Zohran Mamdani’s hatred of Israel goes a long way back. As an undergraduate at Bowdoin, he founded the university’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, a group behind many of the violent protests on American college campuses today. He opposes the idea of Israel “as a Jewish state.” He does not object to the slogan “Globalize the Intifada,” which is an unambiguous call for extending worldwide the Intifadas (“uprisings”) that Palestinians conducted against Israeli Jews — the first from 1987 to 1990, the second from 2000 to 2005 — in which more than one thousand Jewish men, women, and children were murdered. “Globalize the Intifada” is a call to kill Jews — not just Israelis — everywhere. He has promised that as mayor he would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if Israel’s prime minister were to come to the city. Yet there are left-wing Jews who are supporting Mamdani, apparently impressed with his support of “democratic socialism,” and unfazed by, or even sharing, his antipathy to Israel.
Stephen Weiss, a rabbi in Israel, lays out what a Mamdani mayoralty would mean for the Jews of New York, in an article here: “Will the socialist, pro-intifada Mamdani make New York inhospitable for Jews? – opinion,” by Stewart Weiss, Jerusalem Post, July 13, 2025:
…Will Zohran Mamdani ruin New York?
Alas, it would seem so. Zohran Mamdani (the letters of the last name unscramble to “I, madman”) has won the New York Democratic primary and looks to be the front-runner in November’s general election. In capturing 56% of the vote – including no small number of deranged Jewish voters, no doubt former members of the “Indians for Custer” club – Zohran clearly defeated former governor Andrew Cuomo.
Though Cuomo and current mayor Eric Adams – an outspoken lover of Israel and friend of the Jewish community – are still in the race, Mamdani is expected to win the mayoral election. He has captured the fascination and touched the nerve of the young woke generation whose members love to focus on what they seemingly don’t have as they flash their “victimized, oppressed, and marginalized” card in demanding their piece of the Apple. Without paying, I should add. These are miscreant complainers who love free things, be it bus and train rides, college tuition, or rent-controlled apartments in the best parts of town. And, of course, they rally around the Palestinian-Hamas-Iranian flags and see Israel as the epitome of racist, white-privileged (even the Ethiopian Jews, who somehow don’t qualify as “people of color”) monsters who personify everything that is wrong with society. They pretend to distinguish between Zionists and Jews, even as they seek the downfall of the Jewish state and the demise of the Jewish army, which keeps our Nazi-like enemies at bay.
What is unfolding right in front of our unbelieving eyes looks like the sequel to Sinclair Lewis’s brilliant, dystopian 1935 novel It Can’t Happen Here, whereby a totalitarian dictator systematically takes over the US on a platform of instituting dramatic social and economic reforms. Lewis’s portrayal of a charismatic leader whose campaign promise to “share the wealth” ultimately brings bigotry, oppression, and financial disaster to the nation is suddenly chilling.
While this should certainly shake every good citizen of New York – and certainly Wall Street, which has much to lose – the Jewish community is dead center of the bull’s-eye. We are the enemy….
And as the window of hate opens further, the damage will likely spread well beyond the city to the outlying Jewish outposts now considered “safe zones.” Monsey, the Five Towns, Scarsdale, Great Neck, et al. will need their own internal security forces to protect them….
A note of hysteria has crept into Weiss’ article. Why will “the damage likely spread well beyond the city”? On what basis does he claim that suburbs with large Jewish populations will “need their own internal security forces” to protect them? Why does he assume the regular police in those suburbs will not be equal to the task?
The resistible rise of Zohran Mamdani spells nothing good for the Jews of New York City, who for the first time will have as their mayor someone who is openly and unapologetically anti-Israel. The writer of the article suggests that Jews in the city don “their vagabond shoes” and make aliyah. But it may be that Mamdani won’t win, because the centrist Democrats will withhold their support of Mamdani in the hope that the “Mamdani whirlwind” will simply disappear. Or it may be, if he is elected, he will — as someone who has no experience as an executive — be so overwhelmed with instituting his domestic policies that “democratic socialism” that promises to mightily disrupt and harm the economy of the city, and cause an outflow of its highest earners, that he won’t have time for pushing his pro-Palestinian agenda. Besides, as the city’s mayor he can emote, but he has no real power to affect foreign policy. Jews of New York, don’t pack your bags yet. And you don’t have to go to Israel to find a refuge from Zohran Mamdani. You can move, instead, right across the state line to Connecticut or New Jersey, and be safe from his malign mayoralty.
