“Let Gaza live,” a mob of anti-Israel protesters screamed, brandishing signs falsely accusing the Jewish State of “ethnic cleansing”, “starving Gaza” and genocide while illegally blocking traffic outside the Israeli consulate in Midtown Manhattan.
The only thing more disgusting than the ugly spectacle, which had been timed around a Hamas famine propaganda campaign over the summer, was that one of the hate groups behind the anti-Israel protest, which ended in arrests, was funded by proceeds from Schindler’s List.
When Steven Spielberg created the Righteous Persons Foundation with some of the profits from Schindler’s List, he wanted to educate people about the Holocaust and build up Jewish life in America. “I could not accept any money from ‘Schindler’s List’ — if it even made any money. It was blood money, and needed to be put back into the Jewish community.”
“My parents didn’t keep kosher and we mainly observed all the holidays when my grandparents stayed with us,” the filmmaker said at the time. “I knew I was missing a great deal of my natural heritage, and as I became conscious of it, I began racing to catch up.”
The race has long since gone the other way.
The last time the Righteous Persons Foundation, named after the rescuers of Holocaust survivors, funded Holocaust programs was in 2021. Most of its funding now goes to radical social justice groups including anti-Israel organizations like those protesting Israel.
Since 2021, Spielberg’s foundation has provided $650,000 to T’ruah, an anti-Israel hate group which took part in the Manhattan street blocking and whose CEO celebrated the move and gleefully posted photos of attendees falsely accusing Israel of “ethnic cleansing”.
“We have to keep up the pressure,” urged T’ruah CEO Jill Jacobs, who had accused Israeli officials of “incitement to genocide”, and demanded an end to further Israeli attacks on Hamas. Jacobs had blasted American Jews for speaking about “Oct. 7 and the plight of the hostages without once mentioning the unbearable death toll among Palestinians” because of what she claimed was their fear of wealthy Jewish donors.
Jacobs and T’ruah had even falsely accused Israel of “war crimes” by assassinating Hezbollah leaders. “Israel, too, has already committed war crimes in Lebanon, including by exploding the beepers and walkie talkies of hundreds of Hezbollah members,” Jacobs argued.
Within a year, Spielberg had gone from funding Holocaust survivors to funding those accusing Israel of a new Holocaust while enabling Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran to perpetrate a new one.
The Righteous Persons Foundation also provided $1.2 million to ‘Bend the Arc’, a radical group originally headed by an anti-Israel protester, which has close ties to anti-Israel protest groups.
Bend the Arc demanded that Biden impose an arms embargo on Israel, blamed the Jewish State for the fighting, and defended the campus hate groups persecuting Jews.
CEO Jamie Beran appeared at a rally for Mahmoud Khalil, who had defended terrorism, refused to condemn Hamas and was part of a movement that had celebrated the attacks of Oct 7. Beran claimed that deporting Khalil, a foreign national, for harassing Jews was “using antisemitism as a smokescreen” and urged that, “we have to keep fighting…to ensure that he is released “
Bend the Arc Action, headed by Alex Soros, responded to the murders of Jews in D.C. and Boulder, Colorado by anti-Israel terrorists, with a letter to Congress opposing any moves to prevent campus attacks on Jews while complaining that “police actions have been taken disproportionately toward pro-Palestinian protests.”
Bend the Arc even came out against the International Holocaust Remembrance Association (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. Money from a movie about the Holocaust that was supposed to be used to memorialize the Holocaust, was instead being used to fund an organization campaigning against the International Holocaust Remembrance Association.
