With the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon jihad bombings now here (April 15), the New York Times made yet another attempt to exonerate the Obama Administration of responsibility for one of its manifest failures, claiming that an inspector general’s report on the bombings was an “exoneration of the F.B.I.,” as it showed that “the Russian government declined to provide the F.B.I. with information about one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects that would most likely have led to more extensive scrutiny of him at least two years before the attack.”

See? The bombing was all the fault of that scoundrel Putin. It had nothing to do with the FBI, because of fecklessness and political correctness, failing to act properly on information the Russians gave them.

Full disclosure: I used to give FBI agents and other law enforcement and military personnel training on the teachings of Islam about jihad warfare against and subjugation of non-Muslims, so that they would understand the motives and goals of those who have vowed to destroy the United States as a free society, and be better equipped to counter them. I provided this training free of charge, out of a sense of patriotic duty, and it was well received: I received certificates of appreciation from the United States Central Command and the Army’s Asymmetric Warfare Group.

But as I explain in detail in my book Arab Winter Comes to America, all that ended on October 19, 2011, when Islamic supremacist advocacy groups, many with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, demanded that FBI counter-terror trainers (including me) and training materials that referred to Islam and jihad in connection with terrorism be discarded, and agents educated by them be retrained. John Brennan, then the U.S. Homeland Security Advisor and now the director of the CIA, readily agreed in a response that was written on White House stationery – thereby emphasizing how seriously the Obama Administration took this demand.

Subsequently, as I detail in the book, politically correct willful ignorance then took hold in our intelligence and law enforcement agencies – to the extent that after the Boston Marathon bombing, then-FBI director Robert Mueller admitted that the bureau had not investigated the Islamic Society of Boston, where the Tsarnaev brothers attended mosque, and had not even visited it except as part of an “outreach” program – despite the fact that it was founded by Abdurrahman Alamoudi, who is currently in prison for financing al Qaeda, and was attended by convicted jihad terrorists such as Tarek Mehanna and Aafia Siddiqui.

Accordingly, the FBI was harshly criticized for not doing all it could to prevent the Boston bombing, and that criticism was bipartisan, coming not only from Texas Republican Representative Louie Gohmert, but from Massachusetts Democrat Representative William Keating and South Carolina RINO Senator Lindsey Graham. And the inspector general’s new report shows how justified that criticism was. According to the Times, the Russians told the feds that Tamerlan Tsarnaev “was a follower of radical Islam and a strong believer” and that he “had changed drastically since 2010 as he prepared to leave the United States for travel to the country’s region to join unspecified underground groups.”

Those “underground groups” could in this context only have been a reference to jihad groups. And so that means that the Russians essentially told the FBI that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a jihadi. Why wasn’t that enough for the FBI to keep him under close surveillance? It has now become clear that Tsarnaev murdered three Jews – his former friends – on September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the day that jihad came most bloodily to the United States. The victims’ friendship with Tsarnaev was known to many – why didn’t those murders, even if law enforcement officials couldn’t charge him with them at the time, lead the FBI to think it might be worth watching him?

The Times says that the FBI didn’t pursue watching him and his brother because they hadn’t “found anything substantive that ties them to a terrorist group.” The possibility that they could have pulled off a lone wolf jihad attack apparently didn’t occur to these intel experts. And because of the Obama/Brennan scrubbing of counter-terror training materials of information about Islam and jihad, agents probably had no idea of the deep roots or virulence of Islamic anti-Semitism, so they had no idea of the implications of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s close acquaintance with the 9/11/11 murder victims, despite the fact that the Russians had told them he was a “radical.”

The FBI clearly failed in this case and bears some responsibility for the Boston bombing, but ultimately the responsibility lies with Barack Obama and John Brennan, who made sure that agents would be abysmally ignorant of Islam and jihad when they scrubbed all mention of both from counterterror training — so how could the FBI properly evaluate what the Russians told them?

The FBI’s failure wasn’t the Russians’ fault. It was the fault of the Obama Administration’s politically correct unwillingness to face the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat. Meanwhile, the media stigmatizing of all resistance to jihad terror and Islamic supremacism as “Islamophobia” only abets this willful ignorance, and leaves us all less safe. The one lesson that is clear one year after the Boston Marathon jihad bombing is that, unless there is a massive change of thinking at the highest levels of government and media, there will be many more such bombings.

A desperate attempt to save face.

Attorney General Eric Holder announced Thursday that the Justice Department would seek the death penalty for Boston Marathon jihad mass murderer Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

This is a transparent face-saving gesture. The clueless, politically correct, willfully ignorant Feds bungled the Boston jihad attack in numerous ways. Now, when it is far too late, they’re trying to look tough on jihad terror.

The Feds’ incompetence on this case began long before the bombing itself. The Russian government had Boston jihad bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev under surveillance, were deeply concerned about his contacts with jihad terrorists, and shared those concerns with the FBI. A Homeland Security official at the same time confirmed reports that the Saudis had also warned the FBI in writing about Tsarnaev – a claim that the Saudi ambassador in Washington immediately and heatedly denied.

Nor did the Feds conduct any investigation of the Islamic Society of Boston mosque that the bombers attended. Yet they are not the only jihad terrorists associated with that mosque. Aafia Siddiqui, a.k.a. “Lady al-Qaeda,” who was convicted of trying to murder American soldiers and may also have been plotting a jihad terror attack against an American city, was also a member, as was convicted jihad terror plotter Tarek Mehanna and his accomplice, Ahmad Abousamra. The renowned Muslim Brotherhood sheikh, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who has praised Hitler and called upon Muslims to finish his job of killing Jews, was a trustee of the Islamic Society of Boston and has addressed the mosque congregation during fundraisers. Another imam who has addressed the Boston congregation, Yasir Qadhi, has called for the replacement of the U.S. Constitution with Islamic law and said that the “life and prosperity” of Christians “holds no value in the state of Jihad.”

On June 12, 2013, as the scandal of the Obama Administration’s massive surveillance of law-abiding Americans was breaking, it was revealed that while the National Security Agency was listening to every phone call and reading every email, there was one place where people could be safe from surveillance: inside a mosque. Investor’s Business Daily reported that “the government’s sweeping surveillance of our most private communications excludes the jihad factories where homegrown terrorists are radicalized.

Since October 2011, mosques have been off-limits to FBI agents. No more surveillance or undercover string operations without high-level approval from a special oversight body at the Justice Department dubbed the Sensitive Operations Review Committee.”

This panel “was set up under pressure from Islamist groups who complained about FBI stings at mosques. Just months before the panel’s formation, the Council on American-Islamic Relations teamed up with the ACLU to sue the FBI for allegedly violating the civil rights of Muslims in Los Angeles by hiring an undercover agent to infiltrate and monitor mosques there.”

And specifically: “The FBI never canvassed Boston mosques until four days after the April 15 attacks, and it did not check out the radical Boston mosque where the Muslim bombers worshipped.”

The next day, Representative Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) confronted FBI director Robert Mueller about this, saying:

The FBI never canvassed Boston mosques until four days after the April 15th attacks. If the Russians tell you that someone has been radicalized and you go check and see the mosques that they went to, then you get the articles of incorporation as I have for the group that created the Boston mosque where these Tsarnaevs attended, and you find out the name Alamoudi – which you’ll remember because while you were FBI director, this man who was so helpful to the Clinton administration with so many big things, he gets arrested at Dulles Airport by the FBI and he’s now doing over twenty years for supporting terrorism. This is the guy that started the mosque where your Tsarnaevs were attending, and you didn’t even bother to go check about the mosque? And then when you have the pictures, why did no one go to the mosque and say, “Who are these guys? They may attend here.” Why was that not done, since such a thorough job was done?

Mueller initially disputed this, saying, “Your facts are not altogether well –” In a heated exchange, Gohmert shot back: “Sir, if you’re going to call me a liar, you need to point out specifically where the facts are wrong.”

Mueller responded: “We went to the mosque. Prior to Boston,” he said vehemently. “Prior to Boston happening, we were in that mosque talking to imams several months beforehand as part of our outreach efforts.”

Gohmert then asked: “Were you aware that those mosques were started by Alamoudi?”

“I’ve answered the question, sir,” Mueller replied.

