Biden Adds 'Temporary Protected Status' for Haitian Illegals Because of "Poverty"

If you want to see a great example of the insanity of the Democrat immigration system, look no further than Temporary Protected Status.

The TPS classification was supposed to be a temporary response to an emergency in a particular country. Or, specifically, “extraordinary and temporary conditions." It's not supposed to be permanent, except that TPS has become a permanent category.

Stephen Miller in the Trump administration made some efforts to wind down TPS. But under Biden, TPS is once again becoming a permanent stay-in-this-country card. The DHS release shows how blatantly the Biden regime is violating the rules of TPS.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas announced a new 18-month designation of Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This new TPS designation enables Haitian nationals (and individuals without nationality who last resided in Haiti) currently residing in the United States as of May 21, 2021 to file initial applications for TPS, so long as they meet eligibility requirements.

“Haiti is currently experiencing serious security concerns, social unrest, an increase in human rights abuses, crippling poverty, and lack of basic resources, which are exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Secretary Mayorkas. “After careful consideration, we determined that we must do what we can to support Haitian nationals in the United States until conditions in Haiti improve so they may safely return home.”

Which will be... never.

We've got Haitians who have been here since Obama imposed TPS after the 2010 earthquake. Somehow, despite Bill Clinton's best efforts, Haiti isn't good enough for the Haitians here to go back to because there's political instability and "poverty".

Does anyone foresee a time when Haiti won't have poverty? Are we providing TPS for poverty? Is poverty a natural disaster? Is it a temporary condition?

Obviously not. But it is an opportunity for more demographic transformation and the welfare-to-voter pipeline.

The designation of Temporary Protected Status will apply to Haitians — or individuals without nationality who last resided in Haiti — who were in the US as of May 21. It will not apply to those who arrive after that day. The decision to create a new designation allows for an additional 100,000 Haitians to become eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status on top of the more than 50,000 that already have it. The designation of TPS runs for 18 months.

Correction: it runs forever.

You can expect the Biden regime to try to shove as many third worlders into TPS as it can manage as part of its open borders agenda.
