the enemy. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.”

Mobs of shouting protesters can accomplish that objective quite effectively—even if, as in the present case, they are oblivious to the irony that the poster-child of their crusade is a multiple felon who tried unsuccessfully to murder a police officer. Such demonstrations tend to give onlookers the impression that a mass movement is not only well underway, but may actually be preparing to shift into an even higher gear at any moment. A “mass impression,” said Alinsky, can be lasting and intimidating. Thus did President Obama recently meet at the White House with Al Sharpton, his leading advisor on race-related matters, and other protest leaders from Ferguson, urging them to “stay on course” with their activism.

Yet another highly noteworthy observation by Alinsky was this: “Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.” “The threat,” he explained, “is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Thus, “if your organization is small in numbers,… raise a din and clamor that will make the listener believe that your organization numbers many more than it does.”

This can be well achieved by orchestrating a host of simultaneous demonstrations in multiple cities or venues, exactly as the highly organized Gentle Giant crusade has been doing. The stature of these rallies is magnified by the fact that they receive lots of media attention, while scores of millions of ordinary Americans who view them with contempt and dread are busy quietly going about their lives, caring for their families, working at their jobs, and pursuing their personal aspirations as they see fit. Such people are many thousands of times more numerous than the perpetually aggrieved rabble-rousers of the Left, but Alinsky understood—as Obama understands today—that a spraying skunk inevitably gets all the attention when it intrudes unexpectedly upon a picnic.

The America-hating Alinsky also taught that activists, in order to cast themselves as defenders of high-minded principles, must theatrically convey “shock, horror, and moral outrage” whenever any of their demands—however inconsequential—are not met. And no one conveys such emotions more convincingly than Obama’s aforementioned racial “advisor,” Al Sharpton, who vows to continue the Michael Brown/anti-police brutality crusade until the end of time if necessary. Alinsky understood quite well that even a pathetic moral degenerate like Sharpton can be an effective revolutionary if he is skilled in the otherwise worthless arts of bluster and righteous indignation.

Lest anyone think there might be a way to bridge the gap between civil society and the revolutionaries in the vanguard of the current Gentle Giant Brigades, a dose of reality is in order: Alinsky emphasized that the overarching objective of any crusade is never to promote peace or reconciliation, but rather to be unwaveringly “dedicated to an eternal war” in which “there are no rules of fair play” and “no compromise” whatsoever; to mercilessly “pulverize” people with “fear”; and ultimately to “force their capitulation.”

We got a glimpse of this mindset recently when we learned that two New Black Panther Party members were plotting not only to blow up St. Louis’s famed Gateway Arch, but also to assassinate Ferguson police chief Tom Jackson and the city’s prosecuting attorney Bob McCulloch. And a shrieking Louis Farrakhan, for his part, has been busy urging black Americans to throw Molotov cocktails at white people in order to fulfill a scriptural “law of retaliation”; condemning whites for allegedly “killing us” in large numbers; and warning that “we’ll tear this goddamn country up!”

Like all Marxists, Obama, Sharpton, Farrakhan, and the rest of their fellow revolutionaries seek to tear society apart by pitting the “races,” the “classes,” and the “genders” against one another—“rubbing raw” their respective “resentments” until hatred abounds in every person’s heart and mayhem fills the streets. Michael Brown’s corpse is merely a building block for these rabble rousers. They know that someday another African American will be killed by a white police officer and thus be anointed as their movement’s next martyred saint. Bit by bit, the inconvenient fact that Brown was a violent, abusive criminal whose death was brought about entirely by his own actions will be airbrushed out of public memory. And the grievance mongers of the “civil rights” movement will wistfully remember him as just another innocent black victim whose life was tragically cut short by white depravity.

Saul Alinsky would be proud.

NOTE:
[1] In March 2012, not long after the death of Trayvon Martin in Florida, President Obama famously said: “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

Stoking the race riot flames.

A week after grand jurors in Ferguson, Mo., did their civic duty and resisted pressure from President Obama on down to lynch an innocent police officer, Al Sharpton and Ferguson riot leaders gathered at the White House yesterday to make plans to further exacerbate the racial tensions they created in order to cripple the economy and attack civil society.

These domestic subversives refuse to accept the official finding Nov. 24 that no probable cause existed to charge police officer Darren Wilson, who is white, in the Aug. 9 death of Michael Brown, who was black.

The finding of “no true bill” contradicts the Left’s preferred narrative that racist white cops are gunning down innocent blacks with impunity. The failure to indict Wilson, who has since resigned from the Ferguson police department, has driven left-wingers and racial grievance mongers into an exquisite state of apoplexy. They refuse to accept that the evidence considered by the grand jury overwhelmingly, indisputably demonstrated that Brown tried to seize Wilson’s gun in an attempt to do the officer harm. To put it more bluntly, there is proof that in their fateful 90-second encounter Brown tried to kill Wilson, even though the media has consistently identified Wilson as the aggressor.

But facts are rarely obstacles when left-wingers set their minds on something.

At the initial White House meeting of the Michael Brown truther brigade, Obama proceeded from the demonstrably false assumption that a tragic injustice was done to the late teenaged thug. The president said:

As I said last week in the wake of the grand jury decision, I think Ferguson laid bare a problem that is not unique to St. Louis or that area, and is not unique to our time, and that is a simmering distrust that exists between too many police departments and too many communities of color. The sense that in a country where one of our basic principles, perhaps the most important principle, is equality under the law, that too many individuals, particularly young people of color, do not feel as if they are being treated fairly.

To remedy this problem that was far less of a problem before Obama was inaugurated, the president announced he was appointing two left-wing establishment puppets to head a useless task force

to reach out and listen to law enforcement, and community activists and other stakeholders, but is going to report to me specifically in 90 days with concrete recommendations, including best practices for communities where law enforcement and neighborhoods are working well together — how do they create accountability; how do they create transparency; how do they create trust; and how can we at the federal level work with state and local communities to make sure that some of those best practices get institutionalized.

Even though there is no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Darren Wilson, police officers are going to receive stricter scrutiny. Obama also proposed spending $263 million to put body cameras on cops.

Much of this soothing, focus group-tested Washington-speak sounds fairly innocuous until the guest list for the event is revealed. The same people who instigated the riots and looting in Ferguson were in attendance listening to the Community Organizer in Chief. Among the attendees were: Ashley Yates, Millennial Activists United; Rasheen Aldridge, Young Activists St. Louis; Brittany Packnett, St. Louis educator and activist; T-Dubb-O, St. Louis hip-hop artist; James Hayes, Ohio Students Association; Phillip Agnew, Dream Defenders; and Jose Lopez, Make the Road New York.

These people are the problem, not the solution. They had no business being at the table (but then again, neither does Obama).

Yates went so far as to go on record the month before the grand jury decision as saying violence would be a legitimate response to a non-indictment in the Darren Wilson case.

“If they can’t serve justice in this, the people have every right to go out and express their rage in a manner that is equal to what we have suffered,” Yates said at the time.

“We’re going to take our anger out on the people who have failed us, and if they are prepared to deal with that, then let them have at it,” he said.

New York’s radical mayor Bill de Blasio and Al Sharpton, whose racist, hate-filled rants have gotten Americans killed on more than one occasion, were also in attendance at the White House yesterday.

The day before, Sharpton was in Ferguson pledging more violent protests. “You won the first round, Mr. Prosecutor, but don’t take your gloves off,” Sharpton said. “Justice will come to Ferguson.”

“We’re not gonna stop marching and protesting until we do,” he said.

Sharpton isn’t even the most radical member of the leftist lynch mob screaming for Wilson’s blood.

The most explicit of the fire-breathing racist filth-purveyors in the Brown saga has to be professional white-hater and anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan. Before an audience at Baltimore’s Morgan State University he promised a violent uprising. If the demands of demonstrators who want Wilson dead are not met, “we’ll tear this goddamn country apart!”

Peaceful protests are only in the interest of “white folks,” said Farrakhan, who himself ought to be under constant FBI surveillance. “We going to die anyway,” he said. “Let’s die for something,” the Nation of Islam (NOI) head said to enthusiastic applause.

The parents of teenaged children need to show their kids how to lob Molotov cocktails, said Farrakhan, who is essentially the Islamic version of Obama’s longtime preacher Jeremiah Wright. “Teach your baby how to throw the bottle if they can. Fight,” he said, gesturing as if throwing an incendiary device.

Farrakhan said there is a “law of retaliation” in both the Bible and the Koran that demands the use of deadly force. “A law for retaliation,” he repeated while holding what appeared to be the NOI version of the Koran.

White Americans will only start taking black concerns seriously if blacks begin killing them, he said.

“As long as they [whites] kill us [blacks] and go to Wendy’s and have a burger and go to sleep, they’ll keep killing us,” said Farrakhan, who openly supports Islamic terrorist regimes abroad. “But when we die and they die, then soon we’re going to sit at a table and talk about it! We’re tired! We want some of this earth or we’ll tear this goddamn country up!”

Although President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder and their confederates in the media set the stage for the Ferguson-related civil unrest, publicly urging restraint and nonviolent protest on the one hand while claiming that police departments are hotbeds of racism that need to be reformed, Farrakhan attacked the two men for their perceived willingness to compromise.

Obama, Holder, and other black leaders show how out of touch they are with young blacks when they embrace what Farrakhan called “compromise.” By urging calm these leaders are betraying blacks and doing the bidding of “white people.”

“Tonight in Ferguson everybody is on edge,” Farrakhan said, implying the terror innocent citizens feel at the prospect of mob violence is a wonderful, useful thing.

In a way his comments echo those made a century earlier by Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Soviet secret police. “We stand for organized terror — this should be frankly admitted. Terror is an absolute necessity during times of revolution.”

Whatever makes whites nervous furthers the fundamental transformation of the United States, as the Left sees it.

“White folks have never been on edge after they killed a black man. Tonight they’re on edge; so on edge that our president has come out from behind the curtain to ask young black people: ‘Cool it. That’s not our way.’” Farrakhan said. “I heard you, Mr. President; and I asked myself a question: What brings you out of the shadows?”

Anyone who has followed Farrakhan knows he is dangerously mental unstable even on a good day but his lack of sound mind has never prevented him from spreading his gospel of hate or from winning fans on the Left. Anyone who is honest will acknowledge that the American activist Left has a long history of embracing deranged cult leaders from Rev. Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple in Guyana and Charles Manson to Revs. Jeremiah Wright and Al Sharpton.

Insanity is not in short supply on the topic of Michael Brown. Following the announcement of the non-indictment a week ago, Michael Brown’s stepfather urged an angry mob consisting of several hundred protesters to “Burn this bitch down!” This incitement to riot committed by Louis Head was captured on video.

Head, by the way, is a member of the notorious criminal street gang known as the Bloods. This may help to explain why photos exist showing Brown flashing Blood gang signals and why Brown’s family wore red, the Bloods’ color, to his funeral. Head has two felony narcotics convictions. When released on parole, he violated probation and was remanded to state prison.

Strong-arm robbery is apparently a favorite crime in Brown’s family. Both Head and Brown’s mother Lesley McSpadden are themselves being investigated by Ferguson police for the Oct. 18 robbery and assault of three vendors who were selling “Justice for Mike Brown” merchandise. A police report indicated 20 to 30 people rushed the sellers, taking $400 in cash and $1,500 in goods. McSpadden herself reportedly punched one of the vendors, Brown’s grandmother Pearlie Gordon.

The night of the announcement a minimum of 10 businesses and two police cars were destroyed or damaged by fire in Ferguson, and police arrested 61 individuals. Inexplicably on Nov. 24 Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon ordered the Missouri National Guard to stand down. Nixon had mobilized the Guard to deal with potential post-announcement unrest. Perhaps Obama’s people, who believe that blacks are entitled to riot at perceived injustices, got to him.

On the evening of the announcement, a 20-year-old man named Deandre Joshua was killed and set on fire in his car, mere feet from where Brown died months before. Joshua, a friend of Brown’s robbery accomplice Dorian Johnson, may have been a grand jury witness who corroborated Wilson’s story. One theory is he was killed in retaliation for his testimony.

Johnson is the recidivist lowlife who gave birth to the Big Lie that Brown tried to surrender to Wilson and was then gunned down by the police officer in cold blood. Even though Johnson’s false testimony was ultimately demolished by the evidence, scientific and otherwise, it helped to spur the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” protest movement.

It could be argued that Johnson is at least as morally culpable of attempting to murder Wilson as Brown was because Johnson tried to frame Wilson. If Wilson had been convicted of murder he could have faced the death penalty for murder. Supporters of Wilson are trying to obtain a least a small measure of justice by having Johnson indicted for perjury but these efforts seem pointless in the current political climate.

Meanwhile, the Left is now trying to inflict as much pain as possible on black Americans in order to drive them to open revolt. The more black businesses are burnt to the ground, the better, in their view. Anyone killed in the process can be celebrated as a martyr for the cause.

Citing the purchasing power of black Americans, activists have been urging blacks and others to boycott retailers. Those involved in the Black Friday protests at big-box stores and sophomoric “die-ins” in major cities across the country four days ago are the same people who show up at Occupy Wall Street protests and demonstrations supporting minimum wage increases. The Left excels at recycling its activists. More actions were scheduled for yesterday, informally dubbed Cyber Monday, supposedly the biggest e-commerce sales day of the year.

Profit-generating businesses that communities need in order to survive are fair game in this effort to stamp out the parts of civil society that the Obama junta hasn’t gotten around to obliterating yet. This sick vengeance directed against people who had nothing to do with the demise of Michael Brown is justified because, as a Sixties radical once wrote, “The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.” To left-wing sociopaths, innocent people are mere pieces on a chessboard.

Saul Alinsky-inspired groups have been busy agitating this holiday season.

