The New York City mayoral race and the New Jersey’s governor’s race is one of those times when the Jewish vote actually matters and the skew of the Jewish vote looks nothing like the stereotypes.
President Trump personally reached out to the Orthodox Jewish community in New Jersey, urging, “I need all of my supporters in the orthodox community in Lakewood and its surrounding towns to vote in huge numbers for Jack Ciattarelli. Jack needs every single Vote in the community, including all the Yeshiva students who turned out to vote for me last year.” Conservative activists and personalities posed with some of those students from the area with the largest number of high schools and rabbinical schools in the country while they waited on line to cast their ballots for the Republican candidate.
Meanwhile in the New York City’s mayoral race, despite false claims and fake polls by Mamdani supporters, the Quinnipiac poll showed Cuomo taking 60% of the Jewish vote, Sliwa taking 12% and Mamdani having to make do with 16%. Some might argue that 16% is still too many and they have a point, but there is something obviously wrong with the way that Quinnipiac, an otherwise reliable pollster, measures and then reports the Jewish vote. It’s the same problem as the previous Siena poll which showed that 75% of Jews had an unfavorable view of Mamdani and only 20% backed him.
There are very few mainstream polls that actually separate out Jews as a group. That means that on a national level the gap is filled by fake polls from left-wing groups that produce the worthless numbers of 70% of Jews voting for Kamala, Biden or Hillary that are bandied about as if they were facts. The only legitimate polls of Jews are local polls in which Jews are sampled as part of a larger population.
But even these have a basic problem that pops up when you compare the only 28% of Catholics voting for Mamdani and the 36% of Protestants voting for Mamdani with the 43% of Hispanics and 48% of black voters backing the radical candidate. Even though Hispanics are a significant percentage of New York City’s Catholic population, there’s obviously a sizable gap between the religious Hispanic vote and the secular Hispanic vote. Likewise the city’s sizable number of black protestants and black voters.
We take it for granted that it makes sense to separate the religious and the race/ethnic components in those cases, but in the cases of Jewish voters, polls, like those above, group Jews together with other religious groups, Catholics and Protestants, but poll Jews as if they were an ethnic group or race, rather than asking them about their religious beliefs, they include anyone under the loosest possible definition.
The Quinnipiac and Siena polls, in typical fashion, allow people to ‘self-identify’ as Jews. That’s the same philosophy that led men to enter women’s locker rooms and allowed an anti-Israel Latino leftist, Sen. Julia Salazar, to suddenly start falsely claiming that she was Jewish. No less a figure than AOC has claimed to have Jewish origins. Like male athletes who one day start claiming they’re women, ‘self-identification’ with no criteria or standards is at best meaningless and at worst a formula for fraud.
Jews, unlike black people or Hispanics, can’t be as easily identified based on appearance (although there have been individuals, including Zohran Mamdani, who also falsely claimed to be black for gain) and a policy of self-identification makes Jewish polling meaningless and also tilts it far leftward.
Pollsters have an alternative way of meaningfully measuring the Jewish vote which is to ask about synagogue affiliation and attendance.
Every time this has been done, the Jewish vote becomes significantly more conservative.
During the heyday of the Iran Deal, Gallup broke down its polling of the Jewish vote by asking about synagogue attendance and found that 60% of Jews who attended synagogue services on a weekly basis disapproved of Obama while 58% of those who went to synagogue seldom or never approved of him.
Even the fake poll being advanced by a front group for the Jewish Democratic Council of America found a 20 point drop in support for Kamala based on synagogue attendance.
Polls of Jewish voters would look dramatically different if pollsters asked about synagogue attendance.
There are people who feel very ‘Jewish’ despite not being religious or going to synagogue and a recent Washington Post poll provides a demonstration of another question that pollsters could ask. The Post had looked to create a poll of American Jews that would show that they are turning against Israel. And unintentionally revealed the poll’s agenda by disclosing its methodology and definition of ‘Jews.’
“The sample includes adults who identify as Jewish by religion as well as those who identify as adults with no religious affiliation but Jewish ethnically, culturally or through their family background — and either were raised Jewish or have a parent who is Jewish.” The Post cast the loosest possible net, watering down the definition of a Jewish respondent to the point of absurdity to get its results.
Among those who said that being Jewish is “very important” to them, 63% supported Israel’s campaign against Hamas, while in perfect proportion, 63% of those who answered that being Jewish is not important to then, opposed Israel.
