Imagine you’re in a hospital in a big blue city, and while you’re there you recall the last time you visited in 2021 when you saw something you never saw before: physicians and nurses with tags on their coats that read, “White Coats for Black Lives” (WC4BL).

WC4BL, you later discover, is an organization of primarily medical students that became well known after the George Floyd incident in Minneapolis, although its founders trace the inspiration for the group to 2014 when medical students of color and others participated in die-ins to protest alleged police murders of black people.

We’re talking “murders” of black people not in hospitals or through “systematic racism,” but deaths that occurred outside hospital walls, many of which are highly debatable in terms of police culpability.

The big question in 2014 was: Does medicine have a responsibility to speak up when it comes to social justice issues around race?

WC4BL in 2026 is still very much an “alive” non-profit and a big part of medical student life. The group’s goal, to dismantle racism in health care, sounds honorable on one level but it loses all credibility when you switch that focus to alleged racial injustices like the death of George Floyd. WC4BL works as an activist group apart from life inside a hospital.

WC4BL might be compared to an army of woke medical zealots committed to dismantle racism in health care: Antifa with stethoscopes and patient charts.

A quick look at one of WC4BL’s policy statements:

As new members of the medical workforce, we not only fight and demand for the health workforce to be reflective of the diversity of the national population, but also push for the education of all physicians with regards to racial justice. We believe that a physician cannot effectively address the well-being of racial minorities without being able to recognize and combat racism.

How can an organization like WC4BL carry any weight in a hospital existing in a city that is majority black – I’m thinking of Philadelphia – where if blatant racism exists, it’s neatly squirreled away in the heads of individuals? In a city as black as Philly, flagrant, systematic racism – even if it existed once upon a time – has been excised long ago.

In fact, the city is so black that most whites here have gotten to the point where they don’t even think about skin color. Most everyone you deal with on a daily basis is black: bus drivers, police officers, sanitation workers, food store clerks. Whites have accepted the fact that members of their own race are disappearing so quickly you can count (on one hand) the number of white people you see whenever you ride the Market-Frankford El.

Philadelphia is a black city where racism against black people doesn’t stand a chance of survival.

Consider for a moment, the black majority Philadelphia City Council, the city’s sanctuary city status supported by a black mayor who not long ago instituted Muslim Day. In fact, the mayor’s fascination with Islam seems to be an outgrowth of the city’s growing black Muslim population as well as the Left’s alliance with Islam.

Philly is so Left it nearly destroyed itself economically in 2020 with Democrat lockdown policies. When the self-righteous Floyd rioters invaded different city neighborhoods then, city police were held back from authentic enforcement; the situation was so bad vigilante groups with baseball bats stood guard on neighborhood streets. They did this because police were told to handle the rioters with velvet gloves.

The “White Coat” brigade did its job to “dismantle racism ahead of healthcare,” because in 2021 you couldn’t walk into a public health clinic without being bombarded with big posters supporting Black Lives Matter.

What does BLM have to do with a UTI, kidney stone, blocked artery or serious sinus infection?

In Philly, everything is politics. In fact, there are restaurants in Center City today that claim they will not serve ICE supporters because the staff – the bar tap girls who pump suds – won’t have it. One well-known Irish restaurant, famous for its leftist poetry readings and dark medieval gothic interior, will chase down anyone who challenges its anti-ICE Facebook postings. That chase may include harassing phone calls and voicemail recordings from employees that, “Our sudsy girl beer bartenders and soyboy hamburger flippers will refuse to serve you if you come into the restaurant. We don’t tolerate hate.” “Hate,” of course, is any disagreement with woke Democrat policies. A voicemail recording I received in this regard was delivered with an Irish brogue, a leprechaun with a switchblade.

WC4BL also aims to dismantle fatphobia, abolish prisons, dismantle capitalism, and support queer/trans liberation, which of course only means cheering the genital mutilation of children. The group has enacted policy changes throughout the country, including at the University of Michigan, the University of California-Davis, and the University of Minnesota.

Today the focus among woke medical personnel is not on race and BLM but on opposing ICE raids.

The consensus in Philly (“It’s a Philly Thing”) – we’re not talking about the amazing conservative community here, such as the work of street activists like Frank Scales – is that peaceful protests constitute face-to-face ICE confrontations.

Jumping into the street and throwing your body against ICE agents has become the definition of a peaceful protest.

Mother Jones, the mother ship of leftist journalism, reported in January that the nation’s largest nurses’ union labeled ICE agents a “Public Health Threat.” These registered nurses demanded that ICE be abolished immediately and that all deportations cease.

Nurse Ratched multiplied by five thousand has come out of the closet as a lethal force, as evidenced by another report by “People’s World” that “Nurses lead nationwide demands to abolish ICE.”

Malinda Rose Cook, a white liberal RN in the once-great state Virginia, was suspended by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) when the hospital reported her to local law enforcement for encouraging fellow medics and protesters to inject agents with muscle relaxants – filling syringes with succinylcholine, a powerful anesthetic that paralyzes every muscle in the body – while spraying others with poisoned ivy water.

Cook didn’t want to kill ICE agents, just make their lives miserable. In another posted clip, Cook – who looks somewhat like podcaster witch Jennifer Welch – advocated putting Ex-Lax into food served to ICE agents.

This reminds me of the tales I heard in Romania when I visited there last spring, namely about wives who caught their husbands cheating and wanted to do them in slowly over time by putting a little bit of poison into their food. These small undetectable poison rations would have a cumulative effect, eventually doing in the cheating husband.

Another deranged anti-ICE nurse, Erik Martindale of Florida, posted online his refusal to administer anesthesia to patients who support MAGA. Martindale, flaunting his anti-ICE arrogance, maintained that the posts were “his right.” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who thought otherwise, responded on X: “Healthcare is not contingent on political beliefs.” Martindale’s nursing license to practice in Florida was relinquished.

Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, a kidney specialist and author of the book, Take Two Aspirin and Call Me by My Pronouns: Why Turning Doctors Into Social Warriors is Destroying American Medicine, said it best: “Woke health care just goes against medical ethics.”