Beyond the direct funding of Bend the Arc, Spielberg’s foundation also paid out over a quarter of a million dollars to the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable, a collective of radical groups that includes not only Bend the Arc, and T’ruah, but the New York Jewish Agenda, an anti-Orthodox group that was present at the anti-Israel rally. NYJA was co-founded by Rachel Timoner, an anti-Israel activist with T’ruah, who also serves as Senator Chuck Schumer’s ‘rabbi’ and had signed on to a T’ruah letter demanding that Biden “ensure that Israel does not invade Rafah”.
The Righteous Persons Foundation provided $900,000 to Jews United For Justice, another member of the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable network, which had also come out against the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism because it might ‘chill’ the speech of ‘Palestinians’ and others opposed to the Jewish State.
Spielberg’s foundation gave over $2 million to groups opposed to the International Holocaust Remembrance Association and only $125,000 to Holocaust groups in the last 5 years.
Jews United For Justice promoted a ‘guide’ on antisemitism by an anti-Israel activist, which declared that “leaders of the Jewish state and the Jewish leaders and institutions that support them worldwide must be held accountable for their oppression of Palestinians.”
To put the Spielberg foundation’s millions for anti-Israel groups into context, the Righteous Persons Foundation provided only $350,000 to the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles in the director’s own hometown. And the last time RPF even bothered funding it was back in 2020.
$250,000 was allocated to the Holocaust Museum and the last time RPF funded it was in 2019. Bet Tzedek, pro bono lawyers who help Holocaust survivors, was last funded in 2019. The Blue Card, a Holocaust charity that provides money to survivors, received $375,000, and there have been no further funds since 2021.Even the USC Shoah Institute, a group that Spielberg is popularly associated with, for its recording of the memories of Holocaust survivors and more recently Oct 7 survivors, last received $500,000 from him in 2015 (out of over $10 million.)
Since 2020, the Righteous Persons Foundation has provided $2.4 million to anti-Israel groups while spending only $125,000 on Holocaust projects. During a time of surging antisemitism, he has provided a fraction of the funds to groups fighting antisemitism that he has to the groups defending antisemites and denouncing Israel for defending itself against Jihadist genocide.
Steven Spielberg is entitled to spend his money however he wants, but the audiences that helped make Schindler’s List a hit were under the impression that the profits would be used to help Holocaust survivors and, in Spielberg’s words, “try to teach the facts of the past to prevent another Holocaust in the future.” Instead he’s funding groups enabling another Holocaust.
To what degree is the billionaire filmmaker aware of the politics of what he’s funding?
After Oct 7, David Schaecter, a 94-year-old survivor with the Holocaust Survivors Foundation wrote an open letter to Spielberg pleading, “I along with countless other survivors, are so heartbroken that, since Oct. 7, 2023, you have not spoken out and publicly taken a stand against terrorism, against Hamas and the millions who celebrate the shedding of Jewish blood — and want more.”
A year later, in remarks at the University of Southern California, which was honoring him for setting up the USC Shoah Foundation, the filmmaker briefly addressed the issue, warning about rising antisemitism including “the machinery of extremism is being used on college campuses”, which some of the groups he’s funding have been protecting, while also claiming that it’s “happening alongside anti-Muslim, Arab, and Sikh discrimination.”
Spielberg then appeared to denounce both Israel and Hamas, arguing that, “we can rage against the heinous acts committed by the terrorists of October 7th and also decry the killing of innocent women and children in Gaza.”
David Schaecter passed away in September 2025 without ever getting an answer. Meanwhile the anti-Israel hate groups funded by Spielberg’s foundation continue to demonize Israel.