Not satisfied with this, Gohmert pressed: “You didn’t answer the question, were you aware that it was started by Alamoudi.” Mueller then admitted that he had not been.

So we had the spectacle of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation being warned by at least one foreign government that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a jihadist, but not even being aware of the fact that Tsarnaev attended a Muslim Brotherhood-linked mosque that was founded by a principal al-Qaeda financier – and sending agents to that mosque not to investigate the Tsarnaevs or any other possible jihad activity there, but to engage in “outreach” to Muslims.

If anything illustrated the Obama Administration’s abject failure to take the jihad threat seriously, that was it. The only thing that would have completed the picture would have been if Robert Mueller had been holding Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s photo on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The foremost lesson of the Boston bombing was that the denial of the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, which the Obama Administration (as well as the mainstream media) had pursued so assiduously, was wrongheaded and dangerous. Obama said in late April 2013 that his FBI had not acted improperly, but had investigated Tamerlan Tsarnaev and found no signs that Tsarnaev was “engaging in extremist activity.” This was probably because agents had no idea how to tell whether or not Tamerlan Tsarnaev was “engaging in extremist activity,” because the “extremist activity” he was engaging in was Islamic jihad, and Obama’s FBI is forbidden to study Islamic jihad. And so the politically correct FBI ignored Tamerlan Tsarnaev despite repeated warnings from Russian authorities. And if they did investigate him, they didn’t know what to look for or how to understand what they were seeing.

Now, after all their massive failures, they’re getting tough with the surviving Tsarnaev, and calling for the death penalty? It’s too little, too late.

“I told the police there were only two Muslims who hung around the group of friends.”

The solution to this case was always right at hand. Unfortunately political correctness kept the police from reaching the obvious conclusion.

A friend said they were stunned that police apparently never investigated the significance of the fact that the trio — Brendan H. Mess, 25, Weissman, 31, and Rafael M. Teken, 37, who was also Jewish — were killed on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

That might have led them to take a second look at Tsarnaev, a Chechen Muslim immigrant who investigators now know was already starting down a path to Islamic radicalism.

“I told the police that there were only two Muslims I knew of who hung around the group of friends,” the friend told the paper. “Because of the 9/11 date, the fact that Tamerlan and Brendan’s last girlfriend were Muslim stood out.”

But the police didn’t choose to follow up on that until the Muslim terrorists had already bombed the Boston Marathon. Brendan Mess’ Muslim ex-girlfriend was apparently Hibatalla Eltilib, a Sudanese, who reportedly also found the bodies, which might expand Tamerlan’s motive in the murder.

According to the filing made Monday, Ibragim Todashev told investigators Tamerlan Tsarnaev participated in a triple slaying in Waltham on Sept. 11, 2011.

The filing is prosecutors’ attempt to block Dzhokhar Tsarnaev from getting certain information from authorities, including investigative documents associated with the Waltham slayings.

According to prosecutors, the ongoing investigation into the 2011 slayings is reason not to allow Dzhokhar Tsarnaev access to the documents he’s seeking.

Dzhokhar should be getting waterboarded at Gitmo, instead of enjoying the support of his fan club of liberal teenage girls and liberal lawyers while tampering with an investigation.

Unfortunately we’re on Obama Time now. And terrorists get the velvet glove treatment.

Law enforcement sources report that Todashev was initially cooperative, but became violent as he was about to sign a written statement confessing to a triple homicide allegedly committed by himself and Tsarnaev. “The agent, two Massachusetts State Police troopers, and other law enforcement personnel were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by the individual,” said a statement released by the FBI. “During the confrontation, the individual was killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries.”

The murder of Brendan Mess, 25, Raphael Teken, 37, and Eric Weissman, 31, occurred in Waltham, Massachusetts two years ago on September 11. The three men were discovered a day later, with their throats slit, and their bodies covered in marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash. No one has been charged in the case.

Law enforcement sources said that Todashev and Tsarnaev once worked out together at a Boston area gym. So did victim Brendan Mess. Tamerlan’s father, Anzor Tsarnaev, said his son and Todashev belonged to a small circle of Chechens involved in amateur fighting in the Boston area, and that they met “a few times” at events. Mess was also involved in mixed martial arts fighting, and sparred with Tsarnaev on occasion, a friend of both men told the Wall Street Journal.

The FBI became interested in Todashev when phone records connected him to Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The FBI kept track of him over the course of several weeks and questioned him on a few occasions as well. According to one official, Todashev had been cooperative to the point where he cancelled a planned trip to Russia in order to keep talking to the FBI. Todashev’s friends corroborated the FBI’s interest, saying they had been keeping track of him since the April 15 atrocity in Boston. They added that Tuesday night’s interview was supposed to be his last one with law enforcement officials.

Another friend, Umar Taramov, said he and his younger brother accompanied Todashev to meet investigators that night, but left when the meeting dragged on for hours. He was shocked when he returned and discovered Todashev had been killed following a violent altercation. “The Ibragim I know is a very normal guy,” contended Mr. Taramov. “This isn’t someone who would have done something crazy.”

Despite that assessment, Todashev had been involved in two previous incidents. In 2010, he was charged with with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, and civil infractions following a crash between his van and a car carrying two women. Todashev had to be restrained by witnesses when he attempt to aggressively confront them. The charges were subsequently dropped.

Earlier in May, he was charged with felony aggravated battery for fighting over a parking spot with a 54-year-old man and his 36-year-old son at Orlando’s Premium Outlets mall. The son was hospitalized after sustaining a split upper lip and getting several teeth knocked out, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Todashev was free on a $3,500 bond after being arrested by sheriff’s deputies at gunpoint, according to Florida court records.

Neighbors who knew Todashev while he was still living in the Cambridge area of Boston, described him as nasty. They also noted that he and Tamerlan Tsarnaev used to hang out together drinking beer and eating chicken on a Harding Street stoop. “I was the happiest person when they moved. … It’s a little more peaceful since they left,” said one neighbor. Another neighbor said Todashev “intimidated” her.

NBC News is reporting that the motive for the triple slaying was a drug deal gone wrong. According to law enforcement sources cited by the network, Tsarnaev and Todashev executed the men when they realized that the victims would be able to identify them. That may turn out to be the case, but it is hard to completely dismiss the Qur’anic implications associated with the crime. Two of the victims were Jews, and the Qur’an designates the Jews the worst enemies of the Muslims (5:82). All three had their throats slit to the point of near decapitation, and the Qur’an instructs the faithful to “strike the necks” of the unbelievers (47:4). It is unclear why, if the murders were indeed the result of a “drug deal gone bad,” a large sum of money and drugs were left behind, leaving the possibility that the scene was crudely staged. That the crime took place on the anniversary of 9/11 is also significant, due to the obsession Islamic jihadists characteristically possess for dates of terrorist attacks and Western victories.

It is not clear who shot Todashev during his interrogation. Along with the FBI agent who was attacked, there were Massachusetts state troopers and the Orlando police in the house during the interrogation. An FBI incident review team from Washington, D.C. was in the Orlando area yesterday investigating the incident. According to procedure, the team will question all the witnesses to the shooting. A separate Shooting Incident Review Group committee, comprised of as many as 13 FBI members, will also analyze the incident to determine if the use of force was justified or not. The agent who was attacked has not been publicly identified, but he is a member of the FBI’s Boston division.

As of now there is nothing to indicate that Todashev had anything to do with the Boston bombings. Officials concede that he had some connection with radical Chechen rebels, but it remains unclear whether he had any role in radicalizing Tsarnaev. According to his father, Abdulbaki Todashev, Ibragim was neither violent or particularly devout. “He is ordinary, like all Chechens, he followed Islam and that’s it.” He further contended that his son was currently “learning to walk again” following an operation, which would have made it impossible for him to take part in the Boston bombings.

Abdulbaki Todashev also questioned the FBI’s version of his son’s death. “How could he attack a policeman with a knife especially, as they say, if there were five or six of them in his house?” he asked.

An autopsy was expected to be completed yesterday, but the report will not be made available while the case remains under criminal investigation. A relative whose name was kept from the public came forward to claim Todashev’s body from the Orange-Osceola County Medical Examiner.

