When I was a kid, America fretted about “the heartbreak of psoriasis,” an advertising catch-phrase that raised awareness to an almost hysterical degree about a skin condition that legitimately afflicts millions of people. Today, a legitimate psychological condition is bringing heartbreak to untold millions, perhaps even tens of millions, of Americans who need relief: Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS.
In the wake of the Right-wing rout of blue states in last week’s election, Democrat talking heads have devolved into angry finger-pointing and circular firing squads as they wrestle with understanding how it is possible that America could have rejected their agenda so resoundingly. Some Democrats have even begun to wonder if perhaps a little self-examination is in order, but it seems that far more progressives cannot quit externalizing the blame and directing their fury at anyone in a MAGA hat – even among their own friends and family members.
Unhinged examples of disappointed Kamala Harris supporters abound on the internet, especially at the Libs of TikTok account on X (formerly Twitter), which shares the emotional breakdowns of progressives who feel compelled, inexplicably, to exhibit their mental instability on social media for the wonder and entertainment of all.
Is it virtue-signaling? A catharsis of some kind? An existential cry into the void? Who knows, but these performances include such eyebrow-raising examples as the woman who shared a message for her family to “fuck off and choke on your turkey” at the holiday dinner she now won’t be attending. Another Kamala fan suggests to her fellow women that they should immediately divorce their Trump-supporting husbands, if not poison them.
These are actually pretty mild examples. There are of course many, many instances in which Democrat women and beta males literally cry and scream their election frustration into the camera, and those videos are rather amusing in a schadenfreude kind of way. But there are some that reveal a disturbing and distinctly not amusing degree of bitterness and hate.
An X user named Derek, for example, tweeted, “I have cut ties with my MAGA father and sister. I will never, ever speak to them again. I’ll spit on their graves. If you still hang out with your ‘friends’ or family that voted for fascism, you need a long look in the mirror.”
It sounds like the person who needs to take a long look in the mirror is Derek. If you look forward to spitting on the graves of your father and sister simply because they voted differently from you, you need professional help.
Sadly, this is par for the course for progressives whose consciousness is consumed with political activism, who subscribe to the old slogan that the “personal is the political,” and who have been whipped into a frenzy of hatred by the propagandist media and political leaders who relentlessly demonize their opponents as dangerous fascists, Nazis, deplorables, garbage, white supremacists, and so on.
As an extreme example of what this nonstop provocation can lead to: Libs of TikTok reported that a Minnesota man who had expressed his fear of a Trump-led government “inflicting their misguided beliefs” on his family, committed suicide after murdering his wife, his ex, and his two children after the election. Obviously there was something else deeply wrong with this man, but the panic-mongering to which he had been subjected by his Party’s messaging clearly was the trigger that pushed him over the edge.
The manipulative liars of the Left-wing media are the guiltiest of feeding this mental illness, which is what it begs to be called. A prime example is a recent episode of MSNBC’s The ReidOut, hosted by the race-mongering Joy Reid. She asked her guest, Yale University chief psychiatry resident Dr. Amanda Calhoun,
How do you interact with people you know voted for this? If you’re an LGBTQ person and know someone in your family voted essentially against your rights or you’re a woman, knowing this man was calling people the B word. JD Vance was literally calling Kamala Harris the trash. And said we’re going to take out the trash. I know a lot of black women were incredibly triggered by that. If you meet somebody and you know they voted for the people who called you trash, or if you’re Puerto Rican and you know someone voted that way, do you recommend just from a psychological standpoint being around them? We got the holidays coming up.
First, Reid’s claims about LGBTQ “rights” and Vance’s statements are complete distortions and even fabrications. Second, her question was obviously designed to lead her guest to suggest that progressives should refuse to make peace with Trump-supporting family members.
Dr. Calhoun did not disappoint. She replied to Reid, in part,
So if you are going through a situation where you have family members, close friends who you know have voted in ways that are against you, like what you said, against your livelihood, it is completely fine to not be around those people and tell them why. To say I have a problem with the way that you voted because it went against my very livelihood and I’m not going to be around you this holiday. I need to take some space for me… I think it may be essential for your mental health.
Again, this woman is a chief psychiatry resident at Yale University. Her professional advice is not that people set politics aside in order to heal and protect the far more important bonds of family and friendship, but that they confront and reject those family members and friends because you view them as enabling fascism, if not being fascists themselves.
Conservative schadenfruede over “liberal” meltdowns aside, the Left’s state of mind on this score is a deeply serious problem for Americans. A country cannot sustain itself internally when so many of its citizens are being driven to nurture a deep, unforgiving hatred and anger for their political opponents. This is a sickness that ruins friendships, that creates painful rifts in families, that divides us as antagonists, that leads to bloody division. This is what civil war does to a people.
That, of course, is the intention: to keep us at each other’s throats, to enmesh political conflict so deeply into the fabric of our personal relationships that we cannot extricate ourselves from it without war. This evil agenda must not be allowed to corrode us as Americans.

