Imagine that Hamas had won on Oct 7 and the victims were Christians. That’s what happened in Algeria. Islamist and Marxist terrorists during the Algerian War waged a ruthless campaign against the non-Muslim population. Including Jews.
The atrocities by Muslim terrorists included the slitting of women’s throats and babies being murdered by having their heads smashed against walls. The massacres climaxed in the Oran Massacre in which De Gaulle’s corrupt regime refused to protect Christians and Jews from the Muslim mob.
The Catholic Church virtually disappeared in Algeria after the Islamic takeover. The dead included martyred members of the church.
The memory of violence during Algeria’s civil conflict in the 1990s is central to the identity of the Catholic Church in the country. During that period, several clergy and women and men religious were killed, including monks murdered during the Tibhirine abbey massacre in 1996 and Bishop Pierre Claverie of Oran. Catholic monk Jean-Pierre Schumacher was left to tell of the ill-famed 1996 massacre at the Algerian monastery of Tibhirine in which seven of his confreres were brutally killed.
The Church’s position on these massacres has been surreal, at once honoring the dead and their killers.
Bishop Pierre Claverie and his 18 companions, who were martyred in Algeria by Islamists between 1994 and 1996, were beatified Saturday during a Mass in Oran.
Archbishop Paul Desfarges of Algiers noted the “thousands of victims of the Algerian civil war,” calling them anonymous heroes.
“We did not want a beatification between Christians, because these brothers and sisters died among tens and tens of thousands of Algerian” Muslims, he stated.
Algeriaʼs population is almost entirely Muslim.
… because the Christians were killed or driven out.
Relatives of those beatified were received by Muslim dignitaries at the Ibn Badis Grand Mosque, where Mostapha Jaber, an imam, said, “We Muslims associate this event with much joy.”
Pope Leo, in between berating President Trump for standing up to Islamic Terror, paid tribute to the killers.
At his first public event in Algeria, Pope Leo XIV visited the Martyrs’ Monument, “Maqam Echahid,” which commemorates those who lost their lives in the Algerian War for Independence in 1954-1962.
The visit to the monument is a moment to pay tribute to the history of Algeria and the spirit of those who fought for independence, dignity, and sovereignty.
Pope Leo stressed that the people being honored at the monument “have already given their answer. They lost their lives but in doing so, they gave them up for the love of their own people.”
Their people being… Arab Muslims. They did indeed love their own people and hated Pope Leo’s people. Pope Leo hates his own people and loves their Muslim killers.
It’s important to note that the Martyrs Monument doesn’t honor those who “lost their lives” in the war. It honors the terrorists and killers.
Underneath the ‘Monument’ is the El Mujahid Museum. That means Jihadis. This is an evil madness. But then so was the French treatment of its own citizens in Algeria, the British government’s treatment of the girls being raped by Pakistani Muslim sex grooming gangs and the treatment of Americans standing up to Islamic terrorism after 9/11.
Evil’s greatest trick is to pretend that it stands for peace even as it empowers the monsters and the killers.

The Pope is a disgusting IslamoMarxist P0S!
This Pope is a sick joke, just like the last one.
Here is a thought, is calling the Pope ( Holy Father ) = Blasphemy ? I thought that was the name of YHVA.
He is another non Christian poop
I agree with you and with President Trump. As a Catholic, I can say that this pope is a no-good rotten Commie pinko stinko. He is a false prophet, a Pharisee, that is a hypocrite. He is not anti-war, he is anti-American. And he is ugly in both soul and body. Is the Pope Catholic? The answer for the second time in a row is NO.
Nice…. So y’all can read both mind and heart… Good luck opening a tarrot card shop…
How dare you impune truth – 2nd Tuesday in April is hoi polloi snooty talking day –
You are a brave person, not many Catholics would admit that.
two people disagree? Stupidly is alive and well in the world There is your proof!
A no good rotten commie pinko stinko? What a beautiful piece of rhetoric! I love it.
