Citibank and Gun Control Through Corporate Pressure

This is a dangerous precedent. In some ways it reminds me of Operation Choke Point. But this is being handled entirely through corporations and lefty pressure groups.

Citibank announced Thursday that it will start requiring clients to place some restrictions on gun sales, including banning the sale of firearms to anyone under the age of 21.

The bank will also require retail clients to only sell guns to individuals who have passed a background check and to not sell bump stocks or high-capacity magazines.

The company announced the changes in a statement condemning gun violence and slamming lawmakers for failing to pass gun control measures. It said the policy would apply to new clients.

“We have waited for our grief to turn into action and see our nation adopt common-sense measure that would help prevent firearms form getting into the wrong hands. That action has sadly never come and as the weeks pass after the most recent mass shooting, it appears we are stuck in the same cycle of tragedy and inaction," the statement read.

That's not a statement. It's an unhinged left-wing rant full of prepackaged talking points and virtue signaling.

Citibank has the right to pressure businesses to discrimination. Even though Christian photographers don't have the right to decide whose weddings they will take pictures at. (Some animals are more equal than others.) And it's almost fitting considering that the bank was originally born out of an old pre-Dem voting registration scam masterminded by the radical traitor, Aaron Burr.

And its move will amp up pressure on other banks to follow suit.

Yes, some customers will leave Citibank. Whatever brand value it gains with progs will be more than offset by the losses. As Delta learned. But that doesn't really matter. Except to its shareholders.

As I've repeatedly warned, after their election losses, the left is attempting to run this country through unelected offices and systems, from Federal judges to corporations. The latter is a particularly disturbing threat. Major corporations are pandering to those leftists who would destroy them while alienating the conservatives standing between them and socialism. The bill is bound to come due.
