Media Not Interested in 47 People Shot in Chicago Over the Weekend

Sorry, these are not the shootings we're interested in. They don't create the right sort of national dialogue. So we're not discussing them.

Not even when 47 people get shot over the weekend. After all there's no manifesto.

Mount Sinai Hospital was forced to stop accepting new patients Saturday night into Sunday morning after a deadly string of shootings that left at least four people killed and 43 more injured in shootings within city limits since Friday evening.

In Lawndale on the West Side, 14 people were shot in three separate incidents over a span of about two hours.

About 1:20 a.m., a group of people were gathered in Douglas Park in the 2900 block of West Roosevelt Road when someone opened fire from a black Camaro, Chicago police said.

Someone.

It doesn't really matter.

If the perpetrators were white and this weren't happening in Chicago, there would be a rush to cover it. But it's just Chicago. Not Gilroy.

Gun violence in Chicago last weekend left eight people dead and 40 others hurt.

Again, anywhere else 8 people dead and 40 wounded would be a story. But the political points on this are all the wrong ones.
