In Year of Black Lives Matter Riots, NYPD Injuries Up 47%
It wasn't that long ago that New York City was reasonably safe. Then Democrats got together with Black Lives Matter and turned it into a violent hellhole.
This is the outcome.
At least 472 cops across all ranks have been injured responding to riots and protests since May 28, department data shows. Officers have been shot at, stabbed, assaulted with rocks, bricks, struck by vehicles and had Molotov cocktails hurled at them, officials said.
Of those injured, 319 cops required hospital treatment and seven, like Lt. Richard Mack, who was badly beaten while making a July arrest on the Brooklyn Bridge, were admitted to hospitals.
The 472 hurt cops contributed to 7,528 NYPD line-of-duty injuries so far in 2020, up 47 percent from the 5,133 in 2019, NYPD data through Sept. 24 reveals.
Unsurprisingly, freeing much of the city's criminal element, and then refusing to charge it or lock it up after it commits crimes, has been utterly destructive, and has not only wrecked a lot of people's lives, but also a lot of police officers who have been on the front lines of this war.
This is what happens to Democrat cities. It's what happens when politicians decide to champion criminals over cops and civilians.
