Order Michael Finch’s new book, A Time to Stand: HERE. Prof. Jason Hill calls it “an aesthetic and political tour de force.”
Jihadist forces are building up in Syria under its ruthless former al-Qaeda jihadist president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who changed his image, visited the White House and has managed to find favor with President Trump, or so it appears. Now Trump has warned Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to “not interfere in Syria.”
“Trump speaks to Netanyahu, invites him to visit, warns Israel not to ‘interfere’ in Syria,” by Lazar Berman and Nava Freiberg, Times of Israel, December 1, 2025:
US President Donald Trump warned Israel via social media on Monday against destabilizing Syria and its new leadership, shortly before holding a phone conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“It is very important that Israel maintain a strong and true dialogue with Syria, and that nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria’s evolution into a prosperous State,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, days after a deadly operation by Israeli forces in the south of the country.
Trump said he was “very satisfied” with Syria’s current performance under former Islamist rebel President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House in November.
The US president said Sharaa “is working diligently to make sure good things happen, and that both Syria and Israel will have a long and prosperous relationship together.” He added that the United States was “doing everything within our power to make sure the Government of Syria continues to do what was intended” to rebuild the war-torn country…
I previously outlined the situation in Syria HERE. Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hizballah and Hamas are proliferating there. And the latest IDF raid was on Al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya, which is also present in the country. That raid turned deadly, prompting condemnation from France and Arab countries, and now also a warning from Trump to not “interfere in Syria.”
According to Israeli public broadcaster KAN News, the regime of Ahmed al-Sharaa has “appointed an envoy whose sole task is to facilitate communications between PIJ leadership and the Syrian government.” This news is obviously threatening to Israel and indicative of al-Sharaa’s menacing intentions.
Also, in September, Amnesty International reported
It isn’t Israel that is destabilizing the region or “interfering” in Syria. It is jihadists who are the threat. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is a dangerous, seasoned jihadist who has a brutal history in al-Qaeda; he also allied with ISIS (before betraying its late caliph, Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi).
No one really knows what Trump’s intentions are in tying the hands of Israel. A senior US official said that “Bibi is seeing ghosts everywhere,” but that official might see things differently if jihadis had ravaged his own family or was in immediate risk from them.
Netanyahu has since responded to Trump. He stated that “it is possible to reach an agreement” with Syria, but that “we will stand by our principles.”
Israel is trying to survive in a hostile neighborhood while also trying to appease Trump. Trump is most certainly the biggest and most powerful ally to Israel. Nonetheless, he is tying Netanyahu’s hands, since the Israeli prime minister is forced to stay within the boundaries of Trump’s permission.
In the meantime, al-Sharaa is biding his time, as are his fellow jihadists and his strongman supporter, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In essence, it’s a high noon confrontation between al-Sharaa and Netanyahu, while both are apparently being managed by Trump. Should al-Sharaa exercise just enough restraint now to keep Trump on his side, that restraint will only be a temporary. Jihadists are zealous, devious and patient. Should al-Sharaa not use restraint, he knows that he could face the wrath of both Trump and Netanyahu.
The biggest concern is that Israel will face the same enemies after Trump is out of office, and in the meantime, they will regroup and build.

Donald Trump is a janissary.
Perfectly stated.
Unfortunately, under Trump the foreign policy establishment’s goal of hastening the eradication of Christians in the Middle East continues. Why? I suppose it’s because erasing Christians in the birthplace of Christianity is a big score for their master-Satan.
“No one really knows what Trump’s intentions are in tying the hands
of Israel”. Propping up a monstrous Islamic regime like Al-Sharaa’s in
Syria means emboldening and strengthening Islam – which wants to
destroy Israel and subjugate the world. Especially a regime supported
by caliphate-loving fanatic Erdogan of Turkey.
How President Trump can be such an outstanding President for
America while simultaneously doing such a thing is a mystery. Not to
mention that once Trump is out of office, the fact that Israel’s enemies
will have had the chance to regroup and build is horrifying – not only
for Israel but for America as well.
There’s no mystery to it. Trump is not a deep thinker. He does not think in long range principles. He is essentially a pragmatist who thinks short range. And he assumes that everybody wants to make a RATIONAL deal. He has no understanding of the NIHILISM at the heart of Islam.
