Order Robert Spencer’s new book, Holy Hell: Islam’s Abuse of Women and the Infidels Who Enable It: HERE.
The smarmiest and most self-righteous of all FBI directors, James Comey, has been indicted again. Fox News reported Tuesday that “the charges appear to be in relation to a May 2025 Instagram photo of an ‘86 47’ shell formation on a beach.” Comey claims that he didn’t know what “86” meant. His explanation of why he shared the photo, however, doesn’t stand up to even the most superficial scrutiny.
Fox explains that “in the slang often used in the service industry, to ‘86’ something means to eject, cancel or get rid of it. Donald Trump is currently the 47th president of the United States.” And in a tacit recognition that he knew he had crossed the line, Comey “removed the post the same day it was uploaded.”
The unctuous deep stater explained: “I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message. I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me, but I oppose violence of any kind, so I took the post down.”
Yeah, sure. These days, every other Democrat is calling openly for violence against Trump and his supporters, and the rest will get around to doing so soon enough. And so Trump himself responded: “He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant. If you’re the FBI director and you don’t know what that meant, that meant ‘assassination,’ and it says it loud and clear.”
Indeed, and if there is any lingering doubt, Comey’s (likely ghostwritten) potboiler crime novel, FDR Drive, removes it once and for all. In May 2025, Comey went on NPR to plug the book, and the propaganda outfit’s Leila Fadel stated: “At the heart of this crime novel are two questions – what is free speech, and what happens when someone’s words incite violence? The book is fiction, but those two questions are front and center to the political climate right now in the United States.”
Comey then explains that his novel is another example of the left’s massive hoax claim that “right-wing extremism” is a major source of violence in the U.S. He says that his book is “about a right-wing podcaster who is trying to motivate his followers to engage in acts of violence against the targets of his vitriol. And it’s about my protagonist, Nora Carleton, a federal prosecutor in Manhattan, trying to figure out, how do we stop the violence? And is there a way to hold this podcaster criminally accountable for what he clearly knows he’s doing? And that’s the trick because the line between speech and crime is – it should be clear, but it’s fuzzy.”
It was exactly that “fuzzy” line that Comey thought he was dancing upon when he posted his “86 47” photo. He clearly thought he could incite his slavering, hate-filled leftist followers to violence against Trump, while maintaining plausible deniability.
That deniability, however, becomes significantly harder to maintain when we see Fadel asking him about the “line between free speech and violent incitement and domestic terrorism, ideologically motivated violence.” Comey responds by claiming that he has had to “grapple with that very issue throughout my career.” And now he expects us to believe that he didn’t know what the implications of posting “86 47” were?
That’s what he’s claiming. Asked out the photo, Comey insisted that it was benign: “We were walking on the beach and saw an arrangement of numbers, as you said, in seashells and stopped, trying to figure out what it was. And it was Patrice who first said what you said. She first thought it was an address. Then, as we stared at it, I said, I think it’s a political message. And she said, I remember from – she worked for many years as a server, growing up. That’s a term from the restaurant industry. And so it was she who suggested I take the picture. I thought, that’s great. I took a picture and posted it ’cause I thought it was a clever political thing. Never occurred to me that someone would try to say it was associated with violence. I actually still don’t see that. But I took it down because I don’t want – I mean, this is my Instagram account, for God’s sakes. I don’t want anything on there to be associated with violence, even if I don’t get it.”
So here is a man who wrote, or more likely had written for him, a novel about veiled calls to violence, claiming that he didn’t know what he posted was a veiled call to violence. Sure, and Old Joe Biden won the 2020 election fair and square, too.

His “apology” and explanation makes it worse for him. As FBI Director he would have been involved in or signed off on investigations and prosecutions of gang members, etc. for this very thing. His signature will be on documents that actually say “86 so-and-so”. Everyone in law enforcement knows what this means.
No one over the age of 35 should have an instagram account.
It’s weak sauce. Comey directed a significant portion of the ‘coup’ or ‘color revolution’ against DJT. While he was not the only one, he was an important part of hampering and stalling America’s agenda.
He needs to be tried for treason and he needs to face the Death Penalty …
… and not for a sophomoric post.
Reminds me of Clinton. I’d go to jail right now for posting what little I know about all of Clinton’s crimes against the nation … but can we prosecute any of that?
To give you an idea – remember how Clinton handed nuclear secrets to the Norks? And the Chinese? And avionics? And on and on and on …
… but, hey, we ’embarrassed’ him with a blue dress.
