Every time the teachers’ unions, who helped destroy modern public school education, go on strike, they always claim that they’re doing it for the kids, and the media backs up this shameless lie.
But, as always, just follow the money going out of your pockets and into theirs.
UTLA, the LA teachers’ union, probably the worst of them outside Chicago, has had its cash demands met. The ‘teachers’ get richer, so do the politicians they support, workers get poorer and kids get dumber.
The tentative two-year agreement with United Teachers Los Angeles would see salaries rise by 13.86% over two years, depending on experience.
Under the deal, beginning teacher salaries would jump from about $68,000 to $77,000 annually, while those with 15 years’ experience would rise from $113,374 to $125,156.
What’s all that cash going to pay for? Stunning educational results like these.
- 43% of LAUSD students met grade-level standards in English, up 1.8 percentage points.
- In math, 32.8% of Los Angeles students met standards, up 2.3 percentage points from 2023 scores.
- LAUSD proficiency rates in science reached 24%, up 1.8 percentage from 2023.
People say we should pay teachers like NBA players. Maybe the kind of NBA players who lose 3 out of 4 games.
1) Pay them like NFL players. Make a quarter of their salary guaranteed and the remaining 75% performance based. Multiply that 75% by the percent that passes the standardized tests.
2) Include inflation based raises and require all other changes go to the next election for people to vote on.
3) Realize the teacher’s union is a monopoly (which Dems hate – they deter innovation, quality, and cost effectiveness). Fire any that refuse to work for what the citizens are willing to pay and replace them with those that will.
First off,, Bust the CTA out of schools. The alternative is to start charter schools and home schooling. Or your children will be indoctrinated and only know how to protest conservatives, call everyone Hitler if you don’t agree with them and attack their opponents. Reading writing and math skills don’t enter into the picture when you have corrupt a democrat party that is going full blown communist in the schools buying votes for power.

I read somewhere that in the country of India (population 1.46 Billion) that the number of students in their High Honors classes, their best and brightest students, is larger than the entire school population of the United States. We are doomed.
To us a math analogy, the “education” (if you insist on calling it that) the students will receive is inversely proportional to teachers salaries.
Moreover, given today’s society and the advent of social media and AI, there’s little incentive for teachers to teach and virtually no incentive for students to learn anything beyond what’s hot and what’s not and how to use chat GPT.
Junior and senior high schools are functionally nothing more than government (i.e., tax payers) funded teenage daycare centers. Teachers are there as chaperones and crowd control. Hand one of those little “preciouses” a book or a homework assignment and a “teacher” is liable to get cussed out, get their ass kick or shot.
I have a friend who’s youngest daughter is a high school teacher. After 12 years, she’s getting out of teaching and she’s not alone.
To put it another way; among LAUSD students:
57% of them are D and F students in English,
67.2% of them are D and F students math and
76% of them are D and F students in science.
That because massive numbers of the kids are from illegal alien families. Dumb as a sack of hammers and perfect future Human Traffickers and drug dealers. Dump the teachers Union and require performance standards and kids who can read, write and do math.
A six figure annual income may lead the teachers to appreciate MAGA and vote Republican.
Pretty much what it takes to see the benefits of American capitalism.

And statistically, no matter who you are, where you came from, your gender, appearance and other environmental factors, there are always those who achieve, no matter what. This too I know from personal experience 😉
The large city public school district State Socialist Indoctrinators ought to be swinging from a rope. The good teachers aren’t teaching in the large city public school districts. These teachers love talking about surgeries that attach penises to little girls and how we must accept everyone, even a shit eating child molester that also fucks goats and then slash throats as a side gig.
If you reward mediocrity, you get more of it.

In blaming unions, you have hit the nail on the head. I refer to the school teachers unions as the public school mafia. Until we understand that public education is essential, and that teachers should NOT be allowed to unionize and/or strike, we have no hope of fixing this mess.