Late yesterday afternoon, the Washington Times reported that the condo occupied by Todashev is owned by Roman Shakhmanov, 28, who is currently residing in Houston, TX. At this time the relationship between the two men is unknown.

In a note left behind on the boat where he was hiding, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev claimed he and his brother bombed the Boston Marathon in retribution for U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq. Dzhokhar called victims of that atrocity “collateral damage.” Sadly, numerous pundits on the Right and the Left have been parroting Dzhokhar’s line, also alleging that the bombing was more or less “blowback” from America’s Middle East forays. Never mind that our missions liberated countless Muslims from the likes of the Taliban and Saddam Hussein and that, in fact, they are now all but abandoned. Certainly, if anything strikes at the heart of the discredited “blowback” hypothesis, it is the 2011 9/11 anniversary slaying. The brutal murder of the three Boston men allegedly committed by Tamerlan Tsarnaev — something it is virtually impossible to believe that Dzhokhar would have been unaware of — proves that the Tsarnaevs were not driven by politics but driven by bloodlust. They were adherents to an ideology that nurtures the human capacity for evil. And they became monsters.

The FBI is calling this a drug deal gone bad, but considering that both money and drugs were left behind, it doesn’t sound like drugs were the issue at all. And considering the date, the 10th anniversary of September 11 and the identities of the victims, there is a more obvious explanation.

But here’s the official story…

Dead Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and another man — who was killed by the FBI on Wednesday — murdered three people in Massachusetts after a drug deal went wrong in 2011, law enforcement sources tell NBC News.

Sources say that what began as a drug ripoff ended in a triple homicide when Tsarnaev and friend Ibragim Todashev realized their victims would later be able to identify them.

Todashev was killed by a federal agent while giving a statement on his role on Wednesday in Orlando, Fla.

The man who was shot, Todashev, 27, allegedly attacked an agent with a knife while confessing to the 3-year-old slayings. He was not suspected of having played any role in the bombing that killed three people and injured scores more in April, but he did confess to being involved in a brutal Boston-area slaying two years ago, investigators said.

“During the confrontation, the individual was killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries,” according to the statement.

Brendan Mess, 25; Raphael Teken, 37; and Eric Weissman, 31, were found with their throats cut in September of 2011, and their bodies were covered with marijuana. No suspects had been arrested in that case.

One of the murdered men was Israeli.

The bodies of 25-year-old Brendan Mess and two other men were found with their throats cut on September 12, 2011, in what police deemed a triple homicide related to the drug trade. The bodies were covered almost ceremoniously with marijuana. And $5,000 was found in the apartment. Also, there was no sign of forced entry, suggesting Mess knew the killer or killers.

A few months after Mess’ murder, Tsarnaev went to Russia for six months. His father, Anzor Tsarnaev, told the Associated Press his son stayed with him in the city of Makhachkala, in the region of Dagestan. “He slept until 3 p.m., and you know, I would ask him: ‘Have you come here to sleep?’” his father said. “He used to go visiting, here and there. He would go to eat somewhere. Then he would come back and go to bed.”

It’s possible that the plan had been to hit them up for money to finance a Jihadist trip, but the money and drugs were both left behind making this something else entirely.

A local Jihad.

So now maybe we have three lone wolves. Not counting the other three who helped cover up for the Tsarnaevs and have been charged for it. So now it's six lone wolves.

We started out with two lone wolves. Which is one more than a lone wolf should be. Now a third man, Ibragim Todashev, a Muslim associate of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot dead by an FBI agent. Presumably for cause.

So now maybe we have three lone wolves. Not counting the other three who helped cover up for the Tsarnaevs and have been charged for it. So now it’s six lone wolves.

That is a lot of lone wolves. Maybe it even counts as a pack of lone wolves.

The Florida story is still developing, but here is some of what we do know…

A man who was shot dead by an FBI agent late Tuesday night in Orlando knew one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings, a man identified as friend of the victim said Wednesday.

The agent encountered the man while conducting official duties, agent Dave Couvertier said in a statement.

A man at the scene on Peregrine Avenue near Kirkman and Vineland roads who identified himself as a friend of the victim said the man knew Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the older brother suspected in the April 15 bombings that killed three and injured more than 260.

Khusen Taramov said he and his friend had no connection with the Boston bombings, but the FBI had been questioning them since then.

Miller reported that FBI agents went to Todashev’s apartment complex after midnight Wednesday morning to question him. Todashev had been on the bureau’s radar since Tsarnaev was identified as a suspect in the bombing.

“He had been interviewed along with a number of other people in the apartment complex, but the interest in him was higher because of a couple of factors: He was in contact with Tamerlan Tsarnaev. He had been to Boston to visit him, and he was planning a trip to Chechnya,” Miller said.

FBI agents went to question him overnight after there were indications that he canceled that trip, Miller said.

“In the encounter in the apartment, something went wrong,” Miller said.

Things often seem to go wrong when interacting with Muslims. Might be a lone wolf thing.

It's that dangerous tiny of minority of extremists that we have to watch out for, not the majority of moderate wife beating Muslims.

But the Islamic Society of Boston only recommends moderate wife beating, so it could in no way have contributed to an extremist act of terror. It’s that dangerous tiny of minority of extremists that we have to watch out for, not the majority of moderate wife beating Muslims.

The Islamic Society of Boston, the mosque attended by Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev, posted an article on its website in September 2004 that advocated for the beating of women as a last resort to force them to behave.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based mosque posted an English translation of Saudi cleric Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajid’s 1997 work, “The Muslim Home: 40 Recommendations in Light of the Quran and Sunnah,” which the mosque headlined, “40 Recommendations for the Muslim Home.”

“Hinting at punishment is an effective means of discipline, so the reason for hanging up a whip or stick in the house was explained in another report, where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Hang up the whip where the members of the household can see it, for this is more effective in disciplining them,’” the article states.

“Hitting is not the way to discipline; it is not to be resorted to, except when all other means are exhausted, or when it is needed to force someone to do obligatory acts of obedience, as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): ‘… As to those women on whose part you fear ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful),’” it goes on.

The author of the work, Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajid, said on religious program that “Jewish websites” can justifiably be hacked by Muslims as part of the “war against (Jews).”

See this is truly moderate Islam. It only recommends beating your wife after a waiting period and the Sheikh only talks about hacking Jewish websites, instead of hacking off Jewish heads.

Clearly we need more moderate influences like this in America.

Lenin famously said that the capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them. Today welfare will give them the rope for free

Liberals have repeatedly blocked efforts to prevent food stamp fraud. The Tsarnaev clan, like so many Muslim immigrants, were abusing the system in a big way and may have even financed their terror spree using EBT transfers.

A mountain of new welfare records shows numerous EBT card cash withdrawals made by the Tsarnaev family, but so far there is no information about how terrorist Tamerlan Tsarnaev and others may have spent the money.

The EBT receipts were handed over by the state to the House Post Audit and Oversight Committee as part of its probe into the Russian family’s $100,000-plus taxpayer-financed life in the Bay State. The committee met yesterday behind closed doors to review Medicaid and welfare awards.

The purchases show specific stores, but not the items bought. But further details could be available to investigators.

The committee’s request for financial aid records from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth — where marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was a sophomore flunking some classes and owing a reported $20,000 — was rejected, the Herald learned. Federal officials have forbidden the school from releasing any records publicly.

Rafi Ron, a former top Israeli security official and past consultant to Logan International Airport, said the welfare cash could have been enough money to help the Tsarnaev brothers build their pressure-cooker bombs that killed three and injured more than 260 at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15.

It is still unclear from the records whether any welfare cash was used to finance slain bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s journey to Dagestan from January to July 2012.

Lenin famously said that the capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them. But that was when America was still capitalist. Today welfare will give them the rope for free and run an ad campaign to inform them that they can get the rope for free while providing them with an interpreter so that the rope giveaway will be culturally sensitive.

The story has been around before, but now there is forensic backing for what was just a theory. And the evidence doesn’t just link Tamerlan Tsanraev to the murders, but his brother as well.

Massachusetts investigators have developed what they call “mounting evidence,” bolstered by “forensic hits,” that point to the possible involvement of both Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar in a gruesome, unsolved triple homicide in 2011, law enforcement officials told ABC News.

