In this new episode of Live Up To Freedom, Anni Cyrus interviews Michael Finch, author, poet and President of the David Horowitz Freedom Center about his powerful new book, A Time to Stand: The Dire Hour to Defend American Beauty.
Michael unpacks what’s truly at stake, why the culture war is no longer theoretical, and what every patriot must understand and do before it’s too late.
Don’t miss it!

Very interesting discussion between Mike Finch and Anni about
Europe losing its confidence as a civilization since WW I because
of a failing belief in God. Really propels me to obtain a copy of
his book ‘A Time To Stand” .
Why have European people lost their belief in God? I think over
the last century or so, people have become more literate and
exposed to science. They were not so quick as in the past to
believe in implausible miracles or angel appearances or that if
one died on a Friday after eating some meat, one would burn in
hell forever. Also, foolproof birth control via The Pill for the past
sixty years – out of all of human existence – gave people a way
out of the inevitable hardscrabble life to raise large families and
an opportunity to broaden horizons for everyone. Europeans
actually experiencing both world wars – upclose and personal –
impacted spiritual beliefs as well.
So why is believing in God so important? Why does its absence
result in a crisis of confidence for a civilization like Europe?
Because a belief in God invariably leads to a belief in Jesus whose
teachings generate ideas of individual freedom and following one’s
conscience – ideas that are anathema to Islam and Communism.
Humans have a need for spiritual transcendence – to aspire to an
ideal higher than themselves. If Charlie Kirk is any indication, we
modern people are beginning to realize that Jesus is that ideal.
Just in time for a showdown with seventh-century Islam – whatever
path it takes.
