The Israelis were furious that Hamas returned only four of the 28 bodies of hostages murdered by the terror group that it had promised to deliver, and decided to apply pressure to force Hamas to look much harder for the 24 remains still in Gaza. Israel on Tuesday decided not to reopen the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt the next day, as required by the ceasefire deal, accusing Hamas of failing to stand by its commitment to return the bodies of all dead hostages still held by Palestinian terrorists in the Strip.
Israel said it would also reduce the amount of aid flowing into Gaza as part of the sanctions against the terror group.
The moves followed assessments by Israeli defense officials that Hamas has not made significant efforts to return the remaining bodies of the hostages, and amid rising anger among their families, with the main group representing them demanding that the ceasefire agreement’s implementation be halted until their loved ones are returned.
Hamas, unsurprisingly, is failing to live up to its commitments. When it originally said it would return the bodies of 28 Israelis, it was assumed Hamas either possessed those bodies or knew exactly where they were located and could be retrieved. Neither assumption turned out to be true. Now Hamas claims that it can’t find the bodies, that many are under the rubble and may never be found. The Israelis do not think Hamas has made much of an effort, and in order to concentrate the terror group’s mind, the Israelis have refused to open the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, and are also allowing only half of the aid trucks that were due to enter Gaza. After that Israeli announcement was made, Hamas suddenly said that it had, after all, just found four more bodies and would be returning them on Tuesday night. While Hamas may have thought that would be enough to persuade Israel to open the Rafah crossing and allow all the aid trucks in, not just half of them, it is more likely that, having seen how its pressure caused Hamas to come up so quickly with four more bodies, Israel will continue limiting aid and keeping the Rafah crossing closed until many more — a dozen? — bodies are produced.
There is another reason why Hamas may be reluctant to turn over bodies it possesses. Some of the hostages were likely tortured and murdered in captivity, and their bodies could tell a tale of eyes gouged out, genitalia cut off, and skulls smashed in. Hamas doesn’t want that to be known, so it won’t ever be turning over those bodies.
Now we will have to wait to see how many of the 20 bodies still in Gaza after the second group of four has been turned over, Hamas will manage to find and deliver to the Israelis, and when, in response, Israel will deem that number sufficient both to open the Rafah crossing, and to let in all of the aid trucks scheduled to enter Gaza.

Why bring up Kushner? Anyone with half a brain knows that there will never be peace with the Hamites.
I agree that there will not be peace. Kushner is being brought up because he is being heralded as a neutral peace negotiator when, in fact, he has been in the Saudi/Qatar camp since Trump’s first term. That is important to understand that his work was never intended to bring balance to the area, never bless Israel, but subjugate Israel to the Islamic countries around her and bring in the Two State solution. God will not take dividing the land lightly.
Because it looks too much like “follow the money” once again. You must know that Qatar is the funder of Hamas and Witkoff was bailed out of a hotel mess by Qatar.
Or they could still be alive and were sold as sex slaves (both men and women). Another reason why it is so important to recover the bodies.

How about ?? —
First, requiring Hamas to disclose where the hostage/prisoners had been kept — whereupon, the IDF can then itself exhume the bodies.
Secondly, there is no remaining reason of substance, now — i.e., inasmuch as there are no more living hostages in captivity — to refrain from flooding the Hamas tunnels with effluent from Israel toilets — thereby reducing sewage processing costs to Israel. Yet further, the Gazan earth should be salted, such that nothing will grow there for 10,000 years.
Thirdly, no more Israeli (or American) food for Gazans,
And, finally, the 50+ muslim countries should each be “leaned-on” to take-in a fair allotment of their Gazan co-religionists.
I don’t agree with salting the earth. That portion of land belongs and was deeded to Israel. What needs to happen is the total and complete destruction of Hamas and the people removed from GAZA. Then Israel and Israel alone needs to reoccupy that land. Sharon was pressured worldwide to give up their own land for peace, a peace that we knew would never happen. We see the horrible results of the world’s pressure. Israel stands alone with the One True Lord above and she has to fight to keep what is rightfully hers. Trump’s attitude should have been to help Israel defeat this enemy in any and every way. I’m sick of his chumminess with Qatar! Return that stupid plane and free Israel to do what must be done.
Other than being a public relations disaster and will likely rally Israelis into demanding their own suicide…who wants stupid comments and random bitching.
What stops it is taking land everytime there is a terrorist attack and kicking the slimes out. Everytime there is any type of terrorism it happens. That and when a neighboring country treats the Jews or Christians exceptionally poorly you threaten to “protect” them if there are no results in the political establishment rectifying the situation.
The hamas feudal lords are the ones to attack if you want a half baked formula. Which means no money and no aid in any form and disappearance of the whole criminal family even if they only steal from their countrymen. Leverage them if you want a feel good thing.

So, instead of releasing more Hamas terrorists (qua criminals) — simply hold ~2,000 Hamas “bodies” — i.e., for the equitable “body exchange”.
Only Trump, Witkoff and Kushner, themselves compromised by both the current and their hopeful, soon-to-be signed business deals with multiple Middle Eastern nations (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye and several others) would ink a peace deal predicated on the return of both the remaining live and dead hostages by Hamas. They actually trusted Hamas??
And why, has VP Vance traveled to Israel to keep them from “re-starting” the war. Who is the guilty party here? Where’s the tough-talking rhetoric from Trump? Thankfully, the living hostages were returned. However, to have EVER assumed that Hamas would keep this agreement is beyond foolhardy and it now remains extremely dangerous for Israel
Additionally, as written this is article, reneging on returning the dead Israelis is but another play in both covering up what Hamas likely did to the deceased before their deaths or some of them are not dead but they have been trafficked out of Gaza.
For Trump, Witkoff and Kushner, all of them illiterate about the dictates of Islam and arrogant enough to believe that inked, business deals will supplant millennia of hate-filled hostilities toward Israel and their permanent jihad against the Jewish people is to have negotiated, not for Israel but instead for the surrounding Arabs. Now, through “administration” these Arab nations will have intimate knowledge of and power over some of what Israel is “allowed” to do.
In street terms, this entire deal is a colossal, cluskerf**k for Israel
As a Jew, I am definitely of the opinion that in his quest for peace (at any cost to Israel) and for business deals ( from which Trump, Witkoff and Kushner will handsomely profit), they betrayed the Jewish people.
Families of the now-released hostages have relentlessly cared about nothing else and both their and the Knesset’s applause for this multi-phase deal is to have mocked the G-d of Israel, our eternal covenant and the strategic security of the nation.
Where Israel and our Jewish people are concerned, I no longer trust Trump at all. It is a shanda!!

FYI, a “deal” is defined as something that neither side will like.
I am not one of his sycophantic followers and I have every right to criticize the President. Unfortunately for you, I have been involved in negotiations and never agreed to lopsided deals and if anyone involved had even minimal interests, they were summarily disqualified because their interests negated any reasonable prediction of them operating without prejudice and bias during the negotiations.
I guess perhaps you are not noted for reading the fine print.

I agree. Those people were put through a living hell and I believe their bodies would tell the tale. Hamas knows this. Also, I think it is possible that hamas burned those bodies to hide just exactly what was done.
I never believed for one second that hamas would fulfill all of their promises. They will continue to lie as long as they get by with it. Hamas should be exterminated like the inhumane animals they are. Whatever it takes!