As this writer previously reported, the remnants of the ACORN activist empire have been deeply involved in the unrest in Ferguson. Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (MORE), a nonprofit group, is the rebranded Missouri branch of the former Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). President Obama used to work for ACORN, and he represented it in court as a lawyer.

MORE has been active in the protests and in efforts to free jailed demonstrators so they can continue vandalizing businesses, intimidating perceived adversaries, setting fires, throwing projectiles and urine at cops, and engaging in the left’s usual modes of so-called nonviolent protest. MORE believes that protesters should be given a blank check to inflict whatever harm they wish on the community in pursuit of social justice.

We now learn that an ACORN successor group was involved in recent post-grand jury decision unrest in Brooklyn, N.Y. New York Communities for Change (NYCC), another offspring of ACORN, was involved in disruptive demonstrations alongside Al Sharpton’s group, National Action Network. The Working Families Party, founded in New York State in the 1990s by ACORN members, is also involved in Ferguson-related actions.

But there is some good news.

There is evidence that ordinary Americans are beginning to fight back against all this mindless, destructive activism by left-wingers who want to hurt blacks and the American system as a whole.

An Internet video that has gone viral shows angry employees trying to get to work last Wednesday giving activists blocking a highway a major dressing-down.

“I gotta go to Ross right now, homie,” Tyree Landrum said on Interstate 5 near San Diego. “If I don’t get there, I’m gonna get fired. I got six f***ing kids to feed, I gotta get this car off the… Day goes on homie. M*****f***ers get shot every f***ing day. Deal with it the right f***ing way, not like this.”

Landrum appears in the video yelling at a road-blocking protester. “I’m about to lose my f***ing job, and you guys are f***ing out here protesting?”

A woman wearing medical scrubs was shown leaving her vehicle and joining in the yelling. “Arrest them!” the nurse shouted. “We have doctors and nurses that have to save lives here.”

Landrum told reporters he works three jobs. When an activist put a megaphone in his face, Landrum fought back.

“I’m like get this bullhorn out of my face,” he said. “At that point I was confused, frustrated, and completely angry.”

“I’m nobody special,” Landrum said. “Just doing what I thought was right.”

Tyree Landrum’s expletive-laden protest against demonstrators trying to deprive black men like him of a living is eloquent testimony to the desperation that normal Americans feel in the face of the crazy race-hatred and chaos that the Left has unleashed in this country.

If righteous explosions like Landrum’s start breaking out more regularly on the fruited plain, the Left won’t have a chance.

They won’t stop until everyone in America hates them.

After trying and failing to ruin Thanksgiving by protesting the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Ferguson protesters have set their sights on disrupting Christmas tree lightings in a confused plot to make absolutely everyone in America hate them.

But don’t confuse the Ferguson Protesters 2.0 screaming “Black Lives Matter” at terrified little kids in a mall or blocking highways so that nurses can’t get to work with the shirtless looters of Ferguson.

The Ferguson Protesters 2.0 are the same old gang of Occupier dropouts; Ivy League hipsters affiliated with radical leftist groups, Trustafarians in plaid panhandling in cities while pecking away at iPads, angry interns at non-profits scoring college credits for protests and revolutionary Communists out of Chevy Chase and East Lake Shore Drive scowling righteously at everyone.

Think of everyone you ever met who wore a Che t-shirt and realize that he’s probably somewhere out there right now screaming “Black lives matter” at a confused family doing some holiday shopping.

They aren’t in Ferguson where there’s no artisanal pizza curated from locally sourced ingredients. Instead they’re in San Francisco, Seattle or Boston screaming that their local mall is just like Ferguson.

Unlike the 1.0 model, the Ferguson Protester 2.0 is more whiny than violent. Don’t expect her to loot any stores while doing her die-in at the mall. She wouldn’t be caught dead shopping there anyway. Don’t expect him to throw anything heavier than a water bottle at you without spraining his wrist.

Ferguson Protester 1.0 was looking for an excuse to smash something. Ferguson Protester 2.0 wants to irritate you into taking a swing at him so he has something to post to his Instagram besides an overworked security guard manhandling him out of a mall while he screams “Power to the people”.

Ferguson 2.0 tries to hide that it’s whiter than Darren Wilson by putting black organizers out front and writing hysterical denunciations of “white people” for not standing behind the few black protesters.

In the 60s it was “Chicks Up Front” (a tactic currently reborn as the “War on Women”); at Ferguson 2.0 it’s “Blacks Up Front” so that the three half-black students in hipster glasses will hide the three dozen white students in hipster glasses standing behind them. The media is eager to cooperate by taking photos from the right angles and of the right protesters (minorities, but not Asian) to make the protests seem like they have something to do with Michael Brown.

They don’t.

Even the Ferguson 1.0 protests had nothing to do with Michael Brown. He was just the excuse for CNN and a whole bunch of Chicago community organizers, Muslim terrorist supporters, citizen journalists with their own Tumblrs and semi-professional looters to turn the whole place into a burning circus. If Michael Brown had died of a drug overdose, of an angry Asian store manager with a shotgun or a bullet fired by a black cop, none of the people wearing shirts with his face on it would care.

Instead they would have a shirt with the face of some other violent thug who is currently lying forgotten and un-merchandised in a morgue because the only truly sad thing about Brown’s death is that he is interchangeable. His family exploited his death to cash in, fighting each other violently over t-shirt sales while leaving him without a headstone. The protesters exploited him to loot stores and burn cars.

The Ferguson 2.0 protests with their disruption of holiday events aren’t there for him. What does breaking up carolers or fighting against giant Snoopy balloons have to do with Brown? What is a red-faced hipster screaming “Black lives matter” at crying little girls in a Seattle mall accomplishing?

Ferguson 2.0 is even less about Michael Brown than 1.0 was. It’s about the same things that Occupy Wall Street and every lefty lecture on racism are really about; contempt for the bourgeoisie, distaste for the middle class by an elite that despises it as shallow and soulless, lacking in depth and meaning.

Ferguson 2.0 is hipster politics.

The furious hipster thinks that he is a deep and spiritual person because he is outraged by Ferguson. But the whole reason he is outraged by the Michael Brown shooting is because he believes that America isn’t. If outrage over Brown were a national consensus, then he would be declaring it a distraction from the issues that truly matter. And those issues would stop mattering if most Americans agreed on them

Wealthy brats throwing a die-in tantrum by lying down in a mall and screaming at middle class shoppers for not caring about the things that they don’t actually want them to care about is the core of the left.

The left wants America to be racist because that justifies its own misguided sense of superiority. It wants it to be poor so that it can campaign against income inequality. It wants America to bomb Muslims so that it has something to protest against. It is trapped in a permanent rebellion against an invisible father who gives them something that their own tolerant parents never could; something to rebel against.

Trying to ruin Thanksgiving and Christmas are spiteful acts that have nothing to do with Ferguson, Michael Brown, police brutality or racism in America. The purpose of shouting down carolers isn’t to assert that “Black lives matter” but that the egos of the shouters do.

The message of Ferguson 2.0 is the same message coming out of Obama Inc. It’s that Americans ought to be miserable because they deserve to be miserable. White privilege is our refusal to acknowledge that we should be unhappy because we don’t deserve happiness. We should feel guilty.

But we don’t.

Ferguson was another of the left’s morality plays teaching us that we are bad people. It was never about Michael Brown just as ObamaCare was never about helping the uninsured. It was about punishing us.

Ferguson 2.0 is taking the left’s tantrum to your morning commute and your holiday outing. It’s the whine of aspiring community organizers whose mission statement is to make you suffer for social justice so that you’ll become as “deep” and “empathetic” as the sorts of people who prevent health care workers from getting to their jobs to make an asinine point about their own moral superiority.

The Ferguson 2.0 protesters won’t stay there. They are the politicians and non-profit executives of tomorrow. They will be in the White House and the EPA and a dozen other alphabet agencies setting policy. Their tantrums are futile but activism builds their resume. It announces that they are radicals eager to work on wrecking the system from within.

Now they’re ruining a Christmas tree lighting. Tomorrow if they aren’t stopped they’ll be running and ruining America.

Rage is not justice.

Rather than denounce the shameful lawlessness demonstrated by many “protesters” demanding “justice” in the wake of the grand jury decision about Officer Darren Wilson, progressives are doubling down by posting rationalizations for the rioting.

Marc Lamont Hill, for example, author of a book on “hip hop pedagogy” who hilariously describes himself as “one of the leading intellectual voices in the country,” tweeted, “The story of ferguson tonight is way bigger than looting or violence. People are angry. People are hurting. They’re killing us with impunity.” This is nonsense. People don’t loot and burn down neighborhood businesses because they are angry and hurting; they do so because trumped-up racial controversies give a criminal element the cover to commit crimes against business owners who had nothing to do with the controversy. Rioters steal big-screen TVs and Nike sneakers because they’re hurting? Ridiculous. They steal them because they are opportunistic thieves.

The hugely popular Gawker site, in an article claiming that “riots are good,” actually argues that “rioting is economically efficient”: “Since state authorities are always and everywhere most concerned about capital and business interests, threatening to impose costs on them via rioting should have a similar impact on police incentives” – by which it means that destructive rioting now supposedly discourages the police from shooting innocent black males later. What it really dissuades economically is businesses starting up or rebuilding in a neighborhood devastated by looters. The costs it imposes are not on the police, but on the victimized local business owners and their employees. But then, celebrity gossip is Gawker’s strong suit, not economics or common sense.

Perhaps the most unintentionally comical defense of rioting is from Mask Magazine, “an online style + living magazine for antagonist youth.” With a title that could have come straight out of the satiric site The Onion, “Hey, Step Back with the Riot Shaming” explains irrationally that “[People of color] are criminals because we are seen as criminals.” [emphasis in original] So, simply being viewed with suspicion causes people to commit crimes? The writer argues (actually, he doesn’t “argue” anything; he just spews a lot of whiny victimhood) that blacks don’t “own” neighborhoods; there are black-owned businesses, he concedes, but in the next breath he claims that “we don’t have shit,” and so apparently it’s all right to loot and burn the black-owned neighborhood businesses that he says blacks don’t have.

Even before the grand jury decision, as early as August right after the shooting of Michael Brown, a site called the New Inquiry put up a piece with the straightforward title, “In Defense of Looting.” It was Marxist, racist agit-prop written by a guy whose bio identifies him as “a member of the punk band Vulture Shit.” Here’s a sample: “Only if you believe that having nice things for free is amoral, if you believe, in short, that the current (white-supremacist, settler-colonialist) regime of property is just, can you believe that looting is amoral in itself.” Here’s another: “Looters are only stealing from the rich owners’ profit margins. Those owners, meanwhile, especially if they own a chain like QuikTrip, steal forty hours every week from thousands of employees who in return get the privilege of not dying for another seven days.” This sounds like easily dismissed, Occupy lunacy, but unfortunately it is representative of the “thinking” of a depressing percentage of young people.

Also in August, the radical Salon.com posted a piece “in defense of black rage,” in which the writer states about rioting, “I refuse to condemn the folks engaged in these acts, because I respect black rage… How dare people preach and condescend to these people and tell them not to loot, not to riot? Yes, those are destructive forms of anger, but frankly I would rather these people take their anger out on property and products rather than on other people.”

But what Salon and other riot apologists refuse to acknowledge is that those products and property don’t exist in a vacuum; they belong to people who had nothing to do with the controversy and yet whose lives are seriously damaged, and in some cases ruined, by the looting and burning of that property.

In addition to these intellectually insupportable attempts to justify rioting, other progressive voices took the opportunity to simply fuel the fire. In apparent response to tweets that the rioters should “go back to Africa,” The Atlantic’s popular Ta-Nahisi Coates, perhaps best-known for his recent article supporting slave reparations, tweeted, “Not how this works. We are here to run you out, not the other way around.” If he’s saying that blacks are here to run whites out of the country, then that’s a rather militantly racist admission.

Another militant, UPenn’s willfully illiterate Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Africana Studies Anthea Butler – whose unhinged response to the George Zimmerman verdict I have previously written about – posted an equally unhinged response this time, an inflammatory article asserting that Michael Brown was a “sacrifice to the god of white supremacy.”

In all fairness, not all the progressive voices attempted to whitewash the rioting or fan the flames. Charles M. Blow of The New York Times, for example, kept a relatively even keel in his Wednesday op-ed:

No one of good character and conscience condones rioting or looting or any destruction of property. Those enterprises aren’t only criminal, they’re fruitless and counterproductive and rob one’s own neighborhood of needed services and facilities and unfairly punish the people who saw fit to follow a dream and an entrepreneurial spirit, and invest in themselves and those communities in the first place.

“But people absolutely have a right to their feelings,” Blow continues, “including anger and frustration.” Of course. But what the riot apologists won’t acknowledge is that violent rage is not justice or justification.

The left-wing lies that precipitated a made-to-order riot.

The riot in Ferguson reminds me, I hate criminals, but I hate liberals more. They planned this riot. They stoked the fire, lied about the evidence and produced a made-to-order riot.

Every other riot I’ve ever heard of was touched off by some spontaneous event that exploded into mob violence long before any media trucks arrived. This time, the networks gave us a countdown to the riot, as if it were a Super Bowl kickoff.

From the beginning, Officer Darren Wilson’s shooting of Michael Brown wasn’t reported like news. It was reported like a cause.

The media are in a huff about the prosecutor being “biased” because his father was a cop, who was shot and killed by an African-American. What an assh@le!

Evidently, the sum-total of what every idiot on TV knows about the law is Judge Sol Wachtler’s 20-year-old joke that a prosecutor could “indict a ham sandwich.” We’re supposed to be outraged that this prosecutor didn’t indict the ham sandwich of Darren Wilson.

Liberals seem not to understand that they don’t have a divine right to ruin someone’s life and bankrupt him with a criminal trial, just so they’re satisfied.