What I do know is that Spielberg is way overrated. Sure, he has talent but way too often his movies reflect someone whose perspectives never got past those of an adolescent boy: the potty humor, the gross exaggerations, beating the audience over the head for shock value: in Raiders of the Lost Ark, not just a few spiders, scores of them, the extended, gratuitous and unnecessary extended nudity in Schindler’s list, extremely huge piles of dinosaur manure in Jurassic Park; making the stranded alien in E.T. so hideously ugly.
He absolutely got a pass on his anti-war message in Saving Private Ryan, which I believe was an insult to all those brave young men who gave their lives to save us from hitler and hirohito.
Most of his movies are either message movies or at least hit us over the head with his woke agenda.
It’s a shame he never grew up. If he had, he might’ve been worthy of the reputation that he’s been given.

In one scene a Jap gets killed crossing a creek. It might as well been a second killing of Jesus. There is is a tiny, aging contingent of old-school liberals who refuse to recognize that the Liberal does not mean what they like to think it means. Those people no more represent the Liberals than they represent today’s Democratic party.
And we can talk about how today’s conservatives—(no, make that last year’s conservatives, before the New Insane RW emerged)—are actually the true classical liberals.
And that’s true… kind of, sort of… in a way.
When I was a kid in the 70s (which is actually after the shift had begun), no one in everyday conversation referred to conservatives as liberals, “real” or “classical” or otherwise. Liberals were the crazy people on the Left, the ACLU… the folks always fighting to free convicted murderers, always more concerned with the rights of animals & criminals than law-abiding people… anything that went against conventional norms.
And yes, for at least 25 years now, the only ones really standing strong for individual liberty, and the rights of the American citizen, and genuine Free Speech & individualism are the conservatives.

Funny cat, but I think if anything confirms that SS has always had more loyalty to his liberalism than Judaism. It would be this early betrayal. I never caught the nuance you’re talking about. At the time that I saw it I was unaware that there were people that had such nefarious and subtle intentions to propagandize others. It was impossible for something like that to exist to me at the time and an incredibly absurd proposition. I still wish the world was not so absurd.
To me it was a movie about how the Israelis got righteous revenge on some truly horrible lunatics. The slimes were bitter, cowardly soldiers still fighting their lost war against Israel and using terrorism. I don’t intend to rewatch the movie but I suspect you’re right.

I don’t disagree with what you say, but one has to notice that every polity on the planet, no matter how unsophisticated, divides into two main groups that argue about everything — one group being generally realists (often traditional and conservative) and the other being utopian. A Korean friend of mine described for me the evolution of all Korean Christian churches, which form warring groups when they reach a size of 300 congregants and then form two churches.
With regard to the proto-Hebrews, I don’t think they actually split out of any single entity. Instead, they condensed separately out of many small settlements and tribes into two nations, Israel and Judah. Related to one another but with substantial differences. Living as they did in O.T. times in the middle ground between three regional powers (Assyria, Egypt, and Babylon) they were subject to endless stirring that required to the end of the iron-age before they could form a consistent monotheism and set of religious and cultural practices. Thank God they did, though.
That constant stirring provided by greater external powers and internal utopian beliefs makes the O.T. times seem a lot like today.

During Robert Hurd’s testimony before the House Judicial Committee chairman Jim Jordan talked about Biden being motivated by the two drivers of human behavior, Greed and Pride. It was a reference to testimony around the money Biden received for a book he was writing. Jordan left out one equally important driver of human behavior, FEAR.
It is painful for me as a Jew to watch the presence of so many Jews demonstrating in support of pathological Jew hatred. I think it can only be understood as being motivated by fear. These are not stupid people. They most assuredly understand the importance of getting “cause and effect” correct. And there is no end of evidence that the essential obstacle to a real peace between Israel and the Arabs is the Arabs implacable hostility to having a substantial majority Jewish population on any territory in between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
While demographics (Israel outnumbered 57-1 by Muslim majority states and Jews outnumbered by Muslims world-wide 100-1), the need for access to mid-east oil and the desire to avoid terrorism through appeasement of the Arab states, drive much of European opposition to Israel, it can’t explain one third of New York’s Jews voting for a mayoral candidate who condemns Israel for defending itself.
Like the Jewish Democrats in Congress and many Jews in academia and too many Jews in Hollywood, the driving force for their failure to support Israel only makes sense if they are acting out of fear. Somehow, they seem to believe if they only remain silent in the face of the obvious lies that are told about the origins of the Gaza War, they will be exempt from the prejudice and violence that is visited on Jewish defenders of Israel.
Or as Michael Savage used to say, liberalism is a mental disorder.

