Anti-Americanism abroad is hardly a new or rare phenomenon. I’ve experienced it myself as far back as the late 1980s when I backpacked throughout Europe. It wasn’t new or rare even then, but that was before countless neighborhoods and mass transit in western Europe were transformed by uncontrolled migration from Africa and the Middle East into increasingly Third World hellscapes.
A short video clip filmed at the beginning of February has made its way onto social media, showing a pair of vacationing mothers from Alabama and their two 12-year-old daughters, who were confronted and terrorized by a knife-wielding man aboard a train in Brussels, Belgium.
Amanda Hardy, one of the mothers, later told reporters that a man emerged from the train car bathroom and approached them, first asking whether the women were American. He then asked, Hardy recounted, “‘Do you like ICE?’ And we did not respond to that. He then pulled out a knife – our estimation is about 18 inches long or so. He then threw down a jacket and a scarf on the ground, and that’s when he said, ‘F__ ICE, I can shoot too. I shoot faster than Americans.’”
Hardy and her friend Courtney Sucher began hurrying their children to the far side of the train car. The jittery video shows the group fleeing with their luggage through the crowded train, screaming for help, while no other passengers appeared to intervene or assist.
The indispensable Libs of TikTok account on X posted a news report:

It took the women and their daughters an estimated three minutes to exit the train, Hardy said. “We don’t know how far he was chasing us, if he was chasing us at all, if he disappeared into the crowd or sat down. But he stood there and acted as if he had done nothing.”
After the group exited the train, four bystanders approached to offer comfort and assistance. “They were literally angels on earth. They stayed with us until we felt okay or at least, we thought we felt okay,” Hardy said.
One bystander suggested that the group contact the U.S. Embassy. Hardy spent 40 minutes on separate calls reporting the incident and requesting assistance with their travel plans. But the embassy response was anything but reassuring.
“I was literally pleading with our U.S. Embassy, saying someone tried to kill us because we’re American. Can you please send someone? But the response was, ‘It’s the weekend,’ and since you have your passports, this is generally not something we do,” Hardy said.
Hardy stated that two Brussels police officers who arrived were kind to them but others appeared skeptical of their story, defending the attacker as probably just being drunk:
The issue was the attitude of law enforcement toward what occurred. For example, one of the officers showed complete disregard for the assailant’s actions by saying he was intoxicated; and when he saw that one of us was wearing a New York hat, it upset him. That was incredibly frustrating, too.
The officers reportedly provided no assistance when the group needed to board the same train again to continue to Bruges. One officer even threatened to “detain” one of the daughters for addressing him. “If you talk to me again, I will detain you with the man that ‘tried to kill you’ [he said this while gesturing with “air quotes”] because that’s how you do it in America,” Hardy said.
Hardy has since vowed to advocate publicly for changes to emergency procedures involving children abroad. “There needs to be a review and change of emergency protocol when children are involved. We cannot abandon children in a foreign country when someone attempts to kill them because they’re American. We have to do better,” Hardy said.
The Brussels embassy finally reached out, according to Hardy in a Facebook post:
Today I received a phone call from the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium, Bill White. He listened, apologized on behalf of the Embassy and on behalf of the President, and he took immediate action to change policies at the Belgium Embassy so that no other American family is left in that position. We could not have asked for more. Unfortunately, I did learn that, although the assailant was detained while we were there, he was almost immediately released by Belgium authorities. [emphasis added]
Hardy and Sucher reportedly believe this happened to them because they are American and because of their perceived political beliefs (hence the question about ICE). I think it’s clear that this is so.
As for the perpetrator: the lack of even a rough description in the media, the presence of an 18-inch knife, the casual terrorizing of women and children in public… Add an unsympathetic police force to the mix, and all this points to the usual suspects – and it’s not indigenous French men.
This incident thankfully ended with no physical harm to the women. There are certainly more disturbing recent examples of skyrocketing knife crime in Europe, but this incident reflects a disheartening reality of western Europe today that Americans abroad must bear in mind.
