Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, known for his anti-Israel animus and his pro-immigrant views, intends to provide mass amnesty to 500,000 illegal immigrants now in his country, allowing them not just to remain, but to be able to receive welfare benefits from the state and eventually, to become citizens. The vast majority of Spaniards oppose his plan; among those 17 to 25 years old, more than 80% want to stop it. Sánchez doesn’t care what the people want; he’s forging ahead. More on his plan, and the opposition to it, can be found here: “Poll: 80% of Spanish Youth Opposes Mass Amnesty for Illegal Migrants,” by Christian K. Caruzo, Breitbart, April 20, 2026:
A survey in Spain found some 80.5 percent of individuals aged 17 – 25 reject the socialist government’s mass amnesty plans for half a million illegal migrants, the digital newspaper El Español reported on Sunday.
The survey was conducted by the polling and research firm SocioMétrica for El Español between April 15 and 18 — the same week that the socialist government led by Prime Minster Pedro Sánchez began its mass amnesty process to benefit 500,000 illegal migrants in Spain with legal residence and work permits….
Sánchez apparently believes he can ignore the overwhelming will of the Spanish people; he’s no democrat, but an authoritarian, a Franco of the far left. He’ll be running for prime minister again in 2027; that election, and his likely loss, can’t come fast enough.
El Español detailed that, per SocioMétrica‘s findings, the measure is not just overwhelmingly rejected by the Spanish youth, but by the Spanish population in general, with 66.7 percent of respondents expressing to be against the mass amnesty plans against roughly one third of respondents who expressed to be in favor of it.
The rejection is noticeably higher among members of the center-right People’s Party (PP) and near-unanimous among members of the anti-mass migration VOX party, with 85 percent of PP members and 97.5 percent of Vox members expressing their rejection.
Despite widespread rejection to the measure, the Spanish socialist government executed the ongoing mass amnesty plans through a Royal Decree, which allows the socialist government to bypass the need from parliamentary approval, where Sánchez did not had enough votes to get it approved.
SocioMétrica found that 72 percent of respondents expressed their concerns that the amnesty will have a “pull effect” that attracts more illegal immigrants to Spain in the hope of obtaining a residence permit like the half a million that will soon receive said benefits….
Even among those who voted for Sánchez’ Socialist Party, 40% are alarmed about the effect of granting amnesty, which will undoubtedly lead more people to decide to immigrate to Spain, causing even more societal upheaval (between the indigenous non-Muslims and the overwhelmingly Muslim immigrants), more crime (Muslims in Europe have much higher rates of criminality than non-Muslims), and greater expense (Muslim migrants have shown themselves determined to take advantage of every welfare benefit the government can lavish upon them).
Sánchez ignores reality. There is no guarantee that these no longer illegal migrants will. be a net gain to the economy. Nowhere in Europe have Muslim migrants been in a hurry to be employed, many preferring to live on the dole. They lack the skills to do anything except the most menial kind of work. Instead of earning money and paying into the state pension system, many will be taking money from the already shaky welfare program.
And I want to tell the right and the far right who oppose this that Spain is a product of migration and will not be a mother of xenophobia.”
How is Spain a “product of migration”? What can Sánchez be thinking of? Spain is among the countries that historically have been the least affected by migration, or at least it was until the last three decades, when Muslim migrants from North Africa, especially from Morocco, began to flood into the country.
Sánchez will push through his plan, and a half-million illegal migrants will suddenly become legal. But the Spanish people, two-thirds of whom are dead set against this plan, will have their revenge next year at the ballot box, when they vote out the Socialists and likely give the anti-immigrant (or more exactly, anti-Muslim-immigrant) Vox party, now surging in the polls, the victory it deserves.

Spain spent 600 years of effort and blood to get rid of muslims last time they invaded.
I wonder how long it will take this time.
I wonder too. The last time it happened they expelled the Jews as well or forced them to convert. I wonder if the Jews will be included in the inevitable expulsions.
“Spain is a product of migration and will not be a mother of xenophobia.” Right. They opened the door to Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula in the 8th Century. Now they think the “Reconquista” of 1492, was a mistake. They don’t understand the meaning of “Dar Al Harb”. I wonder, what’s the Arabic term for “Useful idiot”?
>wonder, what’s the Arabic term for “Useful idiot”?
Dhimmi
Spain – the Californication of Europe.
The lack of all cultures who do not educate themselves with history, sadly repeat it. If the muslims continue to get a hold of more and more countries, will there be enough people to stand up and throw them out?
I now wonder if Spain’s population agrees with their government not allowing the US to use their airbases or even fly over Spain’s airspace in pursuit of the war with Iran. I would like to see a response of Spain’s population on that subject given President Trump’s warning to Spain, NATO and the EU.
“…revenge next year at the ballot box”? Revenge served cold will be too late. An ounce of prevention is preferable to and eternity of regret.
I wonder if the Spanish males still have enough balls to revolt. Spain was the country where guerrillas gave Napoleon the most trouble.
Sánchez is a Franco of the far left…it would appear that Spain needs a real Franco right now. Unapologetically anti-Communist.
