[See Part I: HERE.]
The Socialist politicians are coming!
In Minneapolis, Democratic Socialist Omar Fateh is favored to be Minneapolis’s next mayor.
In New York City, bettors say there’s an 80% chance that socialist Zohran Mamdani will be the next mayor.
“We have to continue to elect more socialists, and we have to ensure we are unapologetic about our socialism,” says Mamdani.
But he should be apologetic! Socialism wrecks lives.
My last column covered some of Mamdani’s bad ideas, but he has so many, I needed part II:
Mamdani promises buses “fast and free for every New Yorker.”
Free would be nice, if the city could afford it. It can’t.
And it’s a peculiar proposal from a man who complains about what the government does now: “These are the slowest buses in the country!”
Will they move faster when they’re free?
Public transport is a good example of socialist confusion about what makes things work.
I ask people, “Who do you think built New York’s subways?” Most say: “the government.”
Who else could afford to dig tunnels and buy trains so everyone, rich and poor, can ride? Private businesses wouldn’t do it. They wouldn’t be able to charge enough to cover their costs. That’s why government must do it!
But actually, private companies built most of New York’s subways. The trains only became government-run after 1939, when the capitalists proposed raising the fare from 5 to 7 cents.
NYC’s mayor called that “a grab for the public’s pocket” and took control.
He promised they wouldn’t raise the fare.
But within a few years, the fare was 10 cents. Now it’s $2.90.
And when NYC tries to build new subways, they struggle to get it done.
One train line was supposed to be finished in 1938. Then they said 1980. Today, it’s still not done, but it’s already the world’s most expensive subway.
They work so slowly that subway cars built for it (they cost a million dollars each) can no longer be used; they don’t fit the tracks.
That’s government work.
Mamdani also promises to make workers’ lives better by raising the minimum wage to $30 an hour.
That’s popular. But just dumb.
Last year, California demanded fast-food workers be paid at least $20 an hour. Unions and politicians cheered.
But when companies have to pay even beginners $20 an hour, they employ fewer people.
Pizza Hut laid off 1,200.
Over the next year, while other states added jobs, 18,000 California fast food workers lost jobs.
Customers also get hit. Even “Good Morning America” noticed, “Restaurants in the state have increased prices by 10% faster than all other states.”
Finally, “Freeze the rent!” shouts Mamdani. Socialists like rent control.
Most voters do, too. But that’s because most don’t realize that, aside from bombing a city, little destroys apartment buildings more than rent control.
Saint Paul, Minnesota, imposed rent control in 2021. Multifamily building permits fell by 80%. In Minneapolis, its twin city, building permits increased.
So St. Paul rolled back its rent control.
But now Minneapolis’ likely new mayor wants to impose it? Don’t socialists ever learn?
No.
The vice president of the Minneapolis City council is a socialist. I once asked her, “Where has (socialism) ever worked?”
She was silent an interminable nine seconds.
Finally, she said, “I’m doing a fine job representing my community.”
Her policies would wreck her community.
George Will says he wants Mamdani to win because, “Every 20 years, we need to experiment with socialism” so people can watch it fail.
But can’t the model of failure be what Gov. JB Pritzker is doing to Illinois? Gov. Gavin Newsom bankrupting California? We need a third example?
Sadly, we’re about to get one.
I want to ask my likely new mayor, “How will your socialism succeed when every other, everywhere in the world, brought poverty and misery?”
So far, he hasn’t responded to my interview requests.

Here is the movie about Zohran > youtube.com/watch?v=rEdwm9q40JA
If Zohran Mamdani were the Socialist he claims to be, then why is it he has yet to discard all his wealth and privilege? Why is he not living a life of Mahatma Gandhi, or perhaps Diogenes of Sinope? Because Socialism is but a path to personal wealth, privilege, and power, not a source of altruism and compassion. His Socialist paradigm does not exist, and never has existed.
Really??? He hasn’t responded to interview requests? I shan’t believe it. I simply shannot.
A friend and I were talking about Mamdani and Fateh the other day, and while we both are worried for the populations of both New York City and Minneapolis, we also are both very happy that we live in Ohio and can watch with morbid curiosity like watching a train wreck as it becomes worse and worse.
I’ve been asked if I think that what happens in New York will eventually settle in the hinterlands of the Midwest, and I say it already has. Look at Chicago. Their socialist mayor has completely and totally fucked the dog and has no regrets (or is it regerts?) about what he’s done. I love Chicago. It’s my favorite city in the entire world, but sometimes people need to be reminded good and hard that elections have consequences.