There is a term for people to whom being Jewish is not at all important: non-Jewish people.
A poll that includes large numbers of people to whom the entire criteria that the poll is based on doesn’t matter is a contradiction in terms. Pollsters could ask those they insist on polling as if they were Jewish about their meaningful religious affiliation or identification. Instead, like the Washington Post, they poll people who are not in any way affiliated with the Jewish community and who happily tell the pollster that they have no sense of being Jewish, and yet pollsters include them to water down the results.
And that is how you get polls that paint Jews as being far more left-wing than they actually are.
The question of ‘Who is a Jew’ can be answered in different ways by different people, but the answer has to be based on some kind of standard while in political polls there are no standards at all.
The issue isn’t that Jews are very liberal, it’s that the definition of being Jewish is so liberal that it’s meaningless. When we actually look at precinct level data for Jewish neighborhoods and communities, virtually every dense Jewish neighborhood from New York to Chicago to Los Angeles to Miami went to Trump. Neighborhoods reflect a very basic form of identification. Much more so than polls.
That’s why President Trump is trying to get out the vote in one of the densest Jewish areas in New Jersey and why there are lines of Chassidic Jews waiting in line to vote against Mamdani.
The stereotype of Jews voting liberal is, like most stereotypes, impossible to eradicate but it’s not reality, it’s just another of the big lies that a liberal media keeps telling us. And that we want to believe.

Modern media just want to do their job properly, they just want to pump out propaganda
Modern media is based on repeating the narrative. The narrative comes from experts. The experts are those funded to create political propaganda.
This is the conveyor belt of lies we live in.
The Jews I know call him Mamzer.
In my house also!
The BBC has been found out for lying about Jews, Israel & Trump, & we Brits have to pay a licence fee
to the BBC, or face prison !! Shame on them.
sounds a lot like the old saw:
Lies, Damn lies, and Statistics.
True, however I believe the broader issue is that, while ethnic groups are predisposed to supporting their own – Jews support Jews, Italians support Italians, blacks suppose blacks and so forth – most analysis forget the “SuperTribe” that eclipses all others: Democrats. When it comes to voting most Democrats (including those in New Jersey and up and down the East Coast) will mindlessly, unthinking, autonomously, and illogically vote for anyone with a (D) after their name. That’s why Cuomo lost – he didn’t have the (D). Even when said Dem candidate expresses open hatred towards them (e.g. Jews this time) they will still vote for him with slavish, unthinking, borderline suicidal loyalty. Talk about Stockholm Syndrome! It’s like chickens voting for Col Sanders.
Same thing would happen with the Christians if you don’t count the secular vote and use a rose colored filter. This was covered by an extremely comprehensive and honest look at the polls in at least one article after 2024 without apparent bias. The conclusion? If you counted/added the secular Jew to the practicing Jew the high percentage of votes for dims in the 2024 presidential race was the correct figure. Jewish women voted the highest figure of any demographic at 93% xhiden. The next was black women at 92%. It is also much harder compared to other groups to poll the Jews, especially the secular ones because of the diffusion in American society.
Hopefully this suicidal voting drastically changes or has changed already. Afterall it should be a little bracing that 1933 Germany has fully reincarnated itself in America. Doesn’t leave much room since the options are survival or no survival. There is hope right now that the Orthodox Jews in Jersey are voting in numbers that could put the conservative over the top.
16% is fine, but remember Cuomo is a huge scumbag liberal. Kind of skews the premise.
Indeed.
I wrote in the past that when you break down the vote by church attendance and the ‘none of the aboves’, the electorate tilts far to the Left.
Within the stated Christian category, you have large numbers of people who really are not religiously affiliated and don’t believe in much of anything. They’re invariably liberal.
This category tends to fade with time among white Dems who no longer even bother identifying as Christians.
Measuring church and synagogue attendance is an actual metric for Catholic, Protestant, Jewish voters
Self-ID is meaningless
Mamdani has the votes of transgender “rabbis” locked up. The votes of actual Jews are another matter. The other thing that I’ve heard ad nauseam is “New York is the most Jewish city in the world” (actually Tel Aviv has easily more than twice as many Jews in its metropolitan area, which is also the #1 reason the Left hates it). And for every authentic Jew in New York, there are probably at least two antisemites. They’re supporting Mamdani because of, not in spite of his Jew hating.