As a Roman Catholic, I admit having little use for this Pope. However, it is yet another self-inflicted wound by Trump to respond to the Pope the way he has. How bad was it? Even those on Fox News said it was a bad move. The elections will continue to be close. President Trump should not be unnecessarily upsetting Catholics and others who would otherwise vote for him. Presenting himself as Jesus-like might make his staunchest supporters happy, but that’s not whose votes the GOP is going to need.
Evil’s greatest trick is to pretend that it stands for peace even as it empowers the monsters and the killers.
Sounds like you’re taking a dig at the leftist officers and politicians in Israel who enabled the disastrous and unfinished Gaza war.
You’re very confused about who enabled what.
Daniel, thank you for pointing this out I didn’t know about this till I read your article I will say
the history you’re pointing to is real, and it shouldn’t be softened. The murders at Tibhirine Abbey and the killing of Pierre Claverie were acts of martyrdom. That part shouldn’t be blurred.
But I think the key question is this: is the pope actually honoring killers—or is he trying to acknowledge a nation’s history without endorsing everything in it?
Those aren’t the same thing.
When a pope stands at a national monument, he’s often speaking in diplomatic and pastoral language, not issuing a moral endorsement of every person being commemorated. The Church has always operated in that tension—engaging the world without affirming all of it.
That said, here’s where I think your critique lands: when the language gets too broad—“they gave their lives for their people”—it can sound like moral equivalence. And that’s a real problem, because not all causes are equal, and not all deaths carry the same meaning.
So I don’t think the Church is honoring killers.
But I do think it risks sounding like it is when it stops speaking with precision.
And for Catholics, that lack of clarity matters.
The pope is in the shadow of France and unfortunately so far left leaning. Overall, I agree with your criticism.
Pope Leo has not made one comment about the way the Iranian ‘leadership’ kills its own people…yet he opposes the American President for standing up to this evil?
The Pope needs to stay in his own lane, and leave leadership to ELECTED WORLD LEADERS…Leo has proven he is NOT a world leader.
His past “ tweets” read like college freshman who joined any old protest to meet girls – or guys. Reminds of Mandani. Hateful, trite regurgitation of lefty talking points. It doesn’t match the Catholic people I know and so it must be confusing for them.
I always thought religious leader should try up be above the catchphrases of the day and speak of love kindness and truth.
We need a serious pope. This one is bowing to Islam. There is an Islamic prayer rug in the Vatican. “Allah” is not God. We must follow the first commandment: “You shall have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3). The liberal retards really believe all religions are the same, they are not the same! Our freedom rights come from the Bible not the Koran. the Koran promotes slavery and death. The Koran is nihilistic. It promotes a death cult of murder. We need a pope who favors Christians and confronts the death cult which murders Christians. How long do the victims of Islam need to wait for relief?
We need a serious pope, and serious bishops to elect a serious pope.
I grew up with maybe 80-90 percent Catholics. They were the best people I ever knew. I’m certain they are today as disappointed with this Pope as I am.
You can count me in that number.
We are extremely disappointed…..🙄
Let’s see a meme of the Pope on one of those Muslim prayer rugs in the Vatican. At least Trump’s meme had some humor to it.
No meme needed – I am sure this satanic pekkerhead honiac pope will allow it if not allowed it already –
Just another well-,intentioned, perhaps, but tragic nail in the coffin of Catholicism. Bing back Benedict.
Didn’t he die? It’s a pity he was driven out of office. He would have been a worthy successor to John Paul II.
The papacy has always been mixed up with politics to varying degrees, both positive and negative, but Pope Leo, like his predecessor Pope Francis, is a flat-out leftist of the heterodox Modernist type. What Leo and his recent predecessors appear to be striving for is a one-world religion where all faiths can join hands and be means to salvation, and even core Catholic doctrines can be jettisoned in the interests of harmony. Much of what we see today from Pope Leo is really quite disgraceful, with very thinly veiled attacks on conservatives, groveling before so-called “progressives,” and even now as per above, a bizarre visit in Algeria to a Muslim Jihadist memorial to killers of Christians.
