People keep talking about ‘police defunding’. And Mamdani’s rise has rebooted that conversation. But the police have two basic functions. They’re not likely to show up in time to save the victim from the attack, but they can prevent the attack or the next one.
1. Deterrent
2. Arrest
The former was dismantled by the BLM era. Very few criminals are afraid the police will hurt them, shoot them or significantly inconvenience them. The latter became meaningless when bail was eliminated and diversion was introduced.
Much like the Biden ‘open borders’ policy turned the border patrol into coyotes, ‘criminal justice reform’ turned the cops into the escorts for a revolving door criminal justice system in which hardly any criminal gets locked up anymore.
As Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago recently argued after a woman was set on fire on a train, “We can’t incarcerate our way out of violence… it’s racist.”
(The 90s proved otherwise.)
Anyway here’s a typical case out of San Francisco.
A homeless drug addict with a long rap sheet is accused of beating a woman to death just months after a judge sent him into a diversion program for another violent crime, police sources and court records show.
Despite “life-saving efforts by first responders and medical personnel,” the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from SFPD.
Court records reviewed by The California Post reveal Allen was enrolled in a diversion program, despite prior arrests for second-degree robbery, battery, assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting injury on an elder or dependent adult, and possession of burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.
California’s diversion programs allow judges to steer defendants, often those with mental health or substance-use disorders, away from jail and into treatment — charges can then be paused or dismissed if the offender successfully completes the program.
The perp here is white so there’s no point in even pretending that this is about the bogeyman of ‘systemic racism’.
Allen had committed ‘assault with a deadly weapon’ and ‘inflicting injury on an elder or dependent adult’ and the system still gave him a pass until he killed someone. And don’t worry, there’ll be taxpayer lawyers out there making sure that the system gives him another pass by claiming that he was a victim of society.
The police are useless in cases like this unless some hero cop pulls the trigger. We’re back in the worst days of the 70s and all the cops can do is clean up the crime scene. The problem here rests with a system infested with judges, DAs and other personnel who have been infected with the ideology of criminal justice reform which says that there are no bad people (except Republicans) just people who have been victimized by class and race. This is why we’re in a wave of nightmarish violence.

Yeah, the problem is the politicians and such.
The best way to deal with violence is to kill it and to kill it publicly as an example to others
Bethany Magee is another member in a growing number of attractive white women targeted by low-life career thugs.
Iryna Zarutska is seen horrified & bewildered as she reacts to her attacker. Her young life ended.
Magee survived . . . if you can call it that.
Her faced is permanently & severely scared, and several skin-grafs await. Her life has been forever ruined.
The chickenshit media 1st reported her attack as an “altercation”; implying she was mouthing off. (Anything to help out her misunderstood attacker.)
Pava LaPere was a woke CEO in Baltimore.
Had she followed tenet protocol & not let the black non-resident in her condo building, she might have lived. (Her beaten corpse was found on the roof.)
Pava wasn’t going to be called a racist like Hilary Mueller, for not letting a black guy in the condo without a key-card.
Hilary was vilified as “racist” and even lost her job over the media frenzy. (Her building management elected not to come to her defense for following condo rules. It was easier to just let the media mob feed on her.)
They are also infected with the belief that incarceration is illegitimate if it doesn’t rehabilitate the criminal. This focuses on the miscreant’s wellbeing and ignores the the role of imprisonment in removing violent people from society and punishing them for their behavior, two entirely legitimate reasons to incarcerate.
happens when u let ******* run free
Bided released violent Felons from Prison so to allow them to Vote for Democrats who then disarms their victims and Sofe on Crime limp wristed judges free even more felons and that why Judges should be held responsible for crimes committed by violent felons
What do you mean by “diversion?:
No one should wonder why vigilantism emerges in a society that has no justice.
We need to bring back impeachment for judges.
“incarceration is racist…”
what an odd thing to say
“People love to vilify “. it is how useless people show off.
Those who complain the most are mostly the worst people The whiny jerk you work with will invariably turn into the most totalitarian boss, given the chance. Many women provide another good example.
It’s not that they are morally superior or smarter (as they imply ), it is that they gripe at the rules which are mainly needed to keep THEM from totally dumping on any society they’re part of.
Rioting and violent criminals, properly understood: The very worst people showing who they are, a great targeting opportunity which should not be wasted.
The actions of rogue prosecutors and judges also aim to demoralize the police.