In the wake of the Marathon bombings, Middlesex County began to probe a link between the elder Tsarnaev and Brendan Mess, one of the three men killed in the gruesome slaying on Sept. 11, 2011. Officials said Mess and two men were found in a Waltham residence with their throats slit and their bodies covered with marijuana. Tamerlan and Mess were once roommates and did boxing and martial arts training together.

Mess and his friends, Erik Weissman, 31, and Raphael Teken, 37, had ordered dinner from Gerry’s Italian Kitchen at 8:54 p.m., but when a delivery woman arrived twenty minutes later there was no answer at the door and no one answered a call to Weissman’s cell phone, from which the order was placed.

Roughly seven pounds of marijuana was dumped on the bodies and $5,000 in cash was left behind. Neighbors said they did not hear any signs of trouble – even with open windows – and there was no forced entry. In a 2011 interview, Leone said investigators theorized there had been more than one person at the scene of the murders based on “many factors,” but no suspects were identified.

Then, Gerry’s Italian Kitchen became a focal point again on April 24, nine days after the Marathon bombing, after investigators removed a Planet Aid charity donation bin from its parking lot. A driver had discovered discarded fireworks inside and law enforcement sources told ABC News the gunpowder had been removed from the cartridges.

It is unclear how the Tsarnaev brothers were associated with Gerry’s Italian Kitchen, if at all, but looking back, multiple residents of Waltham and Watertown remember Tamerlan Tsarnaev delivering food to their homes and Tsarnaev family members have told reporters the brothers worked as pizza deliverymen. The eatery’s management, however, steadfastly denied that either Tsarnaev brother worked there.

Now law enforcement officials tell ABC News that some crime scene forensic evidence provided a match to the two Tsarnaev brothers. The officials also said records of cell phones used by the Tsarnaevs appears to put them in the area of the murders on that date.

The officials cautioned that until more definitive DNA testing is complete, it is still too early to consider bringing an indictment against the younger of the two brothers.

The owner of Gerry’s Italian Kitchen appears to be the not-very-Italian, Suhail Oweis. Based on the name, Suhail is very likely Muslim. As part of Suhail’s commitment to all things Italian, Suhail Oweis owns Ravioli, Inc which is probably also Raviolis Brick Oven Pizzaria. And then there’s Sabastinos Italian Kitchen.

And also possibly a Global Processing Systems and something called WCD. Inc. Also involved is a Samir Lweis. These interact with Bassam Enterprises, which appears to own at least one of these businesses, and whose owner has links to the Saudi, Qatari and UAE embassies.

In other words, nothing suspicious to see here.

You know things are bad when a Time Magazine reporter begins his story with a paragraph like this.

The officials told the Post that the Tsarnaev brothers were “self-radicalized,” meaning that their views were shaped by what they saw online and knew of U.S. actions in the Muslim world. But judging by the opinion of the U.S. that Gasanaliev expressed to TIME, Tamerlan’s alleged politics would at least have been reinforced by the views upheld at the mosque on Kotrova Street.

From there Imam Khasan-Khadzhi Gasanaliev expresses his belief that America is a den of mass murderers and will be destroyed and his disregard for the victims of the bombing.

“America will soon collapse. It will disappear,” Gasanaliev said matter-of-factly after sitting down with TIME for an exclusive interview. “How many years did the Arabic Caliphate rule? For hundreds of years, the world was ruled by the Arabic Caliphate. And it was a wonderful ruler. Now America is the great power. But tomorrow it will fall apart, a few more hurricanes, a few more of something else.” Pausing for a moment, he switches to a different tone: “But today, we must all look each other in the eyes honestly, wish each other well, respect each other and love each other. There should be no violence.”

Last week’s violence in Boston confuses him not because it was indiscriminate, but because it has caused such an uproar, bringing a pack of journalists to Dagestan with questions for him and his mosque. “Somebody from somewhere was killed, or something was fabricated, and so much noise because of this,” he says with bewilderment. “How much has America done in Vietnam, in all its wars everywhere. Right now it is turning the entire Arab world upside down. They kill hundreds, thousands, millions of people and nobody is interested. But over there someone does something, blows something up, someone is killed, and because of this they send so many people [journalists] here. They are surprised by this.”

Imam Khasan-Khadzhi Gasanaliev claims that his mosque is not political, but it clearly is, as the reporter sticks around to learn that the bland sermon he heard is not typical.

Few of them would speak openly to a reporter afterward, but some of those who did said they appreciated the mosque on Kotrova Street for not shying from political and social issues. “He tells it straight,” a worshipper named Magomedgadzhi said of the imam, declining to give his surname. “He can criticize the people in power if they deserve it. You don’t really hear that anywhere else.”

And what does telling it straight mean?

Gasanaliev said no security services have visited the mosque since the Boston bombings. But in the past, the scrutiny of the FSB has been nearly constant, and it is little wonder why. Congregants at the mosque on Kotrova Street have often been killed in shootouts with Russia’s counterterrorism forces.

The Salafi bookstore across the street offers literature that has been blacklisted by the state. Tucked in among copies of the Koran and video lectures on such topics as courtship and divorce, there are the tracts of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a pan-Islamic political party that operates freely in the West but is banned in Russia as an extremist organization, as well as in other former Soviet republics in Central Asia.

The curious thing is that Gasanaliev is the deputy mufti of Dagestan. In Russia, Islamic clergy are closely monitored and like all official clergy, often report to the authorities and work for them. If the FSB really thinks a cleric is a problem, he vanishes.

It’s quite likely that the security services are playing a double game, sponsoring some Salafists, partly to get a line on terrorist groups and partly to make use of them in terrorist attacks. One of the reasons that the Russians may be slow to cooperate in this case, beyond what they already offered, is that they are protecting their sources.

The deadly "progressive" mindset that caused the intelligences failures in the Boston bombing.

Last Thursday, adding insult to injury in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, the administration of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick stonewalled efforts by the Boston Herald to determine the extent of government benefits provided to the Tsarnaev brothers, particularly attack mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The Patrick administration’s absurd stance, with its preoccupation with the “privacy rights” of non-citizen Tamerlan — an alien terrorist — is a reflection of the kind of inept leadership and dogmatic thinking that led to the success of the attack in the first place. The egregious intelligence failures and uniform chorus of jihad denial following the attack have left little question that leftist political establishment, from state agencies to the Oval Office, does not recognize the true nature of the threats America faces. Nor does it take them seriously.

Gov. Patrick was careful to ensured a united front of silence on the government’s potential role in subsidizing Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s lifestyle during the period he was becoming radicalized. Several different state agencies and others thwarted the Herald’s information-gathering efforts. When the paper asked about the brothers’ Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card usage, state welfare spokesman Alec Loftus would only say that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, along with his wife and daughter, received benefits ending in 2012. Labor department spokesman Kevin Franck contended that whether Tamerlan received unemployment compensation was “confidential and not a matter of public record.” Regarding Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s college aid, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth spokesman Robert Connolly contended that “student records…cannot under federal law be released without a student’s consent.” The FCC cited privacy in declining to reveal if the brothers had been issued government-subsidized cell phones. Their landlord dodged questions about whether they used Section 8 housing vouchers to subsidize their living arrangements.

Two day later, after an enraged public made their feelings known, the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) released details of such information, but only to state lawmakers. “The Tsarnaev parents were eligible to receive benefits as legal, non-citizen residents who were granted asylum status and met the basic eligibility criteria for DTA, including household income levels, presence of dependent children and other factors,” said a letter from DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan to David Linsky, Chairman of the House Post Audit and Oversight Committee. Yet once again, Monahan reminded Linsky that state law forbids the release of “protected data” without an individual’s consent.

Monahan subsequently released new details, emphasizing that neither brother directly received state welfare benefits at any time. They did however, receive them through their parents, and Tamerlan obtained benefits through his wife, Katherine Russell, for a period of 14 months, from September 2011 to November 2012. Currently, taxpayers remain on the hook for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s medical bills at at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, as well as his court-appointed attorneys.

