This time, it was in France, in the mediagenic and normally placid commune of Yerres, where the painter Gustave Caillebotte once lived. Gilles Cohen was returning on a Saturday from a mikveh, a Jewish ritual bath. From behind someone assaulted him, and then hit him hard in the face near his eye, shouting curses at him, as he rifled for money and a key to the synagogue. Why did the assailant want the key? To vandalize, to steal from, possibly to set fire to the Jewish house of worship. A 67-year-old Jewish man was assaulted in the French town of Yerres (Essonne) on Saturday morning, local media reported on Sunday evening.
According to reports, Gilles Cohen, who was wearing a kippah, was on his way back from the mikveh when he was ambushed from behind and beaten.
The attacker shouted “Dirty Jew, we will kill you!” before searching Cohen in an attempt to “find money and the keys to the synagogue.”
The Évry prosecutor’s office told TF1-LCI that a passerby intervened and rescued Cohen.
Antoine Léaument, LFI MP for the constituency, said, “The insults uttered during this attack leave no doubt about his antisemitic motive. The perpetrator of this heinous attack must be found and tried.”…
It’s good to see Antoine Léaument, an MP from the far-left party La France Insoumise (LFI), that has so often been involved in protests against Israel, making clear his sympathies for Gilles Cohen, and his outrage at the “antisemitic motive” of his attacker.
It’s been quite an epidemic, these murderous attacks on French Jews — Ilan Halimi, Mireille Knoll, Sarah Halimi, Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and his two small boys, Myriam Monsonego, the four shoppers at the kosher market, and so many more — and especially on rabbis in a half-dozen cities. In every case so far, the perpetrators have been Muslims, though this is seldom mentioned in the media accounts. But everyone knows this without having to be told. Five million Muslims are now living in France. Five million people who are taught by the Qur’an and hadith to hate the Jews, whom the Qur’an describes as “the strongest in enmity” to the Muslims.
Now we must wait to see if the assailant is found, given a sentence that fits the crime, not a slap on the wrist, but at least a year or two in prison and — most important of all — finds that once he has served his sentence, he will be promptly deported to his country of origin.

1) I never said that Jews cause antisemitism. But Jews are always the target.
2) I wasn’t condemning the victim. I would love to see teenaged boys and men in their 20s and thirties learning Krav Maga. And a little less Talmud. Even elderly men can “bulk up”. I see it at the gym all the time.
You can curse me all you want but I will not be anyone’s victim. If you are beyond tired then do something about it. Teach these kids to fight. This is America. Anyone can buy a gun for self protection. And there are plenty of training courses. They can join ‘Jews Can Shoot’. Or join the IDF.

Laura, I think you misunderstood Intrepid’s intentions here. At least I think that he / she does not want to see Jews being attacked and hurt. At least, I hope his intentions were good and sincere.
Thank you for that. You are correct. But my point was you have to prevent attacks. That means figuring how not make yourself a target. It’s tougher in France because you aren’t allowed to defend yourself.
It’s different in this country. you can buy a gun. You can take self defense classes.

Treppy – NOW why don’t you tell folks wearing crosses to stop wearing them so they don’t advertise their Christianity, eh? And tell Muslims to stop wearing their myriad variations on headwear so we don’t know they practice Islam. Tit for tat, after all.
Unfortunately, here in England some workers, for example nurses, have been told not to wear crosses because it might offend non-Christians.
The hatred that muslims and commies have for Christians and Jews is unending and never satiated.
And to remind myself, the muslim chant is ‘first the Saturday people, then the Sunday people’. What the commies fail to remember is what happened to their fellow commies in Iran after the 1979 revolution; the muslims killed many of the commies who had helped them come to power.
Also, people forget such atrocities as the Munich Olympics massacre of Israeli athletes and Leila Khaled and the PLA plane hijacks. Not to mention Leon Klinghofer. Or the Children massacred in the Manchester Arena by muslims. Or the recent Southport slaughter of children by a muslim. Or the most recent deaths of two Jews at a Manchester Synagogue by a muslim shouting the usual battle cry to their pagan god. Or the mass slaughter of Christians in Nigeria by muslims, or the slaughter of the Druze and Christians in Syria by muslims.
muslims don’t need an excuse to murder infidels, it comes with the ideology. There is no compassion or forgiveness in islam.
What you’ve written is absolutely true. Islamists are raised from birth to hate. If everyone who loved Israel, and I mean the righteous doctrine Christians, would wear kippahs or Stars of David, perhaps we could outnumber this scum.
Remember Master Sergeant Roderick “Roddie” Waring Edmonds? He and his men were held in a German prisoner of war camp and the commandant demanded that Edmonds give up his Jewish soldiers. When the demand for them to come out was given, all of the men went out and Sergeant Edmonds told the commandant, “We are all Jews.” In doing so, he saved the Jewish soldiers. Edmonds was from Knoxville, TN, and there are plaques downtown in honor of him.
I tell the few Jews I know to stop being obvious targets. One doesn’t have to be a walking billboard for Judaism. I don’t say anything to Christians because, in this country, we aren’t getting attacked. That may change if we don’t get serious about the Muslims.

I apologize for posting that there is no mystery why Muslims, in a large-enough cohort, will do something evil and stupid, like the above attack. We Christians have to root them out in those areas where we find them. Locally, we have the establishment of a Coptic Christian Church for a large area. They have taken over an abandoned Protestant church, not very far in miles from a Muslim mosque. The various Christian holy days are kept, Tuesday mornings?, and this group is applying for a planning dept exemption or some such ruling for expanding the church property. God love them. They have 4x as many adherents on Sunday as do the local Episcopalians!
Violent Islamic Radicals should be serving Life In Prison No Parole, Plea Bargains, Clemency or Pardons Lock them up and throw away the Key

I don’t understand why Jews don’t arm themselves. Hidden carry. Open carry. Defend yourselves. Help is always too late in coming. What is stopping you ? Have a retired military of police come to Synagogue and train in the art of self defense using small arms. You be the deterrent that makes these evildoers think twice before attacking. Wouldn’t you prefer going to the funeral of tone of these creeps than going to the funeral of a family member or friend?
Way past time to get with the program. I’d love to read a headline that says…”Jewish grandmother shoots Muslim attacker with weapon hidden in her wheelchair” (or similar).
