		<description><![CDATA[Obama's foreign policy of empty threats and pathetic wheedling. ]]></description>
				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn.frontpagemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Screen-Shot-2014-10-01-at-1.29.25-AM.png"><img class="alignleft  wp-image-242105" src="http://cdn.frontpagemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Screen-Shot-2014-10-01-at-1.29.25-AM-383x350.png" alt="Screen Shot 2014-10-01 at 1.29.25 AM" width="326" height="298" /></a>Last week, President Obama spoke to the United Nations about the growing threat of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. In the course of that speech, he discussed a wide variety of threats to Western civilization, ranging from Ebola to global warming, from chaos in Syria to China&#8217;s incursions in the South China Sea. The speech seemed unfocused, meandering. But it held together thanks to one common thread: Barack Obama believes that words solve everything. Particularly his own.</p>
<p>Obama&#8217;s narcissism isn&#8217;t mere arrogance. It&#8217;s messianism. It&#8217;s pure faith that his verbiage can alter the course of history. &#8220;We are here,&#8221; Obama said, &#8220;because others realized that we gain more from cooperation than conquest.&#8221; Well, actually, no — the United Nations exists because evil nations were forced through conquest to admit that cooperation might be a more advantageous strategy.</p>
<p>&#8220;While small gains can be won at the barrel of a gun,&#8221; Obama said, &#8220;they will ultimately be turned back if enough voices support the freedom of nations and peoples to make their own decisions.&#8221; Not exactly — millions of voices in North Korea have not altered the fate of those stuck in the world&#8217;s largest gulag, nor have millions of voices in Iran freed them of the tyranny of the mullahs.</p>
<p>&#8220;The ideology of ISIL or al Qaeda or Boko Haram will wilt and die if it is consistently exposed, confronted, and refuted in the light of day,&#8221; Obama spouted. If good argument killed bad argument, Islamism wouldn&#8217;t be on the march, but on the ash heap of history. Global politics, it turns out, is not a Harvard Law mock trial.</p>
<p>&#8220;We believe that right makes might,&#8221; Obama summed up, &#8220;that bigger nations should not be able to bully smaller ones, that people should be able to choose their own future.&#8221; Hogwash would be too kind a word to describe this sort of highfaluting idiocy — if right made might, millions of Jews would still populate Europe.</p>
<p>In reality, right dictates that right arm itself — right must become might in order to emerge victorious. Americans know that.</p>
<p>Because Americans know that, Obama must occasionally bow to reality. And so, in the same speech in which Obama called for Russian, Chinese and Syrian conflicts to be resolved through diplomacy, he uttered the most un-Obamaesque comment of his entire presidency with regard to ISIS: &#8220;The only language understood by killers like this is the language of force.&#8221;</p>
<p>This is eminently true. It is also so far out of Obama&#8217;s wheelhouse that he almost strained an oblique in making that statement. And, in fact, when polling doesn&#8217;t apply to him, Obama is happy to pressure other nations not to use the language of force — in the same speech, Obama pressured Israel to negotiate with its enemies, even though its enemies are of the exact same ilk as ISIS. If Obama does not bear a striking animus for the Jewish state, the best that can be said is that he wants Israel to be on the cutting edge of Western civilization&#8217;s rhetoric-first throat-cutting. After all, Obama tells Israel, too many Israelis are &#8220;ready to abandon the hard work of peace.&#8221;</p>
<p>Yes, the hard work of peace. With people who want to slit their throats.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the real Obama, not the puffed-chest commander-in-chief threatening to bomb virtually everyone in virtually every country in the Middle East.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s the problem. Lack of foreign policy comes from lack of belief in the principled use of force. And so Obama, the messianic narcissist, vacillates between two extremes: empty threats and pathetic wheedling. Neither works.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Putin's message to "comrade" Obama. ]]></description>
				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><a href="http://cdn.frontpagemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/watch-putin.jpg"><img class=" wp-image-221313 alignleft" alt="watch-putin" src="http://cdn.frontpagemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/watch-putin-450x335.jpg" width="315" height="234" /></a>The current Ukraine situation has led to tense foreign relations between America and Russia, the worst dispute since the end of the Cold War. Even for the conservatives amongst us, it presents a difficult situation, for few of us wish for America to send troops to the region, and there is little that the Obama administration can do against another strong world power that doesn’t involve foreign intervention.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">That said, foreign relations and politics is often about trust and posturing – and this President has done a great job of </span><a style="line-height: 1.5em;" href="http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/ronn-torossian-russia-ukraine/2014/03/01/id/555497/">letting everyone know that America is weak</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">. </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Simply, America is </span>in this situation today because the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, knew he could get away with it.  Putin is a smart man – no raving lunatic like previous adversaries Qaddafi or others – and a strongman.</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">As legendary journalist Bob Woodward noted last year, Obama has no personal relationships with political leaders.  Obama is ineffectual and not likable, and so Putin knew he could take action and get away with it. Obama, who embarked on an apology tour upon taking office, has taken America to an all-time low in foreign relations. The left ignores the fact that America is in a worse place than during the days of their arch-villain, George W. Bush (even amongst traditional close allies – as we learned from UK media, “The special relationship is over”).</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Obama has spent a lot of time lecturing nations on how to act – and succeeded at improving relations with none. In addition to awful political skills, the man has been insulting and disrespectful to numerous foreign leaders, and possesses awful interpersonal skills. </span><a style="line-height: 1.5em;" href="http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/25/us/politics/arab-spring-proves-a-harsh-test-for-obamas-diplomatic-skill.html?pagewanted=1&amp;_r=5&amp;">As an article last year detailed, Obama fails miserably at personal relationships. </a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> The article said: </span></p>
