Eight years later, and – well – things have changed.
The leftist infidels have been estranged
From their old pals who follow the Koran.
For now, in Hamtramck, as in Pakistan,
The powers that be have banned the rainbow flag,
Which they, as one, view as a filthy rag,
Cheering its banishment with a loud and giddy
Howl of – yes, no kidding -“fagless city.”
The former mayor – Polish – feels betrayed.
Was all that brotherhood a masquerade?
Who’d ever have believed Muhammed’s minions
Held such heartless, hideous opinions?
Unthinkable! You’d almost want to cry
That multiculturalism is a lie.

You make an interesting point. The secular irrationality of the secular Left is so irrational that it makes the irrationality of religion seem preferable. The human mind can deal with the irrational but only to a certain limit beyond which it literally cannot function.
