Honestly, if you don’t live in New York City, why do you care about New York City? You probably don’t, but you still can’t escape talk of the race for mayor because, well, most national news organizations are based in Manhattan and what happens there matters to them, so they force it on you.
That being said, who runs the city does matter to the country to some extent, though much less now. Back when the stock market was a physical place where people piled onto the floor to throw pieces of paper all over each other as fortunes were made and lost, NYC mattered. Now it’s mostly done on a computer or even a phone while the brokers collect massive commissions and bonus checks in between lines of blow in Miami.
The financial hub of America ain’t what it used to be, to say the least, or at least as important a location.
That being said, taxes and regulations can still screw things up; it’s just more localized than it used to. That’s good – a mistake in New York City has less of a chance to ripple to where you live, which is why I’m content to let the city destroy itself.
You can only warn someone that what they’re about to do will be bad, if they choose to do it anyway…that’s on them. When that stupidity is electing a radical leftist, I simply cannot bring myself to care.
Zohran Mamdani is probably going to be the next Mayor there – a radical leftist with no real-world experience and stupid ideas that have failed everywhere they’ve been tried. The boob seems to think making buses free will make things better and lead to fewer attacks on bus drivers, because (somehow) the urge to stab someone for not having a couple of bucks for a fare will fade away if the mentally unstable don’t have to pay. What once was a haven for normal people to avoid insane homeless people – getting on a bus that the crazy person won’t pay for, therefore won’t be able to follow you – is now going to be their mobile home/nap station. What could go wrong?
A lot can and will go wrong, and so be it. If these people vote for it, they deserve all the body lice they get from it.
What’s more likely to happen is fewer bus riders, because who would want to sit near the junkie soiling themselves on the way to or from work?
I’m not sure they thought this through. I also don’t care. It’s the job of voters to think things through and demand answers. New Yorkers are going with the snake oil salesman who is selling the same crap Bill de Blasio sold them, only this time with a smile. If you’re willing to be a moron for a smile, good luck to you.
There are people arguing that Curtis Sliwa, the Republican perma-candidate, should drop out to give Andrew Cuomo his best shot at beating the anti-American anti-Semite, but polls show, at least as of now, that wouldn’t be enough. Sliwa is arguing Cuomo should get out, but after multiple failed runs for mayor that barely registered on the radar, his argument is an empty one.
There doesn’t seem to be anything to be done to save New York, so let it die. Let it suffer. Yes, it will suck, but Republicans should use it as a cautionary tale for other areas of the country rather than spending any time trying to “save” them from themselves. Spend time insulating the rest of the country from New York’s economic suicide to prevent the results from metastasizing throughout the country.
It’s not everywhere or everyone’s reason for existence to be a positive inspiration for others; sometimes, people are needed to lead lives as cautionary tales. It’s not often that a city does it, let alone our nation’s largest city, but whatever.
It’s hard to feel sorry for people who willingly follow a madman, so we should let them. Do not help them when it goes sideways, do not fight against it when he implements his agenda and it hurts the people who put him in power; just sit back and watch while reminding every refugee fleeing the city of what they are fleeing and why, so they don’t vote for it again.
It will be a very expensive and painful lesson learned by people who should have learned of the failures of socialism/communism/fascism in school, but instead were preached those poisons as virtues and weren’t smart enough to see through it. You can’t save people from themselves and you shouldn’t even try.
Just accept that St. Petersburg is lost to the Bolsheviks. It will be an expensive lesson that costs millions of lives and lasts 70 years.

If elected, that pain will only begin in NYC, because it will become metastatic moving into other areas and states championing the same, ultimate goal of an Islamic Caliphate. The last one gobbled up swaths of land and countries and it lasted 600 years–the Ottoman Empire.

Two million illegals have self deported on top of the millions that ICE has deported,so far. Trump,Homan and ICE will not be deterred. Maybe if we started requiring a passing grade on an elementary civics test,nothing too elaborate,for citizens to be able to vote we’d get the correct portion of the population choosing our representatives because New York is a fine example of idiotic people,unfortunately,having the ability to cast votes. It’ll bring the country down eventually.

Unfortunately, I live here and I am heartbroken over what is about to happen. The Dem party is mostly a failure in NYC and run by radicals. The GOP exists only in a few enclaves. Sliwa has no business running for mayor – city council, yes, but not mayor. I am repelled by the Mamdani supporters.
The Mamdani supporters are made up of immigrants that have been flooding into NYC since the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which has led to Africans, South Americans, Asians and people from the Middle East. Add in the social welfare programs NYC so liberally gives out that attract parasites from around the country.
At a campaign rally hundreds, maybe a thousand or more, NYers showed up and chanted “tax the rich.” This campaign was run on envy! The poor outnumber the rich.
I feel for you, bro. Many people have built their lives in and around NYC, and watching it descend into a chaotic, crime infested, hellhole must be very dispiriting.
Part of the problem is the universal voting franchise. I suggest a literacy test comparable to, say, the citizen test of 100 or so years ago.

Maybe NYC and NYS can ignore the Constitution and put tariffs on all goods and services coming from other states. This way the production will instead need to be done in NY, creating tons of jobs and tariff revenue to boot!
Not quite sure if NY is an optimal place to grow pineapples and oranges but hey, we’re talking creating good paying jobs here. and if those oranges have to be grown indoors that will create even more jobs. Who cares about “comparative advantage.” That’s just Adam Smith mumbo jumbo. “Tariff” is one of the most beautiful words in the dictionary.
If we accept NYC being lost, then we would have to also accept the country losing the battle against Islam and communism. It could soon be a plague spreading across the land; there’s no room for acceptance.
Can’t someone talk sense to Sliwa? He alone will be blamed for the devastating outcome of the election. Does he not see that the ruin of New York will be his legacy?

It would be ideal if Sliwa had the lead over Cuomo, but at this point only Cuomo can hope to defeat Mamdani.
The blame would lie with the voters who put Mamdani into office.
I admit finding it comical that Republicans are hoping Cuomo will be the savior of NYC. Some “stuff” you can’t make up.
The good news is that economists will get more evidence that “intentions are not results.” We’ve had government-imposed price controls for over 4,000 years. You don’t learn anything the 2nd, or 4,000th, time you get kicked by a mule.

The problem is that New York won’t really die in any meaningful sense. It will remain a huge and virulent pustule leaking its viscous fluid all over the landscape.
On the other hand … Mamdani … in his rush to become a citizen just so he could run for office took an oath to “entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity” to any foreign influences of any kind. He has repeatedly showed support for foreign based terror organizations and the terrorist themselves. If there is found to be the slightest trace of taking that oath with any “mental reservation or purpose of evasion” he should be de-naturalized and deported.

Your focus on New York is good, but out here in flyover country, we’re facing the same issue, the DSA take over of Minneapolis city government. Where are Somali Muslim, helped by ranked choice voting is poised to become the next mayor. He will have majority support in the city council.
The growing threat of the DSA is reason to be afraid, very afraid.
