Cea Weaver, Mamdani’s new ‘Tenant Director”, had tweeted that “Private property is a weapon of white supremacy”, “Impoverish the *white* middle class” and “We’ll transition from treating property as an individual good to a collective good. Whites especially will be impacted.”
Also, “elect more communists”.
Mamdani is standing by her because that is literally his agenda.

You make make it harder for apartment owners to raise the rents of their apartments.
You can make it harder for apartment owners to evict tenants who don’t pay their rent.
You cannot force an apartment owner to stay in the rental housing business.

I wonder if Cia Weaver understand anything about property taxes. Tenants don’t pay property taxes; the owner of the building pays them. It doesn’t matter if the building is a huge apartment building or a little one-bedroom bungalow, the owner pays the property taxes. Property taxes are one of the main revenue sources for any city or town. Economic illiterate Weaver would like to prohibit home ownership especially by white supremacists. She doesn’t explain who would be responsible for paying the property taxes.