<blockquote><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">“The tensions between Mr. Obama and the Gulf states, both American and Arab diplomats say, derive from an Obama character trait: he has not built many personal relationships with foreign leaders. ‘He’s not good with personal relationships; that’s not what interests him,’ said one United States diplomat.&#8221;</span></p></blockquote>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">He is ineffectual and not likeable – and so Putin knew he could get away with his aggressive behavior. No foreign allies would put their own necks out on the line for someone they don’t respect and don’t like. This President talks too much and does nothing, and </span><a style="line-height: 1.5em;" href="http://frontpagemag.com/2013/ronn-torossian/obamas-legacy-of-disaster/">Obama shall leave behind a legacy of disaster</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Last month, Obama claimed that Putin’s “tough-guy schtick” is usually only done in play to impress the Russians. Oh, really Mr. President? At least Obama was right on the plan to “reset” relations with Russia – they have indeed been reset.  Russia has the upper hand now on foreign relations. Amazingly, only a few weeks ago, Obama, the fool-in-chief, said the Russian president’s “bored, tough guy ‘schtick’ [is] aimed at [an] internal audience.” </span>(He didn’t mention that “internal” stretched beyond Russia’s borders at that time.)</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Embarrassingly, Russia’s deputy prime minister laughed off President Obama’s sanction list, and tweeted insults, asking “Comrade @BarackObama” if “some prankster” had come up with the embargo list. He then tweeted again to &#8220;Comrade @BarackObama&#8221; and asked “what should do those who have neither accounts nor property abroad? Or U didn’t think about it?” Russian senior politicians openly mocking America. Awful.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The 11 Russian and Ukrainian officials who were hit with American sanctions as punishment for Russia’s support of Crimea’s referendum knew this was coming for weeks. And they couldn&#8217;t care less, as it’s ineffectual and means nothing. As another Russian, Vladislav Surkov, told a Russian newspaper, “It’s a big honor for me. I don’t have accounts abroad. The only things that interest me in the U.S. are Tupac Shakur, Allen Ginsberg, and Jackson Pollock. I don’t need a visa to access their work. I lose nothing.”</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Obama’s sheltered experience has been evident during his administration. He doesn’t mind his own business, doesn’t understand the importance of keeping one’s word, and thinks he is still in his Ivy League world.  In Realpolitik, strength breeds peace. American power and strength could allow Putin to step back with victory in Crimea, and call it a day.  Let us hope that’s a possibility and Obama will not bungle the situation any further.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">President Obama is a simple laughingstock. He promised change – the change will be that the world will be a much different place after two Obama terms. Much less stable, and powerful for Western interests.</span></p>
<p>Obama will go down as the worst American President in history.</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Comrade Obama is the world’s laughingstock.</span></p>

We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children&#8217;s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” Indeed, in the era of big government and lack of leadership today, when one looks at what America has become under President Obama, they may not know whether to laugh or to cry.  It’s shameful and terrible.</span></p>
<p>There has not in recent history been a time that American foreign policy has been more in a shambles.</p>
<p>There’s a<a href="http://www.newsmax.com/RonnTorossian/Ukrainians-Obama-Threats-Kiev/2014/02/20/id/553857"> revolution amidst in the Ukraine, and Obama yesterday said</a>: &#8220;I want to be very clear as we work through these next several days in Ukraine that we&#8217;re going to be watching closely, and we expect the Ukrainian government to show restraint, to not resort to violence in dealing with peaceful protesters. We&#8217;ve also said we expect peaceful protesters to remain peaceful, and we&#8217;ll be monitoring very closely the situation, recognizing that with our European partners and the international community there will be consequences if people step over the line.&#8221;</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Given Obama’s record of betraying allies and of breaking his word, the best thing he can do to protect American interests is just be quiet. Rather than breaking promises and doing nothing the man can serve America best with silence. Does he think the Ukrainians didn’t notice Egypt (where he broke promises to Mubarak), Syria (where every red line was crossed), or Iran (where Putin and Iran did as they wish)?</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">On another front, we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare running out of money?  Why is it that those who worked for their money are taxed throughout their life (and then have to face a death tax), yet they wouldn’t be able to have their money in their golden years?  If indeed Social Security is going to run out of money, then why is it that government under Obama keeps expanding and growing (Obamacare), unemployment insurance and bigger and bigger government?  Can it make any sense? </span><i style="line-height: 1.5em;">Do we laugh or cry?</i></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">How is it that in his interview with Bill O&#8217;Reilly, President Obama equated the GI Bill with welfare?  