The reason most grand jury investigations result in an indictment is that most grand juries aren’t convened solely to patronize racial mobs. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon was basically demanding an indictment of Wilson before Big Mike’s body was cold. It was only because of racial politics that this shooting wasn’t dismissed without a grand jury, at all.

Obama says anger is an “understandable reaction” to the grand jury’s finding. Why? And why — as almost everyone is saying — are we supposed to praise the “peaceful protests”?

There’s nothing to protest! A cop shot a thug who was trying to kill him. The grand jury documents make perfectly clear that Big Mike was entirely responsible for his own death. Can’t the peaceful protesters read?

The night of the riot, Obama said the law “often feels as if it is being applied in discriminatory fashion.” Maybe, but not in this case — except toward Officer Wilson.

I know liberals were hoping they had finally found the great white whale of racism, but they’re just going to have to keep plugging away. They might want to come up with a more productive way to spend their time, inasmuch as they’re about 0:100 on white racism sightings.

Anyone following this case has seen the video of Big Mike robbing a store and roughing up an innocent Pakistani clerk about 10 minutes before being shot by Officer Wilson. They’ve seen him flashing Bloods gang signs in photos.

They know Brown’s mother was recently arrested for clubbing grandma with a pipe over T-shirt proceeds. They’ve seen the video of Brown’s ex-con stepfather shouting at a crowd of protesters after the grand jury’s decision: “Burn this bitch down!”

Liberals will say none of that is relevant in court, but apparently they don’t think actual evidence is relevant either. It’s certainly relevant in the court of public opinion that the alleged victims are a cartoonishly lower-class, periodically criminal black family.

TV hosts narrated the riot by saying it showed “the community” feels it’s not being listened to. Only liberals look at blacks looting and say, See what white Americans made them do?

That’s their proof of injustice — look at how blacks are reacting! (While I don’t approve of the looting part, I do approve of the whole throwing-bottles-at-CNN part.)

The looters aren’t the community!

The community doesn’t want black thugs robbing stores and sauntering down the middle of its streets. The community doesn’t want to be assaulted by Big Mike. The community didn’t want its stores burned down.

That community testified in support of Officer Darren Wilson. About a half-dozen black witnesses supported Officer Wilson’s version of what happened. One was a black woman, who saw the shooting from the Canfield Green apartments. Crying on the stand, she said, “I have a child and that could have been my son.”

And yet, she confirmed all crucial parts of Wilson’s account. She said “the child” (292-pound Big Mike) never had his hands up and the cop only fired when “the baby” was coming at him. “Why won’t that boy stop?” she asked her husband.

I always want to know more about the heroic black witnesses. They are put in a position no white person will ever be in and do the right thing by telling the truth — then go into hiding from “the community” being championed by goo-goo liberals.

White people don’t feel any obligation to defend some thug just because he’s white. Only blacks are expected to lie on behalf of criminals of their own race.

But real heroism doesn’t interest liberals. They only ooh-and-ahh over blacks with rap sheets. The only meaningful white racism anymore is the liberal infantilization of black people.

The lynch mob politics embraced by the Obama administration hit the streets of America.

And so the whirlwind, cultivated by Barack Obama, Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, the mainstream media and the army of thugs they enabled, is now being reaped. As the result of a St. Louis County grand jury refusing to indict officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of Michael Brown, Ferguson, MO has become Ground Zero, in what irresponsible Missouri State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadali referred to on MSNBC as “St. Louis’s race war.”

One of the race war’s architects pleaded for calm shortly after the decision was announced. Yet even as Obama spoke about that “need for calm” and that there was “no excuse for violence,” he insisted, “We have to try to understand” the anger of those who demanded nothing less than a murder charge absent an ounce of evidence as an “understandable reaction” from people who believe “the law is being applied in a discriminatory fashion.”

Where did those people get that belief? Leave it to Obama to omit that critical information — the same President Obama who met with protest leaders and Sharpton on Nov. 5 at the White House. It was at that unscheduled meeting the president was ostensibly “concerned about Ferguson staying on course in terms of pursuing what it was that he knew we were advocating,” according to Sharpton. “He said he hopes that we’re doing all we can to keep peace.”

One is left to marvel at one of two realities. Either we have a president so utterly naive he believes a hoax-perpetrating, riot-inciting Al Sharpton, who denigrated the grand jury process, pre-organized protest rallies in 25 American cities, and uses his MSNBC platform to fire up racial unrest, is a man of peace. Or the president, who once urged his Latino followers to “punish our enemies,” remains as wedded to the same racial “us against them” mentality as America’s foremost racial arsonist. Is it really possible to believe the former?

Despite Obama’s superficial condemnations of violence, at least 25 businesses were set ablaze, many of which are total losses—and most of which were minority owned. Ten cars were burned at a dealership, and a “lot of gunfire,” as Ferguson Asst. Fire Chief Steve Fair put it, made maintaining control of the streets highly problematic, if not impossible. Reporters were assaulted, the store Michael Brown robbed prior to his confrontation with Wilson was looted, and at least 61 people have been arrested. “What I’ve seen tonight is probably much worse than the worst night we ever had in August, and that’s truly unfortunate,” said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar Monday at a 1:30 a.m press conference. Belmar further noted that there was “nothing left” along West Florissant between Solway Avenue and Chambers Road, that he heard at least 150 gun shots, and that he was surprised he and Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson, who “got lit up,” as they drove through the area, weren’t hit by that gunfire.

“We talked about peaceful protest, and that did not happen tonight,” Johnson said. “We definitely have done something here that’s going to impact our community for a long time…that’s not how we create change.”

Sharpton continued to stir the pot, criticizing Democratic Prosecutor Bob McCulloch’s handling of the case, and demanding to know who voted for or against indicting Wilson, even though the law prohibits that information from being released. Sharpton’s motives are transparent. The grand jury was comprised of nine white and three black jurors, seven of whom were men, and five of whom were women. Agreement by nine of 12 jurors was necessary to file criminal charges, and there is no doubt Sharpton was attempting to exacerbate the racial divide with the implication that race was the over-riding, if not sole, factor in the decision.

The grand jury met 25 times over the course of three months and heard testimony from 60 witnesses. They contemplated charges ranging from first-degree murder to involuntary manslaughter, and the bar for indictment was “probable cause,” not the far more onerous standard of determining “beyond a reasonable doubt” whether a crime had been committed. A plethora of evidence from the proceedings was released, demonstrating how the jury came to the conclusions it did. It included testimony from Wilson himself, physical evidence, and other eyewitness testimony, including some from black Americans who corroborated Wilson’s version of events. ”They determined that no probable cause exists to file any charge against Officer Wilson, and returned a ‘No True Bill’ on each of the five indictments,” explained McCulloch.

None of it mattered to the mob—or seemingly the media either. McCulloch faced a hostile press during his post-announcement interview, one that has characterized that interview as “bizarre,” no doubt in response to his contention the media’s “insatiable appetite for something, for anything to talk about, following closely behind with the non-stop rumors on social media,” contributed to the firestorm surrounding this case.

That would be the same media that initially lionized Brown’s friend, Dorian Johnson, whose thoroughly debunked eyewitness testimony about Brown being shot in the back while holding his hands up in surrender, epitomized the sensationalism that ignited the national firestorm. Johnson’s lie propelled much of the violence and unrest that followed, initiating the “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” meme that remains prevalent to this day. It was the same media that perpetrated the “gentle giant” meme to describe the 6’4’’ nearly 300-pound Brown, only to see it undone by his participation in a strong-arm robbery of a much smaller store owner just prior to his confrontation with Wilson. It was the media who leaked information during the grand jury proceedings, drawing a rebuke from an “exasperated” Holder, despite the reality that MSNBC, The New York Times and the Daily Caller all cited the administration and the Justice Department itself as sources of those leaks. That would be the same Eric Holder who ginned up mistrust of the police when he spoke to 50 community leaders, not just as Attorney General of the United States, but “as a black man” who remembers how “angry” he was when police stopped him for speeding on the New Jersey Turnpike.

That would also be the same Eric Holder, who like his efforts in the Trayvon Martin case, initiated two separate DOJ investigations, one of potential civil rights violations allegedly committed by Wilson, and the other regarding practices of the Ferguson police force. “While the grand jury proceeding in St. Louis County has concluded, the Justice Department’s investigation into the shooting of Michael Brown remains ongoing,” he said. “In addition, the Department continues to investigate allegations of unconstitutional policing patterns or practices by the Ferguson Police Department.”

As for social media, the Twitterverse is currently inundated with calls for the murder of Officer Wilson.

Thus it is unsurprising the protests have spread beyond Ferguson. In Oakland, CA, hundreds of protesters bearing signs that read “The People Say Guilty!” and “Missouri, Palestine, Justice Now!” (an illuminating linkage to say the least) blocked a major highway and other streets, starting fires, breaking the window of a bank, and spray painting a police cruiser with graffiti. In New York City, three bridges were blocked, there were marchers in Times Square and the Police Commissioner had fake blood thrown at him. A total of 90 cities across the nation were besieged by protesters who were seemingly united by a trio of themes: Michael Brown was innocent, Darren Wilson was guilty, and police departments deliberately and disproportionately target black America.

And once again, a mainstream media still interested in fanning the racialist flames is leading the way. The same CNN that ripped the heavy police presence in Ferguson last August is the CNN whose morning co-anchor Michaela Pereira spoke about the community’s “frustration the police didn’t do more to protect those businesses.” Vox columnist Ezra Klein, who apparently considers himself more knowledgable than the grand jury, penned a column whose title says it all: “Officer Darren Wilson’s story is unbelievable. Literally.” Why? “None of this fits with what we know of Michael Brown,” Klein insists, even as he admits the encounter with Wilson happened shortly after the aforementioned robbery. Salon.com pushed the envelope to the max, declaring the jury’s decision “reaffirmed what we already knew: America is a white supremacist state.”

Even Brown’s immediate family, who initially expressed “profound disappointment with the decision, but asked that the protests “be kept peaceful,” had their wishes undermined by stepfather Louis Head. Shortly after the decision was reached, he urged the crowd 10 times to “burn this bitch down.”

Those four words aptly describe the agenda of those with a vested interest in keeping Americans divided, angry and completely convinced the nation is a cesspool of racism where law enforcement must be considered the “enemy.” A nation where there are no longer irrefutable facts backed by witnesses and evidence, but a nation where reason and truth can only be determined after the filter of race is applied. One where the narrative must be served, even when that narrative assumes the characteristics of a lynch mob calling for the death of a police officer.

It is a narrative that dismisses the reality of a disproportionate amount of homicides and other crimes committed by black Americans (overwhelmingly against other black Americans) relative to their population, even as it has long glorified the thug culture that engenders most of it. It is the narrative that demands police forces who “reflect the racial demography of the community,” even as many black Americans have been “taught from the time that you could speak, from the time that you could understand speech, that police are to be feared and that they’re part of an occupying force that is there to circumvent the democratic processes and to strip you of your rights,” according to Phillip Atiba Goff, co-founder and president of the Center for Policing Equity at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Saddest of all, it is the narrative supported by a president whose track record extends from his past with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his racist rantings and assertions the Cambridge police “acted stupidly” when they arrested Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., to his efforts to exacerbate racial discord during and after the Trayvon Martin saga. He is joined by an Attorney General who believes Americans are a “nation of cowards” when it comes to discussing race, one who insists voter ID is tantamount to “black disenfranchisement,” and continues to run the most racially polarized DOJ in recent history.

Even worse, both men have unduly elevated the status of race huckster Al Sharpton, showing up at National Action Network (NAN) galas to sing his praises. That odious reality is tantamount to a Republican president showing up at a meeting of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization and singing the praises of its white supremacist founder, David Duke. The fact that such as comparison is never made obscures the depths of the racial polarization embraced by the nations’s top two law enforcement officials. It is both an ongoing tragedy and a national disgrace that will only be assuaged when Sharpton and every other person who profits from the misery of millions is ejected from the national stage.

Until then, America will seethe. Well-meaning Americans on both sides of the color line will tread warily, remaining ultimately distrustful of each other, lest they be branded sellouts to “the cause.” The mob and its media enablers will continue to foment violence, looting, death and destruction, based largely on the notion that such mayhem is a “reasonable” price to be extracted from an irredeemably racist nation in need of “fundamental transformation.” One family will mourn for a son who could not resist the siren song of thug culture, while another family will continue to live in terror perhaps forever, or at least until the mob finds another bogeyman at whom it can channel its orchestrated blood-lust. The thin blue line that separates America from the anarchists will be stretched to its limits.

And the promise of a post-racial society that once propelled this president into the White House now more closely resembles the division and racialist bean-counting that epitomizes the community organizer mindset. In short, hope and change is going up in flames in Ferguson, MO.

The lynch mob is egged on by the Radical-in-Chief.

Grand jurors in Ferguson, Mo., refused to indict local police officer Darren Wilson yesterday, heroically resisting pressure from President Obama on down to lynch an innocent police officer who fought off a violent attacker.

The decision is infuriating left-wingers across America because it rebuts the underlying assumption they embrace which is that white police racism caused the death of Michael Brown, a young black thug who tried to seize Wilson’s gun in an attempt to do the officer harm.

As fresh rioting was already underway in the St. Louis area, the decision also angered President Obama who could barely contain his hostility in a disgraceful, unprecedented television appearance following the release of the announcement about the non-indictments. Obama urged activists to refrain from using violence. The president himself bears direct responsibility for fomenting the combustible situation, however.

The county’s elected prosecuting attorney, Robert McCulloch, calmly explained the process in detail last night that the grand jury employed in choosing not to return indictments in five potential charges from first-degree murder to lesser offenses.

McCulloch is a white Democrat who has come under heavy fire from race-baiting members of his own political party. His partisans hate him because he does not share their antipathy for police officers, and presumably, because he is the wrong color. McCulloch easily secured the Democratic nomination for his office in a primary election four days before Brown was killed. In that contest, he handily beat former state public defender Leslie T. Broadnax, a black woman, by a margin of 71.4 percent to 28.6 percent.

