Amazon founder Jeff Bezos didn’t really buy the Washington Post to keep democracy out of darkness or whatever, he bought it to build influence and decided that the Resistance branding was poison in the post-woke era of the second Trump administration.
His staff doubled down.
So he tried bringing in editors and people from conservative British papers and Washington Post staffers worked to sabotage them.
The ongoing battle over the Washington Post between its actual owner, Jeff Bezos, the 2nd wealthiest man in the world, who paid $250 million for it, and the staff, show that, at least when it comes to the media, the question of ownership is about more than who legally owns it.
The usually hands off owner intervened aggressively, ordering the paper not to publish an endorsement of Kamala Harris. In response, an editor-at-large, columnists and editorial writers left, and and other columnists including some with extremely checkered reputations like Karen Attiah, at the heart of Qatar’s Jamal Khashoggi influence operation, Max Boot, whose wife would be indicted for acting as an unregistered foreign agent, and Jennifer Rubin, who was practically on Biden’s payroll, wrote angry columns protesting the non-endorsement.
The Post featured these diatribes prominently. Post columnists, including its alleged ‘humor’ columnist Alexandra Petri (married to the paper’s current deputy opinion editor), took shots at Bezos in his own paper. The paper promoted ‘outrage’ by readers who threatened to cancel their subscriptions for ‘threatening democracy’ as if the average Post reader were likely to vote for anyone but the ‘D’ even if he were the devil himself.
Truly fed up now, Bezos announced that the new missions of the editorial page would be “personal liberties and free markets” and contended that “these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion.” Opinion page editor David Shipley resigned.
But now Bezos, the head of a company that was notoriously casual about firing top people at Amazon, is demonstrating who owns the paper by firing a third of the staff, over 300 people, and the media is raging and weeping.
How Jeff Bezos Brought Down the Washington Post – The New Yorker
The Murder of The Washington Post – The Atlantic
‘It’s an absolute bloodbath’: Washington Post lays off hundreds of worker – The Guardian
How exactly did they think this was going to end? Bezos is many things, but a weak sister isn’t one of them, and he didn’t spend $250 million WaPo to maintain it as a place for entitled jornos to defy his interests and badmouth him.
Trying to give him the Bari Weiss treatment and setting off a power struggle for the paper was the worst move they could have made. If they had waited a few years, Bezos would probably have flipped and they could have gone back to doing their thing. Instead they launched a power struggle with one of the wealthiest and most ruthless men in the world that was only going to end one way.
Bezos actually owns the paper. The staff doesn’t. And doubling down is more likely to radicalize Bezos who never seemed to be political anyway. Between CBS News and the Washington Post, the media is losing influence while alienating the companies it’s been abusing to push its propaganda.

Most Americans have totally lost their trust of the M.S. Media bottom Feeders that’s why the Washington Compost is laying off some pf their Workers and no doubt its effecting the New York Slimes as well and the Broadcast Media to a long gap between Huntly & Brickley and the Media Bottom Feeders of today when the Newsrooms had the Background noise of all those Teletypes I can still remember the sound of Teletypes on all those teletypes
Wapo employees were laid off but Bezos firing 300 – one third of the staff(!) – was cool enough to give me a woody.
And the New Dork Slimes DID lay off a heap of deadbeat employees, moonbats all.
Owners are coming to grips with rebellious employees who undermine their bottom line and they’re tacitly signaling that President Trump is hugely popular and all the “woke” policies pushed by the D-Bags are hugely unpopular and actually detested by the vast majority of Americans. Even most of the D-Bag and fake news media liars actually hate the “woke”obscenities they push, not that professional liars like them will admit it or stop pandering to their extremist base unless they’re forced to, like Bezos did.. Lefty editors are being forced to acknowledge “woke” D-Bag oikophobia doesn’t sell although they won’t come to grips with that fact. They’ll eventually go down hissing and spitting, like their idol, Satan.
Eat it, moonbat scum. Trump has only been President for one year and he already has you whipped.
Too bad Bezos didn’t take a physical ax to his rebellious D-Bag staff instead of a figurative one. That would make for a top story.
And that Jew hater, Max Boot, is an even faker conservative than Billy Kristolnacht or the nearly unknown Dumvid Brooks ever were. Billdo still pretends to be conservative although he fools nobody, But Shnooks pretended to convert to moonbat territory and actually fooled most of the retards in the tiny audience who watch PBS (Public Broadcast Subversion.)
Boot is a Russian-born Jew and outspokenly pro-Israel. His problems appears to be personal. He was a perfect target for someone (like Korean intelligence) to control via a honey trap because he couldn’t get laid.
The leftwing journalist echo chamber circular firing squad grows ever smaller.
It is almost certain that those still employed at the Post got the message real clear and will behave and obey the boss.
Remember Watergate and “Deep Throat” and Woodward and Bernstein? The big bad WaPo is no mo. That once-raging Deep State rag is just a “woke” whimper now. Whodunit? I blame the Russians.
And that was mostly Bull shyte
Yes, “Deep “throat” (some name) lied extensively. Watergate was really about getting lists of prostitutes who’d been used by Republicans.
Whatever happened to Max Boot? I remember when, years ago, he wrote some good things for National Review. But then, National Review was a different publication that it is now, which is why I cancelled my subscription.
He used to write some good things, but in the Trump era he went painfully wok.e. Search some of my posts about him here
He wrote for “Foreign Affairs,” too. Another periodical which began to suck many years ago.
Well, Winston Smith can breathe easy. The low-level clerk and member of the Outer Party will keep his job down in WAPOs Adjunct Records Department of the Ministry of Truth.
After all, the need for rewriting and airbrushing party history and disappearing former comrades down the memory hole has never been greater.
Hard to feel sympathy for those who lost their jobs.
I feel schadenfreude over it. 🙁
As the saying goes “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.
Testing Bezos proves the stupidity of the staff. Bezos could close the place and never miss it. I hope he is able to bring it back to its former glory but even he may not be able to overcome the moonbats in the media. Good luck Jeff!
It is just incredible how these “journalists” think that they OWN the Washington Post and can act like they can do anything they want. Add to the fact that when Jeff Bezos fired these recalcitrant employees and the rest of the mainstream media acted like Joseph Stalin took over the press. These “journalists” fail to understand and appreciate that a newspaper is a BUSINESS that exists like any other business on profits by selling as many newspapers as they can. It seems that a lot of these “journalists” think they are still back in high school/college writing for the school paper. By the way I am no fan of Jeff Bezos because he has financially backed people that have ruined this country but, on this situation, he did right because had this been McDonald’s, Starbucks, or any other business, the boss would have fired these toxic employees.
