“More than half a dozen interviewees independently named one California congressman for pursuing female staffers.” CNN dropped that blind item into its story on sexual harassment in Congress in 2017 as part of its #MeToo coverage and then did nothing with it for 9 years.
Nearly a decade after CNN had the story and sat on it, explaining at the time that it would not name the congressman because “the stories are unverified”, CNN took credit for its “investigative journalism”. CNN’s Brian Stelter told CNN that the rumors had been “circulating for weeks” about Swalwell until CNN published them. He was only off by almost a decade.
In 2020, CNN had time to train its “investigative journalism” on President Trump’s ability to climb stairs and drink water from a glass. “During the same event, the awkward way Trump sipped water from a glass also raised questions. Trump appeared to have difficulty lifting his right arm to his mouth, so he used his left hand to push the bottom of the glass higher.”
That same year, Rep. Eric Swalwell, a politician CNN knew had been accused of sexual harassment, ran for president. CNN made no mention of the fact, instead issuing a virtual press release which quoted Swalwell’s appearance on Stephen Colbert’s friendly late show.
Had “more than half a dozen women” accused Donald Trump of anything, CNN would have had them on within 5 minutes and the story would have been national news for the next two years.
If the stories were “unverified”, CNN wouldn’t have cared. This is the same news network that ran not only “unverified”, but completely false stories that Trump had a secret channel into a Russian bank, that Russian prostitutes had been sent to his hotel room, that there was a tape of them urinating on a bed, that Russia has been blackmailing Trump, and, of course, that Trump had trouble drinking water out of a glass. CNN chose not to verify the story because then the news network would have had to run the story and take down Swalwell. And it didn’t want to.
“Eric Swalwell ending his bid for California governor is, among other things, a testament to the power of investigative reporting,” Stelter claimed. CNN didn’t activate its famed “investigate reporting” on any of Swalwell’s next three congressional races or the time he ran for president.
There’s an unintentional admission here. CNN chose to stop Swalwell when he ran for governor against more ‘progressive’ candidates. Had Swalwell stayed in his lane, running against Republicans, he could have sexually harassed and/or raped as many staffers as he liked.
The only time CNN will try to take down a sex predator from their party is when there’s a political reason for doing so. That’s not “investigative journalism”: it’s opposition research on behalf of progressive candidates and causes, and that is most of what the media does nowadays.
How far back did the media know about Swalwell? Steven Tavares of the East Bay Insider tweeted that, “I’ve covered Eric Swawell since he was a member of the Dublin City Council. Shortly after being elected to Congress in 2013, his behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda County Democratic Party.”
And for 13 years, no one said a word.
“This Swalwell situation was… shall we say widely rumored,” Bloomberg columnist Matthew Yglesias tweeted. There was just no reason to turn those rumors into an actual news story.
Until now.
The media knew about Swalwell. Its ‘journalists’ can’t stop bragging about how they were in the know, while also explaining that they couldn’t run the story because their journalistic integrity prevented them from running an “unverified story” (and a story can’t possibly be verified unless you try to verify it), because “it wasn’t my beat”, because the “women wouldn’t talk” and other excuses none of which would have been an obstacle had Swalwell’s last name been Trump.
That may retroactively explain a strange gambit from Swalwell’s original congressional race in 2012 to unseat former Rep. Pete Stark. Stark took to repeatedly accusing Swalwell of being a ‘secret Tea Party Republican’. The absurd accusation made no sense, but Stark may have gone with it anyway because he knew there was no other way the media would report on Swalwell.
It didn’t work.
The media sat on the story for 13 years. If you believe its reporting about Swalwell now, then it knew that women were being sexually harassed and possibly assaulted and did nothing until Swalwell finally ran against a candidate more liberal than him. But then again why be surprised?
The same media that sat on Swalwell’s sexual abuses for 13 years, also covered up Bill Clinton’s sexual abuses and Hillary Clinton’s complicity in those abuses. Long before that, they covered up JFK and MLK’s sex scandals. And they spent four years pretending that Joe Biden was “sharp as a tack” and that his growing senility was “misinformation” and “deep fakes” until, just as with Swalwell, they got the green light to finally reveal what everyone already knew.