McCulloch said many witnesses gave testimony that was not believable. Witnesses fabricated events, admitted they were in error, clung to discredited factual accounts, or gave evidence inconsistent with the physical evidence.

McCulloch said grand jurors were “the only people who heard every witness … and every piece of evidence.”

“These grand jurors poured their hearts and soul into this process,” he said. The grand jury consisted of nine whites and three blacks and was meeting every week since Aug. 20 to hear evidence in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. The panel convened for 70 hours and heard from 60 witnesses.

Perhaps in a conciliatory gesture to those who wanted Wilson strung up, McCulloch referred to the death of Brown and the events surrounding it as tragic. Obama too used the word tragic.

But that is the wrong word.

Recall that Brown, an 18-year-old black male, was killed in Ferguson, Mo., on Aug. 9 by white police officer Darren Wilson after he attacked Wilson and tried to grab his handgun. As previously reported, autopsy results were consistent with witness accounts that Brown reached for Wilson’s gun during their fateful altercation.

Brown’s death was not tragic. He was a villain. The evidence shows that he initiated potentially deadly force against an officer of the law and suffered the consequences of his actions. Grand jurors only needed a little bit of evidence to indict Officer Wilson. The evidence needed only to establish that probable cause existed to charge Wilson with a crime. The prosecution couldn’t even satisfy that low legal bar. The Wilson case may never have made it to a grand jury at all were it not for the antics of left-wing racial grievance groups working with and taking directions from the Obama administration.

The decision not to indict Wilson is not a tragedy. Far from it. The decision is just, proof that the grand jury system that was created to prevent governments from railroading unpopular defendants still works.

The tragedy is that Wilson had to be subjected to a three-month-long circus in which he was wrongfully accused of being a racist, murdering cop. He was demonized in the media day in and day out, a process that continues in the nation’s newsrooms even after last night’s announcement.

Petulant, as America’s childish Commander-in-Chief is wont to be when he fails to get his way, Obama sounded angry that grand jurors failed to indict Officer Wilson. The plot by Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Obama operative Al Sharpton to lynch Wilson in the courts failed.

Coming across like a Latin American caudillo, Obama sounded disgusted with Ferguson police and police forces across the nation in a press briefing last night.

Instead of accepting the grand jury’s wise decision, Obama set about stoking the flames. After spending months stirring up racial antagonism, Obama pontificated as if an innocent bystander of the events.

The decision “was going to be subject of intense disagreement not only in Ferguson, but across America, so I want to just say a few words suggesting how we might move forward,” he said, without noting that Wilson’s use of justifiable force against Brown became a national issue at his instigation.

Ignoring the fact that the death of Michael Brown had everything to do with his threatening, abusive behavior and absolutely nothing to do with his race, Obama implied cops hate minorities.

“We need to recognize that the situation in Ferguson speaks to broader challenges that we still face as a nation,” Obama said, even though no broader challenges that we face as a nation played a role in Brown’s death.

“The fact is, in too many parts of this country, a deep distrust exists between law enforcement and communities of color,” he said, without noting that he and his comrades-in-arms in the world of community organizing have created distrust and disharmony where none previously existed.

Obama then blamed white people for Michael Brown attacking Darren Wilson.

“Some of this is the result of the legacy of racial discrimination in this country,” Obama said even though there is no evidence that the residue of racial discrimination played any role in Brown’s death.

“And this is tragic, because nobody needs good policing more than poor communities with higher crime rates,” Obama said. “The good news is we know there are things we can do to help, and I’ve instructed Attorney General Holder to work with cities across the country to help build better relations between communities and law enforcement.” Obama said this even though the case at hand provided no evidence that there is a problem between communities and law enforcement.

The president then pivoted to make a pitch for affirmative action in police departments:

That means working with law enforcement officials to make sure their ranks are representative of the communities they serve. We know that makes a difference. It means working to train officials so that law enforcement conducts itself in a way that is fair to everybody. It means enlisting the community actively on what should be everybody’s goal, and that is to prevent crime.

These are mere policing platitudes Obama is lip-syncing as he advances the notion that only black police officers are suited to work in black communities. We do not know that it makes a difference. In fact, enforced diversity can be deadly.

We know that in the rush to furnish communities with cops of the correct skin color corners are likely to get cut and people will die as a result. Economist John Lott found in a 2000 study that the apartheid approach to police staffing led to increases in violent crime, especially in black neighborhoods. This is because the forced lowering of standards put less-qualified officers of all skin colors on the streets.

Even though the justice system ultimately worked in Ferguson, Obama pretends there is still a problem because there aren’t enough blacks in the local constabulary, in his view. He urged communities “interested in working with this administration and local and state officials to start tackling much-needed criminal justice reform,” even though the Brown-Wilson saga does not prove any reform of the criminal justice system is needed.

Obama continued ignoring the facts, insisting there is a problem.

“We have made enormous progress in race relations over the course of the past several decades … but what is also true is that there are still problems and communities of color aren’t just making these problems up,” Obama said, again ignoring that there is no evidence of a problem.

“Those who are only interested in focusing on the violence and just want the problem to go away need to recognize that we do have work to do here, and we shouldn’t try to paper it over,” he said without proving there is any work to be done. “Whenever we do that, the anger may momentarily subside, but over time, it builds up and America isn’t everything that it could be.”

It is as if the psychosis our troubled president suffers from regarding Ebola, the virus Obama is lovingly importing from West Africa, has spread to other issues as well. Only Obama and his fellow travelers say there is a problem in Ferguson.

The mass hysteria over Michael Brown’s death that Obama and his allies generated continues.

It is yet another success for America’s first Alinskyite president.

Why supporters of Palestinian terrorists have made common cause with the rioters in MO.

The same violent protesters in Ferguson, Missouri demonstrating against the killing of Michael Brown have also been taking it to the streets in Detroit and elsewhere to press for the release of a Palestinian terrorist who killed two Israelis.

Activists are blackmailing the grand jury that is now hearing evidence against Wilson. If the grand jurors refuse to indict Wilson, radical activists are promising even more mayhem. The message is unmistakable: indict the cop, and there will be peace; don’t, and Ferguson will burn.

Brown is the young, black, 6’4″, 292-pound man who was killed by white police officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9. When media outlets describe Brown they usually omit the fact that he viciously assaulted Wilson and tried to seize his handgun, presumably in an effort to do the officer harm. Journalists also tend to downplay the fact that minutes before Brown attacked Wilson he robbed a convenience store.

The Palestinian terrorist is Rasmea (also spelled Rasmieh) Odeh who was convicted by a Detroit jury on Monday of immigration fraud. Prosecutors accused Odeh of killing Israelis in the Sixties and then lying about it in U.S. immigration papers.

Odeh was previously convicted in Israel “for her role in the 1969 bombings of a supermarket and the British Consulate in Jerusalem, which were carried out on behalf of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist organization,” according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism. Prosecutors said one of the supermarket bombs killed two people and injured others. Odeh received a sentence of life imprisonment but was released after 10 years as part of a prisoner swap.

Odeh used to live in Michigan and resided in Chicago until her bail was revoked Monday. In Chicago she was employed as associate director of the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), which was founded by terrorist promoter Rashid Khalidi and his wife, Mona. Khalidi, a Columbia University professor and former director of the PLO’s press agency, is a well-known friend of Barack Obama. AAAN, which is hostile to Israel, claims “to challenge government policies that violate the civil, political and human rights of the Arab American and Arab immigrant community.”

The seditious collaboration in Ferguson between anti-American left-wingers, some of whom are well-funded, and anti-American Islamofascists isn’t all that unusual in U.S. politics but it receives scant attention from the media.

Leftist and Islamist groups routinely work together in the U.S. Not many on the activist Left are wary of their comrades’ working relationship with Muslim totalitarians who would joyfully slit their atheist, infidel throats upon coming to power. One such leftist, Meredith Tax, acknowledged in a book last year that aligning with Islamic fundamentalists was a terrible idea.

But Tax is a very rare bird. Most leftists see America’s enemies as their natural allies, so when an opportunity for a working partnership arises they seize it with gusto. As they see things, whatever it takes to advance so-called social justice is justified.

As a Sixties radical once wrote, “The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.”

In other words, whatever the cause, whether inner city blacks or illegal aliens or women, it is merely a pretext for action. It is an opportunity to advance the real cause which is the accumulation of the power needed to foment and effectuate revolutionary change.

Rana Baker, a writer at Electronic Intifada, explained the Marxist, identity politics-driven rationale for this cooperation between American leftists and Islamic supremacists in Ferguson. In an article filled with politically correct drivel she wrote:

Unsurprisingly, many of the police deployed to crush unarmed protesters demanding justice for the brutal murder of eighteen-year-old black American Mike Brown are Israel-trained. Despotic tactics Palestinians largely associate with Israel’s colonial military, such as teargassing protesters and harassing journalists, have all been implemented in Ferguson. Although Ferguson and Palestine are two different contexts, both places and their people are fighting against white supremacist regimes of oppression which continue to view them as “disposable others” and act accordingly … it is the moral responsibility of every Palestinian to support and foster relations with the struggles of the oppressed all over the world.

No one who follows the Left should be shocked to learn that Ferguson has been dominated by rent-a-mobs in recent weeks, complete with leftist astroturfers determined to stir the pot.

Groups endorsing Ferguson October, last month’s festival of leftist looting and self-righteous posturing in the beleaguered St. Louis suburb, included a hodgepodge of activist organizations –many of them Saul Alinsky-inspired pressure groups — that have little or nothing to do with Ferguson, Michael Brown, or Darren Wilson. The only thing these labor movement and Occupy Wall Street activists had in common was that they were left-wing.

Among them were: Action for the Common Good; Advancement Project; Alliance for a Just Society; Amnesty International; CAAAV: Organizing Asian Communities (Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence); ColorOfChange.org; Catholic Worker; Chinese Progressive Association; Coalition of Black Trade Unionists; Code Pink; Divestment Student Network; Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation; Fighting Against Natural Gas (FANG); Gamaliel Foundation; International Socialist Organization (ISO); Juvenile Urban Multicultural Program (at Syracuse University); Korean American Resource & Cultural Center; LeftRoots; Million Hoodies Movement for Justice; National Domestic Workers Alliance; National Network for Arab American Communities; National Organization for Women (NOW); New Black Panther Party; New Economy Coalition; PICO National Network; Progressive Democrats of America; Sierra Student Coalition (a project of the Sierra Club); St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee; Universal African Peoples Organization; United for Peace and Justice; US Action; US Palestinian Community Network; Veterans for Peace; and Working Families Party.

Many of these groups have taken money from radical billionaire George Soros. Those on his payroll include Advancement Project, Gamaliel Foundation, NOW, and US Action.

Lee Cary has also painstakingly detailed at American Thinker the 45 organizations that are now placing demands on police agencies in the St. Louis area. The groups, which are part of the Don’t Shoot Coalition, are attempting to define the rules of engagement between law enforcement and activists to make it easier for radicals to set Ferguson on fire in the event Wilson is not indicted.

Remnants of the ACORN activist empire are involved in organizing unrest in Ferguson.

Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (MORE), a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, is the rebranded Missouri branch of the former Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) which filed for bankruptcy in late 2010. That ACORN state chapter reconstituted itself in December 2009 as MORE under orders from ACORN’s national headquarters. President Obama used to work for ACORN and he represented it in court as a lawyer.

MORE is also a recipient of taxpayer funding — and to no one’s surprise — it is not a good steward of those dollars. MORE received $21,000 for its “foreclosure prevention” efforts but “did not fully comply” with the rules, according to the St. Louis city comptroller’s “fiscal monitoring review” released a few days before Brown was shot.

MORE’s executive director is longtime ACORN organizer Jeff Ordower. Ordower, an outspoken vote fraud apologist, previously ran Missouri ACORN and oversaw ACORN’s Midwest operations. He was also an SEIU organizer in Texas.

The Working Families Party, founded in New York State in the 1990s by ACORN members, is also involved in Ferguson. It endorsed Ferguson October but the extent of its on-the-ground involvement was unclear at time of writing.

All these superficially distinct groups have come together in Ferguson to pay homage to violent criminals –a murderer of Israelis and a would-be murderer of a police officer– for two reasons.

First, because Rasmea Odeh and Michael Brown are model citizens, according to the leftist worldview. Radical activists see them and their disruptive, antisocial behavior as representing the best that humanity has to offer.

Second, because banding together and pooling their power to disrupt society helps to create strife and chaos. The subsequent crises can be leveraged to promote the kinds of change that leftists would like to see.

As the old radical said, the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.

VonDerrit Myers Jr. (front right)

More than two months after a black man was killed trying to wrest a handgun away from a white police officer, left-wing protesters continue to perpetrate acts of violence with relative impunity in and around Ferguson, Mo. where the incident happened.

Reports indicate 17 people were arrested during weekend demonstrations as activists geared up for even more violence and vandalism in the St. Louis suburb that has been under siege by cop-hating radicals more or less continuously since the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown.

Activists in Ferguson are also upset that a different 18-year-old black man was shot and killed in a separate incident last week by a police officer in the St. Louis area. VonDerrit Myers Jr. was shot dead in St. Louis City, reportedly after shooting at an officer three times during a chase. Myers was wearing a monitoring ankle bracelet as a condition of bail from a gun case months ago. After Myers’s death, activists reportedly broke windows, burned a U.S. flag, and attacked journalists.

Thousands of protesters converged on Ferguson over the weekend, according to reports. The out-of-state visitors included anti-war radicals left over from the Sixties, seminarians, college students, and fast food workers imported from Chicago, Nashville, and elsewhere.

Community organizers are also hard at work attempting to destabilize Ferguson and the surrounding region.

On the weekend, protesters were “attempting to storm” a business and were “throwing rocks at the police,” according to St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson.

