The media has dedicated numerous think pieces to the demographic changes that its lefty political faction expects will make white people and Republicans into a permanent minority. These pieces have alternated between the gleeful to the censorious.
And then Laura Ingraham mentioned the demographic changes. That was followed by howls of outrage from the left. And cries of racism.
But here's what she actually said.
“There is something slipping away in this country and it’s not about race or ethnicity. It’s what was once a common understanding by both parties that American citizenship is a privilege, and one that at a minimum requires respect for the rule of law and loyalty to our constitution.”
That's at the heart of the controversy of the left's championing of illegal aliens.
The left has fused demographic change, identity politics and bloc voting into a potent political weapon. It has done its end zone dance over the demographic changes. And now it pretends that the subject must remain off limits. At least outside its own media bubble where it can safely gloat, slime and spin.
Ingraham didn't state any facts that the left hasn't made public. The simple question is whether America is a country of Americans, or a global social welfare agency. Does citizenship come with responsibilities or is citizenship a golden ticket to privileges and freebies?
