Monday was a festive day, with the whole world seemingly celebrating the dawn of peace in the Middle East and hailing President Trump for bringing it about. The president himself, while speaking about the release of the hostages in his speech to the Knesset, promised a bright new world unencumbered by past hatred and animosities: “After two harrowing years in darkness and captivity, 20 courageous hostages are returning to the glorious embrace of their families. Twenty-eight more precious loved ones are coming home at last to rest in this sacred soil for all of time. And after so many years of unceasing war and endless danger, today the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises on a Holy Land that is finally at peace.”
Trump proclaimed not just the end of the present war between Israel and Hamas, but of an entire era of war: “This is not only the end of a war. This is the end of an age of terror and death, the beginning of the age of faith and hope and of God.” He said that the cessation of hostilities heralded ” a very exciting time for Israel and for the entire Middle East,” and added that “the forces of chaos, terror and ruin that have plagued the region for decades now stand weakened, isolated, and totally defeated.”
Swept up in the excitement of the occasion, Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana said: “You, President Trump, are a colossus who will be enshrined in the pantheon of history. Thousands of years from now the Jewish people will remember you. We are a nation that remembers.”
It is likely that President Trump will indeed be remembered thousands of years from now, for he is a transformative figure who has reshaped national and international politics. Whether he will be remembered, however, as the man who brought about “the end of an age of terror and death” and “the beginning of the age of faith and hope and of God,” however, is another question altogether.
During his Knesset speech, Trump touted his ability to make deals, and he has certainly demonstrated that ability in bringing about the current ceasefire. But the best dealmaker in world history would not be able to make a deal that would end the Islamic jihad imperative.
Imagine some bizarro alternative where some future president of the United States was pro-murder, pro-theft, and pro-adultery, and desired accordingly to stamp out the Ten Commandments. Even if this rogue president were able to find Jewish and Christian leaders who would sign his agreement banning the Ten Commandments, other Jewish and Christian believers would continue to hold them and act upon them.
The requirement to wage jihad against unbelievers and bring them under the hegemony of Islamic law, which ensures that Islam will dominate and not be dominated, has just that status among Muslims: it comes from the supreme being. It is neither to be questioned nor negotiated away. Those who grant this point but insist that jihad is primarily, if not solely, the spiritual struggle within the soul of the believer to conform his life to the will of Allah are credulously accepting the apologetic half-truths and distortions that Islamic spokesmen have propagated in the West in order to foster complacency and cast resistance to jihad as “bigotry” and “Islamophobia.”
The reality is that jihad in the Qur’an is clearly martial, with repeated exhortations to kill those who do not believe (2:191; 4:89; 4:91; 9:5; 47:4) and the stipulation that the Muslim warrior must give a fifth of his war booty to the messenger of Allah (8:41). In an interior spiritual struggle, there are no spoils of war.
This imperative will remain, no matter what Hamas has agreed to with President Trump. The bellicosity coming out of Gaza as they celebrate what they claim is a victory over the last few days is clear enough evidence of that. Even if Hamas ceases to exist as an organized group, another jihad group, or a multiplicity of them, will take its place.
This is not to say that Trump should not have acted to rescue the hostages, although the price — the freeing of 250 jihad terrorists, many of whom will certainly go back to work — was extremely high. Maybe the relief of their families after two years of heartache, and of the hostages themselves after two years of torment, is worth any price. But amid the euphoria, let’s not get carried away. The jihad is not over. This is no time to deceive ourselves into thinking that it is, and let our guard down accordingly.
Throughout human history peace always achieved on the battlefield and not negotiation table. Peace is byproduct of victory, where the victor imposes its will on the defeated. Since in this war there is no clear winner also there no peace. All Trump got is HUDNA. Temporary ceasefire.
BTW this is not a war between HAMAS and Israel. Is between Muslim supremacists vs the infidels. If The Arabs wanted, this conflict could have been settled in 1948. But didn’t and never will. Every time Arabs waged a war against Israel and lost. They got a HUDNA, and wait until opportune time to attack again and again. This peace deal is no different than all past failed agreements. Even could be worst than all previous ones combined. What Trump achieve is postponing the inevitable region wide -worst world wide- war.

As much as I support President Trump and wish to share in his optimism, however, declaring that “the age of terror and death” has ended is, frankly, naive and delusional. The age of terror and death is far from over and what was signed today is not a miraculous “peace deal” but a myopic pipe dream. It pains me to sound like a killjoy, but we need to face a very sobering reality, not be divorced from it. According to the surrounding Muslim nations, there can be no “peace” until Israel is destroyed. As long as this Islamic hatred of Israel continues to ferment and terror continues to flourish all across these nations and beyond, there will be no peace. Only the end of Islam and its wicked lawlessness can allow true peace. And its end will surely come when the Messiah — the Prince of Peace Himself — returns in power and glory to destroy it.

In what world does someone get everything they want in negotiations? Here is another point of view: Trumps #1 priority was to get the hostages or their bodies home. That was achieved. His 2nd priority was to get the world to agree that Hamas and its ilk is causing so much trouble that they are holding up peace in the Middle East. If one Psycho Muslim bombs any city in Israel or opens fire on Jewish soil, Israel and America are justified in retaliating with extreme prejudice. The supporters of Hamas or Hezbollah are now seen by the world as antagonists to peace. In the meantime, America and Israel can resupply their weapons and prepare for the next event that is likely to happen. The 3rd reason this deal is good is because the brave pilots of Israel and the American bombers took out the defense systems in Iran. The supporters of terror have lost their money and weapons. They may be able to resupply Hamas with weapons, but now it will be at their own peril. If they resupply Iran, they will pay a heavier price. To destroy your enemy, you first isolate them and then destroy them. This was the plan of Trump from the beginning. As soon as this peace agreement is violated, and it will be, Israel will be totally justified is destroying the terrorists.
Trump is well aware of the nature of the Muslim psychopaths, and he is no doubt getting prepared for that eventuality.
This agreement on its face value is simply giving Hamas enough rope to hang itself. But the IDF and other warriors in Israel are certainly exhausted for the last two years of war. and would welcome a cease fire even it is temporary.

When getting the hostages back is more important than making your home safe one has to wonder what are these people thinking. Certainly not of the future, that’s for damn sure.

I see all of the “I Know Better Than Trump” losers are out in full force today, replete with pronouncements about he should do this but he didn’t do that and I could do better, and Trump is just so horrible.
If he’s so bad and you shmucks are so much better and smarter then go do your own damn ceasefire deals.
Now Mr. Trump has to require all Muslim’s living in America to sign a pledge to honor American laws and values. Refusal equals immediate permanent deportation within his preferred 72 hour time limit. Very few will do it because their allegiance is to Islam and Allah only, so they will have to go bye bye.

there will be no peace while the offspring of ishmael and esau inhabit this planet . peace will only occur when they and all their sympathisers are annihilated . jews, gentiles and muslims . 2 thirds of the worlds population will die during the great tribulation . i will let you do the sums . time to make sure you are not in that crowd .
Any HONEST soul knows this was just a deal to free hostages.. VERY sad to free actual terrorists as a ransom. One can HOPE for some respite for any decent people left in Gaza and any improvement by Arabs of that sadly bereft land under Hamas/ jihad control (destruction), but we don’t put much realistic ‘money’ on that. Lord, strengthen the resolve of Israelis to TRUST in YOU alone.
This may be cynical but I think there was a calculation by Israel that releasing the 250 “lifers” and 1,700 gazans was done with the realization, and hope, that most of them will eventually be killed when hamas violates the ceasefire and Israel responds and finishes annihilating those 7th century barbarian enemies of civilization.
