MSNBC Asks Historians to Liken Trump to Hitler, Finds the Comparison ‘Imperfect’

MSNBC, which now calls itself MSNOW but is still serving up the same far-left propaganda as always, is enraged that President Donald Trump has dared to be critical of Somalis and Somalia. The network announced no plans to relocate to Somalia or even to open an office there, but it did reach out to several historians, trying to get academic support for the left’s increasingly tired insistence that Trump is the new Hitler. To the surprise of Philip Bump, the journalistic propagandist making the inquiry, however, the historians, although leftist themselves, declined to go along as enthusiastically as the network clearly hoped they would. Instead, they admitted that the comparison was “imperfect.”

“I reached out to a number of academics,” Bump recounts, “with backgrounds in the history of that era in Germany. Not all were willing to speak on the record, but those with whom I did speak did generally agree that while the comparison was imperfect, it was not completely unfair.” Not completely. After all, both Hitler and Trump were carbon-based life forms who drank water and breathed air.

Nevertheless, Bump pressed on. He got University of Maryland Professor Emeritus Jeffrey Herf to say: “One thing that the Nazis demonstrated to all the racists who came after them was that it’s extremely important to attack the most vulnerable, smallest, least powerful group in the society, which were the Jews. So the attack on the Somalis — or like Vance’s attack on the Haitians in Ohio — are a perfect example. You take a very small group of people who have no political power or have very little clout or influence, who themselves are alien or strange to a lot of people, and then you attack them. Because they have no power, they can’t fight back effectively.”

Herf ignores, of course, the fact that the Somalis actually have a great deal of political power and influence. They have a member of Congress who puts the Somali people, not the American people, first. Another Somali came close to being elected mayor of Minneapolis, and the man who defeated him regularly pays his obsequious respects to the Somali community. The Somalis in Minnesota were well-placed enough to carry out a massive billion-dollar fraud scheme. To claim that the Somalis in Minnesota are marginalized, powerless, and voiceless is leftist fantasy and propaganda, as is any comparison between Trump and Hitler.

If, however, leftists want a Hitlerian president, they need look no farther than Old Joe Biden. MSNBC never uttered a word of protest when the Biden regime tried to establish the abortive Disinformation Governance Board, which would have policed speech that dissented from the leftist establishment’s perspective. Nor was she apparently kept awake when Biden apparatchiks sicced the FBI on angry parents protesting at school board meetings, worked with Twitter (X) and other social media giants to silence and deplatform people with opposing views, and even sent spies into Catholic churches to keep tabs on pro-lifers. Jackson seems to have happily slept through all that.

Nor did we hear from Philip Bump or anyone else at MSNBC when Biden delivered his infamous red-and-black speech of Sept. 1, 2022. In fine Hitlerian fashion, Biden claimed that “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” He and his henchmen backed up those words by weaponizing the justice system against their principal opponent, doing everything they could to mire Trump in so much legal trouble that he had no chance of winning the presidency again in 2024.

It didn’t work, obviously, but that wasn’t for want of trying. If Barack Obama was, as he has been called, the post-American president, Old Joe Biden was something even worse than that: the anti-American president. His was the first, and so far the only, presidency to employ banana republic tactics against its opponents, and to use authoritarian measures to silence dissidents.

Who else did that? That’s right: a certain chancellor of Germany from nearly a hundred years ago. MSNBC, of course, isn’t really interested in history, or in sounding the alarm against authoritarianism and totalitarianism, at all. All MSNBC wants to do is destroy Trump, just as the Biden regime tried so hard to do. If leftists are looking for fascists, they should look to themselves.