The three prominent American cardinals who appeared recently on the CBS news program 60 minutes, after Democrat Party activist David Axelrod met at length with Pope Leo, slammed the Trump administration for its much-needed illegal immigration policies and military defense of the West directed against the theocratic terrorists who rule Iran. One of those cardinals, Blaise Cupich, actually once gave a “prayer of invocation” speech before the Democrat National Convention. The cardinal made no mention of Jesus, or of course, Catholic teachings on life issues such as abortion.
It may seem odd that a Catholic could still remain a Catholic knowing full well what has become of the papacy and the Church since the arch-liberal Pope Paul VI onward. There is no problem, however, because in the Second Epistle to the Thessalonians, Saint Paul warned of a “great apostasy” that will happen before the return of Christ. When a Catholic is presented with undisputable negative facts regarding a pope, he or she can’t just ignore them and pretend all is well. That would be what us traditional Catholics call “pope-idolatry.” I still recognize the office of the present pope, but obviously cannot accept what he says or does in general. In the Holy Scriptures, it must be remembered, Saint Paul confronted Saint Peter, the first pope, “to his face” over withdrawing from eating with Gentile Christians out of fear of criticism from Jewish Christians.
This Pope is a useful idiot for Muslims. He thinks he’s safe behind the Vatican walls counting the TRILLIONS the Church has hoarded over the centuries. Wait until Rome falls again.
I have 100% admiration to people in any religion that gets spiritual fulfillment. (Save of course the mooslime religion because they command and demand bloodshed and tyranny)
The Vatican and popes have always been antisemitic. The vatican embraced nazziz so no surprise they embrace jihad.
Along with covering up centuries of child abuse and knocking up nuns and burying the infants born from nuns in the walls of the vatican. The harder I tried to be celibate the more nymphomaniac I was. Of course I was not “called” for the clergy.
If not for the bisexual King James for political reasons, commanded the 1611 KJV Bible, the Vatican wants parishioners ignorant and obeisance. The 1611 KJV Bible has the Apocrypha but that is removed in the common used KJV Bible.
I am in possession of two versions of the 88 book Ethiopian Bible which if all 88 books were taught since we were children, what knowledge we would have and knowledge, as we know, is power.
Frankly, how one can be Christian of any sect and be antisemitic is beyond my poor powers of reason.
It’s a no brainer, if one is antisemitic, one is telling their Lord Jesus Christ, I hate you because you are Semitic/Hebrew/Jewish…
It’s Vatican that makes Italy so anti-Israel, isn’t it?
You should do an article about why Meloni—and Italy—has such a stick up her ass about Israel.
We have not had a good Pope since Benedict the 16th.
His crime according to the Leftist NAZIs was that he was born in Germany and drafted at age 16 into the German anti-aircraft corps., That is it.
Benedict got rid of Limbo, which is a neat trick considering how hidebound bureaucracy cane be..
I wish I were surprised but am not. I am reminded of one of the French useful idiots of the Algerian War saying something along the lines – at least after the horror of migrantization and Jihad hit – that she did not oppose French Algeria in order to hav an Algerian France. I also recall it attributed to DeGaulle that if France kept Algeria, “My village would no longer be called Colombey-The-Two-Churches but Colombey-The-Two-Mosques.”
Both were fools on that note, I suppose. And frankly it will be. A miracle if Colombey ends with only two mosques. The FLN has a lot to answer for, but so do those who let this happen.
Iran’s barbaric regime is set to execute its first female protester over recent protests, one of an estimated 1,600 sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic in the past year.
Bita Hemmati is the first woman due to be hanged in relation to the demonstrations that broke out in January across the country and were viciously stamped out by government forces.

Found that info on another site….Not one comment on this horror…..not one….from this Pope or any democrat….
WHY is that?
