Some people see the glass as half full while others see it as half empty. Some however see the drug trafficking boat as 79% full of drugs while others prefer to view it as 21% drug degree.
Sen. Rand Paul falls into the latter category and tried to make a compelling argument against taking out drug cartel boats by publishing a Coast Guard letter and arguing that “Coast Guard records show that prior to the reign of “blow-them-to-smithereens” 21 percent of boats stopped off the coast of Venezuela possessed NO drugs!”
Whew. Only 79% of the boats had drugs.
The senator doesn’t show his math but he appears to be using the statement by the Coast Guard that “three of the 14 vessels interdicted near Venezuela had no illicit contraband on board when interdicted, but one of the three violated other U.S. federal criminal statutes.”
That’s a pretty small sample size.
And the sum total of it is that out of 14 vessels, only 3 didn’t have drugs and only 2 weren’t committing crimes.
The whole thing is meaningless anyway because the Coast Guard isn’t carrying out air strikes on boats. The military strikes are coming based on intelligence, not routine intercepts, yet even the routine intercepts are damning as hell.
The laws of the sea are complex. There is something about being required to pick up survivors.
The laws of survival are simple, There is something about killing the enemy.
I just wish that Rand had the same love for American citizens that he has for communist Venezuelan drug runners.

Rand Paul has been voting with the democrats a lot lately. He always has pure as wind driven snow ideological reason. Ideologues are useless in a fight.
Rand Paul only votes against Trump when Trump violates free market principles.
Of course Rand Paul will stand up to Trump’s attacks on free trade. Paul is a free market guy.
Now I’m not aware of any instances where Rand Paul actually sided with dems and voted for left wing policies.
And actually, we do need to be ideologues when defending free market principles. I wish more republicans would stand up to Trump’s idiotic protectionist schemes.
Rand Paul is too isolationist to be effective in opposing America’s enemies.
On balance I value Rand Paul’s actions, but his jackass decisions to be a libertarian purist only when it’s time to shit on the floor gets tiresome.

Another example is Sen Kennedy introduced a bill to halt pay of Congressmen & Senators whenever a shutdown occurs.
Idea was simple: when congress feels the pain, they tend to act with an actual sense of urgency.
But Rand Paul thought an opportunity to be frugal while incentivising Congress was an odd idea . . . or thought it’d affect his own wallet.
The other two boats might have been ferrying cartel members of some rank around national land border. If there were more than the usual 3 crew (captain, navigator, engineer) that is what I would look for. Unless the Coast Guard get biometric an tattoo they are not going to know which fish slipped through their nets.

They are not so rich the they do a pleasure cruise on a “go fast” with 3 outboard engines. It does not fit the amount of discretionary income you have for that economic level.
If true then the onus is on those boat pilots to read the news and know what’s going on. Getting blown to bits is one of the consequences of being an ignorant dumb ass.
Three engine power boats coming from the same nation, headed in the same direction with weapons in clear view of satellite surveillance and ariel confirmation are not innocent.
President Trump has the courage and common sense to do what past POTUSs have not because they were compromised cowards on the take. With their lying press secretaries going before the press gaggle with lies, excuses and circle back.
President Trump is the first POTUS to have transparency with not being afraid to meet and handle the media press and have monthly Cabinet meetings live streaming.

That the Left is so upset and agitated over a “second tap” to eliminate drug dealers and drug distributors just shows how the Left ignorance has outproduced common sense. These “eliminations” are nailing it. I can add only ONE suggestion: Instead of an “immediate second tap”, I’d wait around until the drug dealer’s “rescuers” showed up, then “86” them all! To Hell with “human dignity and rights” when these animals are killing U.S. citizens by the multiple thousands. It’s about “Sending a message”. You transport drugs, you die. Simple, no?