This will be a fun (for me anyways) experiment to watch and I am looking forward to the wailing and rending of garments when those who thought they would be among the chosen are the first to be cast aside when “real” socialism is tried.
Citizens of NY, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Baltimore, Portland, LA, etc., etc., on and on, IF they are stupid enough to vote for these thugs, will richly deserve the consequence they will soon experience.
A Constitutional Republic, in order to survive, requires a certain level of smart in order to comprehend consequences. There is a probability they will vote for gov aid and the false promises of these creeps,
Good Luck!
Will they be stuck with this Moron for far too long?
On a PERSONAL level, let me tell you how it’s failed and continues to fail:
My father worked his entire life running his own business. He purchased, and paid off a small farm with 50 acres. When I, the black sheep (who straightened out my life) was asked by him to move home to care for my mom I dropped everything and did. I hate that I’m forced to live on disability bc of spinal problems but I don’t pity myself and do what God tells me to help others. I gave up my housing which took years of waiting to get, signed up for it in anticipation and cared for mom until she died. Ironically, the very WEEK she passed, I had to decide when a place came up in a neighborhood where predominantly muslim immigrants lived. That was where God taught me how little our classical American lifestyle clashed with them. My kids told me how the immigrants thought, that their parents wouldn’t learn English for fear of losing their benefits and being forced to mingle in our society. How many of the teens thought it was perfectly fine to commit crimes against infidels. The harassment and jeers was nonstop. The last straw was a gun battle in my backyard over a drug deal.
My dad needed me to help him, this time. I moved back to run his house and care for him in his old age. Then, my niece and her family fled from the sponging life they were living at her husband’s father’s “until they could find a rent.” Right. They’ve never left. They live off benefits but don’t work. HE is a HOARDER and my sister and my farm is full of JUNK. They ALL scream at each other, use filthy language constantly, and steal, beg borrow and..did I say STEAL..? Whatever isn’t nailed down. The niece at least mows when they get the gas. My sister and I pay the bills.
If you’d like to see a pic of the niece’shusband, dailymail dot co dot UK has one of him you may have seen. Set in Parsonsfield, ME having to do with a front-end loader and stopping only when the grandson was found to be inside.
THAT’S SOCIALISM
NYC will get their socialism ‘good and hard’. Glad I don’t live there.
Even the city run grocery store closing in KC hasn’t seemed to make a difference.
I forget which article it was but the author said socialism works for about six months, which he called the utopia period. And the reality sets in as the system starts to buckle.
You can vote socialism in, but you have to shoot your way out. That will be tough in a heavily gun controlled city or state.
The only exception seems to be the second Trump administration………for now.
New York City would benefit from a borough breakup, each area going it’s own way.
Socialism is the entree that Mamdani’s NYC will get good and hard. And then comes the dessert: Islam a la mode.
And MamiDammi will enforce it under the 1st amendment
Trust me, in most areas where “security” is in question, those who would be free tend to somehow acquire equipment particularly well suited to preserving that liberty in the gravest extreme. Yes there are new risks associated with acquiring and keeping such tools. But the bottom line favours doing so when the “risk-return” equation is run.
Somewhere there’s a guy who will be needed in NYC if that idiot is elected by the other idiots! A MAN who can come in and take control and do what is necessary to free people from the INSANITY sure to come! A MAN who can use his skills and courage to help people who have been harmed by the “socialist society”! There’s only ONE MAN who can come in and get the job DONE!! Anyone know where SNAKE PLISSKEN is these days??
“Will Socialists never learn”? Actually they do learn. They learn that people fall for the promise of free stuff every time.
We continue to hear that the left has no plan, but their plan is to win by any means, to always have a contingency plan if things go south, and keep a vile piece of skullduggery in your back pocket, just in case.
I hope they both win. In landslides. A city whose citizens are so stupid as to elect these guys truly deservers what they get. And they are going to get it good and hard
The rest of America can watch and learn a lesson that seems to need to be learned every 20 years or so
Just hope we DO NOT bail out those cities when they stick their hands out asking the rest of us for money
A Jew Hating Socialist wants to be mayor of New York and wants to win the election by giving away lots of free stuff to buy votes and raise the taxes on the rich New York Jews he hates to pay for the free stuff he wants to give away to win the election and become mayor so he can put his Jew Hating policies into practice.
What could possibly go wrong?