The refusal to release this information is typical of the left’s agenda to reduce Islamic terrorism to ordinary criminal misconduct — not outbreaks of the ongoing jihadist war against the U.S. According to this view, alien terrorists who live among us are not considered enemies of state, a part of a wider global war against the country, but common criminals. Most Americans intuitively understand how severely this mentality impedes our government’s ability to protect the homeland, putting innocent civilians at risk. Unfortunately, the litany of embarrassing intelligence and surveillance failures surrounding the Boston Marathon bombing also suggests that the reality of our national security challenges are not being taken seriously by the Obama-run counterterrorism community as well.

Despite two separate warnings to the FBI and the CIA from Russia in 2011, the FBI closed out their file on Tamerlan Tsarnaev after interviewing him and his family, and deciding he posed no risk. The FBI also added Tamerlan’s name to their TECS database. It alerted the Joint Terrorism Task Force when Tsarnaev left America for a six-month trip to Russia in January 2012. Yet in a prime example of bureaucratic ineptitude, officials differed on who received the alert, with one telling Reuters it went to the FBI’s lead investigator in the Boston bombing, while another said the Customs and Border Protection officer assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force would have received it. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano added to the folly, telling Congress last Tuesday that the database notification expired while Tamerlan was still abroad.

Furthermore, it turns out the brothers’ mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, was also on the Terror Identities Datamart Environment watch list. In a 2011 call taped by the Russians, Tamerlan Tsarnaev “vaguely discussed” jihad with his mother. Zubeidat Tsarnaeva also spoke with a man under FBI investigation located in the Caucasus region of Russia. Yet officials insist that no plot against the United States was discussed.

This is completely unsurprising. The purge of Islamic terrorist references from FBI training manuals, which deleted terms such as “al Qaeda,” “Muslim Brotherhood,” and “jihad,” even as it insists that “training must emphasize that no investigative or intelligence collection activity may be based solely on race, ethnicity, national origin, or religious affiliation” has undoubtedly hamstrung that agency’s ability to connect the dots. Moreover, media is more than willing to see this intentionally-promoted generic viewpoint. The Atlantic ran a piece entitled “The Boston Bombers Were Muslim: So?” as if such a revelation were incidental. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews wondered, “What difference does it make why they did it?” even as he was more than willing to accuse talk show hosts Mark Levin and Michael Savage of being complicit in the Tuscon shooting. CNN contended that “it was unclear what might have motivated the brothers to commit the heinous crime they are suspected of carrying out. All day Friday, reporters sought out people who knew them, trying to understand one thing: Why?”

Such calculated nonsense leads to an inexorable conclusion: progressives are a national security risk.

Furthermore, their PC-inspired track record is littered with corpses. In 2009, Nidal Hasan killed 13 and wounded 31 of his fellow troops while shouting “Allahu Akbar!” and the administration labeled it “workplace violence,” denying the victims of that massacre Purple Hearts in the process. In Afghanistan, more than 100 American and NATO troops were killed in green-on-blue “friendly fire” incidents, until a standing order requiring Americans troops to remove the magazines from their weapons while quartered at bases with their “trusted”–and armed–Afghan trainees, was rescinded in August 2012.

Moreover, several other domestic terrorist attacks have been thwarted, yet none of them have been treated as anything other than criminal actions. Hosam Maher Husein Smadi was arrested for placing what he thought was a car bomb outside the 60-story Fountain Place in Dallas; Mohamed Osman Mohamud was thwarted by the FBI before he could bomb Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square during that city’s annual Christmas tree-lighting event; Farooque Ahmed was arrested for collecting information to facilitate a terrorist bombing attack on Washington, DC transit stations; Afghan Najibullah Zazi, Adis Medunjanin and Zarein Ahmedzay were prevented from conducting a suicide bombing campaign on NYC’s subway system; Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis was prevented from blowing up the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City with a car bomb; and Faisal Shahzad, pleaded guilty of attempting to detonate a car bomb in Times Square–a plot that was discovered by sheer luck.

To support its narrative, the leftist establishment is justifying its lax concern for national security and incompetent oversight by trying hard to portray the bombers as “lone wolves.” The most egregious example of this attempt was perpetrated by the Boston Globe. An article, “Tsarnaev brothers appeared to have scant finances,” attempts to make the case that the brothers’ seemingly comfortable lifestyle was a facade, leading to an inescapable conclusion. “If the brothers had outside financial or technical support for their deadly attack on the Marathon, it certainly isn’t reflected in their lifestyle or their weapons,” the paper contends. “The picture that is emerging is more like terrorism on a budget, consistent with reports that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told interrogators from his hospital bed that he and his brother acted alone.”

However, facts are emerging that put that assessment in question. On Friday, a national security source speaking on condition of anonymity told Fox News’ chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge that a “line of sight” speed controller from a remote control toy car was used to trigger the bombs. This may mean that a third operative was involved in the attacks. And while there is no evidence from the scene, investigators are probing the Tsarnaev brothers’ computers to glean additional information.

Unfortunately, probing at least one of those computers remains unlikely. CNN has reported that it may have been dumped in a landfill in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Authorities say that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev himself “spurred” them to look there. Yet a U.S. law enforcement official close to the Boston investigation said that there may also be others with knowledge of the computer’s whereabouts, or that others may have played a role in its disposal.

Two of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s friends, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev, have been arrested. They come from Kazakhstan, and Dzhokhar may have spent the night at their apartment after the bombing. They were recently photographed with the Boston Marathon bomber in Times Square. On Friday, it was revealed that Times Square was ostensibly the Tsarnaev brothers’ next target. Authorities are assuring Americans that the second bombing was a “spontaneous decision,” and that neither Tazhayakov or Kadyrbayev have been linked to terrorist activity. They are ostensibly being held in the hope they can help authorities piece together the movement of the Tsarnaev brothers before and after the bombing. “These guys are not being cut loose immediately, and there’s a reason why,” a federal law enforcement source said.

Whether these men, or any other players are involved in this atrocity remains a distinct possibility. Yet following the bombing, Obama made his priorities clear. “One of the things that makes America the greatest nation on Earth…is that we welcome people from all around the world–people of every faith, every ethnicity, from every corner of the globe. So as we continue to learn more about why and how this tragedy happened, let’s make sure that we sustain that spirit.”

Multicultural spirit aside, the how and why of this tragedy demands a no-holds-barred investigation–that has already been compromised. If another attack is perpetrated in the near future, especially one that may have been prevented if Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had been properly questioned before he was Mirandized, an American public that has so far tolerated the atrocity in Boston will surely not be so forgiving. That this administration would be willing to take such an enormous chance, based on little more than the word of an alleged terrorist that he and his brother acted alone, is testimony to the depth of the White House’s warped convictions.

Nadine Ascencao, 24, said Tamerlan made her wear an Islamic hijab and pray to Allah and slapped her when she wore Western clothes. But she was so blindly in love with the handsome boxer who had taken her virginity, she did her utmost to make him happy.

This is a familiar story for Western women and girls who get into relationships with Muslims. It just doesn’t always end in terrorism. Nadine Ascencao was lucky to get out when she did because from her story it’s clear that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was recruiting a collaborator in terrorism.

Nadine said: “I went to his mosque a couple of times and even looked into converting to make him happy. I thought, ‘This is crazy’ — but I still did it for him.

“Tamerlan had taken my virginity and said he loved me because I was pure and hadn’t been with any other guys. I was in love and scared he’d leave me if I didn’t do what he said. Looking back I had a lucky escape.”

Tamerlan, 26, who with 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar killed three people and injured 260 when they exploded two bombs at the Boston marathon, started dating Nadine in 2006 when she was 17.

During their three-year relationship she watched him change from a cannabis-smoking, party-loving teenager into a violent extremist.

She said: “One minute he’s this funny, normal guy who liked boxing and having fun, the next he is praying four times a day, watching Islamic videos and talking insane nonsense.

“He became extremely religious and tried to brainwash me to follow Islam. Tamerlan said I couldn’t be with him unless I became a Muslim. He wanted me to hate America like he did.”

Instead he found a girl who would join him in his mosque and in his hate.

And she was heartbroken when she learned he was secretly seeing another girl. Her rival was Katherine Russell, a student who was to become Tamerlan’s wife after converting to Islam. Crafty Tamerlan was soon playing the two women off against one another.

Nadine said: “He once made me learn a verse of an Islamic prayer and if I got it wrong he’d say, ‘Well Katherine can do it’.”

And now we learn how the domestic violence incident happened and why.