The GI Bill is for blood and tears for defending our great nation. As Scott Taylor, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates said, GI’s &#8220;earn [the benefits] in blood, many of them. This &#8216;entitlement&#8217; if you will is certainly not welfare. It&#8217;s something that our GI&#8217;s have earned and will continue to earn. It&#8217;s contractual; it&#8217;s not like food stamps or disability [payments] that have expanded exponentially under this president.&#8221; Along these lines, The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture is distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever &#8212; to 47 million people, according to the most recent 2013 statistics. </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Rather than urging companies to raise minimum wage, perhaps the government should realize that a job is the best form of welfare. While welfare is necessary in some</span><i style="line-height: 1.5em;"> cases, </i><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">as Reagan said,</span><i style="line-height: 1.5em;"> “</i><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">welfare&#8217;s purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.” “America the Great” under Obama behaves like a European State.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">In any case, I now need to go back to work for the government, as with our current tax codes I work more of the year for the government than I do </span><a style="line-height: 1.5em;" href="http://www.ronntorossian.com/">my PR agency</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The government keeps growing under the impotent leadership of Barack Obama, and it’s awful to watch American honor continue to fall under this Administration. God bless America.</span></p>

The political environment is sickening as Americans are actually debating whether to side with National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, who has been charged with espionage and other offenses.  The man shared military secrets – how could anyone patriotic who cares about America support this?</p>
<p>Some wrongly claim his motive should be considered.  Those concerned with Snowden’s motives should read page 229 of Ann Coulter’s book <i>Treason</i>, where she asks why so often “are liberals consumed with the assailant’s motive. How about: Until we understand why rapists would rather violently rape a woman than take her to dinner and a movie, we cannot respond to the crime of rape.” Naturally, the concept is repulsive &#8211; as is understanding, or justifying the motives of someone who shares top-secret government secrets.  Whether the government is right or wrong, our great republic must be protected.</p>
<p>Former President Bush used to say, “Liberals do not like me talking about liberals.”  And against the backdrop of the Snowden situation, let’s examine the words of liberal President Obama. It has been many years since America has been openly defied by foreign nations in such a high-profile, embarrassing way. Obama criticizing America, and apologizing for America’s behavior – regularly &#8211; broadcasts a weak American image to the world.  It allows an environment where China and Russia openly defy America, and so it should be no surprise that Putin will not extradite Snowden back to the U.S.</p>
<p>The Chinese and Russians can remind Obama when he said America &#8220;has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.” He himself criticized America for acting unilaterally.  They can use Obama’s own words as a defense and encouragement for their actions.</p>
<p>Obama in 2009 said, “Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. I believe that many of these decisions were motivated by a sincere desire to protect the American people. But I also believe that all too often our government made decisions based on fear rather than foresight; that all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions.” Indeed, sometimes the ends do justify the means.  Obama continued with this program to protect America – and shouldn’t speak ill of policies necessary to protect this great country.</p>
<p>Similarly, in 2009 Obama also said:</p>
<blockquote><p>I would like to think that with my election and the early decisions that we&#8217;ve made, that you&#8217;re starting to see some restoration of America&#8217;s standing in the world. And although, as you know, I always mistrust polls, international polls seem to indicate that you&#8217;re seeing people more hopeful about America&#8217;s leadership. I just think in a world that is as complex as it is, that it is very important for us to be able to forge partnerships as opposed to simply dictating solutions.</p></blockquote>
<p>All hot-air from Obama’s White House in retrospect, isn’t it? How’s that partnership going now?  Do these nations have any fear of America? As Ann Coulter wrote in <i>Treason</i>, “For fifty years, America’s foreign policy failures have not been problems of “national dialogue” or “preventative” action or the national psyche. There is one simple problem: Democrats can’t handle foreign policy.” World nations are openly defying and disrespecting America. Awful.</p>
<p>On November 30, 2011, Obama said, “America is great not just because we’re powerful, but also because we have a set of values that the world admires … We don’t just think about what’s good for us, but we’re also thinking about what’s good for the world … That’s what makes us exceptional.”</p>
<p>President Obama was wrong &#8212; America is exceptional because America is a superior country. A superior, Western democracy.  And that is the right answer – not a global village, but an American village with uniquely American values and American interests to worry about.  <i>Do you love your children more than your neighbor’s children and think of their best interests before other kids’ best interests? Do the same with your country.</i></p>
<p>The controversy over<i> </i>Snowden is a major embarrassment for the United States. It is an awful situation on so many fronts from which many lessons will be learned before all is said and done.  As a <a href="http://ronntorossian.blogspot.com/">Public Relations executive</a> who earns his living counseling executives on messaging and the meaning of words, I hope amongst the lessons learned is that the President of the United States of America no longer spends time criticizing this great republic, sending a weak image worldwide.</p>
<p>P.S.: Could anyone doubt that if Snowden did this when Bush was President of the United States, all the media would say he is a hero?</p>
