Now, even after the gunman’s motive was posted online, Obama is still doubling down on the same plausible deniability for the right sort of killers.
Obama tweeted, “although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night’s shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy.”
All of us. Both the ones being shot and the ones doing the shooting. We’re all responsible and we should all reject the idea that violence has any place in ‘our democracy’.

On what empirical basis should we not consider tentative, working hypotheses, as tools to push discovery forward? Of course, hypotheses can and should be evaluated through scientifically based falsification, not through simple decrees. What that comment really seems intended to be is cavalier dismissiveness. Why?