Tamerlan even attacked Nadine when he found her heading off to a friend’s pool party wearing cut-off jeans and a crop top.

She said: “He was shouting and screaming at me. He slapped me across the face really hard.”

Nadine called the police and Tamerlan was arrested and spent a night in the cells. Once out on bail he begged Nadine’s forgiveness.

But as soon as she dropped the charges Tamerlan dumped her and moved in with Katherine. Nadine’s relationship was over and within six months Katherine was pregnant with Tamerlan’s daughter.

The New York Times’ sympathetic pieces on the Muslim bombers minimized the attack and emphasized that the charges were dropped. (Yes, liberals easily learn to love the War on Women when it’s carried out by Muslims.)

Nadine’s story is another reminder that the Hijab is not empowering. It’s an abusive tool of abusive men. The idea that it’s a choice is Islamist propaganda.

And we now also know that Tamerlan was a pothead and that his switch to Islamic religiosity (not all that unusual of a transition among Muslim men in the West who turn religious after a few years of partying) was not associated with some boxing defeat, as the New York Times tried to pretend, but was inexplicable even to his girlfriend.

What disturbing new evidence reveals about the Boston jihadist.

Did Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev murder Jews on the 10th anniversary of 9/11? That’s the question police are now asking, as they continue to dig into the past of Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

The three young men, Brendan Mess, Erik Weissman and Raphael Teken, were found murdered in an apartment in Waltham, Massachusetts on September 12, 2011. They had been killed the night before. All three victims had their throats slashed, and their bodies were covered in marijuana. The crime scene was described as particularly brutal, with an investigator saying, “their throats were slashed right out of an al Qaeda training video. “ But Weissman had been arrested previously on charges of possession with intent to distribute, and neighbors also suspected Teken of being involved in the drug trade. For these reasons, police initially suspected a drug connection. At the time of the killing, investigators were looking for two suspects, who were believed to be known to the victims.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was known to at least one victim. He has been described as having been a “friend” of Brendan Mess, although, notably, Tamerlan later claimed “I don’t have any American friends.” While Tsarnaev’s turn away from alcohol and cigarettes for religious reasons has been highlighted in the press, this declaration also contains intense religious undertones. Explicit prohibitions against friendship with nonbelievers appear repeatedly in the Qu’ran (see 5:51,5:80,3:28,3:118,9:23). It is important to note that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the second bombing suspect and Tamerlan’s brother, has been described as a “pot head,” which suggests another possible connection.

Far from being merely randomly cruel, throat slitting could be justified religiously, for instance, by Sura 47:4, which reads, “So, when you meet those who disbelieve (in battle), smite (their) necks until you have fully defeated them, then tighten their bonds[.]”

And also Sura 8:12: “Remember thy Lord inspired the angels [with the message]: “I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.”

The killing of victims by slitting the throat is indeed an Islamic terrorist trademark for this very reason. This is perhaps best demonstrated by the murders of reporter Daniel Pearl and businessman Nick Berg. Not coincidentally, both men were also Jews.

The targeted murder of Jews by an increasingly radical Muslim population is already well underway in the Western world, especially in France. Just on Tuesday, April 23rd, a knife-wielding maniac screaming “Allahu akbar” attacked a Rabbi and his son in Paris, attempting to murder them. In 2012, Mohammed Merah, a French-Algerian terrorist with Al-Qaeda ties, murdered a Rabbi, and three young Jewish children, along with two French soldiers, before being killed by French counter-terror forces. In 2006, Ilan Halimi, a Jewish salesman, was tortured to death by Islamist gangsters in Paris. According to witnesses, passages of the Quran were chanted while Halimi was stabbed and burned.

Islamic anti-Semitism played a role in all of these killings and attacks. Indeed the legacy of Islamic anti-Semitism is extensive, and developed independently from classical Western anti-Semitism, although there are areas of cross-influence.

If evidence is discovered that shows that the Tsarnaev brothers (either one or both) played a role in the murder of these three young men (at least two of whom were Jewish) back in 2011, it will be easy to claim that, in hindsight, they should have been obvious suspects. This is somewhat unfair. The world is a violent place, and the drug underground even more so. Police see far too much murder and mayhem to be expected to immediately jump to such a conclusion.

But an understanding of how men like Tamerlan ascribe great import to classical, and violent, interpretations of Islamic texts does provide motive, and modus operandi that would have been valuable for investigators to understand. And unfortunately, these classical understandings are of the kind taught in far too many American mosques, including, likely, the one Tsarnaev attended.

More important is what it suggests moving forward. If Tamerlan was involved in the deaths of these three men on the anniversary of September 11th, in 2011, then he was already a hardened killer well before his return trip to Chechnya in 2012. All talk of his having been “radicalized” in Chechnya, already an unlikely claim, would be undermined. If Tamerlan was involved in the deaths of these three men, it also means that European-style, violent, Islamic anti-Semitism has reached American shores, and, as in France, carries with it direct ties to what is sanitized as terrorism, even though for men like Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Mohammad Merah, casual murder and high-profile bombings are simply different manifestations of the same jihad.

Given the tendency by the media to give short shrift to the religious motivations and violent ideology of Islamist terrorists, preferring instead to seek any other kind of explanation, and the federal government’s move to purge counter-terrorism trainers who can provide instruction on the religiously-based motives and methods of Islamist violence, we can expect that more Islamist violence is likely to go undetected. And more murders may go unsolved.

There is no way to know what tomorrow may bring. There may be floods and there may be hurricanes. There may be muggings and murders. But the one thing we can be sure of is that the parade of sympathetic stories about the Muslim terrorists who bombed the Boston Marathon will continue.

The terrorist propagandists ply their trade with the same relentlessness that terrorists like Tamerlan Tsarnaev ply theirs. They have no sense of right and wrong and no sense of decency either.

And so the paper of record, whose record is that of defending terrorists, is at it again. Before the Boston Marathon bombings, the New York Times ran an op-ed from one of Osama bin Laden’s bodyguards whining about his hunger strike. After the bombings, it keeps running sympathetic pieces about the bombers.

The latest such piece tries to spin a new narrative that Tamerlan Tsarnaev only turned to terrorism because immigration rules at the Golden Gloves prevented him from competing.

The narrative contradicts much of what we know from other sources. Tamerlan Tsarnaev told his father that he was giving up boxing because he believed it was against Islam. And Tamerlan Tsarnaev had lost an earlier match, though the New York Times insists, based on a quote from his coach, that he really should have won.

And there you go. A perfectly nice Chechen loses a boxing match and then gets shut out from the competition for a year until he gets his citizenship. And then he gets shut out from obtaining citizenship due to domestic violence and terrorism and he has no choice but to turn to terrorism.

The narrative is slimy and dishonest. And it points toward Appeasement Avenue.

The idea is that if you don’t give a Muslim everything he wants, if you don’t bend over backward to provide him with special treatment, he may turn to terrorism. And then you’re responsible for the murders of those he kills.

It’s obscene. It’s self-destructive. It’s liberalism.

Among Muslims, the title of Mother of Martyrs is much sought after by Jihadist mothers

The narrative of the “American” who didn’t know much about Islam and fell in with a bad crowd is slowly falling apart. First we learned that it was Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s mother who “radicalized” him by getting him interested in Islam again, though even this is an overstatement considering that his wife had undergone an Islamic conversion and begun wearing a Hijab.

Now we learn that Zubeidat Tsarnaeva was on the terror watch list along with her son, which means that she was involved in terrorist activities. To the extent that Tamerlan was recruited, it would appear that the mother recruited her own son.

This may sound shocking to Americans, but among Muslims, the title of Mother of Martyrs is much sought after by Jihadist mothers. Take Mariam Farhat, (though the devil already did.)

Umm Nidal (“mother of the struggle”: real name Maryam Farhat), who died three days ago at the age of 64, is a hero to Palestinians. That’s because three of her six sons were “martyrs”.

After Muhammed died (taking with him five Israeli students and wounding 23), she thanked Allah and handed out boxes of chocolates and halvah. She was later elected to the Palestinian parliament.

Nidal’s funeral was attended by thousands of Palestinians and many dignitaries, including the Palestinian prime minister.

On the eve of Obama’s visit, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas paid homage to Nidal and gave her a special award, the “Order of Sacrifice.

