The only thing this deal doesn't seem to fund is Al Qaeda.
We have a Republican in the White House and increased Republican control of Congress. Yet somehow we end up with a deal that funds every lefty priority, Planned Parenthood, EPA and Sanctuary Cities, but doesn't fund the wall.
When Republicans only had Congress, Dems got all their funding priorities. When Republicans have the White House and Congress, we have a huge whopping deal that gives the left everything it wants.
Congress is badly broken. The GOP needs new leadership. This didn't happen because Nancy Pelosi is some sort of organizational genius. So after Republicans control both houses and the White House... conservatives get nothing. And the left gets everything.
The legislation does not provide funding for construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border or eliminate money for so-called sanctuary cities that do not fully cooperate with federal immigration law, according to a summary provided by a senior congressional aide.
Nor does it cut funding for Planned Parenthood.
But guess what it does...
In a win for Republicans, the measure provides $1.5 billion for border security and $15 billion in additional defense funding — though it’s short the $30 billion in supplemental military funding Trump requested in his budget blueprint.
The defense increase is matched by a boost to non-defense programs for a total of $30 billion in additional funding over the sequester level set by a previous budget deal. None of Trump’s $18 billion in non-defense cuts were included.
So it's the same old, "I give you some pork, you give me some pork. And we all go deeper into debt."
The deal protects 99 percent of the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget and increases clean energy and science funding in spite of Trump’s calls to cut all three priorities.
The package includes $295 million to cover a Medicaid funding shortfall in Puerto Rico, one of the outstanding issue in the talks late last week. Trump tweeted Thursday that, “Democrats want to shut government if we don’t bail out Puerto Rico.”
I don't have the words.
Instead the Trump administration is only indefinitely funding the Obamacare subsidies
I know. I know. This was just a temporary measure to avoid a government shutdown. Next time around it'll be better. We haven't heard that one for six years.