All the while pretending that they were breaking new ground rather than politically pivoting.
Not long ago, the media marked Jimmy Carter’s death by insisting that one of the most corrupt presidents whose involvement in everything from bribes to a Pakistani bank linked to drugs and terrorism to covering up sexual harassment at Habitat for Humanity, was “scandal free”.
There’s no point in being outraged by any of this. The media’s political slippery slope long ago led it from bias to complicity to its transformation into a pure political operation. One would no more expect CNN to break a damaging story about Rep. Swalwell or any Democrat without a political reason than one would expect the DNC or House Democrats to put it in a press release.
The media is the communications arm of a radical leftist movement. It has no allegiance to any principle, ethic or moral beyond its supreme allegiance to advancing the leftist cause.
The moment Rep. Swalwell challenged former Rep. Katie Porter, a truer ‘progressive’, and Tom Steyer, he was on dangerous territory, and when he not only began out-polling them, but appeared to be an inevitable winner, then the time came to bring down the axe. Democrats were worried about too many candidates crowding the race and allowing a Republican to emerge.
Some heads had to roll. And between the Porter campaign, which was surely aware of Swalwell’s antics on the Hill, and CNN, which had sat on the sexual harassment story for 9 years, the time came to dig into the vaults and take down Swalwell for purely political reasons.
No one cared about the women or any of the victims: real or imagined. Their outrage over Swalwell is as fake as their previous outrage over movements members like Jeffrey Epstein and Cesar Chavez whose crimes they had helped cover up until the time arrived to uncover them.
Why didn’t any of those women come forward before? Maybe it’s because they knew they would be treated like Bill Clinton’s accusers, Al Franken’s accusers or Joe Biden’s accusers were.
Every good Democrats knows there’s a right time to accuse someone on your side of sexual harassment The wrong time is when he’s running against a Republican and the right time is when he’s running against another Democrat.

Not sure why Swalwell didn’t simply plagiarize Bill Clinton’s clever, “lawyerly” Denial: “I did not have sexual relations with that Chinese Communist intelligence agent, Miss Poon-Tang, while I was in a meeting of the House Intelligence Committee, nor rape or sexually ‘harass’ any current member of my staff!”
Of course, that depends on what the definitions of “have,” “did not,” “sexual relations,” “meeting of the House Intelligence Committee,” and “sexually harass” are.
As Clinton insisted, “It depends on what the meaning of “IS” is!
Maybe the swall isn’t as smart as clinton.
I am not a Clinton fan by any means but he is infinitely smarter than Swalwell. Swalwell is like that fraternity member who was failing in school and thought he could get through by cheating and schmoozing. Anyone have suggestions for him for his next job? I was thinking as a pimp but then I figured he’d use too much of his own product. How about IRS agent where he could screw everyone (occurs to me this April 14th).
Now that Swalwell is out of the governor’s race, I will have to rely on Katie Porter to provide me with entertainment in the political arena in California – maybe she can top her last bizarre stunt – which was dumping a bowl of mashed potatoes on her husband’s head. She must have received an A in feminism 101 at Harvard.
Katie Porter is a voracious eater – look in her basement you will find bones of children. Katie Porter eats children.
Ex husband. You can see why.
Nothing about our so called ‘free press’ shocks me any longer.🥲
They went after Trump with an unlawful vengeance….and failed…..
Evil simply fails…takes a bit of time but it always fails…
It is the damage is does in the meantime, which is so unforgiving.
“A pure political operation.” Indeed. No matter how much one loathes the synchronized, mainstream, Marxist media, it is never enough. They want a one party state, effectively.