That’s like a Bible thumpin’ preacher having a meltdown about adultery … at a convention of Only Fans fans.
Like who cares? That’s not a penalty.
If I unloaded what’s in my head … the FBI would break down my door, accuse me of treason, soak me for everything I’ve got, and send me to prison for 25-35 years … which is well over my expected remaining time on Earth.
And I’m just a straight, white, male, American engineer.
But the best they can do on this ACTUAL traitor is charge him for a shit post?
Screw the Demonkkkrats.
Can we IQ test the people on our team before we let them have the ball?
Agreed.
I’m certain that chickenshit weasel is who directed that the ones to testify against Hillary be given front-loaded amnesty. (Her tech who installed the unsecured server in her house, and a few others)
The intended result was that they cashed in and dutifully refused to testify about her criminal activities.
His role in the knee-capping “RussiaGate” hoax cannot be overstated.
He needs to have his trial involve all of it, and put in Gen-pop as Tommy Robinson was. (I doubt the bitch would latst a month.)
Hopefully Come(d)y will be asked “Did You arrange those shells”? Probably says NO. Did YOU see anyone arrange those shells? Probably says NO. Did YOUR Wife arrange those shells? Probably says NO. Was anyone else present when you “found” those shells? NO. Have you discussed this case with YOUR Wife? NO. Most likely ALL LIES!! Maybe his Wife should be Indicted since he said SHE “discovered” them and educated him on the meaning!!
I’ve enjoyed many of Robert Spencer’s books but this essay is disappointing. Sorry, but this makes Trump look petty. No doubt it appeals to his staunchest supporters, e.g. those who refuse to acknowledge the predictable, demonstrable negative impact of his tariffs, but defenders of free speech recognize the charge is nonsense. Anyone want to bet me $100 the charges end up going nowhere? I’ll donate $100 to the charitable cause that person chooses if I lose the bet.
As far as the inference that Biden won the election by fraud, it wasn’t fraud that explain the Presidency, House and Senate turning blue. How much did Fox News end up paying Dominion for its bogus claims? How much did Rudy Giuliani end up paying? Dinesh D’Souza?
What evidence do you have that the tariffs raised prices?
I think some businesses used the tariff’s as a way to increase profits for themselves.
I ordered flowers from a florist online. In the checkout it said something along the lines of ” A $6 temporary charge for tariffs will be applied to purchases.”
I was a little taken aback by this. A florist shop charging customers for the tariffs? I wonder how many businesses increased prices due to tariffs without saying it?
The evidence that tariffs raised prices is overwhelming. A tariff is a tax. A tax is a cost. Anyone who doesn’t think businesses raise prices in response to higher costs should explain to us why gas prices are now so high. The tariffs ARE DESIGNED to raise the cost of imports in the hope Americans will buy fewer imports. We need to recalibrate the Duhhhometer to accommodate those who are economics illiterate.
That so many Americans do not understand the benefits to the U.S. of the 50 consecutive years of capital account surpluses evidences the failure of our education system.
I have no clue how much the tariffs raised the cost of imported flowers. However, it is very easy to understand why any business would raise prices in response to higher costs. It does not follow at all that the increased prices resulting from the tariffs “as a way to increase profits for themselves.” Maybe, just maybe, if they didn’t raise prices they’d lose money.
Many businesses now charge extra if you pay with a credit card rather than cash. Duhhh! It’s because the credit card companies keep some percent of what the consumer pays.
Do check his resume, Mr Comey has an impressive education and career history, he’s no dummy.
And we’re supposed to to believe that he had no idea the meaning of a simple encryption; a former FBI director,
Really?
There is more to this indictment if you ask me. I don’t believe the grand jury indicted him over a simple Instagram post.
Did Comey really believe the American people are this stupid to believe that while walking the beach, he just stumbled upon a “rock formation” laid out as ’86 47?”
“Look at this cool rock formation.” If any sane person was walking the beach nobody would pay any attention to this. You would know that obviously someone put the rocks that way. Would anyone be so dazzled that they would take a picture and actually think the beach and tide caused that rock formation?
Comey placed those rock that way. People know, especially law enforcement, that 86 means to eliminate something. What an obnoxious weasel. These people are evil. How immature Is this guy?
The only one’s that seem to be clueless here are the panel at The View, and their audience.
So he posts political statements he doesn’t understand?