He is surrounded by too many isolationists and he is following their directions, though he is solely responsible. Watch out for Vice President Vance; a danger & a peace at any price. I don’t want him as the next President.
Vance seems to be in the Tucker Qatarlson camp as opposed to pro Israel Rubio and so Trump seems to be if the same mindset. Plus both Schitttcoff and Kushner both have property deals tied up in Qatar, quite unbelievable really.
Exactly right THX
Except maybe the rational part. Unfortunately THX I think it’s that Trump is quite a bit like Mac Arthur. It makes him sometimes stoopid with two o’s (approaching what he said about Walz), weird and unpredictable as far as any philosophy.
Look at his backing of the vaccine and his incompetence handling the Covid mess. The only way it got through to him that he wasn’t some big hero accelerating the use of defective vaccines and deadly respirators and that it was his cowardice not standing up against the state govs who herded old people into killing zones, was it became apparent that his constituency wasn’t going to vote for him. He still ran adds in his campaign touting that he was a hero and later hired rove as a special consultant to his campaign. Last year he was demanding, shoving it down our throats that we think of him as a maligned hero during the covid crises.
Only a walz would think Trump’s recent handling of Syria and deifying its current ruler is even partially reasonable. Only if Netanyahu asked Trump to do so because they were using it for stealth, good cop bad cop routine. As Annie 45 eloquently said,” Propping up a monstrous Islamic regime like Al-Sharaa’s in Syria means emboldening and strengthening Islam – which wants to destroy Israel and subjugate the world. Especially a regime supported by caliphate-loving fanatic Erdogan of Turkey.”-
It’s the worst, stupidest thing Trump can do and it’s highly immoral, also siding with genocide. He has cover in this case to do the right thing and can’t see it and likely will stubbornly stick to this really stoopid cosmetic, glitter bomb need to be the quickest deal maker. So what if there are zero Christians, Druze, Kurds, Jews in Syria> The Don has made a “peace” deal. Wink the cult of “Don.”
If Trump were to do anything halfways bright he would throw shade towards Al-Sharaa, better yet he would support setting up a Christian Druze part of Syria and if Al-Sharaa didn’t agree… no money and a lot of whoop ass.
You aren’t looking at how he is leading us into digital currency with his form of bitcoin and you aren’t looking at Stargate which he introduced his first full day in office. Oracle’s Larry Ellison, Open AI’s Sam Altman and Soft Bank’s Masayoshi Son are building 10 buildings in the 10 “regions” of America to house all the Stargate materials. Guess who will pay for the water and electricity costs of these buildings? The citizenry. Have you noticed that Peter Thiel’s Palantir is deep into our government? His first job was for the CIA, he has now been given 10 billion to “AI” the Pentagon. He was hired by Trump to make dossiers on all American citizens. That will be easy since his co-founder of PayPal, Elon Musk, went into all the federal agencies and got all our info. Oh yes, the fourth amendment is on it’s way out, the surveillance is everywhere and Trump is adding to it.
Don’t look to Vance to be any better. He was introduced to Trump after Peter Thiel and Eric Schmidt got rid of his Trump Derangement Syndrome. Vance loves climate change, thinks we should pay for our carbon footprints and his wife sits on the board of one of the Gates’ organizations, No thanks,
Think you want Rubio? Better do some research…he is a big time CIA boyo.
We’re in deep trouble and Trump is moving us into the GREAT RESET, aka UN Agenda 21/30.
Kelleigh Nelson – I’m still trying to get a clear picture of Donald
Trump both regarding Islam and Technocracy.
On one hand, Trump has put his money where his mouth is
regarding his loyalty to America – not just in the outstanding
things he has done for the country in both terms, but for his
deep belief in these things. If one listens to interviews of Trump
since he was young, he has never essentially wavered from these
convictions.
OTOH – There is the matter of his questionable Middle East
policies and seeming disregard for the dangers to America from
Islam AND his embrace of Silicon Valley Technocrats. Some of
these posers recently violated the First Amendment on social media
by heavy censorship and are now being embraced as America’s best
friends.
Thank you for pointing out that President Trump initiated Stargate on
his very first day in office this year – a Technocrat’s dream come true.
I didn’t even realize that.
There are many deeply troubling aspects of the Trump presidency. Hobnobbing with Islamic terrorists and terrorist supporters is revolting. Inviting Islamists to invest heavily in OUR country is revolting. Organizing Muslim nations to rule Gaza is revolting, as is telling the sovereign nation of Israel that they cannot annex Judea and Samaria. Trump should be using his might to demand these countries stop persecuting Christians and Jews.
