In “Trump May Come to Regret This,” in the March 2 New York Times, Ben Rhodes claimed, “Mr. Trump’s authoritarianism is not abstract. There is nothing stopping him from wielding the awesome power of the United States to serve his own interests, not the public’s,” and so on. As the people should know, this is the same man who sold the Iran deal that is now literally up in smoke.
Born in New York in 1977, Rhodes earned a BA in English and political science from Rice University and a masters in “creative writing” from NYU. Rhodes is married to Ann Norris, who served in the State Department as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs. From 2005 to 2014, Norris served as Senior Foreign Policy and Defense Advisor and Legislative Assistant to Sen. Barbara Boxer, a shrill leftist Democrat and member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Norris wasn’t the creative writer’s only connection.
His brother David Rhodes was president of CBS News from 2011-2019. That proved an asset for Ben, who joined the Obama campaign in 2007, billed as an expert on Iraq. In the May 5, 2016 New York Times, David Samuels profiled “The Aspiring Novelist who became Obama’s Foreign Policy Guru.” The creative writer became “the single most influential voice shaping American foreign policy aside from Potus himself,” and Rhodes “strategized and ran the successful Iran-deal messaging campaign.”
In Rhodes’ narrative, the deal began in 2013 with an Iranian“moderate” faction led by Hassan Rouhani. In reality, it started in 2012, “many months before Rouhani and the ‘moderate’ camp were chosen in an election among candidates handpicked by Iran’s supreme leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.” For Rhodes, the deception was an easy sell.
“The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns,” quipped the creative writer. “That’s a sea change. They literally know nothing.” As Samuels noted, Rhodes proved adept at “ventriloquizing” reporters and could “shape the news” from the briefing podium, with help from “force multipliers” Rhodes didn’t name.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was formally announced in July 2015. In 2016, Obama sent a plane load of cash to the Iran’s Islamic regime. Trump canceled the Iran deal but for Obama, John Kerry and such, it remained in force, even as the regime ramped up development of nuclear weapons. In August, 2023, Samuels revisited the issue in “The Obama Factor,” an interview with David Garrow, author of Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama. Garrow, a Pulitzer Prize winner, found the Iran deal “offensive and puzzling,” and noted Joe Biden’s “continuing attachment” to the JCPOA. Samuels was all over it.
“The easy explanation, of course is that Joe Biden is not running that part of his administration. Obama is. He doesn’t even have to pick up the phone because all of his people are already inside.” Samuels cites, among others, “Lisa Monaco in Justice. Susan Rice running domestic policy. It’s turtles all the way down. There are obviously large parts of White House policymaking that belong to Barack Obama, because they are staffed by his people, who worked for him and no doubt report back to him.” The marathon interview revealed a reality more disturbing and ongoing.
In 2016, this writer’s Barack ‘em Up: A Literary Investigationrevealed that Obama’s Dreams from My Father, was a roman à clef, a novel. In Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama,” published in May of 2017, David Garrow revealed that “Dreams from My Father was not a memoir or an autobiography, it was instead, in multitudinous ways, without any question a work of historical fiction,” and “its most important composite character was the narrator himself.”
A reporter told Garrow it was all cooked up by the composite character and “Obama’s Narrator” David Axelrod, who in Believer (2015) describes himself as a great storyteller. Jump ahead to 2018, and the publication of Rhodes’ The World As It Is: A Memoir of the Obama White House.
Rhodes reported to David Axelrod, “a brilliant strategist who weighed in on every issue.” Dreams from My Father “is a kind of Rosetta Stone to Obama’s life and world view,” and Rhodes reread it “a dozen times.” No reference to Garrow’s revelation that it was fiction.
Rhodes is “proud of what I’d done over the last year, with the Cuba opening and the Iran deal.” The 2016 Samuels article comes up and Rhodes talks about creating an “echo chamber,” with reporters “saying things that validated what we had given them to say.”
Rhodes describes Obama as “symbol for the aspirations of billions of people.” In July, 2018, the composite character called The World As It Is, “one of the smartest reflections I’ve seen as to how we approached foreign policy, and one of the most compelling stories I’ve seen about what it’s actually like to serve the American people for eight years in the White House.”
The composite character’s A Promised Land, released in 2020, contains only a single mention of Dreams from My Father, whose black poet “Frank” is the Communist Frank Marshall Davis, who was also a pornographer. He disappeared from the audio version of Dreams and all subsequent books by the composite character and his wife. Davis “Communist background plus his kinky exploits made him politically radioactive,” explained Garrow in Rising Star. So the Dreams author, born in 1961, needed the “historical fiction” about the Kenyan foreign student who allegedly “bequeathed his name” to the American.
Trouble is, in all his writings from 1958-1964, now housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York, the Kenyan Barack Obama makes no mention of an American wife and son. So no surprise that the composite character never read the material.
In The World As It Is, Rhodes proclaims Obama “a symbol for the aspirations of billions of people.” He was born in Hawaii, “a former U.S. colony,” and “lived in Indonesia after a U.S. supported coup initiated bloodletting that killed hundreds of thousands of people.” Muslim populations “had high expectations for president Barack Hussein Obama with Muslim relatives,” and “Jakarta offered a venue for him to talk about a more tolerant brand of Islam,” and so on. Seven years after his puff piece on Rhodes, David Samuels was on to it.
“There was something about this fictional character that he created actually becoming president that helped precipitate the disaster that we are living through now,” Samuels told Garrow. His control of the White House was happening “outside the constitutional framework of the U.S. government, and yet somehow it’s been placed off the list of permitted subjects to report on” and “if you question it you are some kind of nut.”Contrast Gus Hall voter John Brennan, the fictional character’s pick to head the CIA, who regards jihad as “a holy struggle in pursuit of a moral goal,” and “not necessarily synonymous” with violence.
As Brennan also explained in Undaunted: My Fight Against America’s Enemies, at Home and Abroad, “I was deeply impressed with Obama,” and in addition to financial contributions, “I wanted to explore other ways to help him get elected.” Brennan always considered the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, “to be one of the Obama administrations crowning achievements” and a “boon to Israel’s security.”
Obama was a “rock star” to CIA employees, explains former CIA analyst John Gentry in Neutering the CIA: Why US Intelligence Versus Trump Has Long-Term Consequences. Obama “paid no attention to specific operational needs,” and his “focus was domestic and his motive was clearly political.” This is the same CIA that failed to prevent 9/11 and Islamic terrorist attacks from Fort Hood in 2009 to Orlando in 2016, all with massive loss of life. This is the same CIA whose former leaders, including Brennan, signed the letter calling Hunter Biden laptop “Russian disinformation,” which help the fictional character gain a third term under Joe Biden.
There is no fake like Obama, and Axelrod and Rhodes are his prophets and protectors. Never a uniter of the American people, the fictional character embodies the leftist-Muslim axis like no other. Barack Obama was the president of CIAmerica, a kind of Soviet Amerikastan that puts criminal illegals above legitimate citizens, alienates the nation’s allies, and caves to the nation’s enemies.
If President Trump is to restore the real America, the partisan deep-state forces – especially in the CIA and FBI – must be exposed and prosecuted to the full extent. This term may be the last chance to put things right. The people will be watching.