Some activists have made it clear that they are willing to use force to get their way.

“We still are knee deep in this situation,” said rap artist and community organizer Tef Poe, whose real name is Kareem Jackson.

“We have not packed up our bags, we have not gone home,” said Poe. “This is not a fly-by-night moment. This is not a made-for-TV revolution. This is real people standing up to a real problem and saying, ‘We ain’t taking it no more.’”

Organizers of the “Ferguson October” protests falsely claim that blacks are routinely gunned down by white police officers. Their website states:

Our country can no longer deny the epidemic of police violence facing Black and Brown communities. Mike Brown is now part of a long list of people like John Crawford, Ezell Ford, Eric Garner, Oscar Grant and countless others who have been unjustly killed by police. Their lives mattered. Join Hands Up United, Organization for Black Struggle, Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment and our partners in Ferguson from October 10-13th for a weekend of resistance. We’re hosting a series of public events—marches, convenings and panels— to build momentum for a nationwide movement against police violence.

But in reality these protests have little to do with justice for Brown, the 18-year-old shot in the August incident. Their purpose is to intimidate local authorities, including the grand jury that is sitting to decide if police officer Darren Wilson should be charged in the shooting of Michael Brown. Activists are demanding criminal charges against Wilson regardless of the evidence.

The grand jury is expected in coming weeks to determine if Wilson, a decorated white policeman, will face criminal charges for killing Brown, a young black man who reportedly attacked him minutes after robbing a convenience store. Ferguson has been plagued by violent demonstrations since the shooting. Hundreds of people, including individuals police call “outside agitators,” have been arrested in nearly continuous protests since Brown’s death.

Radical left-wing agitators billing themselves as civil rights activists promise more mayhem and deadly violence if the grand jury declines to indict Wilson in the shooting of Brown.

The politically correct lie that a helpless 6’4″ 292-lbs. Brown was shot in cold blood, arms raised while attempting to surrender to white Wilson, instead of the less convenient truth that Brown was beating the cop while reaching for his gun, is alive and well. In the minutes before the altercation with Wilson, Brown was captured on video bullying a much smaller East Indian shopkeeper during a robbery, an act that some might consider a hate crime.

These Ferguson demonstrations that have been blessed by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, help to reinforce President Obama’s narrative that America is a deeply, systemically racist nation that needs to be fundamentally transformed. They also help to put race relations in the spotlight weeks away from the midterm congressional elections in which Democrats appear poised to receive an electoral shellacking.

Obama and congressional Democrats are desperate and it shows. They need racial strife and resentment in order to rev up their voters. They see the prospect of hanging onto control of the U.S. Senate slipping away a little bit more each day. They have no achievements from recent years to speak of so they prefer to keep the talking heads of the mainstream media busy discussing make-believe problems such as income inequality, imaginary racism, the GOP’s alleged war on women, the name of the Washington Redskins football team, how global warming is more of a threat to the civilized world than the Islamic State, and how Republicans supposedly caused ebola outbreaks by not giving in to President Obama’s budgetary requests.

On Monday noted Marxist academic Cornel West was arrested in Ferguson.

He visited the city for propaganda purposes, specifically, to be taken into custody in front of TV cameras. “It’s a beautiful thing to see people on fire for justice, but I didn’t come here to give a speech,” West said Sunday evening. “I came here to go to jail.”

West, unlike most of his fellow protesters in Ferguson, is at least honest about his intentions.

If Darren Wilson isn't indicted, radical activists promise mayhem.

Police in Ferguson, Mo. are preparing for the mayhem and deadly violence that radical activists are promising if a grand jury declines to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown two months ago.

A grand jury is expected to determine next month if Wilson, a decorated white policeman, will face criminal charges for killing Brown, an 18-year-old black man who reportedly attacked him minutes after robbing a convenience store. The St. Louis suburb has been plagued by violent demonstrations since the Aug. 9 shooting. Hundreds of people, including individuals police call “outside agitators,” have been arrested in nearly continuous protests since Brown’s death.

The politically correct lie that a helpless 6’4″ 292-lbs. Brown was shot in cold blood, arms raised while attempting to surrender to white Wilson, instead of the less convenient truth that Brown was beating the cop while reaching for his gun, won’t die. In the minutes before the altercation with Wilson, Brown was captured on video bullying a much smaller East Indian shopkeeper during a robbery, an act that some might consider a hate crime.

Local agitators connected to the former Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) are knee-deep in the unrest in Ferguson. Missourians Organizing for Reform & Empowerment (MORE) has been active in the protests and in efforts to free jailed demonstrators so they can continue vandalizing businesses, intimidating perceived adversaries, setting fires, throwing projectiles and urine at cops, and engaging in the Left’s usual modes of so-called nonviolent protest.

The MORE front group’s executive director is longtime ACORN organizer Jeff Ordower. Ordower, a vote fraud apologist, previously ran Missouri ACORN. Under orders from ACORN’s national headquarters the Missouri chapter incorporated itself separately as MORE in December 2009.

State authorities are holding two to three meetings a week to draft plans to deal with riots should they materialize.

“We know outside groups visited us in August,” St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said. “We are expecting that different people will come in from outside the St. Louis area.”

Ferguson Mayor James Knowles said he is afraid that “the unrest is going to be far beyond the city of Ferguson” if Wilson is not indicted.

Activists say if Wilson is cleared by the grand jury, rioting will follow.

Ferguson protest leader Tef Poe told Reuters to expect “carnage” if an indictment is not handed down. “There is a lot of explosive energy.”

“If they can’t serve justice in this, the people have every right to go out and express their rage in a manner that is equal to what we have suffered,” said Ashley Yates, who co-founded Millennial Activists United. Yates, who spoke at a New York rally alongside activists from Hands Up United and the Organization for Black Struggle, was arrested last week during a demonstration in Ferguson. The rally took place in the same ballroom where Malcolm X was murdered in a hail of gunfire in 1965.

“We’re going to take our anger out on the people who have failed us, and if they are prepared to deal with that, then let them have at it,” Yates said.

Poe said that although Americans have often expected “casual revolution,” Ferguson may be “the moment when we can’t do that.”

Poe urged his fellow activists to die for the cause, browbeating what he termed the “intellectual set” who contemplate race relations but “didn’t show up and didn’t want to get shot when the teargas came out.”

“Don’t come to Ferguson if you aren’t ready to die,” Yates said. “Stay at home, as it could happen.”

“I can say this with 100 percent certainty: all three of us have had moments in the street where we realized we could die right there,” Yates said.

Answering claims that activists had encouraged rioting, Poe said, “No, you incited a riot by leaving Mike Brown’s body on the street for four and a half hours.”

More protests are expected in Ferguson over this weekend.

Activists are also demanding that Bob McCulloch, the prosecuting attorney in the case, recuse himself. They claim he is biased in favor of the police. They also want the mayor and police chief Tom Jackson to resign for supposedly mishandling the case.

Although they won’t admit it publicly, Obama administration officials are praying for the worst.

Attorney General Eric Holder has been deliberately fanning the flames of racial discontent in Ferguson. It’s good for revving up the Democrats’ political base in time for the November elections that could hand control of the U.S. Senate to Republicans.

Despite the continuing absence of any evidence whatsoever that race was a factor in the shooting of Brown, the Department of Justice has been conducting a race-baiting witch hunt aimed at the entire police force in Ferguson. It is nothing more than a taxpayer-funded Democratic Party voter registration drive disguised as a civil rights investigation. Such hoaxes are the stock in trade of the radical community organizers who run the Obama White House.

To add an aura of legitimacy to the witch hunt, the U.S. Conference of Mayors held a symposium on the events in Ferguson at Bill Clinton’s presidential library in Little Rock, Ark.

Attorney General Holder wasn’t shy about discussing the Obama administration’s rather frightening plans to use the Ferguson crisis as a pretext for bringing local police forces under greater federal control.

“The events in Ferguson reminded us that we cannot and must not allow tensions, which are present in so many neighborhoods across America, to go unresolved,” said Holder who announced his intention to resign his post two weeks ago.

Holder told participants at the conference Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Justice’s broad review of police training, techniques, and tactics ought to be expanded “to provide strong, national direction on a scale not seen since President Lyndon Johnson’s Commission on Law Enforcement nearly half a century ago.”

The Obama administration never, ever lets a crisis go to waste.

Does the administration see Iraq's Nouri al-Maliki as another Hosni Mubarak?

Over a decade ago, the U.S. conquered Iraq; its military and intelligence were on the ground for years with autonomy. In other words, U.S. influence and authority was more pronounced in Iraq than probably any other Muslim country in the world.

And yet it is in this one Muslim nation, where the U.S. had most authority, where U.S. blood and treasure were spent, that the absolute worst Islamic terrorist group—the Islamic State—was born.

Coincidence?

Or is this too related to the great “Arab Spring” failures of the Obama administration?

Consider: Obama was repeatedly warned that withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq would lead to something exactly like the Islamic State—with all the atrocities that have become synonymous with that name.

Indeed, arguing against early troop withdrawal, Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, once made the following now prophetic remarks:

To begin withdrawing before our commanders tell us we are ready would be dangerous for Iraq, for the region and for the United States.

It would mean surrendering the future of Iraq to Al Qaeda.

It would mean that we’d be risking mass killings on a horrific scale.

It would mean we allow the terrorists to establish a safe haven in Iraq to replace the one they lost in Afghanistan.

It would mean we’d be increasing the probability that American troops would have to return at some later date to confront an enemy that is even more dangerous.

The point here is not to “side” with Bush—the idea of transporting “democracy” to an Islamic country was ill-conceived from the start—but rather to demonstrate that Obama was thoroughly warned what troop withdrawal would lead to: the Islamic State. The same U.S. military and intelligence sources that allowed Bush to make that prescient statement also shared their assessments with Obama.

Yet Obama withdrew anyway. In December 2011, Obama declared the Iraq war a success and pulled out American troops. And, to the eyes of most Americans, things were relatively quiet—until, of course, the world heard that a head-chopping, infidel-crucifying, mass-murdering “caliphate” had “suddenly” arisen.

Was Iraq also part of the euphoria of the Obama-endorsed “Arab Spring”?

Recall that final troop withdrawal from Iraq occurred at the height of the Arab Spring when the Obama administration was simultaneously betraying key U.S. allies in the Islamic world such as Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak.

If the U.S. was not going to stand by its former “secular strongmen,” but instead was willing to hold hands with their traditional enemies, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists, why should it have supported Iraq’s Nouri Maliki?

After all, the narrative adopted by the Obama administration was that the Arab people were breaking the bonds of authoritarianism, and the U.S. administration was supporting their efforts, most notably by turning its back on longtime allies in the name of “democracy.”

And surely Maliki was seen as the greatest of all “U.S. puppets,” a divisive figure that stood in the way of the Sunni Spring?

Despite the narrative that Maliki was for complete troop withdrawal, “it’s well-established that behind closed doors, he [Maliki] was interested in a substantial U.S. presence.” Indeed, the New York Times reported that Joe Biden had said that “Maliki wants us to stick around because he does not see a future in Iraq otherwise.”

More specifically, in a 2012 debate with Mitt Romney, Obama decried the presence of any American forces in Iraq (video here), adding that

You’ve got to be clear, both to our allies and our enemies, about where you stand and what you mean. Now, you [Romney] just gave a speech a few weeks ago in which you said we should still have troops in Iraq. That is not a recipe for making sure that we are taking advantage of the opportunities and meeting the challenges of the Middle East.

What do Obama’s assertions mean?

Was Obama being “clear, both to our allies”—the Sunni Islamists whom he allied with during the Arab Spring—“and our enemies”—the Arab autocrats who stood in their way?

Was Obama showing both groups “where you [U.S. president] stand and what you mean”?

Was troop withdrawal Obama’s way of “taking advantage of the opportunities”—riding the Arab Spring wave—“and meeting the challenges of the Middle East”—winning Muslim hearts and minds by abandoning autocrats?

Here, then, is another perspective on the rise of the Sunni Islamic State in Iraq—one closely connected to the many other Arab Spring failures of the Obama administration.

Protests kick off against the pro-terrorist opera, "The Death of Klinghoffer."

Leon Klinghoffer’s daughters Lisa and Ilsa Klinghoffer say that the play The Death of Klinghoffer, which premiers Monday evening at Lincoln Center, is unacceptable, stating, “We are outraged at the exploitation of our parents and the coldblooded murder of our father as the centerpiece of a production that appears to us to be anti-Semitic.” Countless media outlets, including The New York Daily News, noted that The Death of Klinghoffer has been “reviled as anti-Semitic and horribly sympathetic to the killers.”

Daniel Pearl’s father, in a letter that will be read at the protests Monday outside of Lincoln Center, notes that the Met is wrong to air this play. The letter reads in part as follows:

In joining you today to protest the New York Metropolitan Opera production of this opera, I echo the silenced voice of my son, Daniel Pearl, and the silenced voices of other victims of terror, including James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and including thousands of men, women and children who were murdered, maimed or left heartbroken by the new menace of our generation, a menace that the Met has decided to accept and orchestrate as just another activity of normative civilized society, just another phenomenon worthy of artistic expression. They tell us that the composer tried to “understand the hijackers, their motivations, and their grievances.”

I submit to you that there has never been a crime in human history lacking grievance and motivation. The 9/11 lunatics had profound motivations, and the murderers of my son, Daniel Pearl, had very compelling “grievances.” In the past few weeks we have seen with our own eyes that Hamas and ISIS have grievances, too and, they, too, are lining up for operatic productions with the Met.

Yet civilized society, from the time of our caveman ancestors, has learned to protect itself by codifying right from wrong, separating the holy from the profane, distinguishing that which deserves the sound of orchestras from that which deserves our unconditional revulsion. The Met has smeared this distinction and thus betrayed their contract with society. I submit to you that choreographing an operatic drama around criminal pathology is not an artistic prerogative, but a blatant betrayal of public trust.