I am convinced that the Tech overlords are nefarious at heart. They seem to have bought influence(even control) over Trump. The lack of discussion regarding the effects, dangers, and potential, of AI is DEEPLY disturbing. I listen to war room, and they are constantly warning about some of the dangers involved with AI. I don’t want to hear some superficial, candy-coated, propaganda about AI, I want a thorough national debate. I have lost a great deal of trust in Trump since he took office. The signs are not encouraging.
The only thing I know is that AI requires so much power and water that here in uk we will soon be back in the Stone Age.
Let me start by saying President Trump is magnificent, a born leader. However-because of the vile and one
sided horrible malicious treatment from the press and democrats the past 10 years he has turned inward
and developed an over sized EGO! You see it in most of his speeches and press conferences.-he goes on
about his accomplishments because none of his enemies will admit to them.
Trump is the MAN!!!
If Israel has the independent might it needs militarily in the long term, she must find her spine, her pride, her strength, and do what is right, what the nation must do to stand strong and not act as a vassel state of the United States. The only explanation I can ever imagine as to why Israel continues to cower in the shadow of patronizing and undermining dictates from the US is that she could not survive on her own and dare not risk arms embargos that could leave her very vulnerable during times of war. Otherwise, this shameful groveling behavior is hideous spector that has become a habit of weakness that must end. As for Trump (and I speak as someone who voted for him three times), his motives don’t concern me (though one can easily hypothesize what they are). What matters is what he’s saying and doing and, folks, it ain’t good. If I didn’t know it was Trump, I’d think it was Obama. Trump seems so enomoured with his ridiculous “peace plan” that it seems he’ll do anything to ensure (if even only in his mind) that it continues to move forward, all-the-while expanding his cozy relationships with the Islamic, jihadist, terrorist world. To say it is sick and disappointing would be a vast understatement.
Trump is destroying his presidency by meddling in middle-east politics that he doesn’t understand.
Agree. Trump obsession with ME peace it may destroy his presidency.
I notice the Democrats haven’t faulted his ME adventure…
Trump transactional foreign policy can’t work in The ME. For the same reason is not working with Putin. and Zelensky. There are certain thing in life can’t be bought. Ideology is one of them. Besides Syria is a
humpty-dumpty put together by Sykes–Picot Agreement. No matter how much Trump and his Arab parterres want to preserve it. It is bound to disintegrate.
Trump needs to concentrate on America and not put his energy into the Middle East. I don’t know what his fascination is with these Muslim countries. Does he think if he plays nice they aren’t going to stab him and the US in the back?
Give Israel all the land and push out all the Palestinians. I’m so sick of them. Let them all wander the desert
It appears that money is the primary ‘fascination’ with Muslim countries. Not enough eyebrows were raised when Qatar gave him a $400 million bribe. MAGA would have been outraged if Biden had received this ‘gift’. I don’t like it, I don’t like it one bit.
Already Qatar is trying to alter the so called ceasefire agreement (…) by saying Israel must leave Gaza before Hamas disarms.
Message to Trump. Stay in your lane!
War is coming. Egypt is being with Chinese anti-aircraft missiles. The significance of this is that the reason Israel defeated Egypt in the 6 Day War was because the Israeli airforce took out the Egyptian airforce before the planes even took off. Chinese missiles will make it impossible to repeat that feat. Israel gave Egypt the Sinai in return for a promise that Egypt would not move troops in. Well Egypt is moving in tanks, Chinese missiles, and is getting in a position where it will be able to invade Israel from the South. Turkey besides slaughtering Israel’s Kurdish friends in Syria is building up the Syrian army in the North of Israel. Iran is building up it’s missile force. Trump should not be helping Syria.
Hamas is still in Gaza and not disarming. Hamas is going to take more hostages. Think about that…
Trump is MIGA, Make Islam Great Again not that Islam was ever great. Frankly, Trump sucks with respect to the Jews and Israel while he pretends at times to be a friend, he ain’t. Trump did that. Read on. His vice president is even worse. Meanwhile his son is in Doha. They’re all trash again with respect to the Jews in particular. Sad. No wonder Trump was so welcoming of Mamdani to The White House.
