2024 was a cultural earthquake but the Left isn’t giving up any of its cultural monopolies. Consider the elite freakout in the media over After the Hunt.
After the Hunt stars Julia Roberts, but is not too dissimilar from a variety of predecessors like David Mamet’s now ancient 1992 play Oleanna which foreshadowed much of the current campus insanity, Philip Roth’s The Human Stain and the recent and much more enthusiastically pro-cancel culture Tar in staging a very theatrical drama about intellectuals caught in a web of lies, manipulation and accusations. The prototype of this sort of thing goes back to French novels, but we needn’t go that far down the cultural rabbit hole.
The tagline for Olenna is “Whatever Side You Take, You’re Wrong”.
You can see it in the trailer here, but the actual play is better than the movie. (Usually is.)
After the Hunt lacks Mamet’s bracing use of language to expose people’s inner agendas. It’s daring, by today’s standards in that dares to suggest that a black lesbian making a sexual assault accusation against a white man might not be fully trustworthy, is actually mediocre, has a history of plagirism and will become a power player leveraging an accusation about an assault that may not have ever happened.
After the Hunt is about #MeToo and cancel culture, but it has no ‘right’ side. None of the characters are really trustworthy. There are some lines that people who want to see a shot taken at smug wokeness will enjoy, but the larger picture is of a broken culture where no one can trust each other.
But that’s enough for leftist harpies, headed by the execrable Michelle Goldberg of the New York Times to descend on the movie. Her ‘external’ clickbait headline is ‘The New Julia Roberts Movie Seethes With Anti-Woke Resentment’.
There’s a few problems with that (beginning with the fact that Michelle Goldberg has a New York Times column which she can use to spew her hatred at the world) including After the Hunt’s pedigree.
The movie was released by Amazon’s MGM which is currently the most woke of any part of the industry. (Yes, more so than Disney.)
Its director, Luca Guadagnino, was a member of the Communist Party. Wokes loved him when he directed Call Me by Your Name about a gay teenage romance. And being an old school Italian leftist, it’s quite possible Luca has no enthusiasm for wokeness or cancel culture, he also hates Trump and American conservatives.
Leftists have fastened on to Brian Grazer, After the Hunt’s producer, an industry superstar, who admitted to voting for Trump. Yes, Grazer produced Hillbilly Elegy (he’s a longtime partner with Ron Howard), but before this he was a Jewish (or half-Jewish) liberal who liked Obama.
Reviews for After the Hunt are predictably bad. And while the movie doesn’t seem all that ‘whelming’, if its message had been the opposite, it would have been an Oscar nominee a few years ago. An industry world in which Get Out won Oscars simply because it hated white people has little credibility when it comes to quality.
Take Harvey Weinstein’s pre Hunting Ground, a nonsense documentary claiming that everyone was being raped on campus (After the Hunt’s title may be riffing on it) which was celebrated even when it got everything wrong.
There’s a reason Oleanna disappeared while Tar was celebrated. The Left has a particular narrative it wants to tell and anything that gets in the way must be shut down.
Any Campus that Blocks Conservative Speakers like Kyle Rittenhouse should get sued big time and name all those who took part in blocking him be defendants in such a Lawsuit
Lose Federal funding.
Of course, all colleges should lose Fed funds.
So … “After the Hunt” is not a completely reprehensible piece of anti-male and anti-White propaganda vomited out from the bowels of the modern Comintern …

A story about a black lesbian making false accusations of any kind …
is too common and banal to my jaded conservative mind to inspire any sort of interest.
In fact, I can only think of something to post because I know you need some engagement here at FPM.
As to black lesbians … the first one I met was in the Army over 45 years ago. Yeah, I know.
She was a professional shirker. I think I could count on two hands the number of days she came to work over a two year period.
Amazingly she was not the one to make false sexual allegations against our NCOIC: That was the Latina shirker.
Yeah, everything was there in the Carter years.
We just didn’t have social media to share it, or to save it, and to prevent it from being memory-holed (86’d).

Most of Jews know that places like NPR and the NYT are lying about Israel. They do not realize that they are lying about everything. They are lying about international and American politics, in book, theatre and movie reviews, in weather reports, and in restaurant reviews.
They would rather have everyone watching leftists Hollywood junk like REDS and The Butler which stared Hanoi Jane as well as leftists kids movies like The Ant Bully
To promote that lackluster movie “The Butler”, Oprah Winfrey thought it’d help to make up a bullshit racism story she experienced in Switzerland.
She claimed a lady refused to show her an expensive handbag, because it would be too expensive for a black lady’s purchasing level.
Oprah’s problem is her fable reached the luxury store, and the saleslady could demonstrate otherwise.
Her manager stood by her (after reviewing store video), and reached out to clear things up.
Oprah nervously ignored her and went mum on the subject, and did so knowing the courtier media would back her up – which they dutifully did.
The story evaporated, and Oprah was spared exposure.
(Of course Oprah could afford a $38,000 handbag; she charges a million dollars to host campaign rallies.)
False accusations are something a man has to watch out for, these days.

In real life the black lady was guilty of false accusation and the Duke Lacrosse team were raked over the media coals and subjected to mob justice.

“Oleanna.” I saw that movie. Boy did I hate that conniving cunt character who destroyed the William Macy character’s career and life just because it gave her a tingle up her leg. Every time she whined “I don’t understand,” a just wanted to punch her stupid head off. And everybody likes William Macy.
David Mamet. Great writer and director. He even wrote an article for I think the NY Times. entitled “why I became a conservative,” or something like that. He just wrote and directed “Henry Johnson” this year, which I’ll have to watch. The last time I checked, he hadn’t done shit since 2023, when he did some play I never saw. I wouldn’t go to Broadway on a bet. Not St Louis, either. They have a playhouse here in San Jose. Hopefully it isn’t gay.
According to IMDB, the guy turns 78 next month so I don’t know how many more movies he’s going to make but Clint Eastwood is 95!!!!! and I don’t think that guy is ever going to die. He owns two restaurants in Carmel CA (beautiful place) last I knew and they both have good menus and food.
I’ll watch “Henry Johnson,” even though I don’t care for Shia Lapoof. Who names their kid Shia? I read he punched out Tom Hardy though, so he isn’t a pussy. Hopefully I can see it in a theater.
