Past Republican administrations and congressional majorities lived in terror of a government shutdown. Dems were able to get anything they wanted, despite Republicans sometimes controlling all the branches of government, simply by threatening a shutdown.
The Trump administration did what too many Republicans had been terrified to do. The shutdown is here and it turns out not to be a very big deal.
At least when the Obama White House isn’t specifically ordering the National Park Service to terrorize elderly hikers and roping off every federal property with yellow crime scene tape that says REPUBLICANS DID THIS.
That’s only a slight exaggeration.
A government shutdown was always a phantom menace. It can make life inconvenient for federal employees, but when it isn’t specifically being weaponized by the White House, its impact on average Americans is limited.
And considering the high cost of federal spending, a successful shutdown showdown has the potential to significantly improve the lives of Americans.
And the people on Medicare are being paid by President Trump’s booming tariffs. Not that I give a shit.
I notice the D-Bags in Congress didn’t take a pay cut. Filthy, pestilent pustules that they are.
No politician should ever get paid during a shutdown these people have one job to come up with a budget and they can’t even do that.

I noticed when I didn’t get my oh so generous welfare payments for September and October. I got a lawyer to sue the fuckers into paying out. It only took one day, ha!
There are a lot of nice lawyers out there and most of them seem to be hot chicks. Scumbags like Jack Smith makes them all look bad.
Gurantee it is indeed “a big deal” if you are a member of the military, who were not going to be paid until President Trump’s intervention. And don’t forget the air traffic controllers who are not being paid…if that isn’t a “big deal,” then nothing is.

Military yes, DOD no. Bases are staffed by contractors whose programs are already fully paid, with a skeleton government presence. The remaining contractors are furloughed as well with no back pay while their fed counterparts will be back payed.

I don’t like that Our Military is held hostage by a “budget”! THAT should be the FIRST BILL to be passed! We can’t do this every three months or when the DEMOcrats are dead set on DESTROYING Our Nation until they get their way!
You all do realize the government folks furloughed will be paid 100% back pay, right? Despite what Trump has threatened the federal union has already initiated steps to block Trump’s threat of no back pay.
Meanwhile they are treating this like a vacation and laughing in our faces. In Maryland, where a large part of the population work for the government, golf courses in the surrounding D.C. counties are reporting increased attendance.
When the rest of the US gets furloughed, there is no back pay and no one looking out for us.
The Republicans need to get tough on the Democrats and force them to Actually Filibuster. Make them talk 24/7, put cots in the aisles, etc.. just like in the old days. They might last another week or two of that, at most.

I went today to my place of contract-government employment, an FAA Terminal Approach Control facility, and it looked like a morgue. Controllers, in place but not paid, are showing signs of irritation and subtly reducing services.
No paychecks, or letters of promised back pay, are impacting their mortgages, utilities, debt payments, insurance and other family necessities.
Now we have Democrat Congress folk saying in effect, “We’ll let the planes fall from the skies [before we budge on health care for illegals.]”

The only people that I’m aware of who are hyperventilating about the government shutdown are the MSM, rich liberals and democrat politicians. They should all take a chill pill and sit down and STFU.
