Palestinian Authority Gov: President Abbas Following in Footsteps of Saddam Hussein

If Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas really is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein, I eagerly await the day when he's pulled out of his hole and put on trial for his crimes.

But "Palestinians" have had a close relationship with Saddam. And Arafat famously backed Saddam's invasion of Kuwait. These days, Saddam can't send them as much money as they're used to, on account of being dead, but the "Palestinians" are still honoring the murderous Iraqi dictator.

The district governor of the Palestinian city in Qalqilya in the West Bank has unveiled a memorial to the late Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, a Middle East research institute reported on Friday.

MEMRI – the Middle East Media Research Institute – published a series of photos of the memorial, which depicts on one side a saluting Saddam in military uniform alongside the Iraqi and Palestinian flags. On the other side of the memorial, a besuited Saddam is shown brandishing a gun. The memorial bears the slogan “Saddam Hussein – The Master of the Martyrs in Our Age,” as well as “Arab Palestine from the River to the Sea,” which was one of the slogans regularly used by the dictator.

Qalqilya’s district governor, Rafi’ Rawajba, eulogized Saddam Hussein as “an emblem of heroism, honor, originality and defiance, as was the martyr (the late PLO leader) Yasser Arafat.”

Both leaders, Rawabja said, had been “a compass for the Arabs and their resolute decisions, and when they departed, Arabism departed with them. President Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] makes sure to follow in the footsteps of these two great leaders.”

They're both dead. So we'll see if he keeps following in their footsteps.

But why exactly are American taxpayers funding a dictator following in Saddam Hussein's footsteps?

Rafi’ Rawajba is an Abbas appointee.

President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday made two new appointments for the position of governor in the districts of Qalqiliya and Tulkarem.Rafi Rawajba was declared the new governor of Qalqiliya while Abdullah Kamil was appointed governor of Tulkarem.

The two men were appointed by presidential decree.

Of course they were. Abbas, like Saddam, doesn't bother with elections.

Why are we funding Abbas again? And why is the Taylor Force Act still being opposed?