Wait and see what happens in November before packing your bags. Each new revelation about Zohran Mamdani’s economic and political views, and those of his father (who has claimed that Abraham Lincoln’s instituting reservations for native Americans supplied a model for Hitler’s concentration camps) chip away at his support. His victory in the Democratic primary was a surprise. Now, I suspect, his defeat in the general election will be another.

Rabbi Meir Kahane of blessed memory had the right idea.
As I recall, his assassin (who was involved in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center) beat the rap using antisemitic jury nullification. Much like Lemrick Nelson in the murder of Yankel Rosenbaum in the Crown Heights Pogrom.
As I recall, he was convicted of shooting another person while escaping.
A MamiWhosYerDadi victory will be a disaster for the NY Jews only if they don’t see what is coming and don’t respond accordingly.
Mamzerdani – because that’s what he is.
If Mamdani is elected mayor of New York City, New York City will be less safe, less
prosperous, and less livable.
His policies of defunding and defanging the police, hiring emergency response personnel based on skin color and gender rather than merit, and turning a blind eye to petty vandalism, vagrancy, and other seemingly minor offenses will make NYC less safe.
His policies of redistribution from those with the greatest potential to benefit to those with the greatest deficits, of raising taxes, increasing regulations, of expanding city government, and treating environmental issues not with cool, careful scientific analysis of costs and benefits, advantages and disadvantages, but with heated religious fervor, will make NYC less prosperous.
His focus on socialism and social justice for the disadvantaged over providing quality public services for all NYC residents will make NYC less livable.
His victory will be like that of Karl Lueger in Fin de siècle Vienna. And there were a lot of foolish optimists who said that was a storm that would past, too
I think there is going to be another Holocaust, at least in the U.S..
And, if you listen to the Michael Del Journo, show he firmly believes the growing Muslim population will form their own political party in the next few years. What an unconstitutional nightmare that will be. But Democrats will embrace it, because they are fools.
American Jews had better pull their heads out of their asses, drop the Tikkun Olam stupidity, and stop voting for their own executioners (Democrats), and smell the coffee.
I can’t say it enough to the Jewish population. Buy guns why you still can, get out of the anti-gun blue cities and states, and stock up on ammo. Lots of it. Go to the range and get trained up, mentally and physically. And, for God’s sake, drop the orthodox clothing until things are safe again. You might as well pin a target to your back with that look.
Save yourselves. No one is coming to save you.
American Jews had better keep one thing in mind: either you stand and fight for something or you will die like a coward for nothing.
Gen. George S. Patton once said: “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”
When it comes to that Mamdani retard, that rationale is applicable in how to deal with him and his ilk
All excellent points
My question is why should there be a growing muslim population? Keep them the hell out of the country. The reason NYC is so screwed up is that 40% of the population are foreign born. We need to return to a Zero immigration system. We have enough people already. These immigrants in NYC just want free stuff—it’s why they came in the first place. There should be zero federal dollars for this welfare.
From 1929 to 1965 there was ZERO foreign immigration into the US.
You probably never heard that before.
The Immigration Act of 1965 changed that.
Ted Kennedy and his Third World orientation gave us the modern age of chaos and mayhem.
Check it out.
If the Jews of NYC. don’t want the IslamoMarxist Mamdani to win, they had best get out and vote against him. Better yet, lift up their voices and make themselves heard while there is still time.
I-Madman will not change with the overwhelming reality of the job of NYC mayor – defeat him at the voting booths or hopefully something will happen to make him disappear
Memo to Mamdani:
You know those rich New York Jews that you hate and want to tax so that you can use their money to buy votes win the election? Well, they can move.
according to Florida real estate agents, they already are moving.
More then just the Jews should Move Out of the Big Apple and leave it and its leftists ways behind
I had no idea that I would be reading opinion pieces by Pollyanna when I subscribed to FRONT PAGE.
If New Yorker’s elect this madman I would hope Jews would leave the city and let it find out the hard way what they meant to the city.
It is the definition of graciousness to leave where one is not welcomed and the epitome of stupid to keep turning the other cheek when assaulted. Once is enough.
Jews have survived the worst monsters in human history. They will survive Mamdani, no doubt. What will not survive is NYC even America itself.
The betting houses put the probability of a Mamdani win at 76%.
Those betting houses have a much better track record of prediction than do the political pollsters.
When you’re handling billions of dollars…………people make it their business to know things.
Nine years ago on this website I said that New York was too far gone to ever be rehabilitated.
I was criticized by Daniel Greenfield for being too pessimistic about the GOP in New York and their future possibilities.
Somebody was right.
