New York City is a disaster. I’ve spent the worse part of two decades reporting on that.
Can the city get worse under Mamdani? Invariably. But just take a moment to consider the state of the city from one minor data point.
New York City public schools shed another 22,000 students this year, with enrollment plunging 2.4%, the steepest decline in four years, according to preliminary Department of Education data — and experts say this trend will only get worse under incoming Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.
There were 1,007,610 students in the 2020-2021 school year with a budget of $38 billion.
In 2023-2024, there were 912,064 students with a budget of $41 billion.
The NYC site boasts that per pupil spending is up from around $26,000 in 2020 to over $32,000 in 2025.
The more students leave the New York City public school system, the more the ‘per student’ spending will increase. But it’s not actually money being spent per student, but being directed to assorted consultants, union members and special interests. The fewer students, the more money.

Marxist teachers unions.
On the ‘Madman’i agenda:
Top priority: reading, writing, ’rithmatic
and radicalization – the 4 Rs.
No child in nyc will be deprived of a jihadi education. It’ll cost, but ‘our’ children are worth it.
Here’s a math question: How long will it take for evil to destroy itself?
My calculations may be in error but it looks like the 2020-21 total amount spent less the $26.000 per student leaves an excess of about $12 billion, to go towards other stuff, I assume.
That makes the 2024 allowance for other stuff considerably more.
I suppose the less students the more “other stuff” is needed.
An online celeb rag “hollywood411news.com” gushingly reported that “Mandami’s clear-cut musical talent and lovably brash lyrics in his 2019 rap hit song ‘Nani’, performed under the name ‘Mr Cardamom’, was Zohran’s first and only single of his brief rap career. Nani was adorably dedicated to his own nani [grandmother], Praveen Nair, a former social worker from Delhi. The song features lyrics including: ‘F**k any other Nani says they better than Praveen,’ and ‘Wrapped in a shawl just in case of cool breeze, but you’ll never catch me, better just catch Z’s.’ Mandami told journalists, ‘Once, I was pulling teeth to get an obscure south Asian blog to write about me; now the Financial Times is reposting the video on its social feeds.'” Search “youtube Mr. Cardamom – Nani” to see Mandami’s creepy cringe video.
Mr Cardamom and Nani’s Brown Minstrel Show. Mammy! Mammy! The emperor has no clothes. Turns out Mandami isn’t Pol Pot. He’s Justin Trudeau. A clown prince PR puppet. How did Mandami go from “obscure south Asian blog” to the Financial Times? Same way Trudeau went from drama teacher to Prime Minister. They’re both Manchurian candidates. So who is pulling Mandami’s strings? Who’s putting the words in his mouth? Who’s paying to make him happen? Who’s behind the curtain? Locate his source and attack it and mock it. Use Alinsky’s tactics: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.” Expose Mandami or his next hit song will be a rap version of Richard Strange’s 1981 punk classic “Let’s Flatten Manhattan”.
It all makes sense to me, but can you give us a hint who is pulling the strings? That seems to be an overarching question right now..
Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, Russia??
FPM and others have provided evidence that islamic oil wealth states are one group “pulling the strings” by funding terrorist CAIR groups, university anti-West propaganda, socialist politicians (puppets) like Mandami, etc. Why? To conquer the West and make it an islamic world caliphate as ordered by the koran and to capture all the world’s wealth for islam and its billionaire leaders and their rich cronies. If this is true, then explain this:
A news item today showed “photos on the Trump International Golf Club Dubai Facebook page of the ‘6th annual Staff vs Members’ event.”
Why has Trump been golfing in Dubai for six years while islamic oil wealth funds the islamic conquest of the West on his “watch”? There’s a contradiction there. Can anyone explain it? My guess is that the rich elite ruling class has switched from millionaire Obama’s “democracy” as a pretext for making corrupt islamic oil wealth deals to billionaire Trump’s “trade” pretext as easily as they switch from red wine to white. Either way they win and we lose. Serf’s up!
One thing that struck me, is that people may not realize that teaching the students is a low priority in public schools. The teacher is looked down on as being at the bottom of the totem pole, administrators are higher up. The budget of the administration seems to keep growing and growing.
The NEA the Unions the leftists and the rest. Avoid NYC by all means and never go there again that’s the best way to Boycott them
“The NYC site boasts that per pupil spending is up from around $26,000 in 2020 to over $32,000 in 2025.”
I’d prefer a school district that boasts about student success. Isn’t that the official purpose of schools*? Remember all those “It’s for the kids” quotes?
The teachers’ unions may be shocked at that despite using the “for kids” quote all the time..
Twisting the minds of students could be done more cheaply than this. But they want to maximize the slush fund for “educators. “
You should check out Forsyth County, NC. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools has a nearly $50 million deficit this year. Superintendent retired, moved to Florida, and NO ONE is being held accountable!
