There’s not much democracy in California. Between ballot harvesting, top-down control and a state so gerrymandered that 41% of the Republican voters have virtually no representation, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that he’s preparing a plan to abolish what’s left of democracy in California. The goal is to reduce Republican representation from 9 seats to 4 or 3.
Now remember this is in a state where Trump won 38% of the vote, but where Republicans have only 17% of the seats, which Newsom would like to bring down to 5% or 7%.
Newsom does have a ‘democratic’ problem here. An actual democratic problem in that Proposition 11, a move backed by Schwarzenegger, liberals and various liberal ‘sorta Republicans’ (and violently opposed by Pelosi and the Dems) created a semi-independent redistricting commission. The commission doesn’t work very well, but it’s better than the alternative.
And to executive his dream map, Newsom now needs to sideline or bypass the commission which is illegal, but legality is a minor point when you control the political and judicial system. The current plan is to try and convince ‘voters’ to set aside the commission or just ignore the commission and redraw the districts anyway so that over 40% of the state is reduced to 5% representation.
At that point, what really distinguishes California from Venezuela except better beaches?
If Gov. Newsom goes ahead with his plan to politically disenfranchise half the state, it may be time for the federal government to step in and to treat California like the third world Communist dictatorship it aspires to be… and liberate it.

It’s really difficult to see our country’s most beautiful state has literally fallen deliberately by newscum. You are another uninformed, ignorant retard that knows nothing about the building process. Once again for the retards, this is how it works. You can’t issue a building permit without a set of plans. You can’t get a set of plans without buying a set which means working through an architect who in turn will sub out all of the engineering aspects of the house, like plumbing, electric, HVAC, framing, etc, etc. You can’t do that until you have financing in place, OR PAY CASH, which few people have at their disposal. And most people are still struggling with their insurance companies, waiting for a payout before they decide if they want to REBUILD or sell the lot and simply move somewhere else.
Once you get a set of plans, it has to be reviewed by the city/county planning department before they get approved. They may force the architect to make changes and then it has to be resubmitted for final approval. Then and ONLY THEN, can you get a permit and that is after you pay a whole host of fees in conjunction with receiving the permit. After that, you have to find a contractor to build the house.
Listen you dumb idiot. NOBODY runs around with a set of plans in their backpocket in case their house burns down. DO YOU HAVE A SET of PLANS sitting in your safe deposit box in case YOUR house burns down?

They all have the floor plans from their previous house, and could just rebuild identically, with small upgrades for code changes. The delays are solely for the government to steal all the properties and install low income (and low moral) housing.

Yes, I actually have a set of plans for the home I currently live in which is 45 yers old. But, those plans might not pass current CA building codes. And, yes, for the most part your correct on the building permit process. It’s just too bad LA county won’t help smooth-out the process for those caught in this unpredictable quagmire. My daughter was a permit tech and contractors loved for her to help them because she took the time to help, rather than hinder. But in todays world if the your paper work is not perfect they will rudely turn you away.

Well, suppose some state was 40% black residents, but the election laws were such that the preferred candidate of these voters would win only 5% of the time — gerrymandering, ballot harvesting, lack of polling places, what have you. Wouldn’t the civil rights division of DOJ put the state’s election offices and elections under Federal supervision?

There is a precedent. Among other things, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 required federal approval of districting in Southern states. The part in question was eventually struck down because it was based on 4 decade old data. I could see a formula based not on race (which should be illegal) but a ratio of district circumference to district area and applied nationally.
Looking around at some states, the district maps have gotten ridiculous (e.g. Maryland’s district 4 and 5).

Great idea! I was born in Eureka up in Humboldt County. It was a great place to grow up in the 60’s and very early 70’s. Then my family was hit with some economic difficulties and we had to move to Arkansas and move in with my Mom’s folks who had moved there in 1968. Talk about culture shock! I just had two more years of high school left and after it was over I joined the USAF under the delayed enlistment program. It was great to get out of there and see some of the world: Kirtland AFB, NM; RAF Mildenhall for 3 years, TDY to Sembach AB, Germany, and then back to Kirtland again. Got out in 1979 and the rank of E-4 SGT. Missed ,making SSGT by one point. Rats!
California is a one party state and it’s rigged to stay that way, right down to the county clerks who refuse to accept any recall petitions for Newsom.

As a 67 year-old who grew up in California I am in favor of revoking its statehood and forcing it back into America. California isn’t the only state that would benefit from this.

When was the last time Gavins mental acuity was checked? I think it should be required of any and all elected in power and especially when they are affecting the lives of over 30 million people, not to mention the drain on the other states in the union. Gavin has a crazed look in his eyes and his behavior is erratic. He flip flops on issues and lies with ease. He and his wife are grifters and masters at misappropriation of funds.
