Buttigieg Peddling Fake Poll Showing His "Popularity" In His Failed City
When Pete Buttigieg touted his 80% election margin in South Bend to Senator Amy Klobuchar, she could have easily shut him down by pointing out that the 80% represented less than 10% of the failed hellhole of a city whose only reasons for existing are Notre Dame and scrap metal.
But, as usual, she was too inept to do so.
Buttigieg has kept touting that 80% margin without ever noting that he only got 8,515 plus votes in a city of over 100,000.
The media cheers that Buttigieg won 80% of the vote. It neglects to mention that it was 8,515 votes. That’s about the 8,369 votes that came in during the primaries. Buttigieg raised $337,161 dollars while his Republican opponent, Kelly Jones, had raised $584 dollars. The millennial wunderkind needed $40 bucks a vote while his unknown Republican opponent managed at around a quarter a vote.
Mayor Buttigieg isn’t winning 80% because he’s universally beloved. That percentage isn’t a testament to his popularity, but to a political system in which hardly anybody except a few lefties bothers to vote.
That 8,515 is pretty much the Notre Dame vote.
Now the Wine Cave candidate is touting a poll that claims he has 88% support in South Bend.
In one of his last acts as both mayor and presidential candidate, Pete Buttigieg commissioned a poll of his own South Bend constituents showing he leads the Democratic field and President Trump in a hypothetical matchup—and that the city’s non-white voters approve of his time in office.
“In South Bend, Indiana, right now, I’m winning,” he said at a stop in Las Vegas. “I don’t know if we’ve pushed that polling out or not. I’m making news right now...I don’t usually get into poll numbers, but I think it’s important to share that.”
Is the poll garbage? What do you think, boys and girls?
The poll, conducted by Change Research from Dec. 16-18, shows that “a significant majority of South Bend voters have a positive view of his tenure in office, seeing real improvements in their day to day lives and the economy as a result of his mayorship,” according to a memo obtained by IMPORTANTVILLE. The pollster used a sample size of 406 South Bend voters, and the margin of error is 4.8%.
Interestingly, the poll targeted 2019 mayoral voters: 88% of respondents said they voted in the 2019 mayor's race—roughly 15% of voters.
Interestingly, the house always wins.
Interestingly, every time I play poker with Bob, he never loses when he uses his own cards.
Interestingly, there's never any bad news reported about Putin in Pravda or Xi in Xinhua or Pelosi in the Washington Post.
This is a poll of the under 10% of the population that already vastly supports Buttgieg. And this poll, incredibly, finds that Buttigieg's supporters... support him.
Stunning news, folks.
Buttigieg commissioned a poll of his own supporters and found that they support him. Good thing the media is reporting this important news.
Why commission a poll of the 15% of voters, 8 out of 10 of whom voted for you? Because you're trying to fake support that doesn't exist.
When a tiny fraction of voters and residents actually voted for you, that suggests there's a problem. And South Bend is one big heaving mass of problems.
“With Pete’s time as mayor coming to a close, the campaign conducted a poll of South Bend residents which found an overwhelming majority have a positive view of his time in office and saw real improvements in their day to day lives,” a campaign spokesperson said. “The poll also found an overwhelming majority of South Bend voters support Pete’s candidacy for president, including a significant majority of voters of color.”
Except that's a lie.
It's only 15% of voters. And it's not a poll of residents. It's a poll of the less than 10% of residents who voted for Buttigieg.
The overwhelming majority of voters again comes from that pool of 10,000 or so out of a city of over 100,000.
Among Democratic primary voters, Buttigieg leads the field with 26%, ahead of former Vice President Joe Biden (18%), Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (17%) and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (16%); 78% back Buttigieg’s candidacy, including 69% of non-white voters; 62% of voters favor Buttigieg in a hypothetical matchup with Trump, who garners 28%.
Good thing that Buttigieg gets 62% support against Trump... in a dataset of 10,000 or so people, 80% of whom voted for him.
The fake poll keeps touting Buttigieg's support among "people of color", but never mentions what percentage of respondents to the poll were minorities.
