Back when I was doing our Disloyal Military pamphlets on military wokeness, one of the points I made about the infection in the academies was that it began when the Clinton administration had pushed in civilian leftist professors.
Now Secretary of Defense Hegseth, whom we are incredibly lucky to have (because he’s making real changes, not just tweeting and going on podcasts) has been driving them out and the media is outraged.
“What do Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth have against soldiers listening to civilians?” Politico asks.
What are they supposed to be listening to? The core subject of the profile is a professor who interrogates gender norms
Years later, at CUNY graduate school, Parsons began untangling his childhood urges, thanks to mentorship from two prominent feminist philosophers: Virginia Held and Linda Martín Alcoff.
In one 2023 paper, Parson argues that American society has established male gender norms that shape and inspire military service, in part by normalizing the idea that the male soldier is “expendable.”
…but there’s also this really revealing quote.
Retired General Martin France, himself an Air Force Academy graduate and former chair of the academy’s department of astronautics and engineering, views this military campus crackdown, which includes complementary work by other federal bodies, as a myopic effort to eliminate courses that encourage independence, an instinct echoed by many of the more than 20 current and former civilian and military faculty I spoke with, many of whom were granted anonymity to freely discuss the conditions of the crackdown.
“Our officers should be sentient beings who understand just war theory, the laws around conflict, the orders that they are morally obligated to disobey,” France said, arguing that the Trump administration, by contrast, wants to breed compliance rather than teach nuance. This, in turn, France alleged, forms an officer class of “flesh-and-bone drones.”
It’s about getting officers who obey the Left not the elected commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Martin France has a point. that is he has a point if he could give an example or examples of Clinton or Obama orders to ignore.. Such ignoring Obama and giving Ben Ghazi air support.
Parson actually has a valid point, but in my opinion he comes by is dishonestly.. I would argue that anyone, who glibly utters “it is not ours to reason why, it is ours to do or die,: is an idiot a user and an abuser. If you are really concerned about soldiers being expended, then you would not what a QDR is, What military capabilities and Limitations are. What a combat results table is. Consistent funding.
Policies are not made on the basis of a Lord Tennyson or Emma Lazarus poems. Also, if you hold your troops to be too dear, you will always lose.

If you click through to the Poltico article, you see that Parson is not much.
But the excerpt of the article that Greenfield gave shows that much in in the 1st 3 sentences, which is a really devasting character sketch of Parson..
Leftist attempt to take over the military.
“Our officers should be sentient beings who understand just war theory, the laws around conflict, the orders that they are morally obligated to disobey,” France said…
Yes, they should. France illogically and sneakily implies that only he and his ilk are qualified to impart such lessons. He is arrogant, dishonest, and wrong.
As the left has influenced the rules of engagement in conflict, been overly zealous about their DEI versions of soldiers and attempted to influence the higher education of those attending the specialized war colleges, we are witness to losing every conflict utilizing their underlying, appeasement strategies. Weakness claiming to be strength is not sentient it is stupidity!!
We do not have the draft. Those signing up for a four-year stint as a soldier know quite clearly that the Commander-in-Chief under whom they will serve is critically important in signing up.
Soldiers must be able to trust the acumen of the President and their superiors in the most brutal of situations. Soldiers must be trained in order to both survive and complete their missions under what are sometimes-horrific circumstances..
Those advocating this disobedience, clearly lack any sentient understanding of the realities of war.
War is uncompromising and soldiers MUST BE PREPARED for contingencies in order to help them develop the mental toughness necessary for their survival and that of fellow soldiers.
Trump is not a war monger. He is also not a wuss. That cannot be said of many upper echelon, career soldiers who have cultivated strategies of submission and defeat under the influences of the left.
Men and women in war must be capable of instantly pivoting in response to the unexpected and having a Commander-in-Chief who is strong and educated along with highly trained and effective military superiors is a requisite for success.
It’s the endless, fruitless attempts of those for whom enemy capitulation is their “go-to” strategy who are deliberately masking their very treasonous alliances against our nation. These attempts to undermine our armed forces by encouraging insubordination to Trump are a clear “tell” of their true motives and the sentient argument is complete horse sh*t; they nothing more than insufferable cowards with hidden loyalties to our enemies.
Encourage independence? In the march and die military? Where do these idiots come from? Parsons should’ve been thrown into a trashcan at birth for the good of humanity. America needs to thank God for President Trump. Shit-can all those anti-American assholes. I bet Parsons wants more tranny Admirals.
Leftism gets Our Military Members killed! The Rules of Engagement that the left inflicted on Our Soldiers effectively let the enemy SHOOT at them and then just drop their guns and walk away! How crazy is that? And never forget those Thirteen who were sacrificed during the humiliation resulting from the biden bunglers! The left is simply incapable of doing what’s right for Our Nation!
the wokeness in military academies that ignores chain of command is hypocrisy. Those young cadets come out confused with their eyes crossed or at least their mind’s crossed. As protest to ignore the Commander In Chief’s orders, they should ceremoniously wear a tutu around their uniform and it seems many of them would love to wear a tutu every day. (Nothing against ballerinas.)
So why the hell didn’t they obey orders in the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle in 2021?
That’s F’d up this BS is of the chain of command ignoring the President of the United States.
Gen Milli Vanilli was canned and his portrait removed from the Pentagon.
That treasonous SOB would warn enemies if he was let into the secrecy of a strike planning session.
That is how real this is.
Thank you once again Professor Dan!
Idiocy and stupidity know no bounds.
Our armed forces should be able to trust their superiors to do their best to keep them as safe as possible, even while putting them in harms way.
That’s what all the training is about.
Thinking about your situation is encouraged, as long as it applies to the mission, getting it done, and getting back to base.
Those who are teaching our personnel to disobey orders they think are morally wrong ought to be front and center in the next military engagement. Let’s see how long their teachings last.
Thank you for this article, Mr. Greenfield.
The principle of disobeying illegal commands is, as far as I know, relevant only at the bottom level of the command structure when at war. For example, an order to kill unarmed civilians or torturing captives for information. It’s not applicable at the upper echelons, and certainly not at the Executive level. This is just another example of a leftist distorting interpretations of principles to sow confusion, and in this case, insubordination.