You can see the Islamic ethos of human sacrifice embodied here as Farhat speaks about offering her son up to Allah for forgiveness and proclaims that what we want is the rule of Islam.

That is the sort of mindset we are dealing with in Zubeidat Tsarnaeva. Farhat sacrificed three sons to Allah for the murderous rampages demanded by the Muslim deity. Zubeidat Tsarnaeva has sacrificed two and assumes that Allah is pleased with her for all the carnage her sons wrought.

Media still unclear as to motive, but boxing injuries and capitalism are suspected to be the cause. And so at the end of the long road from Tea Party terrorist protesting taxes, we come right back to where we started with Islamic terrorism.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev didn’t talk about wanting to die for Chechnya. If he had, he could have gone to join the fighting there. He wanted to die for Islam. And like so many Jihadists he got his wish, before an ACLU lawyer could step in.

Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev sent text messages to his mother as early as 2011 suggesting he was willing to die for Islam, the FBI told lawmakers this week according to two officials with knowledge of the Capitol Hill briefing.

Once again, it’s clear that the supposed radicalization was not brief or recent. Tamerlan had turned his thoughts to terrorism a while back, not just in the spring when a young man’s fancies turn to love and a young Jihadist’s fancies turn to killing innocent people.

At the time when the FBI interviewed him, he was already a terrorist-in-waiting and he wasn’t shy about mentioning that or even broadcasting it.

The interesting question will be what he told the FBI agents who interviewed him. Tamerlan was not exactly subtle as incidents like these testify to. He reportedly tried to convert the FBI agent to Islam. Did the FBI agent ask him whether he was interested in participating in a Jihad and would Tamerlan have even lied about it if asked?

The Russians had repeatedly warned that Tamerlan was a threat. A look at his text messages would have confirmed it. Regular monitoring of social media would have given early warning to his plans to go Jihadist.

Tamerlan got his wish to die for Islam because the people who should have been paying attention to Muslim terrorists in this country, weren’t.

A frightening look at the root of our intelligence failures.

Russian authorities warned the Obama administration repeatedly — not merely once — that Boston Marathon bombing mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev could be an Islamic terrorist, but those admonitions went unheeded in Washington, D.C.

It’s a depressingly familiar tale of intelligence failures, official lies, politically correct posturing, and bureaucratic bungles coming from an administration that has little interest in protecting Americans from the Islamic terrorist threat, a danger President Obama refuses even to acknowledge.

Time magazine previously reported that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) warned the U.S. government about Tsarnaev a single time two years ago, after he frequented a radical mosque in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, during a six-month visit to that politically unstable, jihadist-friendly Russian republic. The mosque is reportedly a terrorist hangout.

But the Boston Globe now reports there were several such warnings.

On Tuesday, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee were told during a briefing closed to the public that Russia made “multiple contacts” with the United States regarding Tsarnaev, including “at least once since October 2011,’’ Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told reporters.

The FBI previously acknowledged its investigators interviewed Tsarnaev in early 2011 but did not determine him to be a threat. He was not placed on the “no-fly” list.

As FrontPage reported last September, FBI agents aren’t allowed to treat individuals associated with terrorist groups as potential threats to the nation.

The fact that a terrorism suspect is associated with a terrorist group officially means nothing, according to the FBI document, “Guiding Principles: Touchstone Document on Training.”

After first handcuffing FBI agents investigating terrorism, the “Touchstone” document also invokes the gods of political correctness by making agents afraid of asking useful questions that might produce actionable information.

“Training must emphasize that no investigative or intelligence collection activity may be based solely on race, ethnicity, national origin, or religious affiliation,” the Touchstone document reads, borrowing some language from civil rights legislation.

“Specifically, training must focus on behavioral indicators that have a potential nexus to terrorist or criminal activity, while making clear that religious expression, protest activity, and the espousing of political or ideological beliefs are constitutionally protected activities that must not be equated with terrorism or criminality absent other indicia of such offenses.”

It’s not that much of an exaggeration to say that the FBI could not have done anything about Tsarnaev unless he strapped on a suicide vest in front of them, called them “infidels,” and detailed his abominable plans. Diverting attention away from the Obama White House, the Boston Globe article fatuously editorializes that the new revelation of multiple warnings from the FSB raises “new questions about whether the FBI should have focused more attention on the suspected Boston Marathon bomber.”

After the closed-door briefing, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) criticized the multiple intelligence failures.

“This is troubling to me that this many years after the attacks on our country in 2001 that we still seem to have stovepipes that prevent information from being shared effectively,” Collins said, without elaborating.

Tsarnaev’s name had been entered into the “Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment” (TIDE), a classified database created after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and maintained by the National Counterterrorism Center. The system holds files on about 450,000 people U.S. officials regard as known, suspected, or potential terrorists worldwide.

The system is so large U.S. investigators do not routinely keep tabs on every individual listed there, according to a Reuters report. That explanation, however, seems a bit too convenient. The alternate explanation unexplored in the news item is that the Obama administration doesn’t care about terrorism.

This isn’t the first time someone flagged in the TIDE database has later been involved in an Islamic terrorist plot against the United States. Somehow Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Nigerian “Underwear Bomber,” got onboard a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines plane on Christmas Day 2009 and tried to blow it out of the sky.

Months earlier his father, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, a prominent banker in Nigeria who visits the U.S. frequently, warned U.S. authorities of his son’s growing extremism and the possibility he might be involved in something untoward.

U.S. government officials said they didn’t put Abdulmutallab’s name on a “no-fly” list because they didn’t have sufficient derogatory information about him. In January last year he received four sentences of life imprisonment plus an additional 50 years.

Meanwhile, the Boston Herald reports that Massachusetts taxpayers were subsidizing the Boston Marathon bombers and their almost comically dysfunctional family as the two Tsarnaev brothers immersed themselves in the world of Islamic terrorism.

In the lead-up to the Boston attack he masterminded, now-decommissioned terrorist Tamerlan Tsarnaev added insult to injury by living large on state welfare benefits, leeching off the good people of the Bay State he despised so much.

“The news raises questions over whether Tsarnaev financed his radicalization on taxpayer money,” the newspaper observes.

Killed by police last Friday, Tamerlan received welfare benefits from an unknown start date until 2012. His wife and their three-year-old daughter also received those benefits. Tamerlan and his brother, the now-hospitalized bomber number two, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, also received welfare through their parents when they were younger.

Although Massachusetts Health and Human Services spokesman Alec Loftus said the Tsarnaevs “were not receiving transitional assistance benefits at the time” of the marathon bombing, he refused to provide details about the benefits the family was given.

Then there is the still unresolved matter of Saudi visa student Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi.

When Alharbi was hospitalized after being injured in the Boston bomb blast, the government reportedly labeled him a “suspect,” but soon watered down that description, calling him a “person of interest,” and eventually a mere “witness.”

But days after Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano refused to answer Congressman Jeff Duncan’s (R-S.C.) questions about the mysterious circumstances surrounding Alharbi (also spelled al-Harbi), she made a startling admission Tuesday while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked Napolitano if Alharbi was on a watchlist, “and if so, how did he obtain a student visa?” She replied:

“He was not on a watchlist. What happened is — this student was, really when you back it out, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was never a subject. He was never even really a person of interest. Because he was being interviewed, he was at that point put on a watchlist, and then when it was quickly determined he had nothing to do with the bombing, the watch listing status was removed.”

If Napolitano has her watchlist facts right, this means the Obama administration puts individuals on watchlists when they are merely questioned as part of an investigation. This seems drastic and presumptuous, and if true, a new cause to alarm civil libertarians.

The media has reported conflicting information about whether Alharbi is or was at one point on the government’s “no-fly” list, and whether he is or was scheduled to be deported from the U.S.

Many questions remain about Alharbi and the confusing paper trail the government created around him.

Glenn Beck’s news website, The Blaze, previously reported that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s National Targeting Center (NTC) created an “event” file on Alharbi under section 212 (3b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the part of the federal statute that deals with aliens involved in terrorism.

Then yesterday The Blaze updated this information, reporting that the NTIC event file described Alharbi as “armed and dangerous.”