Swalwell was on the House Intelligence Committee. I would think this would require a Security Clearance. In order to get even a “Secret” clearance, one needs to list ALL their closest “associates”, as well as ALL FOREIGN CONTACTS (presumably including their “current squeeze”). They would be investigated and questioned. There is a Form to fill out, to GET this clearance. It is “Form SF-86”, and you can find it on line and fill it out! Now, a “Chinese Spy” in ones background, would disqualify anyone for “Secret”, “Confidential”, the lowest, or even for qualification to walk the POTUS’ dogs; but apparently for “Top Secret”, no problem. News Media have reported on Swalwell’s “squeeze”, “Fang-Fang”, a known Chinese spy. SOMEBODY has given Swalwell a pass. Is there no one that will investigate this? Note that if Swalwell filled one out, and HONESTLY, “Fang-Fang” would be entered on page 59, Section 19 – Foreign Contacts, Entry #1… so, WAS “Fang-Fang” listed?? Did anyone submit a FOIA request?
Trump doesn’t care about the victims of the Epstein Files either…
The Hill Reports:
“Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) claimed in a New York Times profile that President Trump said his “friends will get hurt” by exposing abusers connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.”
“Turncoat” MTG and “Fake News” NYT claimed (without evidence) Yadda, Yadda, Yadda.
Right… sure thing there…
And remember… Kash Patel said there was “no credible information”… but Melania just stated a few days ago that there was a bunch of other men involved in this…
Did you miss her speech? Talking about how “Epstein was not alone”? Are you saying Melania Trump is a lair? Or… not a credible witness?
Do you think Trumps own wife Melania is a “turncoat” too?
…
Get this… Reports are saying…
“Ceasefire’s collapsing so fast they rolled Melania out to run Epstein interference.”
“Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) claimed in a New York Times profile…”
Frontpagmag has a resident comedian.
Evidently… Trump’s wife Melania is Jeff’s sloppy 2nds…
Since Melania knew Epstein a year before meeting Trump… while Melania claimed, in her recent speech, she wasn’t a victim of Jeff’s…
Do you find that one comedic too? Or just sad?
Check your stove, your TDS stew is boiling over
Muggs
Bombing a country on the other side of the globe won’t make the Epstein Files go away…
What is a MAGA simp ??
“Based on common internet slang and political discourse, a “MAGA simp” is a derogatory term used to describe someone who shows excessive loyalty, admiration, or subservience to Donald Trump and the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.”
“The term combines “MAGA” with “simp,” an internet slang term for someone who does way too much for a person they like, often disregarding their own dignity or opposing views.”
…
The only stove we see is… Trump blowing white Vatican smoke up his a$$ as he portrays himself as Jesus the Doctor…
sumsrent:
“The term (“MAGA simp”) combines “MAGA” with “simp,”
You’ve done it sumsrent, you’ve broken Trump’s secret code. Now he’s really in trouble.
Isn’t that amazing?!
I did it without using your comic book secret decoder ring too…
Thanks for offering anyways… simp…
I saw this morning that, now, “Mr.” Swalwell has resigned from congress.
“PLINK” that was the sound of yet another Democrat diving headfirst into the toilet.
More like getting that stuck turd rooter rootered down the toilet
Mr Greenfield you’re an investigative journalist.. I’ve been investigating and can’t seem to find
past articles about Swalwell that you’ve written.. can you help me out?
That “slippery slope” of the media is pretty much universal. All tyrannies make good use of their media. And just as often the hoi polloi learn to hate “journalists” for what they represent. I recall seeing a photo, from around the time of Slobodan Milosevic’s downfall, of one of his journalist lackies who’d been beaten in the street. A few blood spatters on her pink dress.
They were fine with Epstein until they decided to use him as a weapon against Trump. Ever hear of another person being on live chats with members of Congress during impeachment hearings? Epstein was literally on the phone with Democrats during Trump impeachment hearings. Epstein was a Democrat insider.
You sure he wasn’t also a Mossad agent? Mossad’s that good.
In college, we stayed away from the journalism majors. It was only a suspicion then that they were not the brightest among us. Now, I know that they are intellectually lazy and more, disloyal to the country. There are only a very few journalists today who are real journalists.
Agreed. For a free press to work, you need both journalistic integrity and a passion for the truth. Ours lately has become little more than an infomercial.