New York City used to be very Jewish.
Like the rest of the city’s old immigrant working class population, Jews, along with Irish and Italians, have been pretty dispersed to Long Island, New Jersey, etc…
NYC went from being about 25% Jewish in 1950 to about 11% Jewish today
Since they’ve all won now including an anti-Semitic lt. governor, strangely bizarre governor and an openly jihadi mayor, I think we need to discuss what an Islamic US will look like. So the rest of us can plan. Or we can just wait a few weeks and see it unfold around us.
Its a lot like the zombie apocalypse, if you ask me.
Try not to get bitten.
What kind of Jew votes for a boged like Mamdani? Bushah!
A Jew who’s so open-minded his/her brains have fallen out.
There is a strange omission in otherwise voluminous Holocaust documentation and that’s the chapter on Muslims represented by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem visiting and allying with Hitler for WWII, even raising a military contingent for him. Certainly the Mufti had 13 centuries of Islamic antisemitism to share. There has be no repentance, no reparations from the Muslim world that instead has seamlessly continued its war against Jews, focused on the state of Israel., now rippling into the West with the Trojan horse of Palestinian victimology.
Shouldn’t post war generations have been educated by their parents and rabbis that Muslims and Islam should be held to the same standards as the Germans and that Muslim enmity has not altered a whit? Instead there have been foolish ecumenical friendship circles welcoming Muslims and mosques. Christian leaders have been equally remiss, including the Pope and his immediate predecessor acting as though Islam that continues to murder Christians in Africa in the tens of thousands does not remain the enemy of Christendom as it has been throughout its history. What gives?
commenter wrote: “What gives?”
This is what gives: “Ecumenism” is more important than reality to these “religious” people. Magical thinking about “healing the world” and “we are all the same” and “brotherly love” and “peace on earth” is how self-styled Jewish and Christian secular “religious” people — who are not orthodox and who reject strict orthodox moral codes — virtue signal their amoral secularized “morality”– which is a mishmash of liberal egalitarian Utopian fantasies that pretend human nature doesn’t exist — to one another for ego, status and facebook likes. They cosplay “religion” as a simulacra of “meaning” because their existence is so narcissistic, shallow and empty. They live a lie (using “nice” as a passive-aggressive weapon) and wear hollowed out religion as the skin suit of a self-satisfied supercilious scold (see: Trans “rabbis”, “Sparkle Creed” and the pope). These ecumenical liberal and woke “religious” people are dominating Western society and killing it. And no ones seems to notice or care.
There are observant Jews and non-observant “Jews”, just as with observant Catholics and non-observant “Catholics.”
There’s a difference, though. Jews are an ethnicity, Catholics are not.
Woke up to the wonderful news that Spanberger won governor of Va .Democrat Muslima Ghazala Hashmi won the Lt Governor of Va. And the most wonderful and morale boosting win of them all Mamdani is the new Mayor of NYC!
I guess we can just sit back, relax, get the popcorn out, and enjoy the ride.
I guess my sarcasm didn’t come across. Does anyone really think I was serious that it was wonderful news? Apparently with the two down votes
As a Christian who LOVES faithful Jewish people, I’m just not in the mood for that kind of ‘humor/joke/ sarcasm. I actually haven’t been in the mood for decades with even the stewardship of so called conservative radio voices. There is FAR too much miseducation to counter with actual facts, reason and arguments to countenance the non-stop ‘entertainments’ that pass for news. This is why I appreciated David Horowitz – who LIVED the horror of the Left and argued so strenuously and effectively and now Greenfield. Every single one of us who love Truth and Freedom and God – the Creator Covenant Maker- need to hone our ability to make true and savvy arguments for defending our civilization in order to pass Truth to our children.
It’s the popcorn flippancy that’s out of place. Conservatives who think they can sit back and enjoy the Left destroying itself don’t understand that even IF the Left were dying (and they’re NOT!), the damage they’re doing to America may well be unfixable.
It should instead be all hands on deck trying to put out Dem-lit fires. If too many Repubs were munching premature celebratory popcorn instead of voting and getting out the vote.in NYC, NJ and Virginia, then who are we to call the Left dumb when they never quit, beavering away 24/7? These victories are the wind beneath their wings, revving them up for the mid-terms. Put the popcorn down.
Laine, try not to take yourself too seriously.