“Alharbi was admitted into the country under a ‘special advisory option,’ which is usually reserved for visiting politicians, VIPs, or journalists,” according to The Blaze. “The event file cover page indicates he was granted his status without full vetting.”

Jihadists must be delighted that Saudi nationals will be eligible next year to receive preferential treatment from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) agency when they enter the United States.

Like travelers from Canada, Mexico, South Korea, the Netherlands, and soon Australia, travelers from Saudi Arabia will be able to skip the usual CBP lines at airports by providing their fingerprints and machine-readable passports at an automated kiosk, the Investigative Project on Terrorism reports.

As the CBP puts it, the Global Entry “trusted traveler” program “allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States.”

Given the fact that the Obama administration denies Islamic terrorism is a major threat to the U.S. and has been aiding Islamist organizations in at least Libya, Egypt, and Syria, there is little reason to be reassured when CBP boasts that “[a]ll applicants undergo a rigorous background check and interview before enrollment.”

DHS Secretary Napolitano thinks allowing the Wahhabist kingdom that produced 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers to share in vetting Global Entry speed-pass applicants makes perfect sense.

“By enhancing collaboration with the government of Saudi Arabia, we reaffirm our commitment to more effectively secure our two countries against evolving threats while facilitating legitimate trade and travel,” Napolitano said in January after meeting with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef.

But given Saudi Arabia’s long and odious track record as an incubator for jihadists and underwriter of terrorist operations, perhaps allowing the Saudis to join the exclusive Global Entry club isn’t such a good idea.

Maybe, at a minimum, we should make them wait in line at the airport like everyone else.

How our willful blindness creates a terrain where jihadists are free to plot and kill.

Means, opportunity and motive are the three crucial elements of investigating a crime and establishing the guilt of its perpetrator. Many crimes cannot be narrowed down by motive until a suspect is on the scene; but acts of terrorism can be. Almost anyone might be responsible for a random killing; but political killings are carried out by those who subscribe to common beliefs.

Eliminate motive from terrorism and it becomes no different than investigating a random killing. If investigators are not allowed to profile potential terrorists based on shared beliefs rooted in violence, that makes it harder to catch terrorists after an act of terror and incredibly difficult before the act of terror takes place.

Investigations consist of connecting the dots. If you can’t conceive of a connection, then the investigation is stuck. If you can’t make the leap from A to B or add two to two and get four, then you are dependent on lucky breaks. And lucky breaks go both ways. Sometimes investigators get lucky and other times the terrorists get lucky.

Federal law enforcement was repeatedly warned by the Russians that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was dangerous, but operating under the influence of a political culture that refused to see Islam as a motive for terrorism, it failed to connect the dots between Chechen violence in Russia and potential terrorism in the United States, and because it could not see Islam as a motive, it could find no reason why Tamerlan was a threat not just to Russia, but also to the United States.

The missing motive factor has led to a rash of lone wolf terrorists whose acts are classified as individual crimes. Nidal Hasan’s killing spree at Fort Hood was put down to workplace violence, but workplace violence isn’t a motive; it’s a bland description. The motive was there in Hasan’s background and his behavior; but the military, an organization that by its nature has to be able to predict the actions of the enemy, had been crippled and left unable to see Islam as a motive.

The current working concept is that by refusing to allow our military and law enforcement to identify Islam as a motive, we are stifling terrorist recruitment by preventing Muslims from identifying terrorist attacks with Islam. This ostrich theory of terror assumes that if we blind ourselves to the motives of the terrorists, then potential terrorists will likewise be blinded to their own motives.

Any law enforcement protocol that prevents investigators from understanding the motives of the killers in the hope that this will take away that motive from the killers is absurdly backward. The investigators of terror are not the instigators of terror. A police detective arresting a rapist does not create rape. An FBI agent arresting a terrorist does not create terror. Identifying a crime does not create the crime. It makes it easier for law enforcement and the public to fight that crime.

The insidious infiltration of blowback theory into terrorist investigations has dangerously subverted the ability of investigators to get to the truth and to catch the terrorists. Blowback theory assigns each act of Islamic terror an origin point in our actions. Everything that Muslim terrorists do is caused by something that we did. To those who believe in this linkage, the only way to fight Muslim terror is to stop inspiring it. The only way to defeat Islamic terrorism is to defeat ourselves.

Blowback theory has been dressed up in academic language and expert jargon, but all it amounts to is Stockholm Syndrome with a lecture hall. Its essential postulate is that if we become more passive in our responses, a strategy that is usually described with the complementary term, “smart”, as in “smart war” and “smart investigation”, then the enemy will become more passive in response to our passivity.

Smart wars and smart investigations are those that don’t offend Muslims. The cost of the smart war in Afghanistan has been a very expensive and bloody defeat. The cost of the smart investigation can be seen in the streets of Boston or in Fort Hood.

Defeating ourselves in order to defeat Islamic terrorism is a dead end because we are not the source of that terrorism; we are its target. When we handicap ourselves out of a misguided notion that the best way to fight terrorism is with one hand tied behind our backs and an eyepatch on one eye, then Americans die.

Without Islam as a motive, there is no way to fight the larger threat except as a discrete collection of seemingly random events. What connects a Tamerlan Tsarnaev to a Nidal Hasan to Ahmed in Jersey City or Mohamed in Minneapolis plotting the next attack? The official answer is nothing. One was a boxer and another was an army doctor and the third is just an Egyptian student or a Somali bank clerk. They have no motive in common except that of Islam.

Media accounts have presented various exculpatory motives for Tamerlan Tsarnaev ranging from the possible head injuries he may have suffered as a boxer to the murder of a best friend that investigators suspect he may have carried out. All these motives are irrelevant, not because they may not have some figment of truth to them, but because they stopped mattering once he became what he was.

The Islamic terrorist abandons his individuality and his motives become no longer personal, but collective. To strive to understand him as a father or a son, as a boxer or a doctor, is a waste of time. These biographical footnotes no longer represent him. They are the things he has discarded to become a messenger of death in obedience to a faith that values death more than life.

Without understanding that, the terrorist becomes a cipher, another nice young man who suddenly turned violent, and the trend of terrorist attacks ceases to be a pattern and becomes a rash of horrifying incidents that can happen at any time. If Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev had not carried out their attack at a public event in the age of the ubiquitous camera, then how long would law enforcement have chased down dead ends or searched for the Tea Party tax protesters that the political establishment expected them to find?

Without a motive, there is no place to begin searching. Without Islam, there is no motive. Terrorism denial isn’t just an intellectual error; it is a grave danger to the lives of Americans.

Terrorism denial created a space in which the Tsarnaev brothers were free to plot and kill. Terrorism denial cost the lives of three Americans and the bodily integrity of hundreds of others. Denying the Islamic motive for terror, makes it harder for law enforcement officer to do their job and easier for Muslim terrorists to do theirs.

Experts in the field of interfaith appeasement are still uncertain why Americans think Islam is a violent religion. Many courageous fighters against prejudice have tried to get the word out that Islam is a Religion of Peace. One of them tried to spread the word at the Boston Marathon, but his message was misunderstood and now Americans seem to think more than ever that Islam is a violent religion.

The only way to break this cycle is to convince Americans that Islam really is peaceful and then the peaceful religion will stop killing us. And if that doesn’t work, the government is setting aside a stimulus plan for digging head-shaped holes in the dirt for every American.

Elmirza Khozhugov, 26, the ex-husband of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s younger sister, Ailina, said that Tamerlan Tsarnaev had been enamored of conspiracy theories, and that he was also concerned by the wars in the Middle East.

“He was looking for connections between the wars in the Middle East and oppression of Muslim population around the globe,” Mr. Khozhugov said in an e-mail. “It was very hard to argue with him on themes somehow connected to religion. On the other hand, he did not hate Christians. He respected their faith. Never said anything bad about other religions. But he was angry that the world pictures Islam as a violent religion.”

One of the ways that Tamerlan Tsarnaev respected Christianity was by saying things like: “the Bible is a cheap copy of the Koran” and “the United States goes to war based on the Bible.” It’s clear that Tamerlan was trying to be respectful by giving the impression that Christianity was just like Islam.

Since then a magnificent amount of progress has been made. Americans no longer think of Islam as a violent religion. They think of it as the reason why an 8-year-old boy was murdered.