We do not stage operas for rapists and child molesters, and we do not compose symphonies for penetrating the minds of ISIS executioners. What we are seeing here in New York today is not an artistic expression that challenges the limits of morality, but a moral deformity that challenges the limits of the art. This opera is not about the mentality of deranged terrorists, but about the judgment of our arts directors. The New York Met has squandered humanity’s greatest treasure — our moral compass, our sense of right and wrong, and, most sadly, our reverence for music as a noble expression of the human spirit. We might be able some day to forgive the Met for de-criminalizing brutal minds, but we will never forgive them for poisoning our music — for turning our best violins and our iconic concert halls into mega-phones for excusing evil.”

Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which describes itself as “the nation’s premier civil rights/human relations agency,” has rubber-stamped the Met’s airing of this anti-Semitic opera. While The Death of Klinghoffer includes libels that Jews get fat from the poor and chea, and has countless anti-Semitic themes, the ADL has cited “artistic freedoms” in approving the Metropolitan Opera’s decision to feature the anti-Semitic opera. Shame on the ADL – they are wrong.

On the side of truth and justice: the Klinghoffer family, Daniel Pearl’s family, terror victims, countless Jewish organizations (including the Simon Wiesenthal Center), the former United States Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Former NY Governor George Pataki, numerous other religious organizations and a slew of others oppose the play and will protest outside on Monday. Rabbi Avi Weiss will lead a morning prayer vigil where participants will raise a voice of outrage against this play which celebrates terrorist murders. They will have a wheelchair to illustrate the plight of Klinghoffer, an American World War II veteran who was killed by terrorists of the Palestine Liberation Front (PFLF).

I live across the street from Lincoln Center – it’s despicable and horrible that the Lincoln Center allows the show to go on. Terrorists kill Americans – and that is not art.

The Metropolitan Opera is romanticizing murder and terrorism.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s trip to New York next week will be a welcome relief for the Iranian leader. Finally, he’ll be somewhere where he’s appreciated, even loved.

Ahead of his trip to America, the US media continued its practice of presenting Rouhani as a moderate, and a natural ally for the US.

NBC News’ Anne Curry interviewed Rouhani in Tehran, focusing her attention on his dim view of Islamic State.

Rouhani told Curry, “From the viewpoint of the Islamic tenets and culture, killing an innocent people equals the killing of the whole humanity. And therefore, the killing and beheading of innocent people in fact is a matter of shame for them and it’s the matter of concern and sorrow for all the human and all the mankind.”

The US media and political establishment’s willingness to take Rouhani at his word when he says that he’s a moderate is one of the reasons that Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz was in such a desolate mood on Wednesday.

During a briefing with the foreign media, Steinitz described the state of negotiations between the US and its negotiating partners – Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany – and Iran regarding its illicit nuclear weapons program.

The briefing followed the latest round of the biennial Israeli-US strategic dialogue. Steinitz led the Israeli delegation to the talks, which focused on Iran, the week before nuclear talks were scheduled to be renewed.

One of Steinitz’s chief concerns was the US’s insistence that Rouhani is a moderate.

In his words, “The only thing that has changed [since Rouhani replaced president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad] is the tone. The only difference is that the world was unwilling to hear from Ahmadinejad and [his nuclear negotiator Saeed] Jalili, what it is willing to listen to from Rouhani and [Iranian Foreign Minister Javad] Zarif.”

Unlike the Americans, the Iranian people are through with the fiction that Rouhani is a moderate, which is why he no doubt will be happier in New York than in Tehran.

Rouhani’s trip to New York coincides with his one-year anniversary in office. Since he took power, a thousand Iranians have been executed by the regime.

Forty-five people were executed in just the past two weeks.

According to Iranian scholar Majid Rafizadeh, the public’s tolerance for regime violence has reached a breaking point.

In an article in the Frontpage Magazine online journal, Rafizadeh described how 3,000 people descended on regime executioners as they were poised to kill a youth in Mahmoudabad in northern Iran. The protest forced them to call off the show.

They murdered the young man the next day, when no one was looking.

As Iran scholar Dr. Michael Ledeen has explained, the rise in regime brutality is directly proportional to the threat it perceives from the public.

And the regime has good reason to be worried.

Anti-regime protests and strikes occur countrywide, every day.

For instance, from September 9-14, MEK, an Iranian opposition group, documented public protests against security forces and attacks on regime agents in Tehran, Zanzan, Bane, Qom, Karaj and Bandar Abbas.

These actions ran the gamut from a strike by a thousand gas workers in the Aslaviyah gas fields who protested searches of their dormitory rooms by regime agents, to two separate assaults on military vehicles in Zanzan, to youth responding violently in cities throughout the country when regime agents tried to enforce Islamic dress codes on women and girls.

Under the same Rouhani who waxed so poetically against beheadings when speaking to an overeager NBC reporter, not only have state executions have massively intensified. Public floggings, public hand amputations and other public demonstrations of regime brutality have also expanded to levels unseen in recent years.

Rouhani promised to protect women’s rights. Yet since he took office, women’s rights have been severely curtailed.

Last month, the Revolutionary Guards barred women from working as waitresses. In July, Tehran’s mayor barred women from sharing workspace with men. These moves and others like them, aimed at enforcing gender apartheid in all public places in the country, force millions of women into poverty. The official unemployment level for women is already hovering around 20 percent.

Then there are Iran’s other social ills, for instance drug addiction.

Iran has the highest level of drug addiction in the world. According to Babak Dinparast, a senior Iranian drug enforcement official, some 3.5 million Iranians, or 4.4% of the population, are drug users.

In April, Dinparast made the stunning claim that 53% of drug users are government employees.

According to the Iranian parliament’s research institute, the average productive hours of Iranian workers is 22 minutes a day.

In Transparency International’s ranking of administrative and economic corruption, Iran ranks 144th out of 177 countries.

In other words, Iran is coming apart at the seams. The people cannot stand the regime. The regime, incompetent and unwilling to tackle any of Iran’s problems, responds to the public’s outrage with massive, brutal repression.

If left to its own devices, in all likelihood, the Iranian regime would have been toppled five years ago when it falsified the results of the 2009 presidential elections, and so fomented the Green Revolution But the people of Iran didn’t bet on the regime’s ace in the hole: the Obama administration.

The same Obama administration that supported the overthrow of US allies in the war on Islamic jihad – Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi – stood by the Iranian regime as it massacred its people in the streets of Iranian cities for daring to demand their freedom.

If the 2009 Green Revolution was the gravest threat the regime had faced since the 1979 revolution brought it to power, today the regime is also imperiled.

On Monday, Iran’s dictator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was released from the hospital after undergoing prostate surgery. Several strategic analyses published since then claim that his days are numbered and that as a consequence, the regime faces a period of profound uncertainty and instability.

The Iranian people are watching all of this, and waiting.

As was the case in 2009, the disaffected Iranians, who hate their regime and want good relations with the US and the West, remain the greatest threat to the regime.

Beyond its borders, Iran is also under stress. With its Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah forces committed to Syria in defense of Bashar Assad, Iran finds its position in Iraq threatened by the rising power of Islamic State.

Yet, as happened in 2009, in the midst of this gathering storm, the Obama administration is rushing to the mullahs’ rescue, begging Iran to support US efforts to fight Islamic State, indeed claiming that securing Iran’s support and cooperation is a necessary precondition for the mission’s success.

To say that this US policy is madness is an understatement.

As Michael Weiss documented in Foreign Policy in June, Iran and its puppet, the Syrian regime, played central roles in facilitating the development and empowerment of Islamic State both in Syria and Iraq. A defector from the Syrian Military Intelligence Directorate reported in January that the regime helped form Islamic State.

First, it sprang Sunni jihadist leaders from Sednaya prison in 2011. Then, it facilitated in the creation of the armed brigades that became Islamic State.

The idea was that through Islamic State, it could tarnish the reputation of all of its opponents by claiming they were all jihadists.

US military officers with deep knowledge of Iran’s role in Iraq told Weiss that Islamic State’s leadership entered Iraq from Iran.

A key al-Qaida financier, Olimzhon Adkhamovich Sadikov, was charged in February by the US Treasury Department with “provid[ing] logistical support and funding to al-Qaida’s Iran-based network.”

US Army Col. Rick Welch, who served as the military liaison to both the Sunni tribes and the Shi’ite militia in Iraq during the 2007-2008 US military surge, told Weiss that the assessment of Iraqi Sunnis and Shi’ites alike was that “Iran was funding any group that would keep Iraq in chaos.”

Iran sought chaos in order to prevent the establishment of a stable Iraqi government allied with the US while incrementally establishing Iranian control over the country.

Iran’s actions in Iraq and Syria, in other words, have for the past decade been focused on expanding Iranian power at the expense of the US and the Iraqi and Syrian people.

This behavior of course is in line with Iran’s global strategy. From its support for Hamas to its control over Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad, from developing a strategic alliance with Venezuela to expanding its presence throughout South and Central America, through its closely cultivated relationship with Russia, Iran’s every move involves expanding its power and influence at America’s expense.

And yet, despite this, the Obama administration has made strengthening the Iranian regime and appeasing it the centerpiece of its Middle East policy.

President Barack Obama told Jeffrey Goldberg in March that Iran is a rational actor that the US can do business with.

He said, “If you look at Iranian behavior, they are strategic, and they’re not impulsive. They have a worldview, and they see their interests, and they respond to costs and benefits.”

As Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry now perceive things, Iran opposes Islamic State, and therefore it will play a supportive role in the US campaign against Islamic State. Moreover, by participating in the campaign, Iran will demonstrate its good faith and so make it possible for the US to cut a deal with the mullahs that will legitimize their illicit uranium enrichment – because really, how big a threat can a country that opposes Islamic State be? As for Iran, it sees its interest as having the US destroy Islamic State, and if possible, having the US pay Iran for the privilege of fighting Iran’s war – against the foe Iran did so much to create.

And this brings us back to Steinitz’s gloomy assessment of the talks with Iran. Steinitz warned against the growing prospect of the US caving in to Iran’s nuclear demands as a payoff for Iranian support against Islamic State.

In his words, “Some people might think, ‘Let’s clean the table, let’s close the [nuclear] file,” in order to get Iran on board against Islamic State.

Unfortunately for Steinitz, and for the rest of the world, including the US, the Obama administration seems bent on proving him right.

Today the Iranian regime is weaker than it has been since it violently repressed the Green Revolution.

And that is why Rouhani is happy to be coming to New York.

He knows that now, as then, the Obama administration will save the regime. This, even as the mullahs advance their goal of becoming the hegemons of the Middle East at the US’s expense, and completing their nuclear weapons program, which will secure the regime for decades to come, and threaten America directly.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali triumphs over campus hate groups.

The William F. Buckley Program at Yale University lately showed bravery unusual for an academic institution. It has refused to be bullied by the Muslim Students Association and its demand that the Buckley Program rescind an invitation to Ayaan Hirsi Ali to speak on campus September 15. Hirsi Ali is the vocal Somalian critic of Islamic doctrine whose life has been endangered for condemning the theologically sanctioned oppression of women in Islamic culture. Unlike Brandeis University, which recently rescinded an honorary degree to be given to Hirsi Ali after complaints from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Buckley Program rejected both the MSA’s initial demand, and a follow up one that Hirsi Ali share the stage with one of her critics.

The Buckley Program is a rare instance of an academic organization staying true to the ideals of free speech, academic freedom, and the “free play of the mind on all subjects,” as Matthew Arnold defined liberal education. Most of our best universities have sacrificed these ideals on the altar of political correctness and identity politics. Anything that displeases or discomforts campus special interest groups––mainly those predicated on being the alleged victims of American oppression–– must be proscribed as “slurs” or “hateful,” even if what’s said is factually true. No matter that these groups are ideologically driven and use their power to silence critics and limit speech to their own self-serving and duplicitous views, the modus operandi of every illiberal totalitarian regime in history. The spineless university caves in to their demands, incoherently camouflaging their craven betrayal of the First Amendment and academic freedom as “tolerance” and “respect for diversity.”

In the case of Islam, however, this betrayal is particularly dangerous. For we are confronting across the world a jihadist movement that grounds its violence in traditional Islamic theology, jurisprudence, and history. Ignoring those motives and their sanction by Islamic doctrine compromises our strategy and tactics in defeating the jihadists, for we cripple ourselves in the war of ideas. Worse yet, Islamic triumphalism and chauvinism–– embodied in the Koranic verse that calls Muslims “the best of nations raised up for the benefit of men” because they “enjoin the right and forbid the wrong and believe in Allah”–– is confirmed and strengthened by the way our elite institutions like universities and the federal government quickly capitulate to special interest groups who demand that we endorse only their sanitized and often false picture of Islam. Such surrender confirms the jihadist estimation of the West as the “weak horse,” as bin Laden said, a civilization with “foundations of straw” whose wealth and military power are undermined by a collective failure of nerve and loss of morale.

This process of exploiting the moral degeneration of the West has been going on now for 25 years. It begins, as does the rise of modern jihadism, with the Ayatollah Khomeini and the Iranian Islamic revolution. The key event took place in February 1989, when Khomeini issued a fatwa, based on Koran 9.61, against Indian novelist Salman Rushdie for his novel The Satanic Verses, which was deemed “against Islam, the Prophet, and the Koran,” as Khomeini said. Across the world enraged Muslims rioted and bombed bookstores, leaving over 20 people dead. More significant in the long run was the despicable reaction of many in the West to this outrage against freedom of speech and the rule of law, perpetrated by the most important and revered political and religious leader of a major Islamic nation.