Polling games aside, what is staggering is the deep seated suicidal hatred for America in NY (and other blue enclaves) that bring together all different religions, ethnicities, socioeconomic classes, generations, political affiliations., and citizens and non citizen voters. A significant number of Jewish people did voted for a Marxist anti America Muslim.
What’s the difference between Trump and a Reform Jew? Trumps grandkids are being raised as Jews
“There is a term for people to whom being Jewish is not at all important: non-Jewish people.”
Really? Is that a halachic definition????
I don’t think you’re gonna do that much better with a halachic definition.
There was the “Treifa Banquet” that the Reform movement held in 1883, The menu featured shellfish and frogs legs, as well as mixed dairy and meat products. I wonder what percentage of the descendents of the attendees at that Banquet are Jews, more than 140 years later. I would be very surprised if it were over 10 or 15%. Similarly, none of the living members of the Sulzberger Ochs family who founded The New York Times are Jews, even by the elastic (and non-halachic) standards of Reform or Reconstructionist Judaism. No wonder The New Year Times regularly features articles around Jewish holidays entitled “Why I won’t have a Seder this year” or “Why I don’t celebrate Chanukah”, written by people of (distant) Jewish ancestry. I’m surprised that they didn’t have Pope Francis write an article entitled “Why I didn’t have a bris”. They’re so ignorant that they don’t know that observant Jews do not expect non Jews to observe Jewish holidays.
WTF is Halachic? Is that like Hasidic or something? Lentils and beans?
Tucker Carlson’s Populist Poison Laced with pro Nazism Is Driving Some Young Jews Toward the Radical Left e.g. Mamdani (just like Charlottesville 2017 helped Biden).

I appreciate the re-assurance.
Cannot stand the idea of another religion based suicide cult. (Jim Jones reference)
But New York can do strange things to people
Half a century ago when I was a teenager and Gotham teetered on the brink of bankruptcy, I felt sorry for New York because Lindsay cooked the books to disguise massive borrowing to pay for welfare (the number of recipients in the city increased from 350,000 to 1.2 million on his watch). This time New York City really is going off a clift and it is frankly EXACTLY what the city deserves. No one can be oblivious to Mamdani’s antisemitism, or his Marxism and the disastrous policies he will implement. I hope decent people left in New York get out before its inevitable collapse and don’t look back. As despicable as Mamdani himself are the “Mainstream Democrats” like Schumer and Hochul who let this happen. That Mamdani got more than 1% of the vote is a damning indictment of New York.
It’s not only the way these misleading and artificial polls attempt to stereotype voting blocks, the entire polling industry is dishonest! Take the mainstream media declaring that Mamdani won NYC mayoral election about 12 hours later after the polling stations closed. Beneath the large banner headlines stating Mamdani won, is in smaller print in the articles that these media organizations base that on their ‘projected’ analysis. But what’s omitted is that these projected numbers are based on an election run by a first-past-the-post system, when this election was run by a ranked choice voting (RCV) system!
As of November 5, 2025 while I’m composing my opinion at 2 pm EST, there’s been no official statement from the NYC Board of Elections if any candidate received 50% + 1% of the vote in the first round. This would immediately halt the computer tabulating the knockout rounds and assigning votes to the next popular candidates. I feel a single bias and politically partisan source fed this narrative to the mainstream media that Mamdani won. Most likely due to misleading and limited information on the first round voting numbers from polling stations where Mamdani’s numbers were the strongest. Then this source most likely extrapolated this small sample to suggest the same result would be equal across the board in all ridings, which is dishonest!
This is very similar to Harry Truman holding up a newspaper with the banner headline ‘Dewey Defeats Truman’. I’ve fact checked with several different AI search engines and there’s been no indication whatsoever that the RCV tabulation has stopped and a definite winner has been declared by the NYC Board of Elections.
Once upon a time Brooklyn was cool. Now, judging by exit poll maps, except around Williamsburg and Crown heights, everything north of Prospect Park is inhabited by some of the lousiest jerks to walk the earth.
Going forward, I want to know how much Mamdani will reward those districts which voted for him by large margins and how much he will punish those who stood against him.
Londonistan and now New Yorkistan? Take back Western cities!
The TL;DR for this article is, “Who are you going to believe? Me or your own lying eyes?”
I’m sorry that not all Jewish people aren’t as right extremist as you are. I guess those are the breaks. Why deny them agency? Why pretend they simply hold a different opinion than you?
