“We’re saying Merry Christmas again!” President Trump declared recently, referring to the politically correct social pressure Christians sometimes feel to downplay the holiday greeting in order to be more “inclusive” of non-Christians. For decades now, as the culture has become more secular, references to Christ have been gradually drained from the season celebrating His birth: schools have changed “Christmas break” to “winter break”; Christmas tree lighting ceremonies have become “Winter” or “Holiday” tree lightings; and most notoriously, “Happy Holidays” has replaced “Merry Christmas” in many chain stores, advertisements, and corporate settings.
Some claim that the idea of a “war on Christmas” in America is overstated – that’s debatable – but there unquestionably is one being waged in Europe: a war of attrition, as the surging Islamization of the continent formerly known as Christendom further marginalizes a Christianity already in steep decline. As globalist elites like the leadership of the European Union prioritize avoiding offense over preserving heritage, Christian symbols and nomenclature are increasingly sidelined or excised. And as mass Muslim immigration reshapes demographics and imports jihadist violence to the continent, Christmastime now brings more security concerns than holiday joy.
Below are four examples from just the last month alone, in which Christmas markets or celebrations in Europe have been either fully shut down or placed under significantly heightened security measures due to elevated terror threats. These stem from ongoing concerns about incidents like the 2024 Magdeburg attack in which a Saudi refugee living in Germany killed 6 people and injured 338 others by plowing his car through a Christmas market. This and numerous past jihadist attacks at Christmas have made concrete barriers, patrols, surveillance, and in some cases, cancellations common:
- The Overath Christmas market, a traditional event in this German town of about 27,000 residents, was fully canceled for 2025. Organizers cited an inability to afford the mandatory anti-terror measures, including barriers, surveillance systems, and extra guards required by authorities after the Magdeburg attack;
- The Warsaw Christmas market has been fortified with extensive concrete barriers and barriers installed around key sites to prevent vehicle ramming attacks. This response to high Islamist terror fears has transformed the event into a heavily patrolled zone, with Polish authorities echoing European-wide alerts for large gatherings during the holiday season;
- France’s Interior Ministry has ordered “maximum vigilance” and enhanced protections for the Strasbourg market, including soldier deployments for visible deterrence, additional checkpoints, and intelligence mobilization. This follows a “very high” terror threat level, referencing the 2018 ISIS-inspired attack that killed five at the same site, with similar vehicle-ramming risks noted across the country;
- Germany is being hammered by soaring security costs (up 44% in three years) due to persistent threats. Frankfurt am Mainhas shelled out £3,480,000 for Christmas-market anti-vehicle and crowd-protection systems. Dresden has spent £1,479,000 on reinforced access protection, mobile vehicle stoppers and perimeter lock-down equipment. It’s unclear in what conceivable way “images” from the Christmas story could be deemed “colonial and discriminatory,” but the obvious intent is the neo-Marxist deconstruction and destruction of Christian tradition.
Imam Seyran Ates, founder of a liberal mosque and a former lawyer, denounced the project as “absurd.” She noted that during Ramadan, traditional lighting is installed for Muslim communities. She also pointed out the growing influence of Islamic practices in German schools, such as gender segregation, enforcing wearing a headscarf, or serving halal food. Meanwhile, the attempt is underway to “deinstall” Christianity from the culture.
One final example: in a Substack post titled, “Hating Jesus In Vienna For Christmas,” author Rod Dreher (Live Not By Lies) posted about “an exhibition of shocking blasphemy” at the Kunstlerhaus museum in Vienna, launched just in time for this holy season. The exhibit features a bearded, trans-identifying, Bangladeshi male clearly intended to portray Mary, the mother of Christ, cradling a baby doll. The “artwork” is titled, “I am the Mother, too.” The exhibit includes other blasphemous pieces as well – blasphemous against Christianity, of course. Curiously, none of the artwork targets Islam.
Imagine European authorities imposing similar cancellations of Islamic celebrations or traditions, or museums hosting artists who blaspheme against Allah and the Muslim prophet Muhammad. It is unthinkable, and we all know why the European elites and “artists” dare not do so.
The aforementioned examples reveal a pattern: what begins as accommodation for newcomers evolves into outright cultural capitulation, in which Europe’s Christian patrimony is deemed too provocative for polite society. The spiritual heart of Christmas—its proclamation of Christ’s incarnation—is being quietly interred beneath layers of multicultural euphemisms and security barriers.
Christian Europe is dying, not from old age, but from a deliberate political choice: the mass importation of millions whose creed regards the public celebration of Christ’s birth as, at best, blasphemy and, at worst, an act of provocation deserving of violent retribution. The secular, globalist architects of this transformation — the likes of France’s Macron, Germany’s Merkel, the EU’s von der Leyen, and the entire Brussels nomenklatura — never asked the indigenous peoples of Europe whether they wished to trade peaceful Christmas markets for counter-terrorism architecture. They simply opened the borders, waved through endless streams of military-age males from a culture that considers Christmas a theological affront, and then smeared any citizens who complained of the new “diversity” as racists and Islamophobes.
The result is a two-pronged erasure of Europe’s Christian soul. The first prong is raw violence and the fear it produces: markets shuttered, events cancelled, public spaces surrendered before the aggression of an enemy already within the gates. The second, more insidious prong is the voluntary “de-Christianization” performed by terrified or ideologically compliant authorities. The message is clear: the public expression of Europe’s founding faith is now conditional on the veto power of its newest and most intolerant arrivals.
A civilization that must surround celebrations of its Savior’s birth with anti-tank barriers and submachine guns has already admitted which religion currently projects the greater confidence, the greater will to power. Islam, in the famous phrase, now appears to be the “strong horse,” which advances not just through force, but through the willing abdication of a waning Christian culture.
Not all the news is grim. In the UK, for example, the activist organization Unite the Kingdom, led by firebrand Tommy Robinson, is rallying believers for a Christmas celebration at Whitehall in Central London called “United For Christ This Christmas.” It will feature “Bible readings, worship, testimonies, and the beginning of a new Christian revival in the UK,” and promises a huge, controversial turnout. But the fact that such a pushback is even necessary speaks volumes about the declining Christian faith in the UK.
The church bells still ring at Christmastime, but they are beginning to sound like a funeral toll for a continent that has chosen suicide by virtue-signaling. Unless the European peoples find the courage to revolt against the anti-European elites and reverse the policies that have turned Advent into a security perimeter, then this year’s canceled markets will become the coming decade’s canceled civilization.