First, the increasing danger of taking mass transit in Europe – or sightseeing in any public space – thanks to a burgeoning underclass of unassimilated, military-age Muslim males who despise Westerners, especially Americans, and who treat Western women with undisguised, predatory aggression. On a train, you are trapped in an enclosed space, and with rare exceptions, fellow passengers will not come to your defense, even if you are a woman with a child, especially if they perceive that you are American.
Second: law enforcement in Western Europe is a mixed bag, with some officers just as likely to charge you with Islamophobia as take a violent migrant into custody – whom they will then release.
Third, American tourists cannot take for granted that their embassies abroad will be a safe haven just a phone call away.
In response to this news item posted on X, a female friend of mine wrote, “And this is why I refuse ever to return to Europe after having enthusiastically vacationed there over the past several decades.” Tragically, I’m coming to the same conclusion.

Belgium a nation famous for its chocolate and chocolate soldiers who run when the heat is turned up surrendered almost without a fight in WW2 & collaborated with the Nazis including in the Holocaust. It would be better if Trump kicked out their embassy, imposed a %10,000 tariff on them & withdrew from NATO. Just let the Imlamonazis have them. They will soon be begging Putin and the Russian Army to come and rescue them.
Well, if anyone feels inclined to criticise Belgium over WW2, or indeed any of the nations that stayed out of it, hasn’t what happened to Poland during WW2 and in the years since given them pause for thought?
The Polish army, my father, a para, among them, fought on the Allied Side and the people of Poland put up a fierce resistance from day 1 of the invasion. And they were up against the powerful armies of Hitler and Stalin who were working in alliance. So they suffered terribly for it.
As soon as the war ended, my father and his comrades were re-designated “fascist brutes” and barred from the Victory parade. It was a victory they had risked their lives to help obtain. And we have been vilified and “untered” ever since by the most powerful media and academe in the world.
What is the lesson here?
Putin and Russia have enough problems of their own with taking on the stupidity of a suicide cult.
I want to give you a 👍🏾. Fortunately I do sign up with Any Social media site. Unless it’s EPOCH TIMES. Or THE FLYOVER. I agree the euros & lately the UK don’t want Americans just American dollars.
Time to pull out of NATO which is headquartered there. They are not our friends or grateful for our protection. Our state department and its political associated ambassadors are in many cases useless. Need to replace with DOW staffs.
So much of Europe is trying very hard to be not worth being defended by America. Yet, not doing so means surrender to the obvious enemy. At the same time, that enemy is here and must be given no quarter.
Detained – but ALMOST IMMEDIATELY RELEASED by the authorities. But if anyone had tried to intervene, and the attacker had got hurt, would they have been released so quickly? We all know what the rules are, and it is a powerful disincentive to come to assist people caught in these circumstances. That, along with getting stabbed of course.
Not that I could do much these days anyway, unless I could strike them a powerful blow with my zimmer – or sling one of my hearing aids at their forehead, David and Goliath style. What I do know though is how to approach our Creator, the God of Abraham, in prayer and ask for his help. And as I am a Jehovah’s Witness, I do try to share this knowledge with all who will listen.
Sadly there were no American lads on the train to disarm and tie up the terrorist as happened a few years ago on a train from Brussels to Paris. Belgium has not produced anyone of note since Hercule Poirot.
It is a made up nation – the Europeans and their fantasies …
That the Brussels “police” officers acted in that manner to the victims says it all Since my last trip to Europe–a marvelous Xmas market river cruise on the Danube in 2015–I have been longing to do another on the Rhine. But the world I visited then is, apparently, now dying. My god, the cultures that gave us Beethoven, Mahler, Vaughan Williams, gothic cathedrals, etc.–all dying. They won’t even stand up for themselves. And it is starting to happen here. It makes me want to weep.
I hear the libtards in the U.S. clapping and chanting ICE OUT! .
The world is full of Maryland Men – best stay at home. Europe is no longer a safe amusement park.
Renee Notso Good & Nurse Notso Pritty were malleable fools PAID to do mischief. (Both were unemployed, so why not.)
Both idiots bum-rushed cops – Good with her SUV (Guess SUVs got forgiven; EV Teslas got burned), and Pritty with an evil, icky gun.