Abandoning their principles, bookstores refused to stock the novel, and publishers delayed or canceled editions. Muslims in Western countries publicly burned copies of Rushdie’s novel and encouraged his murder with impunity. Eminent British historian Hugh Trevor-Roper suggested Rushdie deserved such treatment. Thirteen British Muslim barristers filed a formal complaint against the author. In their initial reactions, Western government officials were hesitant and timorous. The U.S. embassy in Pakistan eagerly assured Muslims that “the U.S. government in no way supports or associates itself with any activity that is in any sense offensive or insulting to Islam.”

Khomeini’s fatwa and the subsequent violent reaction created what Daniel Pipes calls the “Rushdie rules,” a speech code that privileges Islam over revered Western traditions of free speech that still are operative in the case of all other religions. Muslims now will determine what counts as an “insult” or a “slur,” and their displeasure, threats, and violence will police those definitions and punish offenders. Even reporting simple facts of history or Islamic doctrine can be deemed an offense and bring down retribution on violators. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, for example, earned the wrath of Muslims in part for her contribution to Theo van Gogh’s film Submission, which projected Koranic verses regarding women on the bodies of abused women. Van Gogh, of course, was brutally murdered in the streets of Amsterdam. And this is the most important dimension of the “Rushdie rules”: violence will follow any violation of whatever some Muslims deem to be “insulting” to Islam, even facts. In effect, Western law has been trumped by the shari’a ban on blaspheming Islam, a crime punishable by death.

The result is the sorry spectacle of groveling and apology we see almost daily from our government, the entertainment industry, and worse yet, universities. Trivial slights and offenses that civilized nations leave to the market place of ideas to sort out are elevated into “slurs” and “hate speech” if some Muslim organization deems them so. A reflexive self-censorship has arisen in American society, one based on fear of violent retribution or bad publicity harmful to profits and careers.

Thus the government officially proscribes words like “jihad” or “Muslim terrorist” from its documents and training materials in order to avoid offending Muslims. Similarly the Muslim terrorist, a fixture in recent history since the PLO started highjacking airliners in the 60s, has nearly disappeared from television and movies, replaced by Russians, white supremacists, and brainwashed Americans. And when a Muslim terrorist does appear, his motivations and violence are rationalized as the understandable response to the grievous offenses against his faith and people committed by the U.S. and Israel. Islam is airbrushed from the plot, as in the recent series Tyrant, a dramatization of a fictional Arab Muslim state that somehow manages to ignore Islam as a political force. More seriously, universities disinvite speakers at the faintest hint of protest from Muslim organizations, even as they accept Gulf-state petrodollars to create “Middle East Studies” programs that frequently function as apologists and enablers of terrorist violence.

“Free men have free tongues,” as the Athenian tragedian Sophocles said. One of the pillars of political freedom is free speech. When the ability to speak freely in the public square is extended beyond an elite to a large variety of people with clashing views and ideals, speech necessarily becomes rough and uncivil. Feelings get hurt, passions are aroused, and language becomes coarse and abusive. That’s the price we pay for letting a lot of people speak their minds, and for creating a process in which truth and good ideas can emerge from all this rambunctious, divisive conversation. But when we carve out a special niche for one group, provide it with its own rules, and protect it even from statements of uncomfortable facts, then we compromise that foundational right to have our say without any retribution other than a counterargument. So three cheers for the Buckley Program. It has stood up against intimidation and defended one of our most important and precious freedoms.

What's holding America back from preventing the next Ferguson.

Last week, as riots in Ferguson, Missouri decrescendoed and the country held its collective breath over the question of the indictment of Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, rappers Diddy (formerly P. Diddy, formerly Puff Daddy, formerly Sean Combs), 2 Chainz, The Game, and Rick Ross, along with 10 of their fellows, released a song: “Don’t Shoot.”

The Game explained why he felt the necessity to record the song: “I am a black man with kids of my own that I love more than anything, and I cannot fathom a horrific tragedy like Michael Brown’s happening to them. This possibility has shaken me to my core.”

The lyrics of the song speak to a perverse view of race in America — a view reinforced day after day by a media dedicated to the proposition that American law enforcement maliciously targets black men at random. To this point, nobody knows the facts of the case in the Brown shooting. Nonetheless, the rappers label the shooting cold-blooded, first-degree murder. Because facts are unnecessary; only feelings are real. “God ain’t put us on the Earth to get murdered, it’s murder,” says one rapper, TGT. Another, The Game, raps, “They killin’ teens, they killin’ dreams, it’s murder.”

Next, Diddy launches into a listing of various black men killed under controversial circumstances. Some, like Emmett Till, were murdered in acts of pure and evil racism. But Diddy lumps together Till with Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown — and even Ezell Ford. Last week, the Los Angeles Police Department released the identities of the two police officers who shot Ford. One was Asian; the other was Hispanic. The Huffington Post did not even cover their races. The Los Angeles Times buried that relevant fact in paragraph 13 of their comprehensive story. But again, facts do not matter: Only a feeling of persecution matters.

Then Rick Ross sums up the generalized view of America created by media-stoked racial conflagrations like the Michael Brown situation: “Black men, we pay the toll, the price is your life, Uncle Sam want a slice, black dress code now we looting in the night, now we throwing Molotovs in this Holocaust.” A grand total of just under 100 young black men are killed by white police officers each year, according to statistics provided to the FBI by local police.

To compare police treatment of young black men to the Holocaust is not only statistically idiotic, but also morally dangerous.

Nonetheless, that is the view of police for many blacks: police as paramilitary white force out to target black men. When I was recently in the CNN green room with former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones, he and I got to talking about the Ferguson situation. I asked him why he believed there was such a racial gap in the interpretation of the situation. His answer: “You’re Jewish, right? Wouldn’t you jump to conclusions if you heard that the Nazis or Hamas had killed a Jew?”

Of course, not even Van Jones, Diddy, 2 Chainz, and the rest truly believe what they say about the police. All those who spout about a “Holocaust” by police against blacks would call 911 in approximately 3.5 seconds if their houses were robbed. But if we truly believe that America’s police forces are akin to Nazis or Islamic terrorists, there can be no decent solution. Fighting police would be a moral imperative, not a moral evil.

And therein lies the problem. The only real answer to the antipathy between large segments of the black community and police is threefold: first, taking seriously fact-based allegations of racism against the authorities, and investigating and prosecuting such allegations if well-founded; second, not jumping to conclusions about non-fact-based allegations; and third, lowering crime rates among young black men, thereby lowering interactions between police and young black men.

But those are not solutions backed by the racially delusional. Instead, they suggest an unending and circular “conversation” about race that goes something like this: Police sometimes shoot young black men; that’s because police are racist; therefore, those who resist police are not morally unjustified; rinse, wash, repeat.

Sadly, America’s media backs this second approach. And so we end up with damaging foolishness like “Don’t Shoot” infusing our pop culture and the snarky but empty-headed racial guilting of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert invading our news. And nothing gets solved. We just get more hate, more rage and more violence.

Eric holder plays radical politics with a powder keg in Missouri.

As mass hysteria over the fatal shooting of a Ferguson, Missouri resident Michael Brown grips the progressive movement, President Obama is sending the most divisive, corrupt race-baiter in his cabinet to the riot-torn St. Louis suburb where the suspect died.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who has single-mindedly focused on converting the Department of Justice into a racial grievance incubator, is scheduled to visit Ferguson, Mo., today in an appearance billed as an attempt to restore calm to a community that has erupted in almost daily violence since Brown, a young black man, was shot Aug. 9 by a police officer. Left-wingers who believe as an article of faith that America is racist insist, despite the growing body of exculpatory evidence, that Brown was murdered by a white policeman. They will not be dissuaded no matter how much proof accumulates that the officer fired on Brown because he believed his life was in danger.

The visit comes as the Left’s narrative that the nearly 300-lbs. Brown, who had just robbed a convenience store minutes before encountering decorated policeman Darren Wilson, was an innocent gentle giant trying to surrender, unravels more and more each day. More witnesses are coming forward to identify Brown as the aggressor in a vicious attack on Wilson in which he tried to grab the gun of the six-year veteran of the Ferguson police force and inflicted head injuries so severe that the officer may lose an eye.

Yet the belief that Brown is the real victim remains strong in many circles.

Inane commentary is being churned out by hopelessly affective left-wingers at an impressive clip. For example, leftist lawyer Michelle D. Bernard told the under-medicated Chris Matthews of MSNBC that in 2014 — when the U.S. has a black president, black attorney general, black billionaires, and black professionals in probably every field of human endeavor — legions of Americans still hate black males.

“I don’t have an answer that is palatable to be able to look my children in the face and say there are people in this country who– not only do not like African-Americans, but they despise black men,” Bernard said.

“There is a war on black boys in this country. In my opinion, there is a war on African-American men … it’s going to turn into a genocide if it doesn’t stop,” she said, echoing recent comments from perpetually offended movie director Spike Lee.

Holder, by the way, reportedly received the findings of the third autopsy yesterday, that is, the superfluous one ordered by the feds after the county autopsy and the family’s private autopsy. Although the results from the federal autopsy were not publicly available at press time, if memory serves, other high-profile individuals who died of gunshots such as Trayvon Martin, Martin Luther King Jr., and President John F. Kennedy, were autopsied only once.

So it is hard not to be suspicious of Holder’s motives in requiring that extra postmortem dissection. Keep examining the body over and over again until you find what you want. Just like in close elections. Keep counting the votes over and over again until you win. (See, Al Franken, who succeeded, and Al Gore, who failed.)

But as is always the case with Obama, the lawless attorney general’s visit is a ruse. Holder, who faces possible impeachment over contempt of Congress charges, will bring a planeload of rhetorical dynamite with him to make sure that the civil unrest continues. It is his job, as he sees it, to rile up people.

A far-left self-described “activist,” Holder, like Obama, has an uncanny ability to know exactly what to do to make a situation worse, or as Rules for Radical author Saul Alinsky put it so vividly, to rub raw the sores of discontent. In exacerbating racial tensions and ramping up civil unrest, Holder is truly a virtuoso.

“Any attorney general who is not an activist is not doing his or her job,” Holder pontificates, ignoring the long-recognized fact that an attorney general is supposed to enforce the law, not fundamentally transform the nation.

“The responsibility of the attorney general is to change things [and] bring us closer to the ideals expressed in our founding documents,” he says, again deliberately misrepresenting the purpose of his high office.

When critics decry his Department of Justice for containing an “activist civil rights division and this is an activist attorney general — I’d say I agree with you 1,000 percent and [I am] proud of it,” Holder said.

As I wrote recently, Holder is the consigliere for today’s Democrats and their culture of corruption. As a journalist friend of mine likes to remind me, Obama keeps the scandal-prone Holder on because the man “knows where all the bodies are buried.”

How do we know that with the Ferguson whistle stop Holder is, as usual, up to no good?

First, because Eric Holder is constitutionally incapable of calming things down, and second, because the signs of a well-crafted con job are there.

The goal is to polarize and enrage and foment even more racial tension and violence to distract from Obama’s seemingly endless political problems, as well as to energize the Democratic Party’s base so they vote in droves in November. Democrats who aren’t in denial are now deathly afraid of the electoral tsunami approaching that seems increasingly likely to leave Republicans in control of both houses of Congress. A GOP recapture of the Senate no longer looks dicey; the only question is how big a majority Republicans will have in that dusty old chamber where good conservative ideas go to die.

This week Holder and Obama’s Chicagoland enforcer Valerie Jarrett reportedly talked to representatives of what one news article termed “civic groups.” They bragged about the hundreds of interviews they have forced scores of FBI agents to conduct in Ferguson in a desperate attempt to bolster the bad-white-cop-murdered-good-black-kid theory.

Among the left-wing activist organizations included on the conference call were the odious National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). This fact tells you more or less all you need to know about Holder’s intentions.

Undoubtedly the usual crew of bad people who hate America, the very worst of the radical left-wing community organizing outfits, also participated in the call. This is the clandestine way the Obama White House has operated since the very beginning. It is more an exercise in conspiracy coordination than in allied group relations.

Apart from the FBI whose agents have been forced to scour Ferguson in search of evidence of imagined civil rights law violations, these groups are connected, if not already actively collaborating, with the criminals doing their best to burn Ferguson to the ground for its supposed sins.

The people on the ground in Ferguson right now, the “outside agitators” as a police chief called them, are out there waving protest signs, attacking cops, throwing Molotov cocktails, and looting stores. Some of them were part of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Others are from the New Black Panther Party that Holder holds in such great esteem that he dropped a case against party members who intimidated voters in Philadelphia in 2008. These insurrectionists have been streaming in from Marxist and other extremist groups in Chicago and beyond. Racial arsonists Jesse Jackson Sr. and Al Sharpton are there too, making sure they get their cut of the action.

Make no mistake: they are Obama’s kith and kin. If Obama still had a job at the Gamaliel Foundation or the now-defunct ACORN or any of a number of in-your-face activist groups, he would likely be there right now, knee deep in the blood-covered streets of Ferguson, keeping his radical comrades-in-arms in line, and helping them figure out how to make local residents howl for change.

His goal now, as it was then, is to fundamentally transform the United States of America. As Michelle Obama has said, “Barack is not a politician first and foremost. He’s a community activist exploring the viability of politics to make change.”

For now Obama won’t be visiting Ferguson, according to the White House, but that doesn’t mean he’s not pulling the strings. Holder will be his trusted emissary.

In fact Holder’s minions are already on the ground in Ferguson right now causing trouble. News reports indicate that government-employed community organizers are on-site. These outside agitators work for the Community Relations Service (CRS), an office within the Justice Department.

We know what they do. Judicial Watch previously released DoJ documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act showing that the community disorganizers of the CRS were dispatched two years ago to Sanford, Fla., after Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old black man, was killed during a physical confrontation with community crime watch volunteer George Zimmerman. For a month and a half after Martin’s death, local police declined to press charges against Zimmerman, who was ultimately acquitted of murder, because they believed quite correctly that the criminal case against him was weak.