Actually Christmas is a pagan tradition that includes child sacrifice and debauchery. The word “Christmas” is not in the Bible. There is not a single mention of Christmas, or even an annual celebration of the birth of Christ by early Christians. Not a single command in the Bible to get a Christmas tree, or give gifts to anyone, mistletoe, holly, feasting, drinking, sleigh bells, Santa Claus or any of the rest of it. Christmas was actually invented by the Pope in order to merge Roman Catholicism with the pagan Roman empires winter Solstace festival. Believe me, it was unspeakable evil, but so was Roman Catholicism. But keep in mind that there was no such thing as a pope until 350 AD, long after the New Testament was written and much of Christian history was already recorded in the book of Acts. The Pope and Roman Catholicism stamped out Christianity wherever possible to the point that everything except Catholicism had to meet underground and in secret. Roman Catholicism burned Christians at the stake when they attempted to unchain the scriptures from the altar and make them available to the common man so they could read for themselves and find out that priests selling indulgences was evil.
Having said all that, let me hasten to add that if someone wants to bring up the birth of Jesus Christ and they happen to think it happened on December 25th, we should all be quick to explain to them that His real purpose wasn’t to be a cute little baby in a manger, but it was to carry out the act of taking the full wrath of God on Himself that we would otherwise have to bear for our own sin. We should be quick to tell them that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation from Gods wrath and eternal separation in the lake of fire.

If it had been the Pope, then there would be no Christmas celebrations in the Eastern Orthodox churches. Constantine was anti-Semitic, and erased much of the church’s Jewish culture. Luther, being just one man couldn’t challenge Roman Catholicism on every point of heresy. His primary issue was that of salvation by grace through faith. The Lord Jesus Christ wasn’t born in December. If anything happened in December it was the conception, and that was the real miracle of “Christmas.” Though it was in less than sanitary conditions, His birth, in September, perhaps October, was otherwise normal.

This is an interesting one, because while Christmas is most certainly an important part of the culture and tradition of Europe, is it actually a Christian celebration, any more than Easter is?

I did feel for Germany since their history made them feel they needed to accept “refugees”. Sadly, I believe it was always the intent of these muslins since most of them were young men. How evil – how tyrannical – can these European officials get? As bad
it seems as those blatantly murderous Muslims whose Islamic ideology
is rife with subjugation and terror of anyone who isn’t Muslim.
Jesus’ teaching that God sees and loves each human uniquely who must
answer to Him throughout their lives – which requires individual freedom
to do – is totally Christian. And something that doesn’t exist in Islam. No
wonder the European Left wants to eliminate God and Christianity – and
is using barbaric Islam to do it.
