Elections in Somali are decided by who has the most guns. Maybe Iman Osman confused Maine with Somalia. These days that’s a fairly understandable mistake.
Lewiston, Maine is Ground Zero for Somali refugee resettlement in the state. And local politicians fumed when President Trump suggested that they were a problem.
Safiya Khalid, who served as the first Somali-American on the Lewiston city council, said in a social media post that she was quote “deeply offended and disgusted” by the president’s attacks, and called on state and local elected leaders to stand up for their Somali constituents.
Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline called the president’s assertion that Somali immigrants contribute nothing to society “shameful and inaccurate.”
“Here, Somali entrepreneurs are business owners and hard workers, creating jobs and strengthening our local economy,” Sheline said in a written statement on Wednesday. “Their active role within our City has been instrumental in Lewiston’s revitalization, making such rhetoric not only cruel but clearly false.”
Mayor Sheline has a point. There’s no question that Somalis contribute so much to Lewiston. Like the gang violence and shootings.
Or the mayor can ask the new Somali Councillor Iman Osman. He may just have to get in line behind the police.
A Lewiston School Committee Member and City Councilor-Elect is now indicted on criminal charges in a case allegedly involving stolen guns. Iman Osman was indicted on Monday for theft charges, according to court documents.
Iman Osman was running on a platform to make Lewiston more diverse. Looks like he succeeded.

I lived in Maine when the first Somalis arrived in the 90s. At that time you could have gone weeks or months without seeing a black person. Did they don the appropriately sized waistband pants, flannel shirt and duck boot attire of the people around them? No, it seems like as soon as they stepped off the plane adopted they garb of inner-city street gangs and proceeded to make every single measure of quality of life worse for everyone.
Bush41 (and Hillary voter) felt weepy about the poor abused Somalis, so he decided 10s of 1000s deserved a taxpayer payed trip here.
He dumped these low-lifes in Saint Paul (a.k.a. “Little Mogadishu”), Lewiston, Portland, and other patriotic red cities . . . . except NOT in Kennebunkport.
Bush41 was a nice guy, and just had to scratch his humanitarian itch. Red-blooded Americans are still paying for that itch in blood, robberies, grifted billions (beating out Sleepy Joe by a mile), and rampant pedophilia.
It is going to be a big pill to swallow, but it must happen. No active Muslims in Government, no exceptions.

Vacationed in Maine this summer and scheduled an overnight stay in Lewiston. As we drove to the hotel, past open drug transactions, prostitution, and bums passed out in public we were disgusted. This is a city of less that 40,000 but almost 20% are immigrants…what should have been an idylic evening in a beautiful Maine town became a new booking 50 miles away. This is an unbelievable disaster, but a self-inflicted one.
From what I see, Somali migrants contribute nothing good to American society. Only bad.