You point out why these upset individuals cannot easily get help for their derangement syndrome. Much of the mental health profession is themselves suffering from this mental illness. It is codified in current professional approaches and supposed ethics of practice.
There is a growing group in the UK challenging these “woke” approaches in mental health treatment, but it is still a minority. There is next to nothing organized in the US. One small group exists in NYC. There may be individual providers who do not hold such woke beliefs-its good to check ahead of time.
Training programs in psychiatry,, psychology, and others related fields encourage using therapy sessions to push ideas of identity such as white privilege, systemic racism, transgenderism instead of supportive helpful treatment.
.
Terry Ann Maes says
You are correct. The whole psychology, psychiatry and other therapists are trained in this. Between the media and those professions, they will never get well.
Rob A says
The way I see it the intent is not to get well but to normalized their particular insanity. Look at all the other mental afflictions that have been or are being “normalized.” For example: homosexuality, transgenderism, pedophilia, bestiality, infantilism, otherkin (people why identify as animals) and on and on it goes. And we’re expected to just accept it and tolerate it(?)
All of it falls under the umbrella of hedonism which is slowly dissolving the threads that holds our society together. The left is well acquainted with the word hedonism and the foibles and dangers of hedonistic pursuits and where it leads and so are counting on it.
The self anointed roll in the matter is to referee the orderly decline of America.

What companies employ psychos like the screaming dykes who are going berserk because a competent and decent man was reelected as President? I know CNN and MSNDC have lowland gorillas like Joy Reid on their payrolls because those institutions are run by psychos but what sort of company that wants to turn a profit hires freakshows like that?
You won’t have Thanksgiving with me? Enjoy the time with your cats shitting and pissing all over your hovels, you weirdos. Meow. I don’t want to share any turkey or mashed potatoes with you and I’m SURE not going to drill you. I’d rather drill a meat grinder.
We need to start bitch slapping these bitches in public. And that includes the Fem boys. I’ve seen videos of ostensible males shrieking and spitting because America hates them. Just die already, you misfits.

If they’re going to to be bitter and angry, perhaps they should stay away from Holiday family gatherings, where people are there to celebrate the Holiday and their family. They’ll poison the atmosphere, and some of these loons just might poison their family for real.
They never seem to consider their Trump supporting family members might be loving and supportive, and want to ease their distress. Better to keep thinking of them as the monsters they’ve been told they are.
I notice the woman that wants her extended family to choke on their turkey, has a son “at risk,” and a daughter that needs an IUD at 17. No mention of a father or husband, which isn’t surprising, given her apparent psychosis.
It’s easy to make fun of, but some of these ginned up people are proving deadly to themselves and those around them. This is part of the left breaking a few eggs to make an omlet.

And the ultimate result of breaking lots of eggs is mass graves. Hence, the first three quarters of the 20th century.
Madame DeFarge says
The common thread of all this psychosis is of course drugs. We have had 3 generations of mommy taking drugs during pregnancy and parenthood. Brother and sister also get drugs when they cannot cope with mommy at home as she runs screaming around the house.
It has also led to the trans game. Even birth control pill residue are detectable in our water system through the toilets emptying into the rivers. (there is no way to clean it out , they only drop chlorine in and hope for the best.) But at least drug companies and psychiatrists have a nice living.
Rob A says
Madame DeFarge:
You’ve touched on an issue that far bigger and more serious than you know. To put it succinctly, the pharmaceutical industry, the food manufacturing industry, the medical industry and the insurance industry are all trying to kill us all with the government’s (e.g., FDA, USDA, etc.) tacit approval.
How you might ask? For starters, believe it or not the pharmaceutical companies are not in the business of finding a cure for anything because there’s not profit in a cure. The profit is in a drug that helps you cope with your ailment. A drug that you’ll likely need to take for the rest of your life. Hence, profits for the pharmaceutical companies and their share holders.
You want proof? Take insulin for example. The need for insulin is the result of a metabolic disorder (type 1 & type 2 diabetes.) A disorder that’s results from the fact that your pancreas no longer make insulin. How did it get that way? Fact: diabetes is not hereditary. It is a self inflicted ailment that happened over decades of a poor diet (excess sugar and carbs.) This is where the food manufacturing industry comes into the picture.
Most of the “food” products we buy today at the grocery store and consume are not food naturally in nature and are the result of lab produced chemical that mimic the taste of natural food s are a far lower price. sparing the details, the end product[s] is called ultra-processed foods. In short, we consume a lot of ultra-processed foods that are unhealthy and completely foreign to human physiology. What’s more, almost all of it destroy the gut microbiome. The gut microbiome comprises 80% of the human immune system. And we destroy it on a daily basis by eating ultra-processed “synthetic garbage” that we wrongly called food.
What’s particularly insidious about ultra-processed foods is that chemists have long since learned how to synthesize the hunger hormone ghrelin. The hormone that tells your brain that you’re hungry. All fast foods are loaded with it (ever wonder why you can’t eat just 1 potato chip or 1 french fry?)
Then when you get sick, the medical and insurance industry moves in and you become another source of profit until you die.
Bottom line: a healthy person and healthy food is bad for business.

It sure does! How else to explain that, when asked, Kamala supporters have no frigging idea of any accomplishments during her tenure. The only reason they give for voting for her is “because she’s a woman” or “she’s black”. I would defy any man to say in front of a camera “I vote for Trump because he’s a guy and he’s white”!
Logic is lost on these deranged misfits…

“……because they voted differently from you, you need professional help.”
Doubt if that will help because many if not most psychiatrists, phycologists and therapists are leftists themselves.
CH says
Not really sure what Mr. Tapson is asking of conservatives with TDS relatives. My husband has a niece afflicted with it. She’s over 60 years old, a practicing Christian and a government employee. I sat across the dinner table from her when she went off on President Trump back in 2016 and she’s only gotten worse.
Are we supposed to just keep taking it? When they act that way – and think they’re brave for doing it – we should just ignore it for the sake of family unity? That’s not unity – it’s tolerating bullying.
Everyone else has to walk on eggshells for a misguided idea of “peace”. If the bad actors can behave themselves and exercise some self control, that’s one thing. But if they can’t there are worse things than an empty chair.
It’s tragic, but the ball is in their court