In the weeks before Zimmerman was charged, CRS expended thousands of dollars to help organize marches in which participants exacerbated racial tensions and loudly demanded that he be prosecuted.

As Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said previously, “These documents detail the extraordinary intervention by the Justice Department in the pressure campaign leading to the prosecution of George Zimmerman. My guess is that most Americans would rightly object to taxpayers paying government employees to help organize racially-charged demonstrations.”

CRS employees, according to that document dump, were involved in “marches, demonstrations, and rallies related to the shooting and death of an African-American teen by a neighborhood watch captain”; providing “support for protest deployment in Florida”; rendering “technical assistance to the City of Sanford, event organizers, and law enforcement agencies for the march and rally on March 31”; and providing “technical assistance, conciliation, and onsite mediation during demonstrations planned in Sanford.”

In April 2012, CRS “set up a meeting between the local NAACP and elected officials that led to the temporary resignation of police chief Bill Lee according to Turner Clayton, Seminole County chapter president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People,” one of the documents revealed.

We may have to wait a while to find out exactly what the CRS stormtroopers are doing in Ferguson.

Meanwhile, the identity politics and cop-hatred that infect the legal system in the St. Louis area have set in motion some race-related intra-party warfare that could turn nasty.

White Democrats want the county’s elected Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch, a Caucasian Democrat who has held the position since 1991, to oversee the case. McCulloch easily secured the Democratic nomination for his office in a primary election four days before Brown was killed. In that contest, he handily beat former state public defender Leslie T. Broadnax, a black woman, by a margin of 71.4 percent to 28.6 percent.

Gov. Jay Nixon, a white Democrat, supports McCulloch whom he called “an experienced prosecutor.” The governor said “this is his opportunity to step up.”

Black Democrats who have taken a public stand on whether McCulloch should have carriage of the case don’t seem to care that the voters of the county have repeatedly put the man in charge of local criminal prosecutions. These political operatives want him off the case, perhaps because they feel he can’t be expected to toe the radical line because he’s not black. Justice, according to Critical Race Theory, is never color-blind.

They say McCulloch, who comes from a family of police officers, should not be handling the prosecution because in their view he is too close to the police. His father, a police officer, was fatally shot in the line of duty by a black man when McCulloch was 12 years old.

St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley, a black Democrat, has asked Missouri Attorney General Jay Koster, a white Democrat, to appoint a special prosecutor to replace McCulloch. Koster says state law does not allow him to do so. Dooley has an obvious axe to grind. Just last week he lost the Democratic nod for his post to Steve Senger, a white county council member who was heavily backed by McCulloch.

Other local elected Democrats say they don’t trust McCulloch. U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay Jr. (D-Mo.) and state senators Jamilah Nasheed and Maria Chappelle-Nadal all wanted McCulloch ousted from the case. All three are black.

Chappelle-Nadal is the state lawmaker who tweeted “fuck you” to Gov. Nixon last week week saying it was justified because she was injured while protesting the death of Brown in Ferguson. She blames the governor who has ordered the state highway patrol to police Ferguson.

“The reason why I used profane language is because he has allowed us to get tear-gassed for three days,” she told Fox News. “I am one of his senators in his party, and he was at the state fair enjoying a country concert while we were getting teargassed and shot at. And yes, anyone who’s going to get tear-gassed deserves to say a few f-bombs here and there.”

State Senator Jamilah Nasheed, a black Democrat, created an online petition at MoveOn’s website calling on McCulloch to “fully recuse himself and his office from the investigation related to the murder [sic] of Michael Brown.” It urges McCulloch to appoint a special prosecutor to carry out the investigation.

According to the petition, which had 58,000 signatures at press time, the fact that McCulloch opted not to pursue police officers who killed –the petition says “murdered”– “two unarmed African-American men in 2000″ after an independent probe found the officers lied about what they did, ought to disqualify him from overseeing the case.

“That failure, coupled, with McCulloch’s recent participation in one of the most racially polarizing elections in the history of St. Louis County, means that his office’s continued oversight of this tragedy will only sow further distrust and discord in our community.”

The men who were shot a decade and a half ago were suspected drug dealers. A federal investigation found the officers were justified in shooting because they felt endangered.

Nasheed trashed McCulloch on CNN. In her view, McCulloch “doesn’t have the fortitude to do the right thing when it comes to prosecuting police officers.”

The rest of the Democrats’ local lynch mob also refuses to wait any longer.

Wilson “should be charged and arrested,” said Patricia Bynes, the Democratic Party committeewoman who represents Ferguson Township. “It’s been over a week now,”

Evidence about the shooting of Michael Brown is scheduled to go to a St. Louis County Circuit Court grand jury starting today, according to Ed Magee, spokesman for McCulloch. Magee said his boss will not present the case in the grand jury proceeding.

“It will be handled by the attorney regularly assigned to the grand jury. It will not be by Mr. McCulloch.”

Brown’s funeral has been scheduled for Monday.

“It’s going to be public and it’s going to be supported by national leaders,” Brown family lawyer Anthony Gray told the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

In other words, the memorial service appears destined to become a grotesque political rally.

How could this not be the case in a town where ghoulish political operatives have already set up a voter registration tent at the site where Brown died?

Why it's vital that Israel reassess its relationship with Western countries.

Originally published by the Jerusalem Post.

Outside the US, throughout the Western world, anti-Semitism is becoming a powerful social and political force. And its power is beginning to have a significant impact on Israel’s relations with other democracies.

Consider South Africa. Following a lopsided vote by the University of Cape Town’s Student Union to boycott Israel, Jewish students fear that their own student union will be barred from operating on campus. Carla Frumer from the South African Jewish Student Union told The Times of Israel, “If they prove we are a Zionist organization and support Israel, they can have us banned and seek to de-register us.”

In Sydney, Australia, Jewish families received a triple blow last week when Jewish children on a chartered school bus were assaulted by eight anti-Semitic drunken teenagers.

The first shock was that their children, some as young as five, were terrorized on their school bus.

The second shock was that the bus driver made an unscheduled stop to allow the anti-Semites to board the bus and harass the children.

The third shock was that after catching six of the eight assailants, the police let them out of jail the same evening.

Taken together, the incident revealed an obscene comfort level among Australian authorities with the terrorization of Jewish children. Jewish families cannot assume that their children will be protected by non-Jews, whether they are school bus drivers or the police.

Unfortunately, these stories do not begin to scratch the surface of the rising tide of anti-Semitism in the developed world. From Paris to San Paulo, from Berlin to Boston the public space Jews can enjoy without fear is becoming more and more limited.

The same is the case in leftist political circles.

Last week, Paul Estrin, the president of Canada’s Green Party, was forced to resign for his pro-Israel views. On July 25, Estrin posted a pro-Israel essay on the party’s website. His post caused a furor among the party faithful. The Green Party’s leader, MP Elizabeth May, distanced herself from Estrin. And almost the entire party leadership denounced him and demanded his resignation.

In an essay published this week in the Canadian Jewish News, Estrin explained that he joined the party because he wanted to make a difference in the spheres of the environmental protection and human rights. He did not believe that working to achieve these goals in the Green Party would require him to disavow his support for Israel. His recent experience showed him that he was wrong.

In his words, “I am now convinced that one simply can’t [support Israel] within the confines of Canada’s Green Party.”

Similar sentiments have been expressed in recent weeks by pro-Israel members of Britain’s Labor Party. After party leader Ed Miliband sided with the majority of the party membership and against Israel in Operation Protective Edge, Kate Bearman, the former director of Labor Friends for Israel, published an article in the Jewish Chronicle announcing that she was quitting the Labor Party.

Bearman wrote, “I feel Ed Miliband’s rush to a condemnation of Israel’s ground incursion into Gaza gave me no choice but to say goodbye to the party I have always voted and campaigned for.”

A survey of Britons taken at the end of last month by YouGov showed that 62 percent believed that Israel had committed war crimes in Gaza. This includes 72% of Labor supporters and 57% of Conservatives.

In other words, nearly two-thirds of Britons believe that Israel has no right to defend itself. And since Israel is surrounded by forces that seek its destruction, we can extrapolate that nearly two-thirds of Britons would, at a minimum, have no problem with Israel being wiped off the map.

This rising political force of anti-Semitism is already impacting previously supportive governments’ policies toward the Jewish state. Bowing to the anti-Israel positions of his Liberal-Democrat coalition partners, British Prime Minister David Cameron decided that arms exports to Israel will be suspended if Hamas continues its current round of war with Israel.

The primary engine propelling Western nation after Western nation to abandon their support for Israel and deny the protection of law to Jewish communities is the rising power of Muslim minority communities in these countries. As Douglas Murray explained in an essay published by the Gatestone Institute this week, when it comes to Israel and Jews, otherwise integrated, moderate Muslims in Europe are quick to join jihadists in denouncing Israel and rallying behind anti-Semitic curses and threats.

The unanimity of anti-Semitic prejudice among Muslim communities in the West, and its impact on the politics of Western nations, indicates that in the future, Western nations’ polities toward Israel may have more in common with the positions of Sunni Arab states than with those of the US.

Since the dawn of modern Zionism more than a century ago, Arab societies have united around the cause of destroying Zionism as a political force and Israel as a physical entity. As a result, the default position of Arab governments has been to support Israel’s destruction. They have advanced this goal through various means, including going to war against the Jewish state, supporting proxies and other irregular forces in their efforts to kill Jews and harm Israel, and using international organizations – first and foremost the United Nations – to institutionalize international anti-Semitism directed against the Jewish state and to criminalize Israel with the aim of expelling it from the international community.

In recent years, we have seen a gradual, quiet disassociation of various Sunni Arab regimes from the war against Israel as they viewed their interests as more aligned with Israel than with its battlefield foes.

The first time this occurred was during Hezbollah’s war with Israel in 2006. In the opening weeks of the war, Egypt and Saudi Arabia were demonstrably excited at the prospect of an Israeli rout of Iran’s proxy army in Lebanon. As they saw it, an Israeli victory over Hezbollah would deal a powerful blow to Iran’s hegemonic designs over the Persian Gulf and Egypt. It would end the Muslim Brotherhood’s romance with the mullahs in Tehran.

This Sunni Arab support for Israel only abated when then prime minister Ehud Olmert’s serial blundering in his leadership of the war convinced Sunni leaders that Israel would not score a strategic victory.

Over the past six weeks of Operation Protective Edge, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates have been even more open about their preference for an Israeli victory, which they view as a blow to the Muslim Brotherhood. Today these regimes feel far more threatened by the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran than they did eight years ago. Indeed, so great is their desire for an Israeli victory over the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza that they are willing to publicly express their position for the first time.

It is not that “the Arab street” in Mecca and Cairo has stopped hating Jews. It is simply that the regimes are willing to neutralize the political influence of Jew-hatred in order to ensure their survival.

In the future, such a commonality of interests may be the only way for Israel to cultivate strategic cooperation with Western nations.

All of this is greatly disturbing. But at least today, it is not Israel’s most pressing concern. The political salience of anti-Semitism in the West will have no impact on how the fighting ends.

The only players in the game today are Israel, Egypt and the Obama administration. And Israel’s problem today is not the anti-Semitism of Western societies. It is the hostility of the Obama administration.

Unlike the situation in Europe, anti-Semitism is not a significant force in the US. Due in large part to Obama administration actions, there is a growing acceptance in Washington of the false, anti-Semitic charge that Israel dictates US foreign policy.

But the US public views Israel as an ally and a fellow democracy. And as a consequence, the majority of Americans consistently support Israel and expect the US government to support Israel in its wars against Islamic terrorists and its desire to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. This general view is in turn reflected in the predominant pro-Israel positions taken by the vast majority of members of both houses of Congress.

Due to the fact that his position is out of step with the US public, Barack Obama has not been able to break openly with Israel. But behind the scenes, since the outset of Operation Protective Edge he has used his administrative powers to help Hamas and its Islamist sponsors in Turkey, Qatar and Iran to the detriment of Israel and the Sunni Arab regimes.

In other words, whereas David Cameron felt compelled by domestic political realities to turn on Israel, Obama feels compelled by domestic political realities to hide the fact that he has turned on Israel.

As The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, Obama’s latest anti-Israel action was the institution last week of an unofficial arms embargo against Israel. Ignoring standard procedures adopted over the years in accordance with the US’s strategic cooperation accords with Israel, Obama has chosen to deny the US military the power to automatically approve Israeli requests for resupply of ammunition and spare parts. All such requests must now receive specific approval from the White House.

To hide the hostile nature of his action, Obama has sought to present it as a simple reassertion of presidential control over US foreign policy – and so resonate the anti-Semitic undertones of allegations of Israeli control over US foreign policy.

In fact, Obama’s actions constitute a presidential decision to abandon his own official policy of upholding the US’s alliance with Israel.

Obama took a similar path last month with the highly discriminatory FAA flight ban on Ben-Gurion Airport. The FAA has not instituted such bans on countries like Ukraine and Pakistan where civilian passenger flights have actually been shot down. Yet, citing “an abundance of caution,” the FAA instituted a flight ban on Israel where no civilian passenger jet was endangered.

As the administration presented it, the FAA decision to directly threaten Israel’s economic viability did not derive from hostility to Israel, but from a concern for the welfare of airline passengers.

In a similar fashion, last month US Secretary of State John Kerry sought to misrepresent the administration’s adoption of Hamas’s cease-fire terms as the US’s official position. Kerry claimed that he was merely amplifying the Egyptian cease-fire agreement that the administration claimed it supported, when he was actually abandoning it.

The massive destabilization of the Arab world in the wake of the Arab Spring has led many Israelis to reevaluate our region and the opportunities and threats it presents us.

With the rise of anti-Semitism as a political force in the Western world, and with the radical shift in US foreign policy under Obama, it is vital that Israel conduct a similar reevaluation of its relations with Western democracies.