So low-lifes, imported to Brussels, act like Gestapo goons for the same “cause” of Good & Pritty
(Soros & the DNC were able to market their bullshit across the ocean.)
Leftist claim to hate fascism, yet . . .
¹ they scream demands that we comply & join in on shouting “F ICE!” with them. (kinda like “Heil Hitler!” wad once required)
² set up check points “papers, please!”
³ control the streets like Brown Shirts.
⁴ surround & attack Jews on campus.
⁵ paint swastikas
⁶ invade/attack Christian churches.
⁷ surround & attack vehicles of any conservatives – real or perceived.
Any conservative among leftist crowds KNOW they’ll be accosted or attacked.
Contrast that with a liberal woman who was warned about attending a Trump rally in 2016.
Despite her friends assuring her she wouldn’t be safe, she found out two things . . .
¹ she was treated warmly & cordially.
² conservatives aren’t anything close to how they’re portrayed in the press.
The experience made such an impact, that she hosted a 5-minute PragerU video.
Tea Party rallies were brief (conservatives work for a living) & the place was left better than they found it.
OWS encampments needed hazmat teams afterwards (around $50,000 per event).
Visit Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic or Slovakia. They’re beautiful, well run countries where the few islamopithecines know their place……at the bottom.
Shame I have to write this, but necessary. A very good self defense tool to carry is bear spray. Why? Because not like a regular small hand held can of mace that sprays maybe 3 to 4 feet, the bear spray will shoot 10 to 15 feet and prevent the attacker from getting close to you. I carry bear spray with me most times and have it in my primary vehicle always. With bear spray you WILL incapacitate an attacker and you’ll not have to worry about the ramifications of killing the person. Bear spray WILL stop anyone and anything. While not dirt cheap, It’s not terribly expense either. About $40 a can. Of course if you are in the USA and have a CCW permit, then so much the better. But with bear spray it is 100 percent legal and you need no permit. It is not considered a weapon so you can carry it concealed without a permit. I have used it on a gut that was going to attack me and it stopped him cold.
Visited Austria, France, Germany and the Netherlands Sept. 2025 and every friend told me in advance not to use the major rail services as in they were crowded and dangerous for tourists. My rental car took me everywhere safely. I will mention my travels in EU since 1984 have all been by auto.
Let the Europeans take care of their own problems. They have a condescending view of Americans, viewing us as unwashed troglodytes. NATO is a scam on the American taxpayer. The aggregate population of the NATO countries is around 500 million versus 333 million for the U.S., yet we pay for around 70% of NATO’s cost. We are subsidizing the European’s defense, helping pay for their generous social programs: lifetime unemployment benefits, free college, free medical care, month long vacations, etc. These countries are self destructing anyway by freely admitting hordes of migrants that will not assimilate. The most common name for baby boys in some European countries is Muhammed; Europeans will someday be living under sharia. Let Europe take care of itself. The only beneficiaries of NATO are the MIC and the corrupt politicians that it pays off.
Mark, during the mid-1970s, when I was in college, I met a friend in Paris one summer. We went out to dinner and afterwards were chased by a gang of Algerian “youths.” Luckily we were younger and more fit, and so escaped without bodily harm. Nevertheless, it was very frightening. The next morning we called the US Embassy to report the attack. They were not helpful and not interested. All they said was that we could file a police report with the gendarmerie if we liked, but from the lackadaisical response we assumed nothing would come of that. I honestly don’t remember if we went to the police station or not. In any case, the embassy obviously had no interest in the safety of ordinary American citizens abroad at that time. Sounds like not much has changed since then, unfortunately–sad!
ISLAMISTS NOT WELCOME
European history is repeating itself with the Nazis erstwhile muslim allies. This time around, the US should only ally with countries who are serious about ending the muslim threat now and forever going forward. Anything less and we might as well sit on our asses and be passive spectators to our own demise. And make no mistake about it, the muslims intentions towards non-muslims are quite clear.
Weakness is provocative and often incurs deadly consequences. In this reality, the strong survive, the weak perish. That maxim applies to all life on this planet and there are no exceptions.