Steven Spielberg has done more to bring attention to the brave Americans in WWII than any other person in Hollywood. Spielberg also exposed the Nazi brutality in magnificent perfection. It is heartbreaking to see his wokeness get the best of him. He lives in a Hollywood bubble and seems to always support the liberal communists and their fantasies about Israel. It seems like wokeness is a higher priority than his Jewishness. The Jews need him now more than ever. It is hard to believe that he objects to the retaliation of the blood spilled on October 7th. It seems like Hollywood types are always acting out of a sense of guilt for their great wealth. It is a tragedy that they have abandoned their core principles because of the pressure of producers, actors and the like. This pressure has created a bubble of cinematic sheep, who follow the person who can further their career regardless of the moral implications.
I trust that the pedestal will break under the pressure of the righteous that seem to be making great gains under President Trump. This Hollywood hotbed of serpents will eventually be dismantled when conservatives refuse to support them financially. Until then their hatred and separation from reality will continue.

I have read all of the above comments and most of them criticize Spielberg , but a not word about financial support by the Moslem Brotherhood , CAIR, Qatar and the dozen of other Muslim organizations raising and funding Hamas , Hezballah , PLO that continue to murder Jews around the world! Spielberg will eventually realize that these terrorist groups have one agenda and only one agenda—to kill Jews wherever they live. It could be Israel, Australia, USA, Canada. Is Hollywood next?? When that happens Hollywood will wake up to the scary reality that Jews everywhere live with. That’s why our schools and places of worship have cops posted outside. But they can’t be everywhere! We talk about the New York bubble which is drowning in the Kool Aid of identity politics, gender politics, sexual perversity (furries e.g.) and so on yet that’s nothing compared to what I’m reading here. Out in La La land their like the fish that swims in the water and doesn’t know that they’re doing that. Period. Twisted beyond belief. Meanwhile the Chinese and the Islamists are laughing up their sleeves just biding their time as the Western civilizations are being sucked into a whirlpool of depravity. Beware.
Or come see “The Story of Sal B and Barbranne: A Mob Fantasia (The Sopranos Meet Mad Max) or Cyrano Redux” closing this Sunday at Theater for the New City (155 1st Ave). I wrote it because with two major wars (Ukraine and Israel) and a possible larger one looming (Taiwan invaded by China ) I felt we should examine what Rostand the playwright of the classic play Cyrano de Bergerac was prophecying (wrote it in 1899 just before WWI broke out – which no one thought possible – esp Andrew Carnegie and which had nothing to do with ideology – jusst great power competition) So I see that as a warning. Ostriches pay a high price for sticking their heads in the ground.

Disappointed that Spielberg & many other Hollywood players – especially Jewish ones – do not support Israel’s right to defend itself. These are people who do not have to fear losing their jobs or social position, yet they persist in backing pro-terrorist positions so as to be accepted as “one of the crowd.” History continues to repeat itself, & too often, we often don’t learn from it. There are so many examples of this type of scenario, but I cite a relatively recent one that even Spielberg knows. It happened to German Jews during the turbulent years preceding & surrounding our two World Wars. Despite their primary allegiance to the countries they lived in, believing they were fully assimilated, too many ended up in Nazi gas ovens just like their less fortunate, perhaps less monied & more obviously (stereotypically) “Jewish” landsmen. Things seems to be no different today. Diviseness serves no one, & can ultimately lead to destruction of an entire group. It’s much like a chess game, where pawns are the sacrificial lambs & are eliminated first by an implacable enemy working up through a hierarchy of knights, bishops, castles, etc., all ostensibly defending the seat of power, the king, until he too falls. Spielberg seems to be just one such pawn of many., one more sacrificial lamb. Too bad he doesn’t recognize it. What a waste, what a pity.

Did they bother with scenes of the Nazis disarming the Jews since Schindler armed the Jews with Guns?
The remedy for Steven Spielberg would to join an orthodox Jewish men’s group and get regrounded I his faith. The Holy Spirit will take care of rest and right the wrongs with sorrow for sins committed and days of atonement.